Shownotes

The fourth episode features a bottle of El Jimador Tequila Silver. A leftover from my Cinco de Mayo party last year, but it's a good spirit! It's a 1.75 L bottle that's 40% alcohol by volume, or 80 proof.

This episode is best enjoyed with El Jimador Tequila Silver! Or a margarita made with it.

Brief Historical Timeline:

  • 1994 - Brand launched
  • 2005 - Sold nearly 1.4 million, 9 liter cases worldwide, 150,000 in the USA
  • 2006/2007 - Brand acquired by Brown-Forman
  • Late 2000s - Best selling tequila in Mexico with 12% market share

Key Cocktails:

The two margaritas featured at my Cinco de Mayo party, referenced on the Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker website, though apparently no longer available.

Peachy Ginger Rita:

  • 3 oz. Silver Tequila - El Jimadora of course!
  • 1.5 oz. Peach Schnapps
  • 1.5 oz. Lime juice
  • 6 oz. Ginger ale

If making in the machine, you fill the top reservoir with ice, combine ingredients in the glass mixing jar, hit the "go baby go" button to concoct until smooth, pour into a glass and enjoy! If you don't have the machine, just blend with ice until smooth.

Key West Margarita

  • 3 oz. Melon Liqueur - don't skimp, spring for Midori
  • 3 oz. Pina Colada Mix
  • 1.5 oz. Lime juice
  • 1.5 oz. Orange juice
  • 3 dashes of Grenadine

If making in the machine, you fill the top reservoir with ice, combine ingredients in the glass mixing jar, hit the "go baby go" button to concoct until smooth, pour into a glass and enjoy! If you don't have the machine, just blend with ice until smooth.

Sparkling Rose Margarita Punch - The surprise hit of the party!

  • 10 oz. Strawberry-basil infused Silver Tequila - El Jimador of course (soak cut strawberries and bruised basil in the tequila for up to 24 hours, then strain)
  • 5 oz. Fresh lime juice
  • 4 oz. Agave syrup
  • 1 Bottle Sparkling Rose (750 ml)
  • Garnish with sliced strawberries and lime wheels

Combine the tequila, lime juice and agave syrup, add cubed ice and stir with a ladle to mix. Top with sparkling rose and garnish.
