Thank you for joining us for our 7 days a week, 7 minutes of wisdom podcast. This is Day 244 of our Trek. Today and tomorrow we will finish up our 24th and 25th day of our Trek Your Life Plan Blueprint. Since our life planning series has covered many days, if you miss any of our Wisdom-Trek episodes, please go to Wisdom-Trek.com to listen to them and read the daily journal.
I am incorporating all of these daily concepts along with worksheets into an easy to use workbook, and I will let you know when it is complete so that you can download it. If you have any questions or would like additional information as we go through our daily trek, leave a comment on Wisdom-Trek.com or email me at guthrie@venturecg.com.
We are recording our podcast from our studio at The Big House in Marietta, Ohio. We are finishing the week strong by accomplishing a significant amount within all areas of life. Life at times is challenging but also enjoyable as long as we maintain a good mindset.
The contractors have also made good progress in the upstairs hall and front stairwell. Hopefully their part will be completed before we return in the middle of February. If all goes according to plan, I should be able to focus most of Saturday on the woodwork in the library. We will then head back to Charlotte on Sunday morning.
As we finish up our Life Plan trek today and tomorrow with a recap, this is day twenty-four of the hike which we refer to as…
As I started planning for the recap of Your Life Plan Blueprint, I found it more challenging than I initially thought to encapsulate the blueprint concept into a short overview. There is just so much valuable content. So, let’s move on.
Using a statement that was popularized by Steven Covey in his 7-Habits book, this is the context that we begin with Your Life Plan Blueprint. While the plan is simple and easy to implement, it is radically different than traditional goal setting programs. The concepts are not necessarily new, but the structure of Your Life Plan Blueprint changes the paradigm of most goal setting systems. The Wisdom-Trek system begins by looking at life holistically and from a long-term perspective. This foundational mindset will ensure that all objectives and goals set are working in harmony with each other and supporting your life’s purpose.
Determining your life purpose is the first step in creating a dynamic and effective life plan. Your purpose could also be called your mission in life, which is a word that is used in most goal setting systems. I prefer the word “purpose” because it reflects more of a mindset and the reason for being, which is much more holistic. A mission reflects a finite task that is to be accomplished. Your purpose for life continues until God transforms your body to be with Him.
Once your life purpose has been established, next determine your overall objective for your life. Your life objective could also be called your vision for life, which again is a more commonly used term in most goal setting systems. I prefer the word “objective” because it creates a mindset of something that you will definitely complete in a practical and holistic manner. A vision reflects more of a dream or something that you hope for and, therefore, is not as tangible.
While your life must be viewed holistically to effectively set objectives and goals, your life is separated into 7 distinct areas, which creates your Wheel of Life. Those 7 areas are:
While we segment life in these 7 logical areas, keep in mind that changes in one area will certainly affect all areas of your life. As part of Your Life Plan Blueprint, it is crucial that all areas of life remain in balance as much as possible. If your wheel of life currently has certain areas that are out of balance, a greater focus should be placed on those areas in your life plan to bring your life into balance.
The Wisdom-Trek core framework for Your Life Plan Blueprint is built on the six steps or phases which we refer to as your WESPER framework. I use the acronym of WESPER, which stands for:
The WESPER framework is the engine that drives your life plan forward. Through this WESPER framework, goals you never thought achievable, which make up your overall life plan, will start becoming within your reach, and in a matter of time, achieved.
As part of Your Life Plan Blueprint, I suggest that you set just one major 7-year objective in each area of life. When deciding what that objective is, you may want to put it in the form of a statement such as: Financially in 7 years, I will be debt-free except for my mortgage. Repeat this step for all 7 areas of your life. Make sure that each of your 7 objectives support your overall life objective (vision) and your overall life purpose (mission). Also, make sure that by the end of the 7 years that your Wheel of Life is in balance as best as possible. I use the 7-year time frame for your long-term objective because 7-years represents a season of life. There are many Biblical and scientific reasons for support of the 7-year season of life. When you are approaching the end of your first 7-year season, you will then be prepared to repeat the entire process for another 7 years.
The Wisdom-Trek Your Life Plan Blueprint is a logical approach to life planning, breaking down large objectives into very small digestible tasks that can easily be completed. Once the process is put into place with consistent persistence, it is easy to follow. Your Life Plan Blueprint is worth pursuing but will require your dedicated effort to gain the rich and satisfying life that you are capable of achieving. As the children of Israel proclaimed as they were heading back into Jerusalem after exile in Psalm 126:5, “Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy.” You can leave your exile and bondage by creating your life plan.
We are nearing base camp once again as we wind down this extended trek reviewing the Wisdom-Trek Your Life Plan Blueprint. Tomorrow we will provide the remaining points of our recap covering our 25-day trek. We are refining all of this valuable information into our initial release of the course and workbook that will provide you with the complete Your Life Plan Blueprint with the integrated WESPER framework. I will let you know as soon as it is available. So, encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
That will finish our podcast for today. As you enjoy your daily dose of wisdom, I encourage you to help us promote Wisdom-Trek in the following four ways:
