The Psalmist. Psalm 18:29. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 27 of 30 Days of Psalms. Today’s passage reminds me of a text that’s almost twin from another Testament: “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” but the Psalmist just has better poetic form. What unflinching confidence both authors had. God would not, could not, fail them. When it comes to doing the right thing we may feel alone against the world—impossibly out-gunned. We may feel overwhelmed with the apparently simple task of making an apology or immobilized by the daunting task of forgiving someone who’s hurt us more deeply than we can ever express. Perhaps its carrying out an overwhelming mission of some kind. Or just raising teens to be decent, God-loving citizens. Whatever the case, we can move forward with uninhibited courage because we walk with God.
