Shownotes

Welcome to the fourth and last episode of the summer prediction series, where I pull out the one thing all four were pointing at: brand differentiation strategy.

Today I'm sharing the luxury brand strategy that premium brands such as Ferrari and Chanel use, the thing that makes them so lucrative, and it means doing what every online business coach will tell you not to do. Plus I'll show you how to borrow that luxury brand model and apply it in your own business.

I'll also talk about the dimension you make your decisions from, because most women decide from a place of proving, and that is what holds them back.

Topics covered on Brand Differentiation Strategy:

  1. What do premium brands do differently when they make long-term decisions?
  2. What is Ferrari's and Chanel's brand differentiation strategy that makes them so lucrative?
  3. Why do successful women still feel they have to justify their high ticket offer and their premium prices?
  4. What makes some businesses accelerate while others circle the same level for years?

4 Kinds of Ownership

[:

[00:00:48] Not how do I reach more people, but what is it that you do that means your thinking compounds, and people hear about it and know that it originally came from you. Episode three, I went all in on Taylor Swift, about owning your assets, your story. Your story is your greatest asset. The tours she has had, the upcoming wedding, it was all about protecting the story she wants to control and hold the narrative of.

What Deciding From a Different Dimension Means for Your Business

[:

[00:02:52] And when you speak from that point, when you see yourself in that place, your decision making changes [00:03:00] because you are not deciding things in order to prove. Not to prove that you are good enough, that your thinking is good, that your ways work, that you have credibility even if you only have 4,000 followers.

Why Successful Women Still Feel They Have to Do More to Deserve It

Because what I see holding so many women back in business, even when they have incredible levels of success, is that they still feel they need to do more in order to receive it.

[:

[00:05:07] I am continually looking at how I can better myself, how I can improve, but I am not going out there saying, "Oh, I need to know more, I need to learn more before I can charge these prices." I do not need to justify what I charge, how I show up and what I do in my business. I do not need to justify it. I get to speak from it, but I also get to grow from it.

[:

[00:06:07] I know that sounds so simple. What you are creating and why, 2 very simple questions. But when I ask you that now, and you are listening to this podcast, can you tell me? Are you shouting it at the speaker? Are you replaying it in your head, thinking I know exactly what I would say back to her?

How Trusting What You Create Makes You Take Bigger Risks

[:

[00:06:50] You will take more risks. You will decide from a different place than you might default into. You will put yourself into rooms with people you do not know. You will launch the high ticket offer you have been wanting to launch but have been sat on for months, probably years. Because when you trust in what you are creating, you cannot get it wrong.

[:

[00:07:45] Not selling at the same price point because that is what has sold out before. Not keeping the clients you know you can really help but who are not the ones going to rocket fuel your business, because they are just not ready to work with you in the way you want to work. Luxury brands have always pushed themselves into thinking about decisions from a different dimension, because they have such core trust in what their brand stands for.

What Ferrari and Chanel Do That Business Coaches Warn Against

[:

[00:08:42] So they did what every online business coach will tell you not to do. They left money on the table. I will happily leave money on the table. Well, I say happily. I will leave money on the table if I can see that the longer term opportunity is bigger and I trust myself to move for it, which is what the brands I have just given as examples always do.

Why Luxury Brands Protect Assets Instead of Chasing Quick Wins

[:

[00:09:27] That is what they have to protect. It is always about asset protection rather than short term gain. Protect the brand long term, build the business into a much more solid, stable, financially sharp business. That is the luxury brand strategy at work, and most businesses are deciding from a completely different question of will this work?

Your Growth Comes Down to Ownership, Not My Predictions

And this is the pattern I have wanted, I hope, to disrupt by doing this miniseries of predictions for what is going to come in. I can sit on these episodes and predict the trends, the things I think are going to shift in buyer behaviour and how businesses grow, and I can share it, and they may come true, they may look different, who knows?

[:

[00:10:47] I know what we stand for, and I am not producing more cars because people have asked for a lot of cars." They know what they stand for. They own it. They build their brand differentiation strategy around that. They make decisions from the dimension of already being in demand, already having a brand with a reputation, already trusting that they will create what they have said they are going to create, and therefore they are not deciding based on what anybody else is saying or the dimensions anybody else is putting forward.

Why You Cannot Outsource Your Decision Making

[:

[00:11:52] But you can shift that decision making into looking at it through the dimensions of what only you can create, the relationships only you can hold, the IP all of this comes from, everything I have talked about in the previous episodes. So in some ways the predictions I have put out there are quite complex. They are not what you will hear when you go to a business coach's podcast and they talk about what content is converting. We need those conversations, but the predictions I have made are not falling into an easy trend right now.

She Sets the Standard Is Live in Central London This November

[:

[00:13:19] We are in Central London. It is a business meets innovation meets identity event, because I do not create events where you go in, learn some great things, walk out and do the same thing again. I design experiences through the content, through the way you experience the room, through the women who are also going to be in that room with you, through the speakers who will transform and shift your identity on that day.

[:

[00:14:25] They are still in it. I would love to see you at She Sets the Standard. It is an industry leading event, and it is going bigger into 2026. If you have any questions about the event, you can DM me at rachelpearson.co. You will find all the information about tickets, price points, and what is included in the day on the sales page.
