Speaker:

Hello and welcome to Women in

the Coaching Arena podcast.

2

:

I'm so glad you are here.

3

:

I'm Jo Lott, a business mentor

and ICF accredited coach

4

:

Microphone (Samson Q2U Microphone):

and I help coaches to

5

:

build brilliant businesses.

6

:

I know that when you prepare to enter

the arena, there is fear, self doubt,

7

:

comparison, anxiety, uncertainty, shame.

8

:

You can tend to armor up and

protect yourself from vulnerability.

9

:

In this podcast, I'll be sharing

honest, not hype, practical and

10

:

emotional tools to support you to make

the difference that you are here for.

11

:

Dare greatly.

12

:

You belong in this arena.

13

:

Welcome to the 43rd episode of

women in the coaching arena,

14

:

I am so glad you are here.

15

:

Today, I'm excited to share a personal

reflection of an evening out I had

16

:

last night at Wimbledon center court,

which was wonderful to be there in

17

:

the kind of fancy debentures area.

18

:

It was a really inspiring evening

with lots of young Wimbledon players

19

:

their sharing their insights.

20

:

I was seated next to a

multi-millionaire business owner.

21

:

And through our conversation over

the two or three hours of the dinner.

22

:

I learned loads of valuable lessons that

I can't wait to share with you today.

23

:

That you can take forward into

your business that I am definitely

24

:

taken forward into mine.

25

:

So here are my lessons

from a multimillionaire.

26

:

So first thing I noticed is

surrounding himself with excellence.

27

:

So this person, despite his immense

wealth and business responsibilities

28

:

plays tennis, not just occasionally, but

five times a week, several times a day.

29

:

And, so I have never really heard

of someone playing that often, who

30

:

isn't a professional tennis player,

like several times a day when he has

31

:

a very extensive business to run.

32

:

So I quizzed him on this and

he believes in being completely

33

:

committed to what he wants to do.

34

:

And also surrounding himself by the best.

35

:

So he had paid lots of the

best tennis players in the

36

:

world to play tennis with him.

37

:

Because he wants to

compete against the best.

38

:

So it was a really specific mindset

that I witnessed and surrounding himself

39

:

with people who are better than him.

40

:

So we can take that into your business.

41

:

Being in a room with people doing

amazing things will change your

42

:

perspective on money and success.

43

:

Rather than focusing on small

gains, like for example, selling

44

:

a coaching session for 50 pounds.

45

:

He would be focusing on huge

gains, like securing a really

46

:

big contract in your business.

47

:

And when you are part of something

where you hear what's possible, Like

48

:

I'm fortunate enough to hear this from

my clients all the time, who are going

49

:

for those big corporate contracts now.

50

:

And it's really inspiring what can

happen if you make that decision

51

:

and really, really go for it.

52

:

So the second lesson that I

learned was speedy decision-making.

53

:

As coaches, we often see our clients

and ourselves dithering over decisions.

54

:

Whether that is choosing a niche,

crafting a social media post.

55

:

This guys approach was very different.

56

:

He doesn't have time to ponder over

that same small decision repeatedly.

57

:

It was really apparent that he makes

quick firm decisions, allowing him to

58

:

manage his multimillion pound company

whilst still playing tennis five

59

:

times a week, several times a day.

60

:

And so that decisiveness

really does save time.

61

:

And makes him more successful than

the next person who is procrastinating

62

:

and spending a lot of time considering

what their next move should be.

63

:

My third lesson was

pursuing goals with urgency.

64

:

So this third lesson I learned

was about going after those goals

65

:

in the fastest way possible.

66

:

So he was talking about the fact

he doesn't wait around for email

67

:

responses which will delay the action.

68

:

So, for example, you might send an

email for someone, they spend five

69

:

days thinking about it and then

find an email back you email back.

70

:

Before, you know, it you've wasted

like three weeks or a month.

71

:

Whereas that person who has got

that answer immediately is then

72

:

three weeks to a month ahead of you.

73

:

So he would just call someone, say

he wants this now and often gets it.

74

:

So it was a real wake up call of this

kind of polite way that we can often have.

75

:

Of sending one email thinking.

76

:

That friend might get me

into their organization.

77

:

Let's send this one email and then

we'll just sit and wait for a month in

78

:

the hope that they'll come back to us.

79

:

How about sending 50 emails to

50 friends that we have, and then

80

:

you're not waiting and spending a

lot of time waiting on one response.

81

:

So this approach ensures that your

goals are reached so much quicker and

82

:

reduces time, wastage exponentially.

83

:

So let's dive into further applying

these lessons to your coaching business.

84

:

It's safe to say that many of us

waste precious time, overthinking

85

:

minor details, or hesitating

to invest money in our growth.

86

:

But we can see time as a more

valuable resource than money.

87

:

So imagine investing and I'm very

fortunate, that I have invested a lot in

88

:

my business to fast track my own progress.

89

:

If someone who's done this before, Can

tell me exactly how to do something

90

:

that will genuinely save me a year or

two of trying to figure it out myself.

91

:

Therefore make me so much more money

because what could I earn in a year

92

:

or two of not going round in circles.

93

:

Just like the millionaire invests

in the top tennis players to

94

:

improve his tennis skills.

95

:

We can do the same and ask people

further ahead for their help

96

:

in making your journey quicker.

97

:

Whether that's through hiring experts,

getting better tools, spending

98

:

money on marketing or mentoring.

99

:

It's not an expense, but an

investment in your success.

100

:

Moving on to decision-making.

101

:

So that speed again is crucial.

102

:

Make decisions quickly and confidently.

103

:

If you are going into business.

104

:

Trying to avoid any failure.

105

:

Sadly, you are probably going to

fail because that is the greatest

106

:

risk in life is not taking any

risks, not making any decisions.

107

:

Therefore just wasting all of your time.

108

:

And it's not just standing still

is actually going backwards.

109

:

Because what I see is it then

people's confidence will erode

110

:

from them not making a decision.

111

:

And you could just make that

decision fall fast, fall hard.

112

:

And in a months time you'll know

what works and what doesn't work.

113

:

Yes, it sounds hard.

114

:

But if entrepreneurship was

easy, everyone would be doing it.

115

:

So the quicker you move the

faster you will see results.

116

:

And lastly, direct action.

117

:

So follow that approach

of direct communication.

118

:

If you want to partner with

someone, contact them directly

119

:

as quickly as possible.

120

:

Follow up with them.

121

:

If you need a client decision, call them.

122

:

Cut down that waiting time and

you will see how efficiently

123

:

your business operates.

124

:

So in conclusion lessons

from last night are clear.

125

:

Surround yourself with people

farther along than you.

126

:

Make decisions swiftly and

pursue your goals with urgency.

127

:

It's about investing, not just the money,

but also your time and energy wisely.

128

:

Time spent pondering over

small decisions is time lost in

129

:

achieving your great success.

130

:

Time is the only thing

that we can never get back.

131

:

And like I said, I really believe

that we very rarely stand still.

132

:

We either go backwards or we go forwards.

133

:

So thank you for tuning into this short

episode of women in the coaching arena.

134

:

I hope this helps you

have an amazing:

135

:

Happy new year.

136

:

I hope it will be one full of quick

decisions and I cannot wait to see

137

:

your business grow and prosper.

138

:

And like I say, at the end

of every episode, trust

139

:

yourself, believe in yourself.

140

:

And be the wise Gardner who

keeps on watering the seed.

141

:
