We tend to strive to be on top because we think it will satisfy us, but the journey up can make us enemies of God, ourselves, and everyone we care about.
When we choose to humble ourselves for the sake of others, like Christ humbled himself for us (Phil 2:8), God exalts us in His kingdom, and that exaltation last for eternity.
