Last night i had a dream, nightmare really, that it rained at the resorts and washed most of the snow away. Luckily, it was just a dream! In reality, the top of Thredbo and Perisher both got a little snow through the day yesterday, with it falling as rain lower down.

As I promised yesterday, there will not be any rain today. Perisher valley and Charlotte Pass are both looking at a top temperature around 7 or 8 degrees, with moderate breezes at worst. It’ll be partly cloudy / partly sunny. Over at Thredbo, it will be much the same - a max of 5 degrees up the top , moderate breezes and a bit of sun, a bit of cloud.

On the roads up to the resorts, you won’t need to put chains on, but there are icy stretches on the way to Perisher and Guthega, particularly the latter parts of the drive. The road to Thredbo is clear, but please be careful. Actually, talking about the roads, recently I did a vehicle training course with the SES (shout out to SES Snowy River!) One of the things that most stuck with me is that all the authorities say we should keep at least a 3 second distance between us and the next car. Have a think about that - when you’re next in the car, count 1 thousand and one, one thousand and two, one thousand and three - and that’s the time it should take between the car ahead of you passing a landmark, and you reaching it.

Hopefully I've just saved a life, or at least a couple of hefty insurance excesses.

Spring starts tomorrow, and there’s a small chance of a bit of snow later in the day. I’m not totally sold that will happen, but we still have plenty of snow on the ground, so I hope you make the most of it while it’s there.
