Without Courage – Daily Wisdom

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1796 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16  says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget: Today’s quote is from Benjamin Franklin, and it is, "A person without courage is like a knife without an edge."

Without Courage

Having tools that are broken or not as functional as possible is highly frustrating. We burn a lot of firewood during the wintertime to help heat ‘The Big House," which requires a significant amount of cutting and splitting the wood to have an adequate supply.  I have a large 24” Husqvarna chain saw, and while it does a great job when the chain is new and sharp, it does not take long when cutting hard oak trees for the chain to dull. Cutting with a dull chain saw reminds me of today’s quote.  It is challenging to make any progress with a dull chain...It is like living without the courage to handle the challenging times of life.  When the chain dulls much at all, it is time to stop and invest the time needed to resharpen the chain. So it is with courage. If you lack courage in any area of life, you will become ineffective and unable to make progress. Just as the chain needs to be sharpened to make progress cutting the firewood, you will need to continuously sharpen yourself to gain the courage necessary to keep moving forward. Gaining that courage will not be easy and require shaving off the shell you are hiding behind to expose the courage you need. This process is like sharpening the chain where you remove what is worn to reveal a sharp edge to continue moving forward. Deuteronomy 31:6 So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid, and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
