A common belief among entrepreneurs is an idea that the key to scaling is cloning themselves, finding people or systems to do what they do so they can finally get ahead. But in this episode of The Scalable Expert Podcast, Tara flips that idea on its head.
Instead of trying to clone yourself, Tara reveals why the real path to freedom and scalability lies in capturing yourself - your expertise, your experience, and the proven process that gets results - so it can live and grow beyond your time and attention.
You’ll discover how to:
If you’ve ever felt maxed out, overbooked, or stretched too thin - this episode is your permission slip to scale smarter, not harder. You don’t need more versions of yourself; you need a clear, repeatable way to capture what makes your expertise unique and turn it into a system that works for you.

Hey everybody.
2
:Welcome to episode 401 of
the Scalable Expert Podcast.
3
:I am thrilled that you're here today.
4
:Hey, in this podcast I'm gonna talk
about the term "cloning yourself".
5
:So often in the past, we have heard
that as the way to get ahead in your
6
:business is only you can clone yourself.
7
:Your business would grow, you would
be able to scale your business.
8
:All you need to do is to find more people
who can do exactly what you do, and that
9
:will start to grow your business, right?
10
:You look at your org model and you, put
the right people in the right places and,
11
:and then, give them everything that's
in your head and you can clone yourself.
12
:So this is a term that, has been
used over and over and over again.
13
:And here's the deal, I don't think
it's about cloning yourself, I think
14
:it is about capturing yourself.
15
:So let's talk through that and
how do we, instead of cloning
16
:ourselves, capture ourselves.
17
:So when you talk about the scalable
expert, one of the things that is critical
18
:is how do you take your expertise and
scale it beyond your time and attention?
19
:That is when your expertise becomes
something that exponentially,
20
:gets out in the world so that you
can serve at the highest level.
21
:So if we look at capturing ourself versus
cloning ourself, we're really looking at
22
:how do we take that expertise, how do we
take our ability to help our customers
23
:and you know, deliver on that custom work
or that project or whatever it is that
24
:we are using our expertise for and start
to package our expertise in a new way.
25
:And so if we can do that, if we can
capture our expertise and productize
26
:it into something that we can now start
using as an asset to sell over and
27
:over again, what we've done is we've
captured our expertise in a way that
28
:allows people to be able to consume
it without us being present, without
29
:us taking up all of our time, maxing
out our calendar, and, and really just
30
:having to go through the process of,
implementing our expertise over and
31
:over and over and over, over again.
32
:Okay, so let's talk about what that means.
33
:In the scalable expert model and
the Infinite Scale Method, what
34
:we're doing is we're helping people
define what their expertise is, find
35
:the pattern in how they have helped
other people with their expertise,
36
:turn it into a signature framework.
37
:The signature framework is really the
proprietary path that you take people
38
:on to go from where they are today
to the transformation or the result
39
:that they're looking for, right?
40
:What are those steps that they need to
take to get from point A to point B?
41
:That's your signature framework,
building your authority strategy on that.
42
:Meaning like you are known
for that particular framework.
43
:You're known for that methodology.
44
:You're known for that intellectual
property, whatever that looks like
45
:you're taking, that you are delivering
an experience in, you know, again,
46
:in an infinite number of ways, but
you're delivering that experience that
47
:consistently gets people to that result
that your expertise is giving them.
48
:You're essentially productizing
your expertise, right?
49
:You're taking what you know and making
it into something that's tangible that
50
:somebody could grab and be able to get to
the result that you are uniquely qualified
51
:to give them based on your years of
experience, your years of training, your,
52
:whatever it is that you are, that is,
that has gotten you to this point of being
53
:an expert, so that then you become an
authority in your industry or your niche.
54
:You have an approach, a consistent
approach that you lead with that, that
55
:helps people not only, believe in your
expertise but you can show that you have
56
:a proven path that has been used and
you've gotten people results, and then
57
:you can take that and deliver it in an
infinite number of ways that allow you
58
:to scale your expertise into a business.
59
:And that, my friends, is when you're
able to capture yourself into that
60
:kind of a system, your growth based
on your expertise is limitless.
61
:You can, continue to grow now and in
the future, all based on how you've
62
:been able to package your expertise.
63
:So instead of thinking about how you
clone yourself, which is really based on
64
:time, right, you need to clone yourself
because you don't have time to do the
65
:same thing over and over and over again
with, an unlimited amount of clients.
66
:So you don't wanna
actually clone yourself.
67
:You wanna take your expertise, capture
it into a system, and make it into
68
:an asset that then you can use to
make a larger impact, larger income,
69
:and do all of that without it maxing
out all of your time and attention.
70
:That is the sweet spot from taking
years of experience, years of training,
71
:whatever it is that you're an expert
in, and really looking at how your,
72
:how you've, you created your slice
of, of impact in the world, right?
73
:And making sure that everything
that you're doing has some
74
:sort of legacy attached to it.
75
:That is how you capture your expertise.
76
:So instead of being tempted to clone
yourself, getting tons and tons of
77
:little clones of, you know, whatever that
looks like for you, either, duplicating
78
:yourself with technology, duplicating
yourself with staff, duplicating yourself
79
:in many different ways because you need
to deliver something that's gonna take
80
:time, instead, think about how do you turn
your expertise into a scalable asset so
81
:that you can become a scalable expert.
82
:You can scale your expertise
beyond your time and attention.
83
:All right.
84
:This was a short episode, but I really,
I've seen that concept of, becoming
85
:a clonable version of yourself,
cloning yourself, cloning your
86
:business, all the different things.
87
:And I would argue that when you look at
that model, just flip it on its side and
88
:think about how do you capture yourself?
89
:How do you capture your expertise in
a different way so that you can make
90
:a bigger impact out in the world.
91
:If you love this episode and you know that
somebody, one of your colleagues is really
92
:worried about cloning themselves, right?
93
:Like they just are maxed out on
time, send 'em this episode, it may
94
:challenge them enough to think about
how do you do that differently?
95
:How do you still provide a ton of
value and experience to your customers,
96
:and also protect your time and
attention and it really comes into
97
:play when you can capture yourself
and leverage your time and attention.
98
:Alright, there you go.
