I know the power of this work, I love to hear the impact these conversations have. Okay, let's get into it. So where I am in New South Wales, we're about to start school holidays. And just going for a run and just had this thought around how I now know how to properly switch off for the, for the holidays, actually, I'm just thinking now this is probably the most energized I've been leading up to a holiday even I'm generally pretty cooked both on holiday comes but I'm feeling good. Probably making sure I recharge. So I wanted to share some of those tips with you guys today. This is to make sure that you're able to fully switch off and you're able to properly recharge. So when you end up going back to your work or whatever it is that you do. You've got the energy, that the focus and the concentration to be able to get what you need to get done. So the first thing is brained up, get everything that needs to be done. For work for your finances, for your personal stuff, in the around the house, anything and everything, get it all written down and get it out of your head. This is totally worth the 30 minutes, tops that this process will take getting all out of your head getting that clarity and then detaching from it. And if you think of things later, if you think of ideas later, keep adding to the list, the more you can get out of your head, the more space, mental rest, you're gonna get on your break. Okay, secondly, make sure you get time away from your kids. Even if you've got adult kids, just make sure you've got time, firstly, for yourself. And then secondly, with your partner, so important to recharge to reset. And to have that time, we're not going to be disturbed where you can switch off. You know, personally, I can do this really, really easily I've got really good at just been How to detach. I know, for my wife and a lot of moms that I speak to I can feel guilty within this, then what I will say to you all now is the same thing I say to the conversations I have with them is that this is going to allow you to be an even better parent. That's going to allow you to turn up and even more be more present, more connected. So making sure you get that alone time to recharge and furious to Saturday time, let's be honest, it can be relevant, especially for children younger. Social media detox is number three, delay the apps, get them off your phone, resist the temptation to download them or log on on your laptop or wherever else and take at least three days, we're not on there. It'll take some control and you'll be missing the dopamine hit for the first probably 24 to 36 hours. And then you'll start to feel better. And then by the end of three days, you'll be like, Hmm, all the spare time I've got. And you might even want to be longer than three days. And also resist that urge to take a photo because your head is saying, Oh, this will be great to post slider. Or I shouldn't post this or here's an event that people should say whatever it is. So detach. resist that urge catch yourself if you have that urge and just be present. To be one for no brainer, get out in nature. Get away from your devices, the TV your house, there's nothing like being away from your home, to give you energy to allow you to switch off. So get out in nature. It's such a recharging exercise. Whether it's the beach or the bush, walking on a trail, whatever. Just somewhere it's quiet. It's chilled. You can hear the sounds the energy, it's just yeah, it's a great the longer you can do that over you holiday time, the better. find stillness is number five, close your eyes. In a place where you won't be disturbed when you can be quiet, where you can just focus on your breath for at least 10 minutes and do this every single day of your break. You might think that sounds a bit like meditation. Well, kind of That's right. So whether you think you can meditate or not just this exercise in stillness is going to have such a big positive impact for just allowing you to really detox and detach from all the other stuff that usually goes on in your day to day life. Excuse me. So the important part is making sure you're not going to be disturbed. And like I said, focus on your breath. When your mind wanders, let it wander. When you're, when you feel different parts of your body, allow yourself to feel whatever's going on. And just keep coming back to your breath, focus on your breath, slowing it down and relaxing. Sixth is grounding. Now, what's grounding, you know that when you describe people as grounded, they seem to be quite balanced, they tend to be seem to be quite centered, relaxed. But from a physical perspective, shoes off socks off fangs off, bare feet on the ground, tight on the stand, with the feet on the ground to walk. Of course, if you get to the beach, it's a great opportunity to get down to the water's edge, there's a lot of energy exchange, their body is like a battery array electromagnetic field ourselves. And we recharge at the bottom of our feet is full of nerve endings. And there's such an energy exchange some of your recharges like our battery recharging the science of it is so fascinating, have a bit of a dig into that research. It is all sorts of movies, and you'll find all sorts of information. There might be plenty of people discounting it as well, because anything that's free and people can't make money off it. And some I might try and disparage it, shall we say, but the the science is there, it's real. And from a personal perspective, it's an absolute game changer. So grounding. Seven is dream. Take some time over your break, to allow your mind to wander and wonder what your life will look like in the future. Think of everything that you would love to have in your life every day, and write it down. No restrictions, no complications, no what could go wrong, what this is assuming you have all the money, all the resources you could ever need, and just delay monitoring, get creative. The process in itself will allow more, your unconscious brain will start searching for more of what it is that you want. It's not going to guarantee you all the things you dream of, but it is going to stimulate creativity, it's going to stimulate action, it's gonna get you excited, and it's going to get you thinking in a different way. And who knows some of those dreams that maybe you thought were out of your reach will start getting appearing closer. And maybe some of them will come through much, much quicker than you could have ever imagined. This stuff works right. So give yourself space to dream. Eight is plan to have a look at your next three months after your break. And what are the top three things you want to achieve? Put a bit of detail in the right as many steps as you can think of what resources you will need. So you've got an idea. Again, the unconscious mind loves clarity, and it will give you more focus, and you'll get better results. So if you do a handful of these things, you're gonna get a pretty good break and you'll switch off, do all of them and you will come back from your break fired up and ready to take on your next three months. Prioritize yourself through this be totally worth it. I hope you enjoyed this episode of The Grief Code podcast. Thank you so much for listening.
