Welcome to the mesmerizing marketing podcast, where we take a deep dive

Speaker:

Speaker:

the top resources you need to thrive and make your marketing mesmerized.

Speaker:

And now here's your host dimple.

Speaker:

Dang.

Speaker:

Hello, everybody happy new year and 2022 is here just like that.

Speaker:

And today we are going to be talking about why you never end up

Speaker:

keeping your new year's resolutions.

Speaker:

How many years have you had where you make any resolution

Speaker:

and you're determined to keep it.

Speaker:

And then February comes around and you already have broken

Speaker:

most of your resolutions.

Speaker:

So I'm going to tell you guys why that doesn't work.

Speaker:

The reason why that doesn't work.

Speaker:

Is because you shouldn't be making year's resolutions, you should actually

Speaker:

be making new years goals, right?

Speaker:

Because if you make a goal and you make a goal, that's achievable and

Speaker:

attainable, you're actually going to be able to accomplish that.

Speaker:

But when you start off the new year and you just want to conquer the world, you

Speaker:

guys know what feeling I'm talking about.

Speaker:

You want to do everything.

Speaker:

You want to lose weight.

Speaker:

You want to be a better husband or wife.

Speaker:

You want to spend more time with.

Speaker:

You want to grow your business.

Speaker:

You want to dedicate more time to working on your own marketing and branding.

Speaker:

And basically you just want to do so many things.

Speaker:

What happens is before you can even begin, you end up becoming overwhelmed.

Speaker:

And when you're overwhelmed, nothing really happens and

Speaker:

you get nothing accomplished.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Today, I'm going to share with you guys the strategy that I use.

Speaker:

And I also teach my clients how to have a amazing 20, 22.

Speaker:

So the key is to take the whole year and break it up into four parts.

Speaker:

So by four parts, I mean four quarters, Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4.

Speaker:

So when you're going to sit down and write your goals and resolutions,

Speaker:

and maybe you've done this whole.

Speaker:

Just scratch, whatever you've done so far, whatever you do in that first weekend,

Speaker:

it may not be ideal because you are just being overly ambitious with what you're

Speaker:

going to attain, and you're putting it on a list of like 10, 20 things.

Speaker:

And then you get overwhelmed because you don't have a plan for how you're

Speaker:

going to achieve those things.

Speaker:

So let's do this instead.

Speaker:

Get out a sheet of paper tonight, or whenever you have time and write down.

Speaker:

Three things you want to accomplish in Q1 and start there once you do

Speaker:

that, if you want to see your whole year at a glance, you can do the

Speaker:

same thing for Q2, for Q3 and Q4.

Speaker:

And what you want to do is you want to take Q1 and you want to

Speaker:

divide it up into a 90 day period.

Speaker:

And when you do the 90 days, you want to.

Speaker:

Take three of those goals that you have, and you want to sign one too.

Speaker:

Each month are, you can assign all three to the first month.

Speaker:

If it's something that you need to start working on and you need to have

Speaker:

a plan and buy a plan, I also mean that you need to hold yourself accountable.

Speaker:

So you're the only person that's responsible for you.

Speaker:

And if you need help with that accountability, what I suggest you do.

Speaker:

You partner up with another friend will also wants to

Speaker:

accomplish their goals for 2022.

Speaker:

And you say, Hey, it would be so much fun to do this together.

Speaker:

And I know your goals might be different than mine, but maybe we can do like a

Speaker:

weekly check-in and we can ask each other.

Speaker:

What steps have you taken this week that are getting you closer to you?

Speaker:

Goal closer to achieving everything that you want to for 2022.

Speaker:

So I think having that accountability partner is going to make all the

Speaker:

difference, because if you are just trying to do it alone, and sometimes

Speaker:

also, if you're an entrepreneur, you feel isolated, you feel like,

Speaker:

you know, you're on an island.

Speaker:

everyone's working remotely now because of the pandemic.

Speaker:

And that's probably going to continue that way.

Speaker:

And I think there's a lot of advantages to that too, all the

Speaker:

time that you save in traffic.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

But.

Speaker:

I think it comes down to step one, write everything down, but break

Speaker:

it up into quarters and then be accountable to yourself because no

Speaker:

one else is really going to notice if you achieved your goals or not.

Speaker:

But at the end of 2022, you're going to notice your bank account is going

Speaker:

to notice and it's going to impact.

Speaker:

Next year, it's going to impact your future.

Speaker:

It's going to impact your retirement.

Speaker:

So what I encourage you to do is to hold yourself accountable.

Speaker:

And then the other thing is that you also need to not be too hard on yourself.

Speaker:

Some of you are very hard on yourself and you know, it, some of you have imposter

Speaker:

syndrome and you know it, and the thing about being too hard on yourself is that.

Speaker:

It's going to end everything before it even begins.

Speaker:

Silver member.

Speaker:

What I'm telling you right now, you have to give yourself grace, just like you

Speaker:

give other people, grace, you have to give yourself grace, you have to love

Speaker:

yourself enough to say, I love myself.

Speaker:

I respect myself and you know what?

Speaker:

Maybe I failed at something last year, right?

Speaker:

Maybe, and maybe.

Speaker:

That's okay.

Speaker:

Maybe that was meant to happen because it was the path that you were

Speaker:

supposed to go through in order to get a learning lesson out of that.

Speaker:

So think about it in terms of a learning lesson, what can you learn?

Speaker:

That's going to help you elevate your business, yourself, your brand,

Speaker:

your life, to the next level, every situation where you get a roadblock and.

Speaker:

Don't look at that as a roadblock, look at that as an opportunity to

Speaker:

really learn some valuable lesson from what happened, because if you can see

Speaker:

a valuable lesson in everything that happens on a day to day basis, and your

Speaker:

mindset is in the right place, it's going to make all the difference of

Speaker:

achieving your dreams and goals in 2022.

Speaker:

So.

Speaker:

Let's talk about mindset for a moment, because I think your mindset

Speaker:

also needs to be right in order to accomplish your goals for 2022.

Speaker:

Now, if you notice I'm not using the word resolutions a lot.

Speaker:

And for many years, I used to, I used to say, oh, I'm going to make this resolution

Speaker:

and that resolution and this resolution, well, let me tell you something.

Speaker:

I have not even made any resolutions yet or any.

Speaker:

And that's intentional because I didn't want to do it on the first or the second.

Speaker:

I wanted some time to marinate on it and do it when I feel ready.

Speaker:

So I'm probably going to do it this coming weekend, but that's because I

Speaker:

want to do it when I have a clear mind.

Speaker:

And I feel that I'm ready, not do it based on what other people

Speaker:

expect and what other people think.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

So I think we also have to stop thinking about what everyone else thinks.

Speaker:

And we have to start thinking about what we think about

Speaker:

and why it's important to us.

Speaker:

2022 is also the year where you need to set some boundaries.

Speaker:

Because if you don't set boundaries, you're going to have

Speaker:

no time left over for yourself.

Speaker:

To build that dream business that you want to achieve.

Speaker:

Everything that you've wanted to achieve and boundaries are really important.

Speaker:

So boundaries are important with your family, with your children at work,

Speaker:

with your friends, with strangers, with acquaintances, and you have to be able

Speaker:

to set boundaries when you know that someone is just taking advantage of

Speaker:

your time, because time is valuable and your time is money and do not give away.

Speaker:

All of your time for free in 2022, you've got knowledge that no one else has.

Speaker:

You have information and skills in your unique practice, area,

Speaker:

niche, unique industry, whatever it is that you happen to do.

Speaker:

And you can't just always give that information away for free.

Speaker:

Of course you can give some information for free create videos, all that

Speaker:

grow your brand, but ultimately you need to value yourself and.

Speaker:

And when you value yourself enough in 2022, that confidence that you

Speaker:

get from valuing yourself, that's going to help you achieve your goals.

Speaker:

That's going to be the difference between having a stellar 20, 22 and

Speaker:

having a so-so or mediocre 2022.

Speaker:

And so-so is not for you.

Speaker:

If you're listening to my podcast, you probably have the same mindset.

Speaker:

And that is about being extra ordinary.

Speaker:

That is about achieving all that you can achieve.

Speaker:

So I encourage you to start thinking about things in a way that you've

Speaker:

never thought about them before.

Speaker:

And I think you have to hold yourself accountable.

Speaker:

You have to set goals for yourself, not big goals that are this big, but set

Speaker:

goals for yourself that are realistic.

Speaker:

They can still be big.

Speaker:

But I mean is like, don't set so many goals that you accomplish nothing, right?

Speaker:

Set goals in the order of priority that would have the most impact.

Speaker:

So when you're setting your goals also, and you're going to think about

Speaker:

what should I do in Q1 versus Q2 Q3, Q4 Q1 should be the basic foundation.

Speaker:

That should be the foundation that you're going to build everything else off of.

Speaker:

So I encourage you in Q1.

Speaker:

To sit down and think about really the most important things.

Speaker:

Think about something that you've been wanting to do for a while.

Speaker:

So maybe you wanted to launch a podcast and you never did it.

Speaker:

And there could be a million reasons why you didn't do it.

Speaker:

Timing is everything.

Speaker:

Maybe it was imposter syndrome.

Speaker:

Maybe you don't know how maybe you don't like your voice, whatever it is.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

And then there's being on camera.

Speaker:

I don't even like being on camera.

Speaker:

But you know what?

Speaker:

You have to do things that make you a little bit uncomfortable.

Speaker:

Sometimes the things that make you uncomfortable, if you can push

Speaker:

through and you can do those things, what's going to end up happening is

Speaker:

it's going to take you to greater Heights that you've never seen before.

Speaker:

It's very, very transformational.

Speaker:

So think about it in those ways.

Speaker:

You really need to.

Speaker:

Take 20, 22.

Speaker:

And you need to really do things differently.

Speaker:

Don't do the same things you did last year, because if you do the

Speaker:

same things that you did last year, you're going to have the same results.

Speaker:

So last year, if you sat down on January 1st and you made a list of

Speaker:

all these resolutions and promises to yourself and you ended up

Speaker:

keeping none of them, that is why.

Speaker:

So I encourage.

Speaker:

To make goals to yourself and to make them achievable, to write them down, to

Speaker:

even paste them in your office, right.

Speaker:

Paste them in your bedroom and do that.

Speaker:

The other thing I'm going to give you, so go get a pen and paper right

Speaker:

now, or just rewind and listen to this again is you want to do something

Speaker:

called writing a letter to your.

Speaker:

And this is really, really a powerful hack that I learned

Speaker:

from someone many years ago.

Speaker:

And for everyone that I've shared this strategy with it has worked for them.

Speaker:

So what you do is you get out a piece of paper when you're in a quiet place and

Speaker:

you would write a letter to yourself.

Speaker:

So let's say that hypothetically, right?

Speaker:

Let's say today or January.

Speaker:

And you would write this letter and you would date it February 1st and

Speaker:

basically write the letter to yourself.

Speaker:

So like I'm dimple.

Speaker:

And I would say today I woke up feeling so excited that I achieved my goal on

Speaker:

launching my fifth podcast, for example.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

I feel so excited that I also have been working hard to eat

Speaker:

healthier and I lost five.

Speaker:

So, whatever it is, you're going to write it down as if you've already achieved

Speaker:

it as if you already have those things.

Speaker:

And what you're going to do is you're going to write this letter to

Speaker:

yourself and you're going to write it in this very positive tone, filled

Speaker:

with joy that you woke up feeling excited because it is February 1st.

Speaker:

And you have.

Speaker:

Done so many things in January that you're so excited about and you need

Speaker:

to name those things in great detail.

Speaker:

You can take this letter, you're going to paste it by maybe even

Speaker:

on your computer, put it in your office, put it in the bedroom.

Speaker:

But what you have to do for this to work is you have to read

Speaker:

this letter every single time.

Speaker:

Every single day and every single evening before you go to bed.

Speaker:

And what happens is your brain is going to get programmed to think a different way.

Speaker:

And it's going to actually happen.

Speaker:

A lot of the things that you write in the letter are going to come true.

Speaker:

Well, everything come true.

Speaker:

But if you have like a list of things, and even if half of those

Speaker:

things, half of the goals come true, that's like an accomplishment.

Speaker:

That's something that you can truly be happy about.

Speaker:

So what I'm saying is start doing things with intention and not just doing things

Speaker:

because you think, oh, it's January 1st and I'm supposed to be making resolutions.

Speaker:

You're not supposed to be doing anything.

Speaker:

You have the freedom to live your life.

Speaker:

However you want, you're an adult and you make the decisions and you live by them.

Speaker:

So I encourage you to break everything up into quarters and then take the quarters,

Speaker:

break them up into 30 day increments.

Speaker:

And I can tell you that that strategy is going to take you away further

Speaker:

this year than anything else.

Speaker:

And even if it seems like a really big.

Speaker:

To do it for the whole year.

Speaker:

You don't have to do it for the whole year, start today and do it for Q1.

Speaker:

Do it for the first 90 days, a 20, 22, and write down in those first

Speaker:

90 days, what it is that you really, really, truly want to achieve.

Speaker:

But then also write down a plan of how you're going to achieve that.

Speaker:

Like, if you need to make a certain amount of money, Or you want to make a

Speaker:

certain amount of money, write down how many clients you need to make that money.

Speaker:

How many sales do you need?

Speaker:

What do you need to get those sales?

Speaker:

Do you need to hire more salespeople?

Speaker:

Do you need to get a bigger team?

Speaker:

Do you need to invest in more marketing?

Speaker:

Do you need to start creating Instagram reels and Tik TOK?

Speaker:

Like what is it that you need to do?

Speaker:

And when you have an action plan that.

Speaker:

Take action on, you're going to realize, it's gonna make it so much easy to go

Speaker:

from point a to point B to point C.

Speaker:

So I hope you found this episode resource wall, and I don't want you to

Speaker:

be breaking any of your resolutions.

Speaker:

So don't write resolutions.

Speaker:

I don't want to hear those.

Speaker:

I want you to write your goals for 2020.

Speaker:

And I want you to write a plan on how you're going to achieve those goals.

Speaker:

And I want you to go into it with the right mindset.

Speaker:

I want you to be confident.

Speaker:

I want you to find an accountability partner.

Speaker:

If that's something that will help you.

Speaker:

And I want you to write this letter to yourself, and then my emails in

Speaker:

the show notes, send me an email.

Speaker:

Let me know how that worked out for you, because I am telling

Speaker:

you, you want to make sure.

Speaker:

That you do things differently this year.

Speaker:

And you also want to make sure that you're doing things that make you uncomfortable.

Speaker:

If you are not uncomfortable, you're not pushing yourself hard enough.

Speaker:

You've got to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Speaker:

I'm going to say it again, get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Speaker:

When you do that, it's going to elevate you to levels

Speaker:

that you cannot even imagine.

Speaker:

And that is the power of.

Speaker:

Uh, pushing through when you just don't even want to keep going, but

Speaker:

you push through and you do things sometimes that you don't want to do.

Speaker:

But if, you know, if it's for your good, if you know, it's a good thing, if you

Speaker:

know, it's something that you've been wanting to do, but you're just scared.

Speaker:

Go ahead and do it, do it, scared.

Speaker:

Do it anyway.

Speaker:

And what's going to happen is you're going to be going through this journey.

Speaker:

Where you're going to grow as a person, you're going to become more confident.

Speaker:

You're going to become more powerful.

Speaker:

And the next time you have to do something scary, it's not going to be scary anymore.

Speaker:

It's actually going to be fun.

Speaker:

And that is what it's about.

Speaker:

So in 2022, reprogram your mindset, reprogram your brain, reprogram

Speaker:

how you look at a new year in terms of resolutions versus.

Speaker:

Focus on the goals and you know, what make it the best year ever.

Speaker:

Love you guys.
