In this episode of Solid Ground, Simon shares some of the insights on classical education from a recent conference he attending, noting how the past has a lot to teach us today . Simon also discusses recent research from the University of Auckland around cultural competency and nursing. The researchers found outcomes for patients was no better – and sometimes worse – from nurses with higher levels of cultural competency. Simon discusses the importance of respect but also that this finding is unsurprising, as training should be first and foremost about the clinical skills needed.
