Shownotes

Welcome to another episode of Fantasy Island, where the only thing more inflated than Bombo and King's egos are their predictions! This week, we're throwing you some gems for your Week 2 fantasy football matchups, because we know you didn't do so well in Week 1. #NoJudgment

🎯 Bombo is (trying not to be) all about the Raiders vs. Buffalo, where he sees a #JoshAllenRenaissance happening. We know, we know, Josh threw four picks in his first game. We're concerned too, but Bombo thinks it's just Josh's way of keeping things interesting. 🎲

🏹King is busy hyping up the Kansas City and Jacksonville game, predicting Patrick Mahomes will bounce back like a rubber ball after his first-ever Week 1 loss. Yep, Mahomes is about to make Jacksonville his personal playground. #MahomesMadness

🤔Confused about the KC backfield? So are we! Pacheco, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, McKinnon? It's like a "Choose Your Own Adventure," but every choice might lead you to fantasy doom.

😏 Oh, and if you're holding out for a consistent KC wide receiver other than Kelsey, keep dreaming. Andy Reid doesn't care about your fantasy team. #SorryNotSorry

Tune in to hear Bombo and King make bold predictions, desperate stretches, and unintentional comedy gold. By the end, you'll be more confused but at least entertained. 🤷‍♂️ #FantasyFollies

Don't miss this episode. Or do. We don't really care, but your fantasy team might. 🏆

Week 2 Fantasy Matchups: Set It or Regret It

King: Alright, back at it Fantasy Island. We got our fantasy matchups for week two. That's right, Bombo and King are going to throw a couple fantasy matchups at you guys. What's going on Bombo? You ready for your fantasy matchup? We got you doing Buffalo against the Las Vegas Raiders, baby. Just win. You got it Bombo? Take it away.

Bombo: I got it. I'm going to try not to be a homer on this one. The first place Las Vegas Raiders versus Buffalo coming off of a three turnover game against the Zach Wilson Jets. I think this has the potential to have some good fantasy matchups, some good points scored. Um, unfortunately for us Raider fans, it may come at the expense of our defense because I see Josh Allen really having a blow up game in this one.

There's going to be opportunities for Gabe Davis to take the top off of the defense. I know that the Raiders secondary is ready right now with Trayvon Moerig being out so far all week of practice. Um, also keep note that Devontae Adams and Jacoby Myers have been missing practice. But for Devante, I heard it's more of a maintenance thing. Jacoby's in concussion protocol, took a really nasty hit coming off of an eight catch, two touchdown performance against Denver Garoppolo is as long as he has his receivers.

I think Garoppolo has a nice 15, 16 point floor with the ability to put up about over 25. But I think the real story in this matchup is probably going to be Josh Allen and the receivers that he has. Um, I don't really see. Too much of the Kincaid breakout game, just because they're not going to really need it.

I think the receivers will get it done. If anything, if it gets out of hand, we also may see James cook blow up for them. I expect touchdowns coming from digs. I expect touchdowns coming from Gabe Davis and Josh Allen throwing for two and running for one. That would be icing on the cake if James Cook can get into the end zone as well, just so it gets Buffalo right.

See Buffalo winning the game, but I also see the Raiders putting up a good fight. I'm waiting for Josh Jacobs to blow up. If they commit to the run to set up that play action to Devontae, I think the Raiders can score in big plays. They just need to not turn the ball over and that's what they brought Jimmy Garoppolo in for.

So I expect a really high scoring game just because both defenses seem to be really suspect right now. Give the edge to Buffalo with Josh Allen coming out as one of the must starts with one of the bigger performances a week to

King: No, definitely. And I think that Buffalo is not going to be it. The Jets have a really good defense and people are going to find that out during the year. And I think that Josh Allen should bounce back because I don't think Las Vegas has the defensive personnel that Buffalo does. I mean, I'm sorry that I do not think that the Las Vegas Raiders have the defensive personnel that the Jets have. So Buffalo is going to do a lot better offensively. But man, I just I'm worried. Bombo man, I'm worried about our boy Josh Allen. I like me some Josh Allen, but Since Debo left, he really hasn't been doing well, and he threw four picks in his first game. He had a lot of picks last year, too, and it just concerned me.

Bombo: Yeah, what we're expecting from Josh Allen is that number two quarterback behind Mahomes for fantasy purposes? He didn't show it that first time but who do you got for your fantasy

King: Casey and Jacksonville is a big matchup, and I want to talk about those guys right now. Obviously, Patrick Mahomes didn't do as good as we thought he was going to do. He definitely had a bigger test than he thought against Detroit. Detroit put up a really good game in that, you know, week one game and actually sneaked out to win.

So knowing that they lost for the first time in four or five years and, you know, since Patrick Mahomes has been in his first week one loss, I'm pretty sure they're going to come back with a vengeance. Sorry Jacksonville, you're in for it a little bit. I think they're going to step it up. I think maybe Travis Kelsey should be playing. Still limited in practice of time with this recording. We're recording on Wednesday. We tried to find something that would give us a little bit of a sneak peek, but he was running around the sidelines on Thursday night's game. He wasn't in a boot. He wasn't like upstairs sitting down, nothing like that. So I, I, I think he's going to play. And I don't know how effective he'll be, but I think it's even just his presence on the field is going to help him. But I think on both sides of the ball, the fantasy guys that they have make it such an enamored type of, of matchup. You have Calvin Ridley, you have Christian Kirk. You have Etienne that did well. Tank Bigsby got a little bit of run. You got the golden boy Trevor Lawrence throwing him the ball. He's actually throwing the ball really well. To me, when I saw him missing his throws, he was missing all his throws high. So to me, that was just like he was, had too much adrenaline. He was just firing the ball too hard, too. On a couple drops. So I think he was just pumped up. He's a big dude. Maybe a little bit too much creatine in his shake that morning. I don't know, Doug. But I like me both sides on this.

You know, I like some Patrick Mahomes. I like Trevor Lawrence. I definitely love Calvin Ridley. Calvin Ridley's back. You know, he had a great game. His catches, you know, 100 yards over 100 yards and a touchdown. I know he only had one catch after the first half, but guy, he, he's just, he's special. And Christian Kirk's gonna have a decent game cause he's gonna step up. There, there's windows in that defense that they can exploit. And I really see Jacksonville exploiting those things. On the other hand, I think Kansas City's defense is decent. But Kansas City's gonna have to put points up on the board too and they're gonna be at home. And they're gonna be embarrassed again. They just came off of an opening day where they got their rings presented to them, all their shit, and they went out and lost. So you know what, man? I'm looking forward to a good game. I like matchups on both sides. I think both of those teams are gonna be high scoring. So I'd start guys on both sides. Trevor Lawrence, if you got him, Pat Mahomes, if you got him, I'm sorry, Patrick Mahomes, if you got him. Etienne, I think the thing that I want you to talk about with me, Bumble, and I need a little help with is the backfield in Kansas City. What would you do there, man? It's a fantasy owner.

Bombo: It was weird because Clyde Edward Solaire got the first couple carries in the Detroit game So he was the de facto starter. They didn't Even line McKinnon up in those third down situations, they were bringing in Pacheco for those. And he also got some check downs, which we didn't really see out of Pacheco last year.

I think that it's a wait and see approach with Kansas city's backfield. But if you are a Pacheco owner, you like to see that he's catching passes now out of the backfield and design plays as a first read. That's what was missing from him last year. And I think when it all said and done the younger legs and just.

The harder runner is going to prevail. And that's going to be Pacheco. I think by week six, we might see him in like a bell cow row

King: And it's tough to really see it, but I mean, Pacheco got like, I want to say 52 percent of the snaps or something, but it just didn't seem right. I don't know. And I like me some Pacheco. He's definitely going to be the best running back they got. They're going to keep using them, I think at a higher rate, but I think there's going to be games where the other guys shine too. So I think we just got to keep an eye on that. And I'm probably going to leave their backfield alone as far as they're receiving core Bamba. Is there anybody out in Kansas city other than sky more, maybe the Rishi rice, anybody else there is Valdez Scanlon worth a little bit of a piece here in this game or. What would you be doing if you were managing a roster and had a couple of those guys on your roster?

Bombo: to tell you the truth. King. I think the best receiver for Kansas city is whoever catches the ball from Patrick Mahomes when he throws the touchdown. That's like they do it by receiver by committee, which is weird. Cause anybody could have that blow up game and that, and everybody else either puts up a goose egg.

And as long as they're winning games, everyone's fine with it. Andy Reed does not really care about your fantasy team. Uh, I think we're waiting to see if there will be a number one ride receiver, kind of like what we had with Tyreek Hill. The reality is it's Travis Kelsey. And when Travis Kelsey isn't there.

They do everything they can to scheme other guys open, and it's hard to figure out who's gonna be that guy, and that's the way Andy Reid likes it. I would still put my money on Sky more at the end of the year being the most fantasy relevant receiver

King: And I hope so. I think he has the most upside. He's a talented kid and I really want to see him get more involved in that offense. I hope they make him a bigger part of that. But that's going to wrap up our fantasy matchup for week two for Bombo, for King, for the Fantasy Island crew. Sweet T, we are out.
