John Ball:I know you are going to too.
John Ball:And with that said, let's get on with the show.
John Ball:Today I am very happy to welcome to the Pod Fluence virtual studio of
John Ball:my special guest, Angela Henderson.
John Ball:Angela, welcome to the show.
Angela Henderson:Hey.
Angela Henderson:Hey my friend.
Angela Henderson:Super excited to be here, hanging out with you tonight, creating some magic.
Angela Henderson:So yes, it's gonna be awesome.
John Ball:I've so much been looking forward to speaking with you since
John Ball:our first conversation a little while ago when we got connected through our
John Ball:mutual friend Nicole Baldinu, who is an amazing person, and people who tune into
John Ball:the show will already have encountered Nicole and know how amazing she is.
John Ball:Thank you, Nicole, for introducing us.
John Ball:Now, one thing I love about this is, We are on other sides of the opposite
John Ball:sides of the planet right now, and we get to come on a call like this
John Ball:and have a conversation and hopefully get some great value to people.
John Ball:It is just one of my favorite things about being a podcaster.
Angela Henderson:Well, and that's I think one of the key benefits, right, is I think
Angela Henderson:if you think about having to show up on stage, By the time you tr, and don't get
Angela Henderson:me wrong, I love a live event, right?
Angela Henderson:But by the time you've got a book airfares ski, travel insurance,
Angela Henderson:time away from your family, then you're potentially jet lagged.
Angela Henderson:I mean, the list goes on.
Angela Henderson:That podcasting is literally from the comfort of your own home.
Angela Henderson:But in addition, the magnitude of connections that you can
Angela Henderson:make and a in a lot more.
Angela Henderson:Efficient and speedier process than having to go in trouble to
Angela Henderson:50 different, you know, events.
Angela Henderson:So I am here for podcasting and I think there's so many wonderful
Angela Henderson:layers that we can talk about today.
John Ball:It allows us to be so much more productive as business owners,
John Ball:or especially if you are a speaker.
John Ball:You can be in different countries doing speeches all
John Ball:in one day without the jet lag.
John Ball:So I mean that, that's pretty wonderful.
Angela Henderson:It's a bonus.
John Ball:Definitely.
John Ball:Angela, one of the things I definitely wanted to get into straight away,
John Ball:cuz like the target audience for this show is the bus business coaches,
John Ball:business speakers, and this is very much what you do and you have a very
John Ball:particular niche, which I love actually.
John Ball:And I wanna get into a few things about, tell us who you work with,
John Ball:who, who you helping, your coaching.
Angela Henderson:I mean, ultimately I'm, I'm helping women of business to
Angela Henderson:create more wealth is what I'm doing.
Angela Henderson:And I'm doing that through personal strategy and by mastering their mindset.
Angela Henderson:And specifically I'm working with the online business space, particularly
Angela Henderson:obviously service-based businesses.
Angela Henderson:But I do also once in a while still work with doctors, lawyers,
Angela Henderson:accountants, and things like that who don't have courses or aren't really
Angela Henderson:in that online traditional space.
Angela Henderson:And what I love is just the ability that the online world allows us to be able to
Angela Henderson:coach such a variety of human beings from copywriters, mindset coaches, different
Angela Henderson:spirituality modalities, et cetera.
Angela Henderson:And so for me it's as people look at me as a consultant slash coach, 75% consultant,
Angela Henderson:25% coach, is that I'm here to really get a bird's eye view of your business,
Angela Henderson:and I'm here to go and what do we keep?
Angela Henderson:What do we let go of based on what's in alignment for them?
Angela Henderson:So often I continue to see business strategy, so cookie cutter,
Angela Henderson:and people wonder why they're the same spot a year from now.
Angela Henderson:I'm very big about going deep, looking at alignment, looking at what strategy
Angela Henderson:will work for you, and looking at things from home life, community, and your
Angela Henderson:business, because if you only look at one thing in isolation, you're going to
Angela Henderson:again, set yourself up for self-sabotage because you can't have a business
Angela Henderson:in isolation from the other things.
Angela Henderson:So, yeah.
Angela Henderson:But ultimately working with women in business to make more money.
John Ball:Yeah.
John Ball:And one of the things that I noticed, and it's, they're in your LinkedIn profile for
John Ball:anyone who goes and checks that out, and I'll make sure there's a link to that in
John Ball:the show notes for people, but you've also been helping people who are maybe feeling
John Ball:a bit crispy from the whole experience.
John Ball:It burnt out by it all is, uh, and working with the, the mindset to, I guess, to
John Ball:avoid that and to be able to have the success without that h how, how big
John Ball:an issue has that become for people?
Angela Henderson:Well listen, I mean, first of all, it's
Angela Henderson:about how we define burnout.
Angela Henderson:Typically when I see in, so I'm very big.
Angela Henderson:I'm very anti hussle.
Angela Henderson:However, I do believe businesses still need to work hard in order to be able
Angela Henderson:to hit the figures that they want.
Angela Henderson:You just can't sit there and go, kumbaya, drop a Lamborghini on my ass.
Angela Henderson:Right?
Angela Henderson:You still have to take action.
Angela Henderson:You still need to have strategy, but it will still work.
Angela Henderson:But I'm not against, I'm against when people are literally grinding
Angela Henderson:24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Angela Henderson:Because what I then see is over once little bit, I'm an ex mental
Angela Henderson:health clinician of 15 years, so I used to diagnose people with
Angela Henderson:schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, bipolar, D H D, et cetera.
Angela Henderson:So I'm very familiar with what the signs are.
Angela Henderson:So when I start working with entrepreneurs and I start seeing
Angela Henderson:them in the hustle culture, I'm like, listen, you've gotta make some choices.
Angela Henderson:Because what will happen is you'll ultimately start off with stress.
Angela Henderson:That leads into burnout, and then it will lead into a full-blown
Angela Henderson:mental health diagnosis.
Angela Henderson:And I'm like, once your brain has an initial either a psychotic break
Angela Henderson:or a mental break, whatever that looks like for you is your brain
Angela Henderson:will never fire off the same way.
Angela Henderson:So you don't wanna compromise how the brain is firing.
Angela Henderson:So for me is it's, when I think about burnout though, even though burnout leads
Angela Henderson:to the full diagnosis, is often I ask the people that I work with is, on a scale of
Angela Henderson:one to 10, how burnt out are you feeling?
Angela Henderson:10 being the most and zero being not burnt out.
Angela Henderson:And they're like, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
Angela Henderson:And I'm like, okay, really?
Angela Henderson:Burnout equals your unaligned.
Angela Henderson:So if you're unaligned, where in either your business, your home
Angela Henderson:life, are you community unaligned In business, often where I see people are
Angela Henderson:unaligned and they're feeling burnt out is they're creating courses, but
Angela Henderson:they don't actually wanna do courses.
Angela Henderson:They're told to show up on Instagram or even to create a podcast, but
Angela Henderson:that's not what they wanna do.
Angela Henderson:So I have to help people almost find themselves again and stop consuming all
Angela Henderson:of this content and all this media where then they're left so confused that they
Angela Henderson:try and start doing everything versus focusing on what's in alignment for them.
Angela Henderson:So again, if you are right now feeling burnt out, I can guarantee
Angela Henderson:you more than likely it has to do with your business model.
Angela Henderson:Or you might be staying with a partner, for example, and you
Angela Henderson:actually should be divorced.
Angela Henderson:Okay, that's pretty drastic, but.
Angela Henderson:That's what happened with me.
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:Or you know, there's uh, community, you've got friends or family who don't
Angela Henderson:actually understand entrepreneurship and every time you're around them,
Angela Henderson:they're bringing you down and whatever.
Angela Henderson:So that's how I look at alignment, uh, in the conjunction with burning out.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
John Ball:Which is fantastic.
John Ball:And I think I certainly walk fine lines sometimes between, between sort of burnout
John Ball:and working hard and so other alignment.
John Ball:What's the difference between working hard?
John Ball:And hustle.
John Ball:Mm-hmm.
Angela Henderson:To you.
Angela Henderson:So to me, hustle is where.
Angela Henderson:You compromise everything, you, it almost, the hustle becomes
Angela Henderson:an addiction, in my opinion.
Angela Henderson:Everything revolves around waking up, doing the next podcast, doing the next.
Angela Henderson:You didn't mean speaking thing.
Angela Henderson:Doing the next, like just your grinding, grinding, grinding, grinding.
Angela Henderson:I believe hustles.
Angela Henderson:When you start forgetting about the people you love the most, you start
Angela Henderson:neglecting your loved ones, children, spouses, partners, moms, dads, whatever.
Angela Henderson:You start eating bad, right?
Angela Henderson:Because you're just hustle, like hustle, hustle.
Angela Henderson:So when you do eat, you're just driving to McDonald's or, or also the addiction
Angela Henderson:side from an alcohol side, right?
Angela Henderson:You're just, you know, you're working and you're throwing back a beer or.
Angela Henderson:You know, you're on the cocaine.
Angela Henderson:I see that often too, right?
Angela Henderson:It'll just keep people up or the truman marijuana to just zone out man.
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:And so for me, that hustle is, is if you start to get to hustle, normally I see
Angela Henderson:a direct correlation with some sort of addictive type behaviors, relationships
Angela Henderson:starting to fall down, and you're just, your, your overall spiritual, mental,
Angela Henderson:and physical wellbeing is compromised.
John Ball:I think that's a great distinction, and it's something
John Ball:that I've written about before, so anyone who listens to this and also
John Ball:follows my blog will also know that I've spoken about this as well.
John Ball:I think I, I certainly say similar things in a different way, but I
John Ball:really love how you, how you sum that up there, and I think that's a great
John Ball:distinction to me in terms of what you're doing now in terms more of helping
John Ball:women, particularly to create more, more money through their businesses.
John Ball:Why has that become, important for you?
John Ball:Why is that your target area?
Angela Henderson:Yep.
Angela Henderson:So let me first start talking about when I say healthy women make more money.
Angela Henderson:Hell yes.
Angela Henderson:I want women to make more money.
Angela Henderson:Why?
Angela Henderson:Because I believe that and it, the data shows that when women make money,
Angela Henderson:they typically will then redistribute it back into society, whether or not
Angela Henderson:that's through local society or like an international, broader societal.
Angela Henderson:Do you know what I mean?
Angela Henderson:Output.
Angela Henderson:And so knowing that is, that's to me super powerful because significant
Angela Henderson:change in impact can be made by that.
Angela Henderson:All right?
Angela Henderson:And this isn't just me picking on males, like the data shows this.
Angela Henderson:It's not me Angela Henderson making a quote up.
Angela Henderson:It's the data.
Angela Henderson:So I really want women to make a bigger difference in the world collectively,
Angela Henderson:but when I also talk about women making more money, another thing that
Angela Henderson:I talk often about on my own podcast too, is about overall wealth creation.
Angela Henderson:So often in the online business space, coaching space and speaking space, all
Angela Henderson:we're doing is chasing the next dollar.
Angela Henderson:Everything is about dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar, dollar.
Angela Henderson:And again, what happens is people forget about the other wealth buckets.
Angela Henderson:And what I mean by other wealth buckets is their spiritual wealth, their mental
Angela Henderson:wealth, their relationship wealth, their X, Y, and Z wealth, right?
Angela Henderson:And then what happens then is again, they compromise their
Angela Henderson:overall happiness because.
Angela Henderson:They might be making six figure months, or you mean seven figure years or whatever.
Angela Henderson:But again, their other wealth buckets are so depleted that they're actually unhappy.
Angela Henderson:And I work with a lot of women who they show up and on paper
Angela Henderson:everything looks amazing, right?
Angela Henderson:The car, the house is whatever, but they're the unhappiest
Angela Henderson:people that you will ever meet.
Angela Henderson:Why?
Angela Henderson:Because their wealth distribution buckets are not firing.
Angela Henderson:And when I also talked about women about making more money, the other thing too is,
Angela Henderson:again, I've already said this, that they associate it with like the online space.
Angela Henderson:I'm also about women, men creating wealth as in revenue, wealth and like, what's
Angela Henderson:your investment property portfolio?
Angela Henderson:What's your stock market?
Angela Henderson:What are your NFTs?
Angela Henderson:What are your cryptos?
Angela Henderson:What is like, what else did I mean, could you have, because.
Angela Henderson:The online space though, there's an enormous amount of money to be
Angela Henderson:made, we still have to be mindful.
Angela Henderson:That shit can change very quickly.
Angela Henderson:So diversifying your wealth, revenue, wealth, alright,
Angela Henderson:can really be an advantage.
Angela Henderson:But in the world we live in, a lot of us are not educated about these
Angela Henderson:other wealth diversifications.
Angela Henderson:We're not, we didn't get taught it in, and this is men and women.
Angela Henderson:We didn't get taught these things in school.
Angela Henderson:So a lot of the women that I work with, they have accountants.
Angela Henderson:The books are, do you know what I mean?
Angela Henderson:But everything's tickety boo.
Angela Henderson:But they're going from launch to launch, right?
Angela Henderson:They're, it's, and it's like that can't be sustainable.
Angela Henderson:And so again, it's, yeah.
Angela Henderson:So that's, I know it's a couple things there, but I think it's
Angela Henderson:important for me to clarify.
Angela Henderson:There's making money and revenue wealth.
Angela Henderson:But then there's also establishing yourself for wealth as in revenue
Angela Henderson:distribution into stocks or whatever.
Angela Henderson:And then there's also understanding your overall wealth buckets and that wealth.
Angela Henderson:Holistic wealth is not just about money, it's about all those, again, spiritual
Angela Henderson:wellbeing, self respect, et cetera.
John Ball:Yeah, it is interesting and I remember that there is some, someone
John Ball:else that we're both connected with, that we discovered last time that we spoke.
John Ball:Yeah.
John Ball:Jesse Ecker and, you know, I started working with his dad Harv Eker years ago
John Ball:and, and one of the things that, that Harv says is to be a success, you have to be
John Ball:a success in all of your areas because if there's one area that isn't just one
John Ball:of your key life areas, that isn't where it needs to be, is gonna pull everything
John Ball:else down and you're not gonna feel good.
John Ball:You know that life balance isn't about having everything equal.
John Ball:It's about making sure you have everything as good as it can be in each of the areas
John Ball:and pay enough attention to all of those.
John Ball:So I, I really get that message.
John Ball:You are helping.
John Ball:It's wonderful that you are helping so many people and helping
John Ball:women particularly to do this.
John Ball:Where did that lesson come from for you?
John Ball:Did you have to go out and find this education or, we fortunate
John Ball:enough to find a mentor.
Angela Henderson:For me, I mean, listen, I guess people
Angela Henderson:always ask, what's your why?
Angela Henderson:Why am I I business?
Angela Henderson:Well, I'm in business also because I've seen what wealth did to my family.
Angela Henderson:You know, my parents file bankruptcy twice.
Angela Henderson:We've got significant, you know, generational patterns that have
Angela Henderson:been going on for centuries, right?
Angela Henderson:And so, and we also have a thing called like, so it's
Angela Henderson:like transgenerational wealth.
Angela Henderson:My.
Angela Henderson:I didn't speak my mom.
Angela Henderson:I don't speak to my mom.
Angela Henderson:My mom doesn't speak to her mother.
Angela Henderson:My mom didn't like my grandmother, didn't speak to hers, right?
Angela Henderson:So it's a two combination folders.
Angela Henderson:I've seen what Transgenerational Wealth did to relationships in my
Angela Henderson:family, and I wanna be able to create time and space that I can nurture my
Angela Henderson:relationship with my daughter to break that pattern from happening for us.
Angela Henderson:But also for me, it was like I saw what bankruptcy and gambling did to my family.
Angela Henderson:So I was like, well, what can I do to come in here and help more women?
Angela Henderson:To be the change for themselves, be the change for their families, and
Angela Henderson:make a bigger impact with their money.
Angela Henderson:So I didn't learn.
Angela Henderson:I didn't have any of these skills when I started.
Angela Henderson:I had a master's in undergrad in psychology and undergrad in sociology
Angela Henderson:and a master's of social work.
Angela Henderson:I was working with people who were suicidal and homicidal, and then
Angela Henderson:I opened up one of Australia's leading educational toy stores.
Angela Henderson:I became one of the leading influencers here in Australia.
Angela Henderson:I worked with Netflix, Coles, Woolies, Hilton's Club Meds, et cetera.
Angela Henderson:Hi.
Angela Henderson:And it was through that when I started to consult with people, and it was because
Angela Henderson:of my passion about wanting to help more businesses to excel, that that's
Angela Henderson:where we, you know, where we are today.
Angela Henderson:So, so
John Ball:you have compiled your own wealth of knowledge that you've built
John Ball:up through what you've, you've tried and discovered and learned and what's
John Ball:worked and hasn't worked for you in investing in wealth creation for yourself.
John Ball:That that's amazing.
John Ball:That's an incredible story.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
Angela Henderson:Like I u I knew nothing, like, I literally thought that when you press go on a
Angela Henderson:website, people would start paying you.
Angela Henderson:Like, that's how naive I was.
Angela Henderson:And it's like, no, you now have to drive traffic.
Angela Henderson:I'm like, Well, why don't people tell you you've gotta drive traffic?
Angela Henderson:Can't they dis find you?
Angela Henderson:But it was like, that's how na I was to business, right?
Angela Henderson:But the, it was over time that I started to go, well, if I don't know this
Angela Henderson:knowledge, who does know the knowledge?
Angela Henderson:Who knows the next steps?
Angela Henderson:And women will come to me going, I need the next steps.
Angela Henderson:I need the how-tos.
Angela Henderson:So I've spent probably close now.
Angela Henderson:$800,000.
Angela Henderson:Not quite a million dollars, but probably close to $800,000
Angela Henderson:in mentoring Masterminds.
Angela Henderson:Troubling around the world to events and getting in the room where I'm
Angela Henderson:the dumbest person in the room.
Angela Henderson:Even though I'm knowledgeable I'll, I've gone to the real, where it's
Angela Henderson:like I've had to be vulnerable and be like, man, like for example,
Angela Henderson:at time of recording, I'm about to fly over to San Diego for an event.
Angela Henderson:By far, even though I make good money, these other people are
Angela Henderson:making nine, 10 million a year.
Angela Henderson:Like I wanna pull it like, and that's the other thing is, uh, John, is
Angela Henderson:I wanna, I've always pulled up a seat at the million dollar table.
Angela Henderson:I was like, no, I deserve to be at this table just as much as anyone else.
Angela Henderson:And even though I might not make the same amount as others, So many people
Angela Henderson:will come to me for consultation because they're like, the way
Angela Henderson:you see things is like a wizard.
Angela Henderson:Even Jesse Eker, did Harv's son.
Angela Henderson:He's, he was a mentor of mine this last year.
Angela Henderson:He's like, and she's like you.
Angela Henderson:It's like next level what you do, right?
Angela Henderson:So for me it is like I learned the notion of pay to play.
Angela Henderson:Pay to play and work with people who are already further along and
Angela Henderson:have been there and done that.
Angela Henderson:Because when you pay to play, you pay attention.
Angela Henderson:And I also believe that the transformation occurs when the transaction takes place.
Angela Henderson:Even if you can only afford to go to a $10 event versus going
Angela Henderson:to another free summit online.
Angela Henderson:You, you take better pride, you stand up a little bit more, you pay attention
Angela Henderson:a bit more and you start to transform.
Angela Henderson:And then once you make a little bit money, you, you might pay the $50 ticket and
Angela Henderson:then you might pay the a hundred dollars ticket and then like, that's what I did.
Angela Henderson:And then all of a sudden I was a pro blogger.
Angela Henderson:One year here in Australia, I met a gaba, the name of Chris Ducker.
Angela Henderson:He was doing a mastermind over in the Philippines.
Angela Henderson:And I was like, how much is it?
Angela Henderson:And Chris was like, it's like 10 grand.
Angela Henderson:I was like, I don't have 10 grand, but can you do payment plans?
Angela Henderson:And Chris was like, No, not really.
Angela Henderson:Buddies like, I think you're a good human.
Angela Henderson:So then I like busted my ass to be able to get to the
Angela Henderson:Philippines and there's 50 amazing entrepreneurs for around the world.
Angela Henderson:Nine of the like top entrepreneurs I've had the chance to encounter.
Angela Henderson:We're in the pool drinking mojitos and like tossing a beach ball around.
Angela Henderson:And that's when I was like, the power of pay to play.
Angela Henderson:Get in the room where you're the dumbest person and learn, make it a
Angela Henderson:priority to pay even if you can only pay $10, $20, et cetera, because you
Angela Henderson:will move so much quicker and faster.
Angela Henderson:Like it's, it's not even funny.
John Ball:Yes.
John Ball:No, that's funny as well.
John Ball:The coincidences keep on coming.
John Ball:Chris is one of my mentors.
John Ball:He's a friend.
John Ball:He's been on the show.
John Ball:Oh, yep.
John Ball:Uh, so yeah, but wonderful that you should bring him up.
John Ball:I was chatting with his daughter Chloe, just yesterday.
John Ball:Oh yeah.
Angela Henderson:Cool.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
Angela Henderson:They, they're great human beings.
Angela Henderson:Seven.
Angela Henderson:Why I, I, I love
John Ball:the, I love the synchronicities.
John Ball:Wonderful.
John Ball:Plenty between
Angela Henderson:us.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
John Ball:Isn't that, that's, it is just amazing.
John Ball:They keep coming.
John Ball:Angela, I wonder, move into, uh, because one of the things that this show really
John Ball:is, is about the heart of it, I guess.
John Ball:I mean, the show is mainly about influence and persuasion.
John Ball:Uh, but we call it Podfluence now because it's about building that out
John Ball:through podcasting, about building your authority and building your business.
John Ball:Through podcast guesting and through maybe even having your own
John Ball:show, you do both of these things.
John Ball:And let's maybe start off with you as a podcaster.
John Ball:You started about five years ago.
John Ball:What got you into podcasting and what's your journey been like
Angela Henderson:that?
Angela Henderson:Yeah, so I went to podcast.
Angela Henderson:We are podcast here in Australia and I didn't have a podcast.
Angela Henderson:John Lee Dumas was there, his wife was there.
Angela Henderson:Do you know what I mean?
Angela Henderson:They all were there.
Angela Henderson:And I was like, what is this podcasting shit?
Angela Henderson:And I was like, oh, this is cool.
Angela Henderson:And I thought by the time next year's epi, like.
Angela Henderson:Dooming conference comes around.
Angela Henderson:I wanna have a podcast launch, so I didn't know anything.
Angela Henderson:I went and bought a mic for 200 bucks.
Angela Henderson:I set it up.
Angela Henderson:I spoke with the podcast VA team, and I was like, all right, well guess we're in.
Angela Henderson:I didn't even know how to launch it, but I was like, I believe
Angela Henderson:that done is better than perfect.
Angela Henderson:So I was like, let's roll.
Angela Henderson:We're gonna roll here.
Angela Henderson:And one episode has now led to like almost 250 episodes.
Angela Henderson:We're about to rebrand the podcast, and yet that.
Angela Henderson:A year from when I first found out even what podcasting was.
Angela Henderson:I was then asked to speak at We're podcast.
Angela Henderson:I was on stage with Pat Flynn, Steph Taylor, the variety of people, and
Angela Henderson:I was only episode 14 at the time of that particular conference,
Angela Henderson:and it was just fascinating.
Angela Henderson:Podcasting has opened up my world in so many levels.
Angela Henderson:It's made me more confident.
Angela Henderson:Speaker has allowed me to show my authority and my credibility in my space
Angela Henderson:as an online business consultant, a coach.
Angela Henderson:But also for me, more importantly, it's allowed my voice to make impact.
Angela Henderson:And the last thing that I would say that's been phenomenal is the amount of
Angela Henderson:connections and network you can make.
Angela Henderson:I believe your network equals your net worth.
Angela Henderson:And once you have a podcast, in my opinion, you get to about episode 20,
Angela Henderson:which doesn't seem like a lot, but it's almost a half a year, is people
Angela Henderson:are all like even your biggest fans who you will think like, they're
Angela Henderson:never gonna gamble on my podcast.
Angela Henderson:Once they see that you've got some rhythm.
Angela Henderson:You will, these people will just show up because they know how easy it is
Angela Henderson:and they're gonna tell their story.
Angela Henderson:They, you make them look like the hero.
Angela Henderson:And so yeah, the, the network that I've been able to create,
Angela Henderson:that's how I know Omar and Nicole, you know, it's, it's phenomenal.
Angela Henderson:And I believe if you are in alignment and you have a voice and you like to
Angela Henderson:speak, I believe podcasting should be one of the primary things you infuse
Angela Henderson:into your business right off the bat.
Angela Henderson:Yeah,
John Ball:I think, I think it's a valuable tool, especially for people
John Ball:who are in the coaching world as well.
John Ball:And and I do wonder specifically with that, if you could go back to the start of
John Ball:your journey as a podcaster, is there any advice you wish you could give yourself?
Angela Henderson:Listen, I'm sitting here not being a dick.
Angela Henderson:Do what I mean.
Angela Henderson:But it's like one of those things that's like, I don't know if
Angela Henderson:there is, and I say that because.
Angela Henderson:I think often that's what stops people from podcasting is we get the chatter in
Angela Henderson:our head and then we don't do anything, and then the chatter comes again,
Angela Henderson:and then we get imposter syndrome.
Angela Henderson:We don't do anything.
Angela Henderson:So I'm actually proud of the Angela I was five years ago just to pull
Angela Henderson:the trigger and do imperfect action.
Angela Henderson:Do you know what I mean?
Angela Henderson:So, If there's, it's not so much would I have done anything different?
Angela Henderson:It's more about just like, just fucking do it.
Angela Henderson:Do you know what I mean?
Angela Henderson:Like, it, it will be one of the best assets you have for your business.
Angela Henderson:You're, yeah.
Angela Henderson:So that's not trying to be cocky or being in a dish way, but it's, I, I
Angela Henderson:think we get in our heads so much and it stops people from actually producing
Angela Henderson:an amazing podcast and enhancing their world and the people around them.
John Ball:I, I really
John Ball:like that answer because I think that's something that stops many people with
John Ball:many things, not just with podcasting.
John Ball:What mode back getting in your head or not being prepared to sort of
John Ball:start off sucking at it and, and not being perfect or good enough.
John Ball:Especially when you hear, like, somebody might tune into this show
John Ball:and think, oh, you know, they, they know what they're doing.
John Ball:They know what they're talking about.
John Ball:How could I do that as well?
John Ball:I didn't, when I started you didn't when you started, if you.
John Ball:You can go back and listen to episode one of this show.
John Ball:I did not have a clue what I was doing and, and it, and it's very apparent.
John Ball:And yet we started the show.
John Ball:I got it started and kept going and had no idea where it was even going.
John Ball:It wasn't a business thing.
John Ball:It was like a fun project and then this all like, oh, this
John Ball:could actually be something.
John Ball:And yes, but I kept, but I kept doing it.
John Ball:And really, for me, it's only been just looking back,
John Ball:seeing the growth rather than.
John Ball:Wondering about whether I was good enough to start.
John Ball:I just thought, let's do it.
Angela Henderson:I remember Pat Flynn when he was speaking, he was closing
Angela Henderson:keynote the year that I was speaking on stage with him, and I remember he played
Angela Henderson:his first podcast episode and he is like, get ready for cringe ness, right?
Angela Henderson:It's like, yo, yo, yo.
Angela Henderson:And he is like, Mike, Mike, Mike.
Angela Henderson:Yo, yo, yo.
Angela Henderson:It's Pat Flynn here.
Angela Henderson:Yo, it's Pod I don't, yo.
Angela Henderson:And it was like, it's so cringeworthy.
Angela Henderson:But I mean, pat Flynn too started somewhere.
Angela Henderson:And I think it's important that.
Angela Henderson:Don't compare your Chapter zero with someone like Pat Flynn or
Angela Henderson:yourself or me, where they're at, like a chapter 50, right?
Angela Henderson:Just know that if you like it and it lights you up, the right
Angela Henderson:people are gonna listen to you.
Angela Henderson:The right people are gonna enhance your business.
Angela Henderson:And again, you get the opportunity every single day or week or however
Angela Henderson:many podcasts you're producing in a month to make significant change
Angela Henderson:in the lives of human beings.
Angela Henderson:It's not just about making more money, it's the change and the
Angela Henderson:stories and the impact that you.
Angela Henderson:You will never know you're making because people won't subscribe, right?
Angela Henderson:So if you're looking at vanity metrics, oh, people are subscribing.
Angela Henderson:I hardly have any reviews, but you'll occasionally get the email and someone
Angela Henderson:will say, I've been listening to you for the last six months, and.
Angela Henderson:What you did for me was X, Y, and Z.
Angela Henderson:You know, it helped me exponentially.
Angela Henderson:And then you go, that's why I'm here.
Angela Henderson:So if you're looking for praise or you're looking for vanity
Angela Henderson:metrics, it's the wrong thing to do.
Angela Henderson:But if you're wanting to lead with your heart, and if you're wanting
Angela Henderson:to lead with impact, and at the same time be profitable and make
Angela Henderson:money, it's the right thing to do.
John Ball:Right.
John Ball:And, and as you mentioned earlier, to sort of call back to the make sure this
John Ball:is something that's in alignment for you as well, not just something that you
John Ball:think, oh, everyone else is doing this.
John Ball:I should do this too.
John Ball:Because maybe it's not part of your, where you're going
John Ball:shine if it doesn't feel right.
Angela Henderson:100%.
Angela Henderson:And that's like when the women come into me and they're like on TikTok and they've
Angela Henderson:got a, they're on episode two, whatever.
Angela Henderson:And I'm just like, Or they're on YouTube.
Angela Henderson:I'm like, do you like having it?
Angela Henderson:Like, do you wanna do your makeup every day or whenever you're recording and do
Angela Henderson:you wanna have to spend all this time?
Angela Henderson:They're like, no.
Angela Henderson:And I'm like, well, have you thought about podcasting?
Angela Henderson:Because you literally can record without a video and you can just
Angela Henderson:show up and still produce an amazing quality piece of content.
Angela Henderson:Oh, you could do that.
Angela Henderson:You don't have to be on video.
Angela Henderson:Yeah, you get to choose how you record the audio.
Angela Henderson:You don't have to repurpose video.
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:They're like, oh, that sounds a lot easier.
Angela Henderson:So I've actually moved a lot of people who were doing YouTube into podcasting,
Angela Henderson:and as soon as they let, like were able to detach from not feeling like they
Angela Henderson:have failed because their YouTube channel didn't excel and they realigned with
Angela Henderson:the audio, a k, a podcasting component, their podcast went off and they're
Angela Henderson:still podcasting today, two, three years later because it's something they're
Angela Henderson:in alignment with and therefore, you're also more likely to stay consistent.
Angela Henderson:And consistency to me is massive work.
Angela Henderson:When we're in, you know, if you think about being consistent on your social
Angela Henderson:medias or consistent on advertising, whatever it is, consistency does play
Angela Henderson:a significant role to your success.
Angela Henderson:So choose something.
Angela Henderson:If it's not podcasting, choose that one thing and execute it well.
Angela Henderson:Like I said, we're about to rebrand the podcast here in the upcoming
Angela Henderson:weeks from time of recording, and we're actually doubling down.
Angela Henderson:So we'll produce one podcast episode per week where I bring on a guest or
Angela Henderson:whatever, but we're also gonna do an ask and section where people can submit
Angela Henderson:their questions and I will answer those.
Angela Henderson:Optimize what you already have.
Angela Henderson:Quit chasing the shiny object.
Angela Henderson:Don't then go again.
Angela Henderson:I need TikTok and Pinterest and YouTube.
Angela Henderson:No.
Angela Henderson:Use what you already have and double down because you're going to scale a
Angela Henderson:lot quicker because simplicity scales.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
John Ball:And, and I think that's, that's a key message here.
John Ball:Now, the consistency thing is a really important part with this too.
John Ball:Whether, whether it's as having your podcast or whether it's being a
John Ball:podcast guest or both, understanding that results may take a little
John Ball:time to, to show from your work.
Angela Henderson:Hundred podcast is a long-term demine strategy.
Angela Henderson:If you think that you're gonna start a podcast and the next thing you know,
Angela Henderson:you're either making a, a huge impact or not, I'm gonna tell you, my friend,
Angela Henderson:don't do it then like, it's because by the time you get your rhythm, by the
Angela Henderson:time you, your systems done by ti, but.
Angela Henderson:Like you, you just feel the vibe.
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:And also too, depending on your niche market, for example, will also
Angela Henderson:depend on how long people have to listen to you before they convert.
Angela Henderson:Typically, our data shows about four and a half to six months before someone
Angela Henderson:will convert and get on a call with me.
Angela Henderson:So it's not, cuz I'm not producing quality content.
Angela Henderson:What happens is they're, they say things like, oh, You were my mentor
Angela Henderson:for the last four and a half.
Angela Henderson:Do, I mean six months or whatever.
Angela Henderson:And now I'm ready to, for you to be my consultant.
Angela Henderson:But if I was inconsistent and only producing one podcast episode a month,
Angela Henderson:it probably would take them a year and a half to convert to me because
Angela Henderson:they need multiple, remember, people need multiple touchpoints from you.
Angela Henderson:And so, yeah.
Angela Henderson:So for me it's like, yeah, podcasting's a long-term game, but also don't forget.
Angela Henderson:You know, I remember going to Social Media Marketing World and I speak to
Angela Henderson:Mike Sellner who owns it one day, and what he said was, if he's going to,
Angela Henderson:if he's gonna decide on a speaker at his event, and one speaker doesn't
Angela Henderson:have a podcast and the other speaker does have a podcast, he's choosing the
Angela Henderson:person with this podcast because they already know how to use their voice.
Angela Henderson:They already know how to leverage.
Angela Henderson:Do you know what I mean?
Angela Henderson:Impact, even though they might not be really polished on stage, he said
Angela Henderson:most people can still fumble through it and be okay with it, right?
Angela Henderson:So, yes, so podcasting and not to mention like.
Angela Henderson:Opportunities.
Angela Henderson:You get asked to go on summits, you get asked to, you know, do giveaways together.
Angela Henderson:You get like asked to potentially do like take over people's Instagram account.
Angela Henderson:There's so many opportunities that podcasting has not even to mention
Angela Henderson:if you choose to then monetize it, I haven't monetized it yet, but it, we
Angela Henderson:are creating sponsorship packages for 2023, uh, along with like inclusion
Angela Henderson:and newsletter and a variety of other things to do, a holistic approach to it.
Angela Henderson:But our podcast now will play a big factor in how do we monetize this moving
John Ball:forward.
John Ball:Yeah.
John Ball:Yeah.
John Ball:No.
John Ball:You mentioned that you're rebranding your show.
John Ball:Mm-hmm.
John Ball:And I'm sure some, I'm sure plenty of people listening into this are gonna
John Ball:want to check it out, especially as you mentioned, like who you're helping now.
John Ball:I think some women in the audience are definitely gonna want to check
John Ball:you out and, and also maybe come and ask you some questions on your, yeah.
John Ball:On your q and a show.
John Ball:Um, so let's, let's, I think by the time this airs, your show may well be live.
John Ball:So with the rebrand, so mm-hmm.
John Ball:What's, what's it gonna be called?
John Ball:How can people come and find it?
Angela Henderson:Yeah, so the current one is called The Business and Live
Angela Henderson:Conversations Podcast, and I guess I start with that, John, because don't
Angela Henderson:be afraid to adapt your podcast.
Angela Henderson:Because you might have grown and you may have just evolved, and as you've
Angela Henderson:evolved, your podcast has changed.
Angela Henderson:Don't underestimate the power of doing the impact that you can still
Angela Henderson:have and being brave to do that.
Angela Henderson:So I start with that and the podcast now is I used to work with E-com businesses.
Angela Henderson:And service-based businesses.
Angela Henderson:And so the Business and Life Conversations podcast draws in
Angela Henderson:a lot of e-comm businesses, but I'm no longer working with them.
Angela Henderson:So I'm doing all this work, but it's actually not necessarily a
Angela Henderson:an r o i with the right clients.
Angela Henderson:So I've now rebranded to the Angela Henderson online business show where
Angela Henderson:we focus on business, ma business strategy, mindset, and wealth creation.
Angela Henderson:So, yeah, so yeah, and I just think it's gonna be, it's more specific.
Angela Henderson:It's, it's more down the pipeline.
Angela Henderson:It's fake specifically about business, cuz I work with a variety
Angela Henderson:of different types of business owners.
Angela Henderson:So Yes.
Angela Henderson:So we've rebounded to, yeah, the Angela Henderson online business show.
Angela Henderson:That's fantastic.
John Ball:Well, I wish you every success with that show and definitely I will have
John Ball:links to your podcast in the show notes so people can easily go and check that out.
John Ball:Visit the show notes.
John Ball:Whilst you're there, make sure you subscribe to this show as well as
John Ball:Angelas uh, don't check us out.
John Ball:I wanted to move into one more thing, which is podcast guesting cuz I, I'm
John Ball:delighted that you agreed to come and be a guest on my show and this conversation has
John Ball:already been amazing with so much value.
John Ball:And so even when, even though I had a sense of that you were gonna be a great
John Ball:guest last time that we check connected, the reality is surpassed my expectations.
John Ball:So thank you for that.
John Ball:What?
John Ball:What has been the best things to come for you from being a
John Ball:guest on other people's podcasts?
Angela Henderson:Oh, goodness me.
Angela Henderson:I reckon I'm clocking up about 150 guests shows to me in the last couple of years.
Angela Henderson:I love it, right?
Angela Henderson:Like I cannot emphasize enough one.
Angela Henderson:Again, I love the connection and the network.
Angela Henderson:Two, I love that I get to share my story in my pajamas, right,
Angela Henderson:without having to go there.
Angela Henderson:But three.
Angela Henderson:I also love podcast guesting because in the show notes, I have a very strong
Angela Henderson:SEO strategy and I make sure that I use my keywords in people's show notes to
Angela Henderson:on order to get back links back to my website, which helps Google identify that
Angela Henderson:I am someone to gonna mean of authority, and they start to rake me better.
Angela Henderson:So then I go to page one, spot one page zooming spot two, or whatever
Angela Henderson:it is, based on my keywords.
Angela Henderson:So if you leverage podcast guesting with an SEO strategy, it's also brilliant
Angela Henderson:because then you're not having to pay for.
Angela Henderson:Excuse me.
Angela Henderson:Other, do you mean additional SEO strategy tactics?
Angela Henderson:You could already leverage what you're already using.
John Ball:Hmm.
John Ball:I, I like the sound of that, and that is something I haven't heard very much about.
John Ball:It's like a lot.
John Ball:I've been in podcasting and I even work within a podcasting training company.
John Ball:Don't hear that much about s e o in podcasting.
John Ball:And, and so where, where has that strategy come from?
John Ball:How could people who are looking to do this utilize that s e O strategy?
Angela Henderson:The first thing is, is you are either going to want to
Angela Henderson:figure out what your keywords are.
Angela Henderson:So for example, in the show notes, one of my primary keywords is business coach.
Angela Henderson:Another keyword is keynote speaker, and another keyword is podcast.
Angela Henderson:I can't, something out there, I don't have it in front of me.
Angela Henderson:So when someone finishes a podcast, John, you'll get it from me, is in
Angela Henderson:the show notes is I'll say, Hey John, these show notes are really lovely.
Angela Henderson:Oh, I have a really strong s e o strategy and I, so I always wait to
Angela Henderson:talk to the guest until after I add value to their show, until after
Angela Henderson:it's been published, because I don't wanna be a difficult podcast guest
Angela Henderson:bec and being like Mariah Carey diva.
Angela Henderson:But once I build the rapport and I add value, they're so gracious with it.
Angela Henderson:They're like, oh my gosh, yes, my team and I will get on it.
Angela Henderson:So I'll cite in the opening paragraph.
Angela Henderson:Can you say International business coach and can you hyperlink
Angela Henderson:business coach to my homepage?
Angela Henderson:Com a keynote speaker.
Angela Henderson:Can you hyperlink the word keynote speaker to my keynote speaker page
Angela Henderson:and the whatever my last one is.
Angela Henderson:And then what happens now is, is I have say, 50 back links from 50 other websites.
Angela Henderson:So Google goes, well, hold on, have 50 websites.
Angela Henderson:All are saying she's a business coach and all are saying she's a keynote speaker.
Angela Henderson:She must know what the hell she's doing.
Angela Henderson:So we're gonna start to rank her for those keywords because she's got, she's building
Angela Henderson:authority from other people versus just using business coach on my website.
Angela Henderson:So it's like onsite SEO o offsite, SEO O.
Angela Henderson:And so, yeah, and we've got about five or six different like
Angela Henderson:little phrases we'll give to the.
Angela Henderson:Podcast interviewer, and so that we're not all just like, you don't want
Angela Henderson:to keyword saturate things either, and so we'll just like alternate
Angela Henderson:those so that we're spreading those back links across multiple keywords.
Angela Henderson:So, yes.
Angela Henderson:That's
Angela Henderson:a great strategy.
Angela Henderson:One that I'm gonna employ and, and I'm sure anyone listen to this who's doing
Angela Henderson:podcast guesting should definitely make some notes about that and make
Angela Henderson:sure that you have that in your strategy if it's not already there.
Angela Henderson:What have been perhaps some of your most interesting or
Angela Henderson:enjoyable experiences as a guest?
Angela Henderson:Oh, I mean, other than this show, right?
Angela Henderson:Other than this show.
Angela Henderson:I mean, listen, I, I think it's just about how you can
Angela Henderson:just talk about so many things.
Angela Henderson:Sometimes it doesn't have to be about business.
Angela Henderson:Like, so for example, obviously I'm a business consultant, but like,
Angela Henderson:I've been asked to be on like five different divorce podcast episodes
Angela Henderson:over the last little while too.
Angela Henderson:So I asked my husband for a divorce on Christmas Day.
Angela Henderson:Those listening might be like, God, you're the biggest douche bag ever.
Angela Henderson:But again, it, I didn't wanna go into another year.
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:I have a say.
Angela Henderson:Whatever you are not changing, you are choosing.
Angela Henderson:So here I was saying this to my clients, but not being true to it myself.
Angela Henderson:So whatever, you're not changing, you're choosing.
Angela Henderson:I remember on Christmas day, my husband did one last inin that kind of put me over
Angela Henderson:and I remembered going to the bathroom and I was crying and I looked at myself.
Angela Henderson:I said, not this year.
Angela Henderson:This year we do.
Angela Henderson:You know what I mean?
Angela Henderson:And so I walked out and I sitting on for the kids, I said,
Angela Henderson:you've got till March to go.
Angela Henderson:Now, I never in my wildest dreams thought that people would hear my
Angela Henderson:story on my podcast or hear like, I like, you know, talk about it in like
Angela Henderson:a blog article or whatever, and they're like, will you come on the podcast?
Angela Henderson:Because my hus, my ex-husband lives 20 seconds from my front door.
Angela Henderson:He comes over for Christmas, he comes over for birthdays.
Angela Henderson:He still uses my fricking washing machine every Sunday to wash his clothes.
Angela Henderson:Okay?
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:But, and society wants divorce to be hard.
Angela Henderson:Now I caveat it.
Angela Henderson:There was no affair, there was no drug addiction.
Angela Henderson:There was do, I mean there like it was it, it was a cleaner divorce.
Angela Henderson:Again, I don't know what it's like to have, if someone has an affair,
Angela Henderson:so I understand it could be hard, but also he's an easygoing guy.
Angela Henderson:I'm an easygoing girl, so it's been actually relatively easy.
Angela Henderson:So when people hear my story, they're like, can you come on my podcast?
Angela Henderson:Can you talk about this?
Angela Henderson:So even though it's not probably gonna drive me traffic as a business
Angela Henderson:consultant, I still get to use my voice and talk about a variety of other things
Angela Henderson:that is still going to help people, even though that's not what you know.
Angela Henderson:I mean, my podcast is about.
Angela Henderson:So that's what is beauty, and I've met some amazing, most beautiful humans
Angela Henderson:from being able to share my story.
John Ball:Yeah.
John Ball:So when it comes to appearing on podcasts, like a lot of people would
John Ball:take the strategy of really only looking to appear on shows that perhaps are
John Ball:to their target audience, to their particular avatar or demographic.
John Ball:But you decided that that's not essential for you or, or is that something No, I
Angela Henderson:decided that it feels so, I'd say 85% of my are still,
Angela Henderson:because I also believe about what's my R o I, and I'm very big about
Angela Henderson:intention showing up with intention.
Angela Henderson:But I'm also big about giving back to community and if my story can
Angela Henderson:help someone else, I'm all not all about a return on investment.
Angela Henderson:I'm about leading with value first.
Angela Henderson:And everything else I believe will happen from the way that it will work.
Angela Henderson:Right?
Angela Henderson:And don't underestimate that just because you're talking to a show of
Angela Henderson:people who you mean are women who have equally just going through a divorce.
Angela Henderson:Don't underestimate that.
Angela Henderson:They might be in business or they might be in a nine to five job, but
Angela Henderson:their best friend is just opened up her business and she needs help.
Angela Henderson:Don't underestimate that.
Angela Henderson:Who's or don't assume who's listening is not actually gonna ever help you.
Angela Henderson:They might not buy from you, but they might go, this lady was phenomenal.
Angela Henderson:Go and just check her out.
Angela Henderson:And then next thing you know, they start to do the marketing for you.
Angela Henderson:So again, that reduces me having to work on funnels or you know, I
Angela Henderson:saw funnels, but you're not then as heavily reliant because other people
Angela Henderson:are doing the heavy lifting for you.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
Angela Henderson:Yeah,
John Ball:absolutely.
John Ball:I, I often will recommend coaches and speakers if, especially if they
John Ball:don't have a podcast of their own, to start by going on podcast as a guest.
John Ball:Hell
Angela Henderson:yes, hell
John Ball:yes.
John Ball:Because I think that's a great place to, and, and, but I also think the things that
John Ball:you mentioned earlier about getting head.
John Ball:Those can be things that can stop you even doing the guesting stuff.
John Ball:And, and you know, I, you are a very experienced guest.
John Ball:Now I'm a somewhat experienced guest.
John Ball:I don't go on as many shows as you do, but I'm working on changing that actually.
John Ball:Cause I, I, I know how valuable it is to be a guest on other people's shows.
John Ball:And, and I wonder now, I've had to learn a few things about being
John Ball:a guest on other people's shows.
John Ball:What are the things that you had to learn to, to help you show up as a great guest?
Angela Henderson:Mm-hmm.
Angela Henderson:My thing is, is that, I think you saw this when you and I spoke initially,
Angela Henderson:is that, It's someone else's show.
Angela Henderson:Let me just repeat that.
Angela Henderson:It's someone else's show.
Angela Henderson:So what can I do of service for your show, for your listeners to
Angela Henderson:get the most value out of that time that they're listening to you and I?
Angela Henderson:It's not about me going and talking about my next funnel or come
Angela Henderson:by my book or come and do this.
Angela Henderson:No.
Angela Henderson:What does the interviewer need for his or her show, and how can I lead with
Angela Henderson:value First, check your ego at the door.
Angela Henderson:Stop doing things just because you want the next transaction or you
Angela Henderson:would not want the next dollar.
Angela Henderson:There's a great book called The Go-Giver by Bob Berg and John David
Angela Henderson:Mann, where they talk about the five laws of Strat Fear Success, and
Angela Henderson:ultimately what they say is lead with value and you'll become profitable.
Angela Henderson:That's what I say when you're a podcast guest or when you take over someone's
Angela Henderson:social media account or you write a blog, lead with value first and
Angela Henderson:the world whatever you believe, God, the universe, Hindu, whatever will,
Angela Henderson:it will come back to you tenfold.
Angela Henderson:But check your ego at the door is what I say.
Angela Henderson:And make sure that you're there to provide for the interview in his show and
Angela Henderson:her show not what you, not your agenda.
John Ball:Yeah.
John Ball:Uh, particularly like that as anyone who has a podcast probably knows that you're
John Ball:likely to receive multiple applications a week for people who wanna be on the show.
John Ball:Yes.
John Ball:Where from people who are just like, here's why I'm, here's why I'm wonderful.
John Ball:Here's why my client is a wonderful guest for your show.
John Ball:They've done this, this, this, and this.
John Ball:It's like, well, Okay, but why?
John Ball:Why should I go?
John Ball:Why should my audience care?
John Ball:Or how is that relevant to me or my show or what I do?
John Ball:A lot of people miss that.
John Ball:It's like, it's not about that.
John Ball:It's like, you might be the most amazing guest, but I don't know how you're
John Ball:gonna add value for me or my audience.
John Ball:And that's what I need to know.
John Ball:And, and it's one of the key reasons why, why I always have a, like a pre-interview
John Ball:chat so we can connect and create a bit of rapport, but also we can plan out
John Ball:what we're gonna talk about and we know.
John Ball:We know what we're, that we're gonna be doing something that's valuable by the
John Ball:time we get to recording an episode.
Angela Henderson:And I know too, like sometimes it'll be a no.
Angela Henderson:I remember I was like, did a pre-interview with one person,
Angela Henderson:one ton, and I said the word fuck.
Angela Henderson:And she said, do you say that often?
Angela Henderson:And I said, well, sometimes it just flies outta my mouth.
Angela Henderson:And she said later on she said, listen, she's like, I appreciate your time.
Angela Henderson:She's like, however, she's like, um, you're not the right caliber for my show.
Angela Henderson:Okay, well, I could have cried or boohooed, but respect that
Angela Henderson:it's her show and her rules.
Angela Henderson:It doesn't mean you're a bad person.
Angela Henderson:She didn't say that.
Angela Henderson:She's just saying for her show and her boundaries, I wasn't the right person.
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:And that's okay.
Angela Henderson:I still get to be me and I get to show up as authentically me, and some
Angela Henderson:people will like it and others don't.
Angela Henderson:That's the beauty of the rappel and retraction model, right?
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
Angela Henderson:I repel a lot of people because I'm very blunt to the point, but
Angela Henderson:I also believe life's too short to sugarcoat things and fluff around.
Angela Henderson:Where other people, they're happy to sit in the fluff, not me.
Angela Henderson:So just know that if you start looking at guesting, you're gonna
Angela Henderson:get way more nos than you are yeses.
Angela Henderson:But what I can tell you is a wonderful strategy is that once you get your own
Angela Henderson:podcast up and going, you find out who else has podcasts and you do swaps.
Angela Henderson:And it almost nine times outta 10 is an ultimate hell yes, I'm in because people
Angela Henderson:see the mutual benefit of swapping.
Angela Henderson:On established shows that have already been going, given six,
Angela Henderson:six months or more type scenarios.
Angela Henderson:So again, I, I encourage you, if the podcast is right, the
Angela Henderson:benefits again outweigh itself.
Angela Henderson:Yeah,
John Ball:I, I've spoken with a few people who've talked to me about
John Ball:they, they've actually tracked how much businesses has come to them
John Ball:through their podcast appearances.
John Ball:Do, do you have an idea what that is for yourself?
Angela Henderson:Listen, we try to start tracking, and again, this isn't
Angela Henderson:being cocky, but because the amount of shows I've been on, it's very difficult
Angela Henderson:to track it because sometimes people have heard me on multiple shows.
Angela Henderson:Sometimes people heard, they say, I heard you in a podcast guy in the uk.
Angela Henderson:Don't remember who, but I'm sorry.
Angela Henderson:I knew, but I knew your name.
Angela Henderson:Right.
Angela Henderson:And so I knew to Google you and I was like, okay.
Angela Henderson:Yep.
Angela Henderson:Cool.
Angela Henderson:So it's very difficult.
Angela Henderson:We can, we have on an onboarding call and when we pre-qualify
Angela Henderson:people, when they work with us.
Angela Henderson:How did you hear about us?
Angela Henderson:Google Podcast.
Angela Henderson:Guest.
Angela Henderson:Podcast.
Angela Henderson:But it's, it's quite hard for them a lot of times to give us the specific podcast.
John Ball:Yeah, that's, it is fair.
John Ball:It's fair enough.
John Ball:And it just, but you, but you certainly know that it has provided benefits to you.
Angela Henderson:100%.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
Angela Henderson:So when they take the box, I've heard you on a guest podcast, and that typically
Angela Henderson:falls right underneath my own podcast.
Angela Henderson:That's an indicator to me that data doesn't lie.
Angela Henderson:And so it's like, do more of that.
Angela Henderson:And so again, don't go and start my own TikTok show.
Angela Henderson:Don't go into YouTube.
Angela Henderson:If podcasting is where it's at, let me double down and optimize that.
Angela Henderson:Hence what we're doing with ours.
Angela Henderson:Releasing two shows versus one.
Angela Henderson:Now just optimize what you've already got.
Angela Henderson:You don't have to keep more.
Angela Henderson:Again, I'm gonna say simplicity scales.
John Ball:Yeah.
John Ball:Other than having people come in, Follow your, your podcast
John Ball:and your rebranding show.
John Ball:What's one piece of action you would love people to take from
John Ball:having listened to our conversation?
Angela Henderson:I would love people to go back and look at all the things they're
Angela Henderson:doing and generally assess what's bringing them enlightenment, ease, flow, and roi.
Angela Henderson:Because most people won't go and reflect on what's working for their business
Angela Henderson:and not working for the business.
Angela Henderson:They just keep moving to the next thing and the next thing and the next thing.
Angela Henderson:Take an hour of your time and look at all the things that you do on a daily
Angela Henderson:basis, weekly basis, and number it from one to 10, 10 is having impact.
Angela Henderson:Zero, it's not.
Angela Henderson:And start calling things.
Angela Henderson:Don't add more.
Angela Henderson:Start calling things and double down.
Angela Henderson:Because if you don't know where the return on investment is for your
Angela Henderson:time, cuz time's the one thing that you cannot buy back in the world.
Angela Henderson:So one thing you can't buy back in the world.
Angela Henderson:So start to identify the efficiencies in your time and
Angela Henderson:where the ROI is coming back.
Angela Henderson:Because until you assess that, you're just gonna keep chasing the next
Angela Henderson:thing and chasing the next thing.
Angela Henderson:Doing more, doing more, doing less is going to get you where you need to go.
Angela Henderson:But unless you look at the data and look at the roi, you're never gonna know.
Angela Henderson:Yeah.
Angela Henderson:Fantastic.
John Ball:Great advice.
John Ball:For those who begin, I would really like to work with Angela.
John Ball:You'll be, you'll find links to get in touch through the show notes and certainly
John Ball:do go and check out the podcast and they can come and ask you questions, right
John Ball:with your new show that they can 100%
Angela Henderson:questions.
Angela Henderson:Yep.
Angela Henderson:So we're putting the link on the website.
Angela Henderson:So again, if you've got a question, ask an, and you also will get a shout out.
Angela Henderson:So I'll say like, Hey, this is Angela Henderson from,
Angela Henderson:you know, Henderson dot Comu.
Angela Henderson:She's a business consultant.
Angela Henderson:She helps people do da, da, da da da tuning in front, or you know, asking
Angela Henderson:a question from France and then I'll say, this person's question is this.
Angela Henderson:So also, like I said to people when we started to market this is it also helps
Angela Henderson:them with getting back links from my website and the show notes back to them.
Angela Henderson:They get a shout out and they again do mean, get their question answered.
Angela Henderson:So if you do need, do you know you got any business questions, make
Angela Henderson:sure to submit a question for us to be able to answer that on the show.
John Ball:Fantastic.
John Ball:Well, I knew that your intention on coming on the show was to provide value.
John Ball:You have provided bucket loads of it more than I could have expected.
John Ball:It has been an absolute delight to speak to you what earning is, some incredible

John Ball:away at least one piece of high value.
