For all that sexuality and identity matter to Pride,

Speaker:

what matters more

Speaker:

is that they unite us.

Speaker:

Therefore in the interest of uniting us,

“If You Are Reading These They May Be About You”,

Speaker:

a poem by Rob MacWolf

Speaker:

Husbands beside me

Speaker:

Breathe loud in the darkness

Speaker:

Just before sunrise.

Speaker:

I ought to sleep more,

Speaker:

But all my dreams were passion

Speaker:

And I am too roused.

Speaker:

All my dreams have turned To smoldering near-erections And poems half-recalled.

Speaker:

Poems to many friends Whom I wish to hold, naked,

Speaker:

And talk about poems.

Speaker:

To friends who are men

Speaker:

And also wolves or foxes

Speaker:

Or lions, in their souls.

Speaker:

To friends who are bears,

Speaker:

Who fight like hungry badgers,

Speaker:

And who love like dogs.

Speaker:

Poems of the passions That animals like us stoke

Speaker:

For we're not yet dead.

Speaker:

Poems of the feeling,

Speaker:

Against my grateful muzzle,

Speaker:

Of my god's chest fur.

Speaker:

Poems that speak about The little gay rabbits.

Speaker:

Prayers for their asses.

Speaker:

For who will pray for The little gay rabbits,

Speaker:

If not you and I?

Speaker:
