Summary:

Walking in the overflow of the Holy Spirit is a key to a overcoming life. Our hungering and thirsting after the Lord opens the door as the Spirit of God within us makes the Word living in our hearts and then we begin to overflow as fountains of living water. You are giving God His voice to all the world.

Show Notes:

  • We can't play with a walk with God and expect to walk in a overcoming life.

  • Our overflow is perfected by God through the Holy Spirit; His voice speaking through us.

  • Communing with the Lord is the answer to ministering out of the overflow.

  • Christ made this principle so easy by being our example.

  • Hungering and thirsting after the Lord opens the door to the overflow.

  • Words are either empty or freighted with the Holy Spirit.

  • As the Spirit of God makes the Word living within us, we become the fountains of the overflow of His Word.

Quotes:

  • Think you can play with this walk with God, that you can sing along in the spirit and prophesy and have experience now and then, and you will overcome the world by that; you are badly mistaken.

  • Communing with the Lord is the answer to the fullness, to receiving the fullness.

  • Ministering out of the overflow of what God's doing in your life is so easy. God designed it that way. And Jesus was the example. We look to the Lord, and we draw.

  • ...you have to hunger and thirst after it. And then the Lord is faithful to supply the overflow.
  • The flow of His life, the anointing, whatever you want to call it. It issues from the Word living in us and being alive in us.

  • The Living Word only becomes living, if the Spirit of God makes it living.

  • Words, your words. It's what those words are freighted with. That makes all the difference in the world, the overflow. That's what the Holy Spirit is doing.

  • What is the overflow? It's an overflow of what God has transferred to you. You are now filled and you're ministering out of the overflow.

  • The overflow, you could say it's the Holy Spirit. But you could also say, a man that has been thirsty and hungering for the Word of God. It becomes so living within him that it overflows.

  • The greater works come out of the overflow, the greater works are to become a way of life for us.

References:

Jeremiah 29:12-14

Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.

John 7:37-39

On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Acts 1,2

The upper room and day of Pentecost)

Take Away:

Being filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit in our lives is the key to walking an overcoming life. As His Spirit overflows in us it makes His Word living and sharper that any two edged sword. As we speak that Word out of the fullness of God within us, we have entered into the greater works that God predestined for us to walk in today. This becomes a way of life for us.

Think you can play with this walk with God, that you can sing along in the Spirit and prophesy, and have an experience now and then, and you will overcome the world by that you are badly mistaken. It will happen only when we learn to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the fullness of God. Then what? Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. The effectiveness is to come from the fullness, fill with all the fullness of God,

Dale

Our overflow is perfected by God. And it travels through the Holy Spirit, His voice, speaking through us. Ministering out of the overflow of what God's doing in your life is so easy. God designed it that way. And Jesus was the example. We'd look to the Lord, and we draw, And we commune we do a lot of things that generates that overflow.

Deborah

Communing with the Lord is the answer to the fullness, to receiving the fullness. Not that any of us have received it as yet. However, we're reaching in to the Holy Spirit to be led, and to commune with Him.

Dale

What God needs is a mouthpiece, right? He's gonna fill you up to you overflow. You draw, you reach in, you open up your heart, you do a lot of things to contribute to that flow. But it's still the Holy Spirit and the voice of the Lord flowing through you. It becomes a way of life flowing with Him.

Deborah

You have to know where to go to get it. And you have to hunger and thirst after it. And then the Lord is faithful to supply the overflow.

Roger

The flow of his life, the anointing, whatever you want to call it. It issues from the Word living in us and being alive in us. And that Word that's alive is what we speak. That Word is just there and flowing in it, it overflows and it does, it will burn in your heart. Like Jeremiah said, it's the Word made alive in us.

Ron

The Living Word only becomes living, if the Spirit of God makes it living. There's something that turns that Word loose with power, and authority. I personally define it as being overflowing in the Holy Spirit, because the words in me. So the Holy Spirit's taking that out and exploding it to people and imparting it creating, destroying whatever He wants to do with that Word. It's the Lord within you, moving. Gosh, you look at just look at the early, the early disciples, they were ignorant unlearned men, and they'd walked with Christ for three years. And so they had stuff imparted to them, but Christ even said, you're not ready. Go to the Upper Room and wait. Just looking at the fruit. I haven't seen that fruit like that, these days. I think those were examples for us. I think the Lord was - here's an example. Christ was an example for us when he spoke, man, things happened.

Dale

Words, your words. It's what those words are freighted and with. That makes all the difference in the world, the overflow. That's what the Holy Spirit is doing. He's a conduit. He's a highway of God's nature that comes to us. What is the overflow? It's an overflow of what God has transferred to you. You are now filled and the you're ministering out of the overflow. If you take a glass of water and you fill it halfway with dirt, and you fill the rest with water, and you keep filling that glass, the overflow will purify itself. That's how God deals with us. That's why our overflow is so pure is because God purified it. But that's what Jesus did. All those times He was off by Himself. He was drawing from the Lord He was being filled. And then He stepped up and He spoke, He overflowed. Overflow, in the Holy Spirit is something you asked for. It's something that you get the same way He got it. The greater works come out of the overflow, the greater works are to become a way of life for us. Not something we do on occasions. But something we do every day.

Roger

Think about that, that the Holy Spirit, I think, Dale use the word a conduit, or a pipeline, that's exactly what it is. The Holy Spirit becomes the channel that all that God has to say, is transferred to the Holy Spirit. And He's transferring it to us, with the end result being this revelation of the Lord that fills our hearts.

Ron

The overflow, you could say it's the Holy Spirit. But you could also say, a man that has been thirsty and hungering for the Word of God. It becomes so living within him that it overflows. It's just a fountain, in fact the Scripture I wanted to read this, this came from – says, “Now, on the last day of the great day of the feast,”- this is the Feast of Tabernacles.” Jesus stood and cried out saying if any man is thirsty,” - that is where it starts. If any man is thirsty, “let him come to me and drink.” Well, what are you drinking? You're drinking a living Word filled with the Holy Spirit. It reads literally, if any man is thirsty, says, let him keep coming to me and keep drinking. “He who believes in Me as the scripture says, from the innermost being, or his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” This is the overflow. It's the experiencing of the repeated coming before the Lord, being filled with His Word, and His word becoming a fountain in you, and you begin to overflow. And that word is real, it's impact full, it's Christ coming out of your mouth. His nature His Word. You've become Christ in the earth, a living epistle.

Dale

We were raised up our purpose is to convey that overflow. Gospel of the Kingdom is going to the ends of the earth because of the overflow. I can convey more to you out of my overflow than in any other thing that I'm capable of conveying. God gets such a delight in that because He is the master of overflow. Because it's now the age of His overflow.
