Thank you for joining us for our 5 days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is day 435 of our trek, and it is Tuesday and time for our 2-3 minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom each Tuesday and Thursday. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from an unknown author who says, “As a man grows wiser, he talks less and says more.”
As a man grows wiser, he talks less and says more.
I realize that this appears to be a recurring theme, but it is so true. The wiser a person becomes, the less he needs to speak when it is not necessary. Many times, excessive talking is a sign of insecurity and low self-esteem. This may take the form of someone who comes off as a know-it-all, but underneath that façade is usually a lack of confidence.
When you are confident and secure, there is no need to let everyone know. It will be evident to all because what you don’t say with words will shout through your confident demeanor and true self-assurance. In the same manner, those individuals that are excessively busy with activities because of a strong need to be around other people is usually a sign of insecurities. A wise and confident person is fine being by himself in quiet reflection. As King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 5:3, “Too much activity gives you restless dreams; too many words make you a fool.”
