36

:

K66: Welcome back to another

episode of systemize her.

37

:

I'm your host, Leah.

38

:

And today we are back with

another juicy episode.

39

:

Today is going to be a

little bit different.

40

:

Y'all know.

41

:

I love the woo, but I

mostly enjoy the work.

42

:

But today we're going to

get a little bit more womb.

43

:

Than actual work, however.

44

:

You should be able to take today's

episode and use it in a very tangible way.

45

:

Azure planning for next year.

46

:

So we are going to talk

about your version of enough

47

:

and what that means to you.

48

:

So.

49

:

As you may or may not know.

50

:

Over the summer I took Shainen

on his very first speech trip.

51

:

We got to go to Fort Lauderdale,

Florida where Shainen had a blast.

52

:

It was just me and him.

53

:

And we got pictures taken.

54

:

We did all kinds of fun stuff, but

we got to hang out on the beach

55

:

and it was his very first time.

56

:

Now if you know, Shainen, Shainen

does not like to be dirty.

57

:

So he had a tough time at first, trying

to get a handle on the fact that the sand

58

:

touches you and it stays on your body.

59

:

And.

60

:

It took about an hour, probably on the

first day for him to get over the fact

61

:

that he was going to have to be dirty.

62

:

But he really enjoyed the

little beat showers that he got

63

:

to go to after we got dirty.

64

:

But anyway, we played

around in the sand and.

65

:

At one point in time, we

were walking the beach.

66

:

And so we're walking down near the water.

67

:

He of course, was not going

to get all the way in there.

68

:

But we're walking along near

the water and I'm just kind

69

:

of looking down at the ground.

70

:

And every time we walk.

71

:

Of course you can see our

two sets of footprints.

72

:

And so me getting all in my

fields, I was like, oh, we have

73

:

two sets of footprints, but.

74

:

As I turned around to look back,

I was going to take a picture.

75

:

I turned and looked back.

76

:

And by the time I turned around

our footprints from where we had

77

:

come from, had already washed away.

78

:

And I was like, oh man, I

didn't get to take a picture.

79

:

That thought kind of stuck with me.

80

:

I, again, am not usually

like a super woo person.

81

:

But it really got me to thinking about.

82

:

The fact that we were walking and as

we're walking, you can see our footprints.

83

:

But once we pick them up and we

continued on to take our next step.

84

:

By the time.

85

:

We even could look down to

realize what was happening.

86

:

Our footprint was washed away.

87

:

So we were basically leaving our mark.

88

:

In the sand.

89

:

In real time and once our feet.

90

:

We're moved from that space.

91

:

We were, it was like, we were never there.

92

:

So we were taking up just enough

space in that time to leave our mark.

93

:

And then allowing.

94

:

The waves to wash it away.

95

:

And the next person that would walk

behind us, but leave their own footprint.

96

:

That got me thinking about the

amount of space that I take up in

97

:

the world and the amount of space

that I want to take up in the world.

98

:

It wasn't like, I felt like anything

was lost because I only made

99

:

footprints where I was standing in

the footprints that were washed away.

100

:

We're gone.

101

:

I wasn't sad about it.

102

:

I wasn't like distraught about it.

103

:

I was perfectly happy.

104

:

Holding hands with my child, walking

down the sand, having this experience.

105

:

And I didn't get to take pictures

of our footprints in the sand.

106

:

And that's fine.

107

:

I have the memories of what was happening.

108

:

We were taking up the amount of space

that we were designed to take up.

109

:

My big realization was that the

footprints that we leave behind,

110

:

they don't have to be big.

111

:

They don't have to be permanent.

112

:

To have meaning.

113

:

And as I'm sitting there,

we're continuing to play.

114

:

I'm just listening to the

waves, playing with Shainen.

115

:

I started to think, like I

said, about enough and how that

116

:

translates to business, how much

space do we really need to take up?

117

:

What does success really look like?

118

:

And does it have to be this huge

business in order for it to be.

119

:

Enough for me, or is enough having

maybe myself, maybe a few other.

120

:

Employees.

121

:

Or contractors.

122

:

And letting that be.

123

:

Exactly what I want and

serve its exact purpose.

124

:

So today we're going to talk about

what enough looks like for you.

125

:

Because really there's

no one size fits all.

126

:

Some of you are going to

listen to this and you're going

127

:

to say, yes, I want to be.

128

:

A multimillion dollar business owner.

129

:

I want to own a company that

is worth a billion dollars.

130

:

I have the goal of building something

big enough to sell, but there are some of

131

:

us that are saying, no, I actually just

want a few extra thousand dollars a year

132

:

so that I can travel more so that I can.

133

:

By myself, nice things so

that I can have a new car.

134

:

And then there are a lot

of us that are in between.

135

:

So some of us are saying, Hey,

I do want to build a substantial

136

:

business, but I don't need it to

be worth multi-million dollars.

137

:

I don't want the things

that come along with that.

138

:

And that's what today's

episode is going to be about.

139

:

If it's something that you've

never thought of before, I hope

140

:

that today I'm going to help you.

141

:

I start to think about what that looks

like, so that you can start to plan.

142

:

And come up with a long-term

vision for you and your business.

143

:

And that will help to translate to

how we plan for next year in:

144

:

So before we get into the episode, let's

take a quick break to pay some bills.

156

:

Now, let's get back into the episode.

157

:

K66: We are back.

158

:

And as we are diving into

this topic of what is enough.

159

:

The very first thing that I

want you to think about is

160

:

defining your version of success.

161

:

What does success look like for you?

162

:

I can tell you for me that I do not desire

to have a multimillion dollar business.

163

:

If it comes at the expense

of having to give up time.

164

:

With my family and with my child.

165

:

I would like to build a business

that will grow as big as I

166

:

am able to, to sustain it.

167

:

With myself and a very small team.

168

:

When I say small, I am thinking that I do

not want a team of more than five people.

169

:

I do not want to be responsible.

170

:

For employing that many people.

171

:

And I'm also fine with those people being

contractors and not full-time employees.

172

:

If I am able to create.

173

:

Hundreds of thousands or millions of

dollars from that small of a team,

174

:

then I'm perfectly happy with that.

175

:

I would love if I could build a

business that would replace my

176

:

full-time income and allow me to

just do what I love day to day.

177

:

However, if that means that I am.

178

:

Stressing myself out working 80 hours a

week, which is more than I work currently.

179

:

I don't want a business

that big at that expense.

180

:

So I do not necessarily have a

financial goal of what success

181

:

looks like for me in business.

182

:

However, I do know that success for me

is going to be determined by the amount

183

:

of time that I get to spend doing.

184

:

The things that are important to me.

185

:

And that to me is spending

time with my family.

186

:

Having enough time to rest and

recuperate and take care of myself.

187

:

And then do what I love

inside of my business.

188

:

So as long as I'm able to do those

three things, then I am happy

189

:

to grow my business as big as.

190

:

As it becomes.

191

:

When I originally started thinking about.

192

:

Going into business for myself and

how I wanted to build the business.

193

:

I was kind of caught up in the hype of,

oh, I have to create this big thing.

194

:

I have to be thinking about

a business that is sellable.

195

:

I have to be thinking about.

196

:

Building a huge team

and all of these things.

197

:

And I will say that part of it was

because I was thinking about I was

198

:

in business prior to COVID, but I

honestly didn't really ramp up my

199

:

business until the COVID timeframe.

200

:

And if you remember, COVID

was the time where everybody

201

:

was thriving and doing great.

202

:

And so many of our favorite business

owners were talking about their huge

203

:

teams and how they have teams of 20,

how they have people that take care of

204

:

everything basically in their business.

205

:

And they get the opportunity to just

sit back and watch the money come in.

206

:

And while that's great.

207

:

For them.

208

:

If you are still listening

to some of your faves.

209

:

A big turn of events.

210

:

And a big push these days is

smaller, more manageable teams.

211

:

A lot of people got overwhelmed

with the amount of people that were

212

:

dependent upon them for their paycheck.

213

:

A lot of them felt like

their teams were too big.

214

:

They were spending too much money

on payroll and all of these things.

215

:

And they built these huge businesses

that require all of these people.

216

:

And now they were severely unhappy.

217

:

And they are scaling down

the size of their businesses.

218

:

So I originally did get kind

of caught up in that hype.

219

:

And I was, I spent a lot of time

turning my wheels, thinking about.

220

:

How I was going to grow a business

that was big enough to need to be

221

:

managed by all of these people.

222

:

And as I was thinking about it

more and more, it just was not

223

:

something that made me happy.

224

:

I'm like, I, this just does not seem

like something that aligns with me.

225

:

And that was when I really

started to have the mindset of

226

:

maybe this is not what I want.

227

:

Maybe.

228

:

I want to just start building my

business where I am and not think about

229

:

scaling and not thinking about how

big it needs to be and all of that.

230

:

Which is what I should've

been doing anyway.

231

:

But you know, when you start hearing

your favorite, your, you know,

232

:

when you start hearing your faves

and these good Roos and everything

233

:

talking about scaling, it's like,

oh, I got to think about that because

234

:

that's what they're thinking about.

235

:

But when you're absorbing information,

make sure that you are meeting

236

:

the information where you are.

237

:

And you're taking that through the

lens of where you currently are.

238

:

So.

239

:

For me, that was a lesson learned, but.

240

:

I just want to encourage you

to sit back and think about.

241

:

What is going to work for you?

242

:

Define your own version of enough.

243

:

Think about what is going to work for you

and what is not going to work for you.

244

:

Think about your non-negotiables.

245

:

What are you not willing to

give up for this success?

246

:

We always talk about what

we are willing to give up.

247

:

I'm willing to give up sleep.

248

:

I'm willing to give up.

249

:

Self care.

250

:

I'm willing to give up time with

my family, those types of things.

251

:

And that may be true for you, but.

252

:

Like I said, for me, it's not.

253

:

So what are your non-negotiables?

254

:

And what are you okay with

growing your business too?

255

:

As long as dot.dot.

256

:

As long as what.

257

:

I am okay.

258

:

Building my business to.

259

:

A million dollars, as long as long

as it doesn't come at the expense of.

260

:

Missing Shainen's games.

261

:

As long as it doesn't

come at the expense of.

262

:

Giving up my eight hours

of sleep every night.

263

:

So finish that sentence and start to

jot down those things that you feel

264

:

like are non-negotiables for you.

265

:

And that'll help you decide how big

of a business you want to build.

266

:

That feels aligned.

267

:

With your goals.

268

:

For some of us enough is going

to be making six figures.

269

:

For some of us enough is going to be

making five figures as long as we have

270

:

more time with our kids and our families.

271

:

Think about the quality of the

life that you'd like to live and

272

:

not necessarily the quantity of

the dollars in your bank account.

273

:

Although that is going to play a role,

obviously we're all in the business of.

274

:

Owning your own business in

order to make some sort of money.

275

:

Figure out what your money goal is,

and then figure out what you are

276

:

willing to do and not willing to

do in order to meet that many goal.

277

:

So that is the first thing

that I want you to think about.

278

:

The second thing that I want to talk

about is why more is not always better.

279

:

I am a person that has never

subscribed to the hustle culture.

280

:

Anytime people would say like,

oh, I can sleep when I'm dead,

281

:

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

282

:

I, I immediately tune out, close my ears.

283

:

That's not me.

284

:

I have always been a naturally.

285

:

I have always been a, let me get in bed

at a decent time and take myself to sleep.

286

:

Even when I was younger and I'd like,

have my party girl phase where I would

287

:

go out and things like that, like.

288

:

If I had to be up in the morning,

nine times out of 10, I was

289

:

not going to be out at night.

290

:

That was just not my thing.

291

:

I would have friends that would

be kind of out doing their own

292

:

thing and their parents would be

calling me like, where is so-and-so?

293

:

And I'm like, I don't

know, because I'm in bed.

294

:

I was just never someone that was willing

to give up sleep to do really anything.

295

:

And if I'm tired and I need

rest, I'm also not doing it.

296

:

And I'm still that way to this day.

297

:

So.

298

:

I have never been the more and more and

more hustle, hustle, hustle, type person.

299

:

I have always been, let me figure

out what it is that I need to do.

300

:

And the time that I have allotted so that

I can get it done in time for me to go

301

:

to bed or me to have my nap or whatever.

302

:

Even in nursing school when I would study.

303

:

People would be like, oh, I guess

I'm going to pull an all nighter

304

:

because I have a test today.

305

:

if I didn't have it by.

306

:

Whatever time.

307

:

I said I was going to

stop maybe 11 o'clock.

308

:

If I was really like, Ooh, I gotta study.

309

:

11 was probably the latest that I

think I've ever stayed up to study.

310

:

And I would leave people in that

study room and I'd be like, well, you

311

:

have your fun with your all-nighter.

312

:

I'm headed to bed.

313

:

Goodnight.

314

:

If that'll have it by now,

I'm just not going to have it.

315

:

And honestly, that has worked for me.

316

:

I know my limits.

317

:

I know that an unrested, Leah is

not going to be a productively.

318

:

It's not going to be.

319

:

A good situation, really, in any scenario.

320

:

So I know that I need my sleep.

321

:

Some people thrive off

of that hustle mentality.

322

:

And I'm not, this episode

is not to tell you not to.

323

:

I'm not telling you how I handle

things in order for you to change

324

:

your mindset, to match mine.

325

:

But I am talking about what is

innately me, what is inside of me,

326

:

how I operate and how I do things

and how I had to kind of reframe.

327

:

What success meant to me because

what I was seeing in the mainstream

328

:

media was not really aligned.

329

:

Even now, like I am a mom,

I have a full-time job.

330

:

I'm in the military.

331

:

Like.

332

:

I have a lot of things that I need to

be able to manage at any given time.

333

:

And I know I can not manage those

things on small amounts of sleep.

334

:

I need to be able to get my rest.

335

:

And have these boundaries

in place in order to.

336

:

Have the success that I'm looking for.

337

:

For me, instead of thinking,

how big can I grow this?

338

:

I shift my mindset to how well

can I build this to fit my life.

339

:

This to me might mean fewer clients.

340

:

This might mean a smaller team.

341

:

This might have to mean lower revenue

goals, but honestly, for me, if it

342

:

brings me joy and happiness and I feel.

343

:

At ease and everything that

I'm doing, it is still success.

344

:

What I really want you to take away is

that I want you to really reflect and

345

:

get out a piece of paper and a pen.

346

:

Or pull up a notion

page or whatever it is.

347

:

And I really want you to outline

what areas of your life and

348

:

business are you chasing more in.

349

:

Consider, whether it

aligns with your big goals.

350

:

So I know that this was more of a woo

conversation, but as we're wrapping up,

351

:

I want to walk you through an exercise.

352

:

So if you don't have that piece of paper

or that pen, or you don't have a notion

353

:

page up or whatever, or even if you're

listening on the go I want you to listen

354

:

to this, but I want you to make sure that

you put a pin in this and come back to it.

355

:

But if you were in a place to

write this out, I want you to.

356

:

Do a couple of things.

357

:

One, I want you to take about

five minutes to write out what

358

:

your perfect life looks like.

359

:

What is your version of perfect.

360

:

What is your big vision for your life?

361

:

And I want you to think

about four different pillars.

362

:

Think about what your big vision

is for your personal life.

363

:

Does that look like you

get weekly massages?

364

:

Does that look like you

go shopping every weekend?

365

:

Does that look like you

get your hair kneels.

366

:

And toes done once a month,

once every other week.

367

:

What does your personal life look like?

368

:

Think about your health.

369

:

Are you taking your vitamins every day?

370

:

Are you fueling your body with the

things that are healthy or are you

371

:

a foodie and you want to be able to

try a new restaurant every weekend?

372

:

Or maybe you want to do a little bit

of both, but what is it that looks like

373

:

perfection to you in your personal life?

374

:

What time are you waking up?

375

:

What time are you going to bed at night?

376

:

What is your home look like?

377

:

Who is in your home with you.

378

:

So who is helping you

to manage these things?

379

:

Or maybe your goal is to have

no one in the home with you.

380

:

And you want to live a

life of peace and solitude.

381

:

There's no wrong answer here, but I want

you to be cognizant of what perfection

382

:

looks like in your personal life.

383

:

And then I want you to

move on to your family.

384

:

So what is your perfect family look like?

385

:

Do you have kids?

386

:

If so, how many do you

have a significant other?

387

:

If so, How many, I guess.

388

:

But do you have a significant other.

389

:

I think about your parents and

your siblings and things like that.

390

:

Like where are they in relation to you?

391

:

Are you living close to them?

392

:

Are they living with you?

393

:

Think about all of these things

surrounding your family, what do you

394

:

and your family like to do together?

395

:

Do you have weekly movie nights?

396

:

Do you have pizza Fridays?

397

:

Like we do in my house.

398

:

Are we doing sports and activities

and things during the week,

399

:

are we having family travel?

400

:

What does your family life look like?

401

:

And then I want you to move on to work.

402

:

And when I say work, I'm talking about

a full-time or part-time job outside

403

:

of your entrepreneurs, Shipt journey.

404

:

So for me, that is nursing.

405

:

I want you to think about,

do you have a full-time job?

406

:

Do you have a part-time job?

407

:

Where are your benefits coming from?

408

:

If you are choosing to not be employed

or do you need to be employed just

409

:

enough to maintain your benefits?

410

:

What does the work that you're

doing look like for you?

411

:

Are you wanting to keep a

job where you need to work?

412

:

Pretty hard to keep it?

413

:

Where it requires a lot of you

throughout the day, or are you okay with.

414

:

Being a greeter at Walmart because it's

easy, it's consistent income and it

415

:

allows you more time for your business.

416

:

What is it that you are looking to do?

417

:

As it pertains to work

outside of your own business.

418

:

And then last but not least, I

want you to think about business.

419

:

The reason that I'm saving this for last

is because this is the only thing that

420

:

we are building, that we have really.

421

:

Full control over.

422

:

And it should not come.

423

:

Before.

424

:

Your personal life or your family?

425

:

And then once you have those two things

in place and you figure out what work

426

:

looks like to you, as far as outside

of the home, Now you can really look at

427

:

what your business is going to offer your

life and where it is going to fit in.

428

:

Do that last, because you want to build

a business around the life that you

429

:

want to live, and you don't want to

build your life around the business

430

:

that you've created this whole episode.

431

:

Like I said, is that about what

enough means to you taking up the

432

:

exact amount of space that you

are seeking to take up in the time

433

:

that you are taking it up and then.

434

:

Leaving space and leaving opportunity.

435

:

For whoever to come behind

you and leave their mark.

436

:

Once you have written out your big

vision for those four areas of your life.

437

:

I want you to go back and reread it.

438

:

Once you have that done.

439

:

I want you to do something

fun and plug this big vision

440

:

for your life into chat GPT.

441

:

I want you to say.

442

:

My name is Leah.

443

:

Here is my big vision for my life.

444

:

Based on the information that I've given

you, please narrate my perfect day.

445

:

And see what it gives you.

446

:

Once you have your.

447

:

AI generated perfect day

that you have envisioned.

448

:

I want you to take that and either

print it out, take a picture

449

:

of it, whatever you want to do.

450

:

But I want you to use that as.

451

:

Your grounding as your baseline.

452

:

Anytime you are making decisions about

how you're going to grow your business.

453

:

I want you to look back

at your perfect day.

454

:

And I want you to decide if this aligns.

455

:

Of course every day is

not going to be perfect.

456

:

And we know that, but we want you in

the future future, you is going to want

457

:

more perfect days than not perfect days.

458

:

And so that may mean that.

459

:

If you're a perfect day, says that every

day you would like to wake up and make

460

:

your family breakfast in the morning.

461

:

Then your perfect day is not necessarily

going to revolve around you getting

462

:

up early and going into an office.

463

:

Your perfect day is most likely

not going to involve you traveling.

464

:

Three weeks out of every month.

465

:

Okay.

466

:

So the reason for this is

because you want a good baseline.

467

:

And a good vision of where you're going,

so that as you're planning, and as you

468

:

were building this business, you have in

your mind what you said you wanted to do.

469

:

And what you have decided is your version

of enough, and that can help to guide your

470

:

day-to-day planning, your goal setting.

471

:

Your projects that you choose

to work on your tasks that you

472

:

are choosing to do every day.

473

:

It really guides everything.

474

:

If you have a very concrete

vision, So I hope that you found

475

:

this episode to be helpful.

476

:

I know it was a little bit shorter.

477

:

And that was the goal.

478

:

I did not want to ramble.

479

:

So I hope you enjoyed

our episode this week.

480

:

I will see you back

here in the same place.

481

:

Same time next week.

482

:

Bye.

483

:
