Ally
Somehow we built a world where everyone is expected to be fine, to answer politely, to be busy, to have the latest and greatest, to go along with whatever we are told is in our best interest, and to not say or do anything that makes it awkward for anyone, except maybe ourselves.
And then, we wonder why we're so exhausted, why some lash out, and why some even take it to the extremes.
Hey there, I'm Ally Brown.
I'm a writer.
I'm an honest observer.
I'm a hard question asker.
And I'm someone whose thought bubble likes to go whoosh from my brain right up past my lips. I love exploring the complexities and whys of human behavior, and I've spent my personal and professional life as a go-to problem solver. And now, every day, I see our problems in our faces getting bigger and bigger, while the solutions seem further and further down the road. But I still believe in people, and deep down I still believe that life is good.
That's why I created Kindly Brash.
Kindly Brash is built on one belief that when we take a step back and open our eyes, we become able to see things more clearly. And when we do, we strive to do better. And the results will not only make our lives better, but will make things better for everyone.
And the world doesn't get better by pretending everything's fine.
It gets better when people are honest enough to question what is not working. And a lot is not working. Not everything.
But a lot.
And we need to talk about it.
We need to sift through it. We need to make sense of it. And we need to be brave enough to choose something more human. So every Thursday, that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna talk about it.
Real life, human behavior, not-so-common sense, and the things we're all expected to accept, avoid, or pretend are normal. We'll challenge what we've normalized, question the stories we keep repeating, say what needs to be said, and look for a more respectful, compassionate, honest, human way forward in how we think, speak, work, love, lead, and live. We'll talk about the real stuff, the messy stuff, the ridiculous stuff.
We're gonna have the conversations we don't always know how to have. We're gonna talk about the things that have become the new normal, but directly impacted our future, and may make us fear for it. Things like people pleasing, leadership, self trust, adulting, a lack of common sense, where we are today, and whatever else makes us ask, are we seriously still pretending this makes sense? And we're gonna do it with honesty, humor, heart, and a little attitude.
So if you're tired of pretending the nonsense is normal,
Welcome.
You've found your people.
Welcome to Kindly Brash.
