Speaker:Dang.
Speaker:Hello, my me Rising Marketing Tribe today.
Speaker:I'm so excited.
Speaker:We're gonna be talking about YouTube, TikTok.
Speaker:Instagram and podcast wars.
Speaker:we've even got Twitter
Speaker:, it is on you guys.
Speaker:We're in q3 and what some of these platforms are doing is something that you
Speaker:really wanna know about because you're going to want to know how to navigate
Speaker:each different platform for your business.
Speaker:As a content creator, whatever it is that you do, you're gonna wanna know.
Speaker:What they're up to.
Speaker:So in today's episode, I'm gonna fill you in, So make sure that you
Speaker:subscribe to the ME Rising Marketing Podcast if you have not done so for
Speaker:the latest marketing strategies and tips and the latest marketing news.
Speaker:right, so TikTok, let's talk about TikTok.
Speaker:For all you talkers out there, you're not gonna believe what they are doing.
Speaker:So again,
Speaker:to the social media wars, we need to add Amazon as well, because now TikTok
Speaker:wants to compete with Amazon and they are reportedly planning to open a fulfillment
Speaker:center that's gonna compete with Amazon.
Speaker:And when you think about it, it does make sense because when you think about all the
Speaker:content that's being created on TikTok, there's so many content creators that are
Speaker:pushing different makeup items, different beauty items, different home decor
Speaker:items, different podcasting equipment, different office furniture and equipment.
Speaker:This will be interesting.
Speaker:I don't know if they're gonna win over Amazon, but it would be interesting
Speaker:to see if Amazon has some competition and how that goes, because Amazon's
Speaker:been around for a long, long time, and TikTok is gonna be new to the game, but
Speaker:time will tell, but you heard it here.
Speaker:All right, so let's talk about YouTube.
Speaker:For those of you that are thinking about starting a YouTube channel in 2023,
Speaker:that is a great idea, that's for sure.
Speaker:And I also have put together a list of some of my favorite,
Speaker:favorite microphones, ring lights, box lights, laier mics, cameras,
Speaker:everything that you need to start your YouTube channel.
Speaker:So if you go to the show notes and you click on the link that says,
Speaker:YouTube content creator, because here's the deal, Amazon is having
Speaker:their prime early days starting now and a lot of this stuff is on sale.
Speaker:Like the microphones, the headphones, even for podcasting equipment.
Speaker:You know, backlight.
Speaker:Different microphones for laer mics ring lights, anything and everything.
Speaker:And I'm telling you, these are the best prices because I buy this
Speaker:stuff all the time I probably have like eight ring lights right now.
Speaker:So these are my favorite items.
Speaker:And I have purchased these and I've used them myself.
Speaker:I can vouch for them.
Speaker:right, So you can check out the link for that and take advantage.
Speaker:And also, just so you know, for YouTube, you don't necessarily have to
Speaker:have a big, fancy, expensive camera.
Speaker:You can record with your iPhone 13.
Speaker:Our iPhone 14, and it's gonna do exceptionally well.
Speaker:I'll have to do a separate episode about that to make sure
Speaker:you subscribe to the podcast.
Speaker:But let's talk about some YouTube stats right now.
Speaker:This is why YouTube is so powerful.
Speaker:So, . According to HubSpot Blog Research, 56% of marketers that were surveyed
Speaker:in 2022 said that YouTube offers the biggest roi, and that means it's
Speaker:ranking number two, behind Instagram.
Speaker:They also stated that marketers plant invest the most in YouTube in 2020.
Speaker:Then if you didn't know, over 500 hours of video are uploaded
Speaker:to YouTube every single minute.
Speaker:That stat is by Stata, and then over 1 billion hours of videos
Speaker:are watched on YouTube every day.
Speaker:That's a lot of content consumption.
Speaker:And then finally, another favorite stat of mind is that YouTube has over
Speaker:2 billion users, 2 billion users.
Speaker:So if you want a piece of the pie, you've gotta learn what all of these
Speaker:different social media platforms are up to, and you need to think
Speaker:about starting a channel of your.
Speaker:All right.
Speaker:Some other exciting news about YouTube is that they just announced that they're
Speaker:going to have something called handles.
Speaker:And I know that some of you may think they already have handles.
Speaker:I'll explain the difference because there is a difference,
Speaker:according to Tech Crunch.
Speaker:The reason why they're doing this is they want to make it
Speaker:easier for content creators
Speaker:to tag.
Speaker:Direct viewers to their channels.
Speaker:So it's a way for creators to identify their channel.
Speaker:They can have a at and some type of username, and basically it's going to
Speaker:make it easy for them to interact with their viewers across platforms like
Speaker:YouTube, shorts, the channel pages, the Invideo descriptions, and in the comments.
Speaker:and who are these handles going to be available to on YouTube?
Speaker:Well, the good news is you don't have to be a creator of a certain
Speaker:size or have a certain subscriber count to claim your own at handle.
Speaker:And basically, these handles are common You see them on other social media
Speaker:platforms like Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and Telegram, et cetera.
Speaker:But YouTube only offered limited support for the for format.
Speaker:Of handles.
Speaker:What that meant is they allowed creators to mention channels and
Speaker:video titles and descriptions with the AT symbol are mentioned.
Speaker:Other users in like YouTube live chats, for example, but the at option.
Speaker:For the handle was not available in other areas of the platform and
Speaker:discussions, and so previously you would have to reply to another YouTube
Speaker:user's comment in order to tag them.
Speaker:But what YouTube is doing, again, social media wars, you guys,
Speaker:YouTube wants to mirror TikTok.
Speaker:By encouraging users to engage in a back and forth discussion through short videos,
Speaker:and also resulting in discussions and video responses that come about from short
Speaker:form content, and that requires username.
Speaker:So think of how TikTok operates right now.
Speaker:Again, they're mirroring off of TikTok to create this type of
Speaker:functionality and this type of.
Speaker:I'm pretty excited about it.
Speaker:And YouTube says that the handles are gonna appear on both the channel pages
Speaker:and on shorts, It's going to make them recognizable across a platform, and once
Speaker:the handle features fully launch, Users are gonna be able to use the app to
Speaker:mention others in the comments, also in community posts, in video descriptions,
Speaker:and everywhere else, while the handles are not gonna replace the channel name itself,
Speaker:they are going to be unique across YouTube and it's going to give content creators
Speaker:the ability to create a distinct presence for themselves on the YouTube platform.
Speaker:And what's gonna happen is, as you've seen this happen on Instagram, when
Speaker:new features and things are launched, they're rolled out gradually.
Speaker:So handles are gonna start to roll out gradually, starting later next week.
Speaker:What they're also gonna do is to protect content creators from having
Speaker:their channel name taken by someone.
Speaker:Right, because this is gonna be one of the biggest land grabs of usernames
Speaker:on the internet, cuz YouTube is huge.
Speaker:What they're gonna be doing is for channels that already have a
Speaker:personalized url, you're gonna see that is going to become their default
Speaker:handle unless they choose to change it.
Speaker:It's also important to note that the timing of how they're going to roll out
Speaker:the handles has been established in a way to prioritize established craters.
Speaker:They wanna give them first priority or first dips because they're going
Speaker:to be looking at a crater's overall YouTube presence subscriber count,
Speaker:and whether the channel is active or inactive, one, they determine to offer.
Speaker:That particular content creator, the ability to have their own handle because
Speaker:they're not rolling it out a hundred percent to everyone all at once is
Speaker:going to happen in little phases.
Speaker:So that's a little bit of a back tip.
Speaker:. Once you have a handle, then they're also going to create a matching URL
Speaker:that's gonna be in the format of youtube.com/and then you're at and
Speaker:whatever the handle name is, and then that's gonna allow content creators
Speaker:to market their handle elsewhere on the web or in other media online.
Speaker:Also, if a particular channel already had a personalized URL that it was using,
Speaker:they're not gonna need to update their.
Speaker:because that URL is automatically gonna redirect the new handle based URL instead.
Speaker:So the great news is that everyone on YouTube is gonna be able to get a
Speaker:handle for themselves at some point.
Speaker:Keyword here is some point, but it says that YouTube content creators
Speaker:should be looking for notification to arrive in the next month or so.
Speaker:So be on the lookout, you guys, and that's super exciting.
Speaker:So YouTube has recognized the importance of short form content because it's seen
Speaker:how popular TikTok has been and because of that, as you know, a while back,
Speaker:they launched something called YouTube shorts, which is short form video content.
Speaker:But what they're doing now is they have released plans to place ads.
Speaker:In YouTube shorts, and they're getting this from watching what TikTok is
Speaker:doing, the popularity of TikTok, and they don't wanna be left behind.
Speaker:So even if they're not trying to be number one in the space of short form content,
Speaker:they definitely want to be a major player.
Speaker:Now, they're not gonna start rolling out YouTube shorts, ads until next year, but,
Speaker:It's important to know that YouTube could come out as a winner in the short form
Speaker:competition, even if they don't win above TikTok, but they're gonna be up there,
Speaker:so if you guys don't know, YouTube has a pretty sophisticated ad sales
Speaker:platform in business, so they can do quite well when it comes to, creating
Speaker:ads for short form video content.
Speaker:I think a lot of people may take interest in YouTube, adss.
Speaker:The other thing about YouTube, It has the ability to draw in more and
Speaker:more craters and also get them to post long form videos to get even
Speaker:more money coming into the platform.
Speaker:Cuz as you know, when you're watching YouTube videos, you're gonna see ads
Speaker:and the longer video is the more ads that you're going to see in that video.
Speaker:And therefore YouTube makes more money.
Speaker:The other exciting thing that YouTube has done is they have launched a dedicated
Speaker:podcast homepage, and currently it's only for the United States users.
Speaker:They might expand that down the road, but for right now, it is for
Speaker:the US and how you access it as you go to youtube.com/podcast with an S,
Speaker:and you can see when you go to that page, It's like an explorer page
Speaker:and it's showing a lot of the top.
Speaker:Video podcast and you can see what's popular, what's raking in.
Speaker:So my question is, for those of you who have a podcast, let's
Speaker:say you're currently not really taking advantage of video, and
Speaker:sharing your interviews via video.
Speaker:Are you gonna start doing that now?
Speaker:Are you gonna start building up an audience on YouTube as well?
Speaker:Now that they have a page where they are promoting particular podcast.
Speaker:I think it's definitely something to look into and it's also a great
Speaker:way to get an additional audience.
Speaker:But the other cool thing is if you are gonna repurpose your content, you're
Speaker:gonna put it on YouTube and form a video.
Speaker:You can take that video.
Speaker:You can create short form content for YouTube shorts and for TikTok.
Speaker:So then you're hitting both platforms and also for Instagram
Speaker:reels and even Facebook reels.
Speaker:So it's just a matter of knowing how to repurpose your content.
Speaker:You create it one time, you repurpose it, and really that ends
Speaker:up saving you so much time and you can just get a much broader reach.
Speaker:Cuz when you think about being on multiple platforms, you're gonna
Speaker:get a little bit of a different audience too, because some people.
Speaker:They may only be spending their time on TikTok and maybe they're
Speaker:not spending time on Instagram, or maybe they are spending time, but
Speaker:they're not spending as much time.
Speaker:So when you think about diversifying and you know, I'm not saying make
Speaker:more work, but I'm saying if you work smarter, not harder, you can reach
Speaker:a lot more people and it might be something you want to consider doing.
Speaker:So the other thing that's really exciting, That I'm excited about is if you love
Speaker:creating content for reels or you love watching reels, you love learning about
Speaker:how to create better content while meta, who owns Facebook now they are
Speaker:having crater week, and it's gonna be from November 1st through the seventh.
Speaker:Of 2022.
Speaker:And this year it's gonna be even the biggest celebration so far.
Speaker:Now how this works is they are inviting particular craters to
Speaker:come out in real life in certain, parts of the US and the world.
Speaker:And that's basically includes Los Angeles, it includes Bali, it
Speaker:includes Brazil, London, and then In India, it includes New Delhi.
Speaker:But the cool thing is that, you know, you don't have to get an invite to
Speaker:be a part of it and be involved so you can actually get involved by
Speaker:following the Craters on Instagram.
Speaker:And then you can also follow meta for craters on Facebook
Speaker:and you can join the events and can see what's happening online.
Speaker:But you can see what your favorite creators are gonna be sharing in
Speaker:terms of their journey, how they have become successful, what tips
Speaker:they have for creating content.
Speaker:And really you can get the scoop on how to use.
Speaker:Meta's newest tools and what's coming next for craters and content creators.
Speaker:So I think that this is an event that you wanna just, be on the lookout for
Speaker:and you want to know what's happening.
Speaker:And then the other thing that's interesting is that meta announced
Speaker:that it's gonna be increasing.
Speaker:The advertising categories and abilities on Instagram, so they're
Speaker:gonna have two more different type of ad slots, and they're going
Speaker:to allow advertisers to run ads.
Speaker:On the Explorer homepage and also in the profile feeds.
Speaker:It's gonna have a new type of ad format for Facebook reels.
Speaker:So that's pretty exciting cuz if you wanna promote your business, you
Speaker:wanna know what's coming up next.
Speaker:These are some of the things that are coming up next, but what you're gonna
Speaker:start to see as far as trends for the different platforms for 2023 is they're
Speaker:really going to be watching what other.
Speaker:Platforms are doing, and they're going to be mirroring off of that because they
Speaker:wanna make sure that they're not missing out because they don't have a feature.
Speaker:Or they don't have something that it's driving someone
Speaker:to go to, let's say, TikTok.
Speaker:But then, you know, Instagram doesn't have it.
Speaker:Cause I mean, as you know, TikTok is the original, platform that created
Speaker:reels and short form video content.
Speaker:And then, Instagram and Facebook also did that, you know, and even
Speaker:LinkedIn, you know, has their form of you know, short form content in a way.
Speaker:. You know, it's just a matter of watching what they're doing and they're
Speaker:going to be reeling out more and more features, more and more things.
Speaker:One of the things I've also heard rumblings about is on TikTok,
Speaker:there's going to be static, like photo content as well.
Speaker:So then they're kind of mirroring off of Instagram in that sense, right?
Speaker:So look out for all those things.
Speaker:So I also wanna talk about Twitter cuz Twitter has some
Speaker:interesting things going on.
Speaker:They're also going to be adding the ability to edit your post.
Speaker:Because in the past when you wanted to edit a post, you couldn't,
Speaker:would literally have to go delete it or just keep it up there.
Speaker:And if you made a typo, you know, it wasn't, it wasn't the easiest way.
Speaker:And I also got a notification this morning in my Twitter account that
Speaker:says photos, videos, and gift.
Speaker:In one tweet, we're testing a new feature that lets you add multiple
Speaker:types of media to a single.
Speaker:Go ahead, mix things up.
Speaker:So that's kind of cool too.
Speaker:So what you're seeing is that all of the social media platforms are taking
Speaker:bits and pieces from each other and incorporating those things into their own
Speaker:platform because they really wanna make sure that they're capturing, the audience
Speaker:and they're not losing their audience.
Speaker:Right.
Speaker:To another platform.
Speaker:So, I'm gonna say they're all gonna have to step it up and keep stepping
Speaker:it up because the social media wars are gonna continue to happen.
Speaker:So I am excited to see what kind of content you guys are gonna
Speaker:create if you need help with your content marketing strategy.

Speaker:strategy for next year, now's the time I offer free consultation.
