Shownotes
Welcome to RadioFolk.dk's podcast Folk Live. In this edition of the podcast we will be featuring the Danish duo Barani, recorded at the famous Tønder Festival that runs during the last weekend of August every year.
Anders Ringaard plays the accordion, and Maja Aarøe Freese plays the cello, and they both sing, writes songs and compose music. They also sometimes pic one or two songs from the rich Danish song tradition. Their tunes are inspired by the town of Svendborg at the Danish island of Funen, where they live, and by traditional dance grooves like polka and Schottish.
According to Anders Ringgaard the duo is 'composing and playing for an audience that simply loves folk music, but also enoys being challenged when listening to new songs and music now and then'.
We are going to listen to about 25 minutes of songs and music by Barani. They will start the concert by playing Anders Ringaard's tune 'Christiansminde', a tribute to a wonderful little beach and meeting point in the town of Svendborg.
