Show Notes: • The first aspect of prayer is a worship to the Father. • Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done. • My maturing is going to come through waiting on God. • Lord, give me ears to hear. • What is the will of God for that person we are praying for? References: Matthew 6:5-15 The Disciples prayer (Lord’s prayer) Galatians 5:22, 23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Isaiah 40:31 Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Psalms 119:81, 82 My soul languishes for Thy salvation; I wait for Thy word. My eyes fail with longing for Thy word, Ecclesiastes 5:1, 2 Guard your steps as you go to the house of God, and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil. Take Away: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing; Our prayer is an expression of our relationship with God our Father. Honoring and giving Him praise, worship, and giving up of ourselves to hear what He wants to say to us.

Ron:

Hello everyone, I am Ron your host and today we are going to discussing a topic that is very near and dear to my heart and that is prayer and intercession. We know there is many different aspects and ways to pray. We would like to discuss a couple aspects that may be aren’t so widely taught out there. One being the prayer of listening and the prayer of waiting on the Lord. How important is it to just sit quietly and just listen to His voice? How important is it to just wait on Him with your heart, your spirit set and focused intensely on Him? Well, let’s get into it, family. I am really excited about hearing about what the Holy Spirit got to reveal and speak about these different aspects of prayer.

Dale:

We are talking about one of the basics. And that basic is that prayer life. But there is a lot that God wants to do through prayer and it is not the prayer that we were taught, lay me down to sleep my soul, my Lord, please keep. That was a child and I am not a child anymore. I want to walk with God as a mature son and I think it is going to come through prayer, it’s going to become through waiting upon Him. And as we wait on Him we will mount up with wings of eagles. There is so many things that waiting on God brings about. It is a subject maybe not a whole lot of people are aware of or maybe they are, prayers of listening and prayers of waiting. Same thing. Waiting on the Lord is an absolute necessity to walk with God. What is prayers of waiting? It is a kind of prayer, it’s a prayer that listens with a drive of your heart, a drive of your spirit to listen, not always having to have an answer. And it is a prayer that forms a relationship. There is something in you and something in me that wants God to act on our behalf. Let’s pray and let’s listen to what He has to say. But there is that prayer that says speak Lord for thy servant heareth. That is an awesome prayer and it is short and it is right to the point. Speak Lord for thy servant heareth. Or Lord give me ears to hear. Lord give me eyes to see. These are prayers of something that you want to receive from God, not for your own advantage. You want to know what He is doing. You want to be a part of it. Lead me, Lord, show me the way to go, and listen. You may not get anything listening right away or you maybe you might get volumes. That is between you and Him but I guarantee you based on my experience if I listen He will speak. It is important to realize this that God is speaking all the time. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. It’s up to us to position ourselves to hear His voice. And we do it by opening up to Him and praying with ears to hear. Without opening our mouths we position our ears in the flow of His voice.

Ron:

I think that this is one of the basic principles. It takes a while to start getting into it because we have been taught all these different ways of praying. We pray about things, we pray to God because we want things, we pray against evil, we pray about everything. Everything basically we don’t like and some things that we want but I think this while thing of listening prayers, the waiting on God prayers I think that is where we are going. It’s probably the most intense action that I think you can do. There is a broken spirit in it. Creates a broken spirit in you. It’s probably the most effective thing that we can do. I think as the body of Christ is beginning to touch on this. I think it is going to bring us to a place that our words will be few because we will realize it is not what’s we say, it’s what’s in what we say. We can talk all day, pray all day nothing happens. Or we can be in His presence and say one word with an anointed, an anointing and everything happens.

Dale:

There is a very basic part of prayer and that is the difference between petitioning on your behalf and even petitioning on behalf of others. What is the will of God for that person? What I need to find out is I need to find out the will of God. That is a very basic tenant of prayer. So, prayer is an important part of how we change. How do we change? We change through prayer. How do I become pleasing to the Lord? Through prayer. I tell you what we keep talking about this we are all going to be busy as ever saying, Lord give me and He doesn’t mind you asking and then listening. He doesn’t mind you receiving and then come back and asking for more. Father, I open my heart to you and I appropriate my daily bread. I appropriate forgiveness. I appropriate the love of the brothers and sisters you have put around me and I appropriate your love for me.
