Shownotes

In today’s episode, I’m talking about the danger in “you can’t hurt my feelings - I work with my family.” This is often a sign that we've learned to disconnect from our own pain.

When we normalize harsh words and emotional wounds, we normalize unhealthy relationships. Over time, we convince ourselves that being hurt is just part of the job (or culture).

Numbness doesn't mean we're okay, though - it simply means we've stopped noticing the bleeding. The cost of that mindset reaches far beyond hurt feelings. It affects our families, communities, and even the future of agriculture.

Ultimately, real change (and good movement) doesn't begin with everyone else - it begins with us.

In this episode, I cover:

  • Why harsh words shouldn't be normalized as part of family culture
  • Why numbness is NOT the same as strength
  • The disproportionately high suicide rates among farmers & ranchers
  • How we can help reverse this harmful rhetoric
