Nathan:

You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Jesus. Matthew 5:27, 28. Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is Day 20 of 30 Days on the Mount of Blessing. Jesus gets to the heart of morality: when men(or women) objectify the other as mere sex-drive-satisfaction-objects they violate the Biblical paradigm of sexual purity. No human being is anything less than a being designed in God’s own image. No human being is merely an object for our curiosity or personal gratification—even if they make money doing it. We have a Biblical mandate to treat—even in our own headspace—all others with utmost respect and kindness. No one should be dishonored or mistreated, even within the private precinct of our own thoughts. No one, not even our spouses, deserves to be treated as a sex-object. It’s should be obvious, but Jesus’ words clearly include pornography, lustful glances, sex-obsessed tv, probably the vast majority of romance novels, etc—all abuse the wonder and beauty of human dignity, distorting our own perception of other human beings and how we treat them.
