Transcripts

Speaker A:

Growing a podcast isn't the easiest thing to do, but if you're here, you know that there's a solution for that.

Speaker A:

Just like anything in life, there are multiple paths to seek growth.

Speaker A:

If you have a budget for it, you can invest in ads.

Speaker A:

If you're budget wise, you can do podcast swaps or feed drops on other creators feeds.

Speaker A:

You can also go downtown and hold a sign up by you podcast that's free.

Speaker A:

Just joking.

Speaker A:

If these options sound either overwhelming, too crazy, or just something that you don't want to take on, but you want to grow, then you have to check these nine places that will give your podcast immediate visibility and that can be completed in less than one hour.

Speaker A:

Does that sound appealing enough?

Speaker A:

I hope it does.

Speaker A:

Some of these places you may have a link to your podcast already, and others you'll just be learning about them.

Speaker A:

No matter what, you know that these are going to be impactful.

Speaker A:

I'm Anne Xavier and this is the Podcast Space, a practical podcast that will get you unstuck on your podcast journey.

Speaker A:

Let's go.

Speaker A:

First things first, here's a fun fact about this podcast episode.

Speaker A:

You know how much I love talking about how you have to start working smarter and not harder and avoid the hamster wheel of constantly having to think about what the hell do you post?

Speaker A:

m posts that I did earlier in:

Speaker A:

You'll probably be shocked by, or maybe not.

Speaker A:

But here's the truth.

Speaker A:

There are multiple ways to repurpose your content, and in this episode I'm going to reveal these nine places.

Speaker A:

And so if you're curious about which post I'm talking about, well, you can go ahead and go into the show notes because I have a link to that.

Speaker A:

All right, but let's get into the episode.

Speaker A:

I'm going to go over the nine and then give you a little bit of a recap.

Speaker A:

So let's start with number one, your email signature.

Speaker A:

I actually have to admit that I forgot to add a link to my podcast on my email signature for almost two months.

Speaker A:

And if you didn't think about how important it is, well, think about the amount of emails you send.

Speaker A:

Out.

Speaker A:

On a daily basis, you send probably at least two emails.

Speaker A:

And while you may have your name, your title, your contact information and your website, why not tell people that you were a podcast host, that you have a podcast?

Speaker A:

They will do a couple of things.

Speaker A:

One, it will help elevate your brand for people and kind of like made them realize that you're more than just a professional in the industry.

Speaker A:

You actually have a show.

Speaker A:

If you're thinking about where you should link to it, well, probably to your podcast page.

Speaker A:

And that way people can subscribe using whatever platform that they normally subscribe to podcasts.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

So that's a good starting point.

Speaker A:

Number two, business cards.

Speaker A:

I had so many clients that never thought about putting the podcast on their business card.

Speaker A:

And there's some really cool ways to include your podcast links.

Speaker A:

So you can have a QR code, you can have just the name of the podcast.

Speaker A:

Ideally, you want to make their life easier.

Speaker A:

Right?

Speaker A:

So if you can have a QR code or.

Speaker A:

And again, this is kind of like thinking ahead of time.

Speaker A:

And if you're like environmentally conscious, well, maybe you get one of those stamps that have a QR code in it and you stamp the business card with a QR code to the podcast.

Speaker A:

If you're getting new business cards, well, great.

Speaker A:

Don't send them to either Spotify or Apple Podcasts because again, maybe they don't subscribe to podcasts or maybe they have the app, but they don't listen to those podcasts in there.

Speaker A:

For instance, I have Apple Podcasts, and I still consume podcasts through Spotify.

Speaker A:

Number three, LinkedIn profile featured section.

Speaker A:

When you're going to your profile, you can have the ability to add, I think it's up to five or six links.

Speaker A:

And if you can put a link to your podcast right there, because when someone is looking through your profile, that would be one of the first things that they will see.

Speaker A:

It's super easy to do.

Speaker A:

And by the way, if you're there, if you happen to create content on LinkedIn, make sure that you have the creator mode up on.

Speaker A:

All right, number four, social media URLs.

Speaker A:

So normally on your profiles on TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, every single platform, Twitter or X, you can go ahead and actually put the podcast link there.

Speaker A:

What I have for mine actually is I do another thing.

Speaker A:

I create a landing page and I have, I think it's called the podcastspace.com links and on there I have maybe three to four buttons.

Speaker A:

I have my freebie, I have the podcast, and I have, I think, subscribe to the newsletter and something else, maybe the website link itself.

Speaker A:

And what this does is when you're talking about the podcast, it just makes it easier for people to follow it.

Speaker A:

And again, make sure that you're sending people to your website, ideally not to another place.

Speaker A:

All right, moving into your Website number five is your website menu.

Speaker A:

So many people put the podcast on their homepage or just have like, maybe let's say your podcast is hosted on Captivate or your podcast is hosted on anchor or what is now Spotify for podcasters.

Speaker A:

Basically, you want to make sure that people, when they find out about you through a different medium other than the podcast, that you're giving them an opportunity for them to find out about the show and listen.

Speaker A:

If you haven't listened to episode 16, optimizing your online presence 6 must have elements for podcasters who want to be professional.

Speaker A:

So that episode actually goes through every single thing that should be on your website.

Speaker A:

So that's a great episode to listen to.

Speaker A:

I'll have the link in the show notes before we move into the next one, something that I get asked often.

Speaker A:

So should the tab be called Podcast?

Speaker A:

Should it have the name of the podcast?

Speaker A:

Well, ideally you want a navigation menu to be really small and not have like a gazillion options because people just get very confused.

Speaker A:

And even though you've looked at your website a thousand times, when you land on a website that has many, many links, you end up being very overwhelmed and you probably will close the window.

Speaker A:

So if you want, just have the word podcast and then they will find out about the name of the podcast later when they click on it.

Speaker A:

And so, for instance, if they're looking at it on a mobile phone on a smaller screen can even tell you about our client, Lori Williams.

Speaker A:

So her podcast is called Aging in Style with Lori Williams, and it's an enormous name.

Speaker A:

So imagine how the tabs would look like.

Speaker A:

It would be ridiculous, right?

Speaker A:

So make sure they include the name podcast, but that you are actually including the name of the actual show on that page once people click through.

Speaker A:

All right, number six, having a link to the podcast on your speaker or bio document, this is such an overlooked strategy.

Speaker A:

So let's say I meet someone and I happen to not mention a podcast, but they want me on their show.

Speaker A:

Well, the podcast can be included there and again, make it easier for them.

Speaker A:

So make sure they include a direct link to your show there.

Speaker A:

And so it can be at the end, it can say, hey, listen to the podcast.

Speaker A:

It can be within your bio itself.

Speaker A:

So just make sure that is very clear that you also have a podcast in your speaker bio.

Speaker A:

Number seven, if you have a personal website, make sure that there's a link to the podcast there.

Speaker A:

This is again, another missed opportunity.

Speaker A:

This is very common for people who have had, like, multiple companies who maybe are writers and have, you know, just a lot going on.

Speaker A:

If a lot of people go to your personal website, it's a huge opportunity to capture new listeners.

Speaker A:

Even if you know the podcast is not necessarily pertaining to your personal life, it's still an opportunity to capture new listeners.

Speaker A:

But also think about how organic search works.

Speaker A:

The more links to a website you have, the better Google ranks it.

Speaker A:

And so if you're linking your personal website to your podcast website or your company's website, it's going to signal to Google that this company is good.

Speaker A:

So, again, another reason that is unrelated to the podcast, still valuable.

Speaker A:

Okay, moving on to number eight, your book or your ebook.

Speaker A:

If you have a book coming up, make sure that you have a link or a name of the podcast again, or a QR code that they can scan and land directly on your podcast.

Speaker A:

Again, it is something that you.

Speaker A:

Again, you can't assume that just because someone buys a book from you that they will know that you have a podcast, right?

Speaker A:

Maybe they were gifted the book by someone else.

Speaker A:

So don't assume that they will know.

Speaker A:

Everything is an opportunity to get those eyes and those ears on your podcast.

Speaker A:

And then number nine, last but not least, your newsletter footer.

Speaker A:

I want you to think about how many emails you send a year.

Speaker A:

That's a lot.

Speaker A:

e been creating content since:

Speaker A:

And that's something that a lot of people don't know.

Speaker A:

So I decided, okay, when I added it to my email signature, I also put it in the footer of my newsletter.

Speaker A:

I send two newsletters a week, and so I always make sure that if people found me on, you know, the online space for just searching for a query that they had that they know that they can subscribe to the podcast, too.

Speaker A:

All right, so let's go through the list.

Speaker A:

Number one, your email signature.

Speaker A:

Two, business cards.

Speaker A:

Three, LinkedIn profile featured section.

Speaker A:

Four, social media URLs or your links in bio.

Speaker A:

Number five, website menu.

Speaker A:

Six, speaker or Ubio document.

Speaker A:

Number seven, homepage of your personal website.

Speaker A:

Number eight, your book or your eBook.

Speaker A:

And number nine, your newsletter footer.

Speaker A:

If you were almost like playing bingo with this, how many did you get?

Speaker A:

I want you to tell me if you learned about a new one.

Speaker A:

I'm going to be guessing that the link profile feature section is going to be a new one for you, so I'd love to hear from you.

Speaker A:

I'm online at the podcast space on any social media, primarily on Instagram, but and also you can drop me an email and subscribe to the newsletter, which will be available@thepodcastspace.com There's a pop up in which you can sign up directly there, or you can scroll all the way to the bottom of the website and you can sign up there.

Speaker A:

You'll receive two different newsletters to jumpstart your podcast and create a podcast that you love and you're proud of.

Speaker A:

Everything that I mentioned on these podcast episodes will be in the show notes, so make sure that you check out those and I cannot wait to hear from you.

Speaker A:

Have a fantastic week and keep creating content that is imperfect and moves you forward.

Speaker A:

Bye.
