Shownotes
This one goes out to all the teachers who made Paul feel bad for asking questions because they didn't have the answers and couldn't handle the discomfort. He asked questions. They fussed. He kept asking. Turns out he was a skeptic way before he had the word for it — writing rap songs called Questions Number One and Questions Number Two in his 20s. Now he's 50 and still questioning. You taste something bad on somebody's face but then take their word for it when it comes to knowledge. Don't do that. Be the troublemaker. Ask the question. It is what it is.
Takeaways:
- Making better judgment is not the same as being judgmental — critical thinking requires judgment
- Don't be gullible — if you never verify what someone tells you you have no right to argue against it either
- The blind leading the blind — why would you follow someone without knowing if they can even see
- You wouldn't eat something just because someone told you it tastes good without seeing their face — apply that same logic to information
- Being a skeptic since your 20s and still questioning at 50 is not a problem — it is the path
- Be that troublemaker — the ones who asked questions found the peace that the ones who stayed quiet never did
