Shownotes

The main focus of this episode is the importance of continuing faith in the Christian journey, emphasizing that true belief is an ongoing commitment rather than a momentary decision. Dr. David Spoon delves into Colossians 1:21-23, explaining how our reconciliation with God through the physical body of Jesus enables us to be presented holy and blameless. He reminds listeners that this faith must be established and firm, anchored in the hope of the gospel, which brings strength and purpose to our lives. The discussion further highlights the significance of recognizing God's continual presence and the sacrifices made in our spiritual walk, reinforcing that nothing we give up for Him goes unnoticed. Tune in for insightful reflections on faith, perseverance, and the encouragement to remain steadfast in belief.

Takeaways:

  • Understanding that our faith must be a continuous journey and not a momentary decision.
  • The reconciliation with God through Jesus is essential for being blameless before Him.
  • Believing in Jesus requires ongoing faith that impacts our actions and choices.
  • Spiritual warfare begins with our thoughts; we must focus on God's truths.
  • The gift of salvation empowers us to live holy, unblemished lives in God's presence.
  • The importance of encouragement in our Christian journey cannot be overstated; we need each other.

Deeply rooted in scripture, David Spoon's discussion in this episode grapples with fundamental Christian doctrines as presented in Colossians. He articulates the significance of Christ's work in reconciling believers to God, emphasizing that it is through Christ's physical body and sacrifice that believers can stand blameless before God. This episode delves into the theological nuances surrounding justification and sanctification, exploring how these concepts influence the believer’s daily life. David particularly focuses on Colossians 1:23, where Paul emphasizes the necessity of steadfastness in faith, challenging listeners to consider the implications of a faith that is not just a momentary acknowledgment but a lifelong commitment.

Through engaging storytelling and humor, David intersperses biblical teachings with personal anecdotes, making the theological concepts relatable and applicable to everyday life. He encourages listeners to reflect on their faith's authenticity and to actively cultivate their relationship with God. By addressing common misconceptions about faith, such as the idea that a single moment of belief suffices, David urges his audience to engage in a deeper, more meaningful spiritual journey. The episode also features interactive elements, including trivia questions that invite listener participation, creating a vibrant community atmosphere.

In addition to theological discourse, the episode emphasizes the importance of prayer and testimony within the Christian community. David invites listeners to share their experiences and prayer requests, highlighting the supportive nature of the church in nurturing faith. This call to action not only strengthens the bonds between listeners but also reinforces the idea that faith flourishes in community. Ultimately, the episode is a rich tapestry of teaching, encouragement, and community engagement, urging listeners to deepen their understanding of faith and to live it out boldly.

Transcripts

David:

And now for something completely different.

David:

Here's what's coming up this hour on today's Experience.

David:

It's Expository Thursday.

David:

Expository Thursday.

David:

That's just for Roslyn.

David:

So we work together to know the letter better into the narrative of the Book of Colossians.

David:

We travel to understand what things the Lord requires of us as we learn to apply God's timeless truths in our lives.

David:

First, we pick it back up in Colossians 1:21, where Paul, writing to the Church of Colossae, makes the strongest theological argument for Christology, which we mentioned last week, which of course means the study of Christ.

David:

Christology, study of Christ.

David:

And it's the most powerful statement of any epistle that we mentioned in the New Testament.

David:

The key component to understanding spiritual warfare and walking closely with the Lord has to do with what we will allow where between our left and our right ear.

David:

The reason for our justification, sanctification and eventual glorification is to present us wholly unblemished and blameless in the presence of the Father.

David:

In more simplistic terms, we get it all through the work of Jesus so we can spend eternity with our heavenly Father, and we are given this gift so that we can forever be present with the Lord.

David:

Verse 23, though didn't get to it last week, but we're getting to it today, gives us a major caveat in the Christian faith, which people tend to ignore.

David:

It's not complex and it doesn't change the framework of grace or the framework of mercy.

David:

It says, if indeed we continue in our faith, let's stop with the nonsense.

David:

Our faith is how we receive the love of God extended to us through his grace, through Jesus Christ.

David:

But it's based on our continual belief and not on a momentary yes, David.

David Spoon:

Spoon's life has been an experience.

David Spoon:

David:

Now, we've already told you a trillion times, it's not professional radio.

David:

It's just Radio.

David:

But we want to know what you think, so you can email us during the show.

David:

David must increase.org that's David at he must increase.org.

David:

you can text us:

David:

David:

Talking to Jam and Jacobs.

David:

The same feeling you get when you know you're being appreciated.

David:

Oh, that's so nice.

Jacob:

Thank you, David.

Jacob:

Happy Thursday.

David:

Happy Thursday to you, my friend.

David:

So I think we'll probably end up doing what Jake's take tomorrow.

David:

Is that kind of what we need to do?

David:

Because we don't anything that's really pressing for today.

David:

Right?

David:

Okay, that's good.

David:

Keep Jim and Jacob in prayer, like also Don and Jennifer.

David:

But he's got to put together the editing on the audio book, so I feel more sorry for him than I feel sorry for me.

David:

You have to do it anyway.

Jacob:

It's okay.

Jacob:

The book's not as long as the last one, so it won't take as long.

David:

It is shorter.

David:

I will give you that.

David:

It is shorter.

David:

I've learned that sometimes being long winded, well, that's just the problem with.

Jacob:

Well, just overall, the process has gone faster because I think we've gotten the flow and gotten used to how we want to do it compared to the last book.

David:

Yeah, it's actually.

David:

It's almost like after the third time we're getting it.

Jacob:

It took a while, right?

David:

It does take a while.

David:

I'm not sure why Christians understand it takes a while.

David:

It takes a little bit.

David:

Oh, yeah.

David:

Oh, yeah.

David:

Okay, now I get it.

David:

Okay.

David:

Get it.

David:

Okay, cool.

David:

All right, so look at.

David:

Why would you reach out to us?

David:

Why would you call us?

David:

Why would you text us?

David:

Why would you email us?

David:

Why would you hire an airplane to drive by the studio with a little banner behind it telling us what you're thinking?

David:

Or why would you even do a fancy dance or even go out on your front porch and go, hey, David, why would you do any of that?

David:

It's simple.

David:

It's so that you can share a praise report or a testimony if you've got that rolling around in your heart and something the Lord's done and you know you need to share it.

David:

And that's just a good thing.

David:

Thing Maybe you've got a prayer request, right?

David:

We're praying for the churches, we pray for people's holidays, pray for traveling mercies, all of these things.

David:

And by the way, traveling mercies is biblical.

David:

Read Nehemiah and Ezra.

David:

And maybe you got something you just want to share, something that's on your heart.

David:

Maybe you even feel like, you know, I'm feeling pretty tuned up.

David:

You did that Christmas trivia questions yesterday.

David:

Where are you going to head to it today?

David:

Well, today I'm going to do something a little different.

David:

I want to theme it out all the time.

David:

And here today, this is going to be a little bit more about moms.

David:

I don't know why.

David:

Just want to do it that way.

David:

Here it is, Mom.

David:

Ready?

David:

Who was the mother of Ishmael and the handmaiden of Sarah?

David:

Genesis chapter 16, verses 1 through 4.

David:

Who was the mother of Ishmael and the handmaiden of Sarah, Abraham's wife?

David:

Who was that?

David:

Genesis chapter 16, verses 1 through 4.

David:

If you think you know the answer, by the way, you are welcome to do The Ringy Dingy one.

David:

Ringy Dingy two Ringy Dingies.

David:

The number here, 972.

David:

4450770.

David:

-:

David:

You can also text with your phone because we let you do that and it's fun.

David:

-:

David:

-:

David:

Or you can send an email.

David:

David, he must increase do who was the mother of Ishmael and the handmaiden of Sarah, Abram's wife?

David:

Genesis 16:1 4.

David:

That is your opportunity to figure that out.

David:

I do want people to be aware.

David:

I do want you to check out the website because on the website, of course, is a place for prayer requests and praise reports.

David:

And those are important because it's important for you to understand that other Bible believing born again Christians who are not perfect like you're not perfect, but saved like you're saved, are willing to pray for you so that you can draw closer to the Lord.

David:

And that's good to know and good to participate in.

David:

Okay, that's pretty simple.

David:

Ha ha ha.

David:

All right.

David:

Who was the mother of Ishmael and headmaiden of Sarah, which was Abraham's wife?

David:

Genesis 16:1 4.

David:

Somebody is ready to answer trivia question.

David:

Let's send them on through.

David:

Knock, knock, knock.

David:

This is David.

David:

Who am I talking to?

David:

David.

Sergio:

Good afternoon, Sergio.

David:

Hello, Sergio.

David:

How are you, my brother?

Sergio:

Good.

Sergio:

How Are you.

David:

I'm doing wonderful.

David:

I'm doing wonderful.

David:

I gave you a shout out the other day.

David:

I was really disappointed about that football game.

David:

But I still have hope and I have not burned my shirt.

David:

So I just want you to know I am faithful and true in this.

David:

Okay.

David:

All right, let me set you up with a question.

David:

You ready for it?

Sergio:

Yes, yes.

Sergio:

As a matter of fact, a disclaimer here.

Sergio:

If I don't get it, David, please help me, because I think I want to exercise my bfn, you know, experiences.

David:

Yep.

David:

All right, Here we go.

David:

All right.

David:

Make sure you get there.

David:

Who was the mother of Ishmael, and she was also the handmaiden of Sarah, according to Genesis 16:1 4.

David:

Who was that?

Sergio:

Hagar.

David:

That is correct.

David:

Amanda.

David:

Sir, you are 100% correct, and you have.

David:

Ethan, effectively used your bfn in the book.

David:

Excellently.

David:

Because that is correct.

David:

That was the.

David:

What?

David:

I mean, it's just such an amazing story, but it's like, really, you're going to help.

David:

Got along.

David:

Look how that's going to turn out.

David:

Oh, wait, that didn't turn out so good.

David:

Oops.

David:

Right?

Sergio:

Yeah.

Sergio:

And I think, you know, in my journey, you and the audience have been part of my journey.

Sergio:

You know, I'm.

Sergio:

I'm coming up on Deuteronomy now.

Sergio:

And so Genesis was not too long ago.

Sergio:

And that's when I.

Sergio:

When I heard the trivia question, I was like, man, should I call in?

Sergio:

And I thought, you know what?

Sergio:

I feel fairly confident about this.

Sergio:

So that's the reason why I called it.

David:

That is great.

David:

And it shows you that you've retained it.

David:

And I have actually.

David:

I prayed for you.

David:

And I know this sounds crazy, but I was reading in Deuteronomy on something, and as I was reading, I thought, oh, oh, oh, Sergio's getting ready to go into Deuteronomy.

David:

And I said, lord, just open his eyes.

David:

Because I think you'll just be like, wow.

David:

Because it's.

David:

You know, I love Genesis.

David:

I love Exodus.

David:

I read Leviticus.

David:

I said that.

David:

I enjoy half of numbers, but Deuteronomy is some powerful, powerful stuff.

David:

It is the book Jesus used only to refute Satan in the desert.

David:

That's how powerful.

Sergio:

Yeah, I've heard you say that.

Sergio:

So I've got one last question.

Sergio:

David, now hang up.

Sergio:

So.

Sergio:

So I did read the first chapter of Deuteronomy.

Sergio:

I'm going to reread it again, because that's just how I am.

Sergio:

Once I don't get when I don't understand something, I reread it.

Sergio:

I take my time.

Sergio:

Dumb, dumb question.

Sergio:

You know, Genesis, kind of like Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, that's kind of stuff.

Sergio:

Romans, Those are self explanatory.

Sergio:

What is the word Deuteronomy?

Sergio:

That's my question.

Sergio:

And thank you for all you do.

Sergio:

Thank you for being part of my journey.

Sergio:

I'll take your answer off the phone and.

David:

You got it, brother.

David:

You got it.

David:

All right.

David:

So I am going to let the audience help me because I used to know it and now I can't remember it.

David:

So Genesis is beginning.

David:

Exodus is what they did.

David:

I don't know if Deuteronomy is closure on journey.

David:

I've heard that before.

David:

And so I'd like somebody to do me a favor.

David:

You can text, you can call in.

David:

I want you to help me because I remember it.

David:

It is ultimately go in and possess.

David:

But I can't remember the direct transliteration off the top of my head because I'm old and I don't know.

David:

So both of those.

David:

So, brother, we're going to have the audience help.

David:

We're going to have anybody who can track down the specific meaning of Deuteronomy, they will send to us and I will communicate to you on the airways.

David:

Is that fair?

David:

Fair.

David:

Fair enough.

David:

Okay, cool.

David:

All right.

David:

So if you can track down for me, people, okay, I'm asking the audience to help.

David:

Help Dave.

David:

Help Dave go in and look up Deuteronomy.

David:

Means what?

David:

Because I can't remember for whatever.

David:

For whatever it is, I can't remember.

David:

It's closure, a journey, words.

David:

So somebody look it up for me.

David:

Reach out and then we will get that back to our buddy.

David:

But what a great job Sergio did.

David:

Arizona.

David:

There goes.

David:

You have to know you're a doctor.

David:

Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

David:

That's all I know.

David:

Look up Deuteronomy for me, please.

David:

And let's get that to him.

David:

I have a couple things that I think it is, but I don't want to say it with authority because I just don't think that's the thing to do.

David:

Okay, so you, let's get somebody who can have some backup on that for Dave and help me out.

David:

In the meantime, we will still do our DNA.

David:

What a great job, Sergio.

David:

You did.

David:

What a great, great, great, great, great job.

David:

Really.

David:

Okay.

David:

All right, so let's go to our DNA.

David:

D stands for Draw closer to the Lord daily.

David:

So let's think about daily.

David:

Let's think about what that means.

David:

Are you done thinking?

David:

Okay, good.

David:

It doesn't Take that much to figure it out.

David:

We just need to spend time with the Lord.

David:

Now, I did mention this and there are some people saying that Deuteronomy means these are the words.

David:

Let's get a few more people to verify that.

David:

That would be good.

David:

That Deuteronomy, actually its transliteration is these are the words.

David:

Got Eric saying that and Shel saying that.

David:

Let's verify that, please.

David:

Very good so far.

David:

In the meantime, DNA draw closer to the Lord daily.

David:

Here's the thing.

David:

Don't tell me you don't have time.

David:

Okay, I'm just going to say that right now.

David:

Don't tell me you don't have time.

David:

I've been able to make time over a 27 year period not to miss a single day for spending an hour with the Lord.

David:

You can make time.

David:

You can make time.

David:

If you have to get 15 minutes less sleep so you can in fact have a better life.

David:

It's worth it.

David:

That's all I'm saying.

David:

Okay?

David:

All right.

David:

Just gonna say that right there.

David:

Okay.

David:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David:

If you've noticed, there's a little more confidence in Christians of late.

David:

I don't know if it's the politics, I don't know if it's a move of the spirit.

David:

I don't know what's going on, but there's a little more boldness for some Christians.

David:

That does not mean that there is not persecution all over the world, because there is.

David:

But you need to just remember we talked about in the first 30 minutes of the show not being afraid, not being ashamed, not being moved off of your confidence that God created the universe and the dude can write a book.

David:

And you need to stand firm in that immovable.

David:

Because that confidence in God's ability to write the book is your confidence for that relationship connection.

David:

God is communicating to mankind, telling mankind how much he loves us.

David:

So he wrote a book, you think, well, why didn't he do a television show?

David:

Here's why.

David:

Because television wasn't around in the beginning, but writing was.

David:

Aha.

David:

That way everybody can read it.

David:

Aha.

David:

Okay.

David:

Never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David:

By the way, Jesus is called the word of God.

David:

That's nice.

David:

So d draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David:

A Always be ready.

Jacob:

To serve.

David:

Serve.

David:

You ready?

David:

Are you ready right now?

David:

Somebody knocks on your door right now, Are you ready?

David:

If the Lord knocks on your door right now of your heart, are you ready?

David:

Be Ready.

David:

It's the only way.

David:

Be ready for the Lord for whatever he wants at any point.

David:

You'd be amazed how often he'll use you if you just present yourself.

David:

D Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

David:

A Always be ready to serve.

David:

We do have somebody on the line.

David:

Let's send them on through.

David:

Knock, knock.

David:

This is David.

David:

Who am I talking to?

John:

Hello, David, this is John.

David:

Hi, John.

David:

How are you?

John:

I'm all right.

John:

All right.

John:

I think I've got the answer here.

John:

After looking it up.

David:

Listen, there's things that come across my desk and I'm like, you know, it's like I can't.

David:

It's like there's so many things.

David:

I think it's hilarious to understand that there's so much we forget.

David:

That's what's so great.

David:

So I needed your help.

David:

So I just want to thank you for helping and everybody else that texted in.

David:

We had a bunch of people text in.

David:

I'm going to give you the floor.

David:

What are we talking about?

David:

When that word Deuteronomy, we get Genesis and Exodus, Leviticus, we follow that numbers, the numbering of the people.

David:

What is Deuteronomy?

John:

According to J.

John:

Vernon McGee's notes, I can't take the credit for that.

John:

Deuteronomy means second law.

David:

Quote, unquote, second law, repetition of the law, copy of the law.

David:

Right on.

David:

Any of those things are going to fly.

David:

Exactly correct.

David:

Amundo.

David:

That is phenomenal Job.

David:

It's a repeat of the law.

David:

And what we don't catch is we kind of should actually catch.

David:

This is why did they need a repeat in the first five books?

David:

It's the same reason we need four gospels.

David:

It's because we forget.

David:

It's like you need to have that repeated.

David:

Oh yeah, that's right.

David:

Oh, yeah, that's right.

David:

Oh yeah, that's right.

David:

That's the kind of thing.

David:

Excellent job, John.

David:

I mean, just absolutely phenomenal.

David:

Excellent job.

John:

Well, he actually goes into more explanation.

John:

The key is love and obey.

John:

It says it is the law.

John:

Deuteronomy is the law interpreted in the light of 38 years experience in the wilderness.

John:

And it's not to infer that it is a repetition of the law as given to Moses on Mount Sinai.

John:

So this is more like a everyday thing to do.

David:

Love that.

David:

So it's more of an explanation, practical application.

John:

Yeah, yeah.

John:

And it says, probably written by Joshua and belongs to the book of Joshua, which I didn't know.

David:

Yep, yep.

John:

And it says when the book Of Joshua was written.

John:

It was placed on the scroll of the Pentateuch making a hexatuk.

David:

That's amazing.

David:

That's amazing.

David:

Right, Right.

David:

Right next to you.

David:

What's amazing about that is Jay Verde me.

David:

He was so great.

David:

He was so great.

David:

I mean, he's the only guy that could.

David:

He went through everything, didn't he?

David:

I mean, he just.

David:

Boy, every verse, when everybody else was jumping ship, he was like, nope, we're going through this.

David:

Nope, we're going through this.

David:

And he always had a response.

David:

It's just amazing, that depth of knowledge.

David:

We've had that.

David:

After he passed, we actually had that ministry on as their continued ministry.

David:

And who was in charge of that on the show?

David:

When I was in San Diego, and it was really a blessing.

David:

Although that's one of the first times when somebody forgot their phone number for their ministry.

David:

Oh, boy.

David:

I told him, I said, how many times you say that phone number?

David:

He goes, 50,000 times.

David:

I said, yep.

John:

Oh, goodness.

David:

Excellent job.

David:

Excellent job.

David:

And John, I really appreciate you calling and stepping in.

David:

That was a great job.

John:

Oh, thank you.

John:

Thank you.

John:

The study went to Jay Vernon McGee.

John:

I listened to him in the morning.

John:

I don't know if anybody else does, but he's really good at explaining what things mean.

John:

And the previous caller said he reads something, he has to read it again.

John:

And maybe it would help to have him listen to the radio station at 8:30 in the morning.

David:

There you go, Sergio.

David:

You can listen to something else.

David:

That'll help you out.

John:

Yeah, there you go, Sergio.

David:

Excellent.

John:

Like me.

John:

All right, David, thank you very much.

David:

All right, my brother.

David:

God bless you, bro.

John:

Take care.

John:

God bless you.

John:

Bye bye.

David:

Bye bye.

David:

All right, we'll take our break and then we'll come back.

David:

And I'm getting mad because it's my story.

David:

And he's crying and I'm thinking, it's my story.

David:

Why are you crying?

David:

That's what I'm thinking in my mind.

David:

And he's crying.

David:

He's apparently a good crier.

David:

I don't know what a good crier is.

David:

I learned after my dad died, but I mean, somewhat.

David:

But this is real.

David:

You know, he's sobbing and I'm like.

David:

And he looks up at me after he's cried for about a minute and a half and his eyes are red and he looks at me and he says, this is how the Lord hurts for you.

David:

And that was it.

David Spoon:

Bam.

David:

It was like somebody just took a hammer and broke my hard heart and my, you know, my pride, attitude and my over arrogance and my everything.

David:

Looking at that guy showing me crying in tears and all I could think of was Jesus wept.

David:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David:

That's K double Amen 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David:

Props to everybody that was trying to help on that.

David:

That was great, great question by Sergio.

David:

Eric was the first one that responded on that.

David:

Nice job, Eric.

David:

And then John calling it.

David:

That was great, you guys.

David:

Thank you all.

David:

Oh, by the way, I just got to say this.

David:

Shel sent me a text and in the text it said that he's just so getting acclimated to the Lord being so close to him that sometimes he keeps that seat next to him empty so that when he looks over and sees it, he recognizes that the Lord is there in that seat with him while he's driving.

David:

Let me tell you there's a song by a band called Daniel Amos, and it's called Shotgun angel, and it's about a trucker driving down the road, and it's the Lord that's with the driving with the trucker in shotgun position.

David:

Isn't that cool?

David:

I love that stuff.

David:

That's like the coolest stuff ever.

David:

Oh, my goodness.

David:

I love it.

David:

All right.

David:

Actually, I had, I had a chance when I was in San Clemente.

David:

I met the original bass player for that band, so it was kind of cool.

David:

I like stuff like that.

David:

I think it's fascinating because they were a part of my journey.

David:

All right, let's get into the next trivia question.

David:

You guys ought to nail this down.

David:

Make sure to listen to the question, because sometimes the questions, you know the answer, but you're not answering the question directly.

David:

So here you go.

David:

Ready?

David:

Now who now listen to how I say this.

David:

Whose mother?

David:

Here's what I'm saying.

David:

I'm not saying what the mother's name, but who Whose mother said to Mary, blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

David:

Whose mother said that to Mary?

David:

In other words, who was the son of that woman whose mother said to Mary, blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb?

David:

Luke chapter one, verse 41, 42, 57 and 60.

David:

Luke chapter one, 41 and 42 should be pretty pretty straightforward if you think you know the answer.

David:

-:

David:

-:

David:

-:

David:

-:

David:

Okay, what was the Son's name of the person who said that?

David:

Luke 1, 41 and 42, if you think you know the answer.

David:

In the meantime, I want to dive into this portion of this text in Colossians 1:21.

David:

And it says, once you were alienated from God and were hostile in your minds because of your evil deeds.

David:

But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death, to present you holy, unblemished, and blameless in his presence.

David:

We will never get to the fullness of this.

David:

We pick it up at Colossians 1:21.

David:

Paul is writing to the Church of Colossae and he's pointing out that this is like one of the most key components, the apostles identifying that the things in our mind help us produce evil deeds in our lives.

David:

Uh oh, is this why he wrote about taking captive every thought to the obedience of Christ?

David:

Listen to what he says.

David:

Once you were alienated from God and were hostile in your minds because your evil deeds separated you in our minds and in our actions.

David:

There is a fight with God before you're saved.

David:

Now that you're Christians, you notice that there is a fight to do right now that you're saved.

David:

Here's the thing.

David:

When people get going in a certain direction in their thought process, evil manifests from that.

David:

Evil comes from the heart.

David:

Evil comes from the mind.

David:

Evil comes from these plans of wickedness.

David:

These are the reasons why Scripture makes it clear that we need to set our minds on things that are above set our minds on things that are pure and lovely and wonderful and full of good fruit and mercy.

David:

And that we're supposed to think on these things because when we load up our mind with the garbage of the world, we're standing in opposition to God.

David:

But what Paul says is we've been reconciled by Christ's physical body through death.

David:

There's no theological movement here.

David:

We are reconciled through the act of Jesus Christ, through his physical body and death.

David:

Our response is either to receive it or reject it.

David:

But it is by the work of Jesus this is made available.

David:

And what Paul is shutting down here is any notion.

David:

We just talked about this yesterday.

David:

Jesus, Jesus, more of Jesus.

David:

If there's any notion that anything else is in play, it is wrong.

David:

It is by the fear physical body of Jesus his death that we are presented wholly unblemished and blameless in his presence.

David:

I want to point something out to you.

David:

When you acknowledge and surrender and confess and repent and every other thing you want to throw in there to the Lord, when you open up your heart by faith and he comes in and takes residency, when the Holy Spirit takes part of your gets involved in your body, that you are now the temple of the Holy Spirit.

David:

When all that happens because of the physical body of Jesus Christ and you say yes, every time you come into the presence of the Lord, that body puts you in a position of being unblemished and blameless and holy in his presence because of Jesus, you can come into the presence of God with full confidence.

David:

It doesn't mean they don't say lord, I'm sorry, but the fact that you can say Lord, I'm sorry is because of the physical body of Jesus.

David:

And that's what sets us right.

David:

Our subsequent actions are important, but it is the actual physical body of Jesus and his death that removes the hostility between us and God.

David:

Now we look past that.

David:

We're pretty happy about that because we also look to the resurrection, which in the resurrection, it's not just that there's no hostility, but now there's a resurrection.

David:

In fact, it's moved from hostility to favorable position.

David:

And they work together.

David:

No longer an enemy.

David:

Hey, and now friends.

David:

But it is because of Jesus and what he's done.

David:

You are right with God because of Jesus Christ.

David:

That's what Paul is saying.

David:

There's no room there whatsoever.

David:

He's like, okay, got it right.

David:

No other pathway.

David:

No, no, it's my good works.

David:

No, it is not.

David:

It is Jesus's good works, period.

David:

And I am getting a little tired of people saying they're Christians who don't know their.

David:

Who don't know Jesus from a brown paper bag.

David:

It's ridiculous.

David:

Especially people in the media.

David:

All right, trivia question.

David:

Whose mother.

David:

Whose mother said to Mary, blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb?

David:

The person who said that was Elizabeth.

David:

And that was the mother of John the Baptist.

David:

See, that was Johnny B's mom who said to Mary, blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

David:

Take a break and then come back.

David:

You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the Truth Station here in Texas.

David:

Your break.

David:

We'll be back.

David:

Don't go anywhere.

Amazing Jennifer:

Hey there.

Amazing Jennifer:

It's Amazing Jennifer.

Amazing Jennifer:

And I am helping out the David Spoon Experience.

Amazing Jennifer:

As you may know, I basically run the KAAM radio station.

Sergio:

Amazing.

Amazing Jennifer:

And Dr.

Amazing Jennifer:

Dave is looking for a few good people to join and become representatives, ambassadors and stewards of this here radio ministry.

Amazing Jennifer:

Now, you may be thinking, well, I'd love to get involved, but I'm not very qualified for ministerial positions.

Amazing Jennifer:

Well, the truth is that because you are a child of our Heavenly Father, that you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and you seek to live by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Amazing Jennifer:

You have all you need to be a part of this ministry.

Amazing Jennifer:

But Jennifer, don't I need to be perfect?

Amazing Jennifer:

No, just go to he must increase.org that's he must click on the three lines at the top right of the website and then click on the Ambassadors Initiative link.

Amazing Jennifer:

Just fill out the form and we will reach out to you.

Amazing Jennifer:

But sorry, no parking tickets will be paid for you as an ambassador through this Position.

Amazing Jennifer:

You are on your own with that.

Amazing Jennifer:

What is the David Spoon Experience?

David:

Let me tell you what.

David:

I'm torn between the two.

David:

I'm twixt between the torn two.

David:

You want to know why I've got the biggest breaking story ever to be that first.

David:

I just can't wait.

David:

More than.

David:

More than my whole thing about the four way stop sign.

Sergio:

Yep.

David:

You want me to do the number one story, Ladies and gentlemen, you better get ready.

David:

Here's what.

David:

Here's my advice.

David:

I don't give this advice very often and I don't give it checkfully.

David:

What's uncheckfully?

David:

I don't know.

David:

Here's the biggest story you have ever heard on the David Swin Experience.

David:

If you have children who are listening, if you are not in a car, it's time to cover their errors or send them into another room.

David:

That's how chilling this is, ladies and gentlemen.

David:

I have it off the press literally within the last two and a half hours.

David:

Actually, it's less than two and a half hours ago.

David:

Here it is, ladies and gentlemen.

David:

I have it right in my hands.

David:

Get ready.

David:

Do not, do not get nauseous when you hear this.

David:

Ladies and gentlemen.

David:

It is a fact that as of today, the Navy, the United States Navy officially has made its proclamation.

David:

Ready?

David:

Are you ready?

David:

Are you listening?

David:

This is the most important thing ever.

David:

You ready?

David:

That Captain Crunch is a fraud.

David:

Ladies and gentlemen, the United States Navy has declared that.

David:

Captain Crunch.

David:

I do not buy it.

David:

No, listen to this.

David:

Here's why.

David:

Let me tell you why.

David:

Captain Crunch has three stripes on his cuffs.

David:

And that signifies a commander and not a captain.

David:

So the United States Navy has made it absolutely known today.

David:

Captain Crunch.

David:

Nay.

David:

He neigh a captain.

David:

Nay.

David:

Now it is true.

David:

Commander Crunch.

David:

Yes, Commander Crunch.

David:

That's the new.

David:

That's why I told you.

David:

Don't let your kids hear this.

David:

It is possible that that uniform could represent either German or Portuguese navy.

David:

They are not sure because all of those uniforms were lost with their great navy.

David:

Welcome back to the David Spoon Experience.

David:

Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770.

David:

The truth station here in Texas is KAAM N770.

David:

The truth station here in Texas.

David:

There you go.

David:

For your next trivia question, you guys should be able to get this a little Old Testament back to it on this one.

David:

What mother brought her son a coat every year?

David:

Every year.

David:

What mother brought her son a coat every year?

David:

Now, I'm going to say this because we got Christmas coming up.

David:

I think it's cool that this mother brought a coat right to her son, by the way.

David:

First Samuel, chapter two, verses 18 through 21.

David:

I think it's cool that she brought him a coat, but a little bit, if you get it every single year, might be a little bit like, you know, socks or something.

David:

It's like, I'm getting a coat again.

David:

I'm getting a coat again.

David:

I'm getting a coat again.

David:

I'm just saying, that's just me.

David:

What?

David:

Mother brought her son a coat every year.

David:

First Samuel, chapter two, verse 18 through 21.

David:

If you think you know.

David:

Yes, Deb, that is correct.

David:

If you think you know.

David:

-:

David:

-:

David:

-:

David:

-:

David:

Or you can send an email.

David:

Davidmasincrease.org what mother brought her son a coat every year?

David:

Hey, it's mom.

David:

She's got a coat.

David:

First Samuel, chapter 2, verse 18 through 21.

David:

In the meantime, I'm going to send you up to the website.

David:

I haven't done that at all today.

David:

Well, that's pretty good for me, right?

David:

Here it is.

David:

We are close to Christmas and we need money.

David:

What else do you got to know?

David:

I don't want you to ever give because you're manipulated.

David:

I don't want you to ever give because you're uncomfortable or you're feeling squeezed to do it.

David:

I hate it.

David:

I hate it.

David:

I hate it.

David:

I want you to give because it's on your heart to give.

David:

That's it.

David:

And that you give it unto the Lord, we'll do our best with it.

David:

We pray over every penny that comes in.

David:

We just ask the Lord to help us.

David:

We're not brilliant.

David:

It's not like we make no mistakes.

David:

But we do pretty good.

David:

Not too shabby.

David:

But if you can give, give.

David:

Because this is right here between 15th December and January 1st is the lowest giving we ever have.

David:

I don't know why, it's just how it goes.

David:

See what you can do.

David:

If you can help, great.

David:

If not, don't worry about it.

David:

Just participate.

David:

We would rather be a blessing in that capacity than anything else.

David:

Check it out on the website.

David:

By the way.

David:

Hemustencrease.org prayer request.

David:

He must increase.org praise report hemostincrease.org looking to give to this ministry.

David:

He must increase.org confused by what's happening right now.

David:

He must increase.org he must increase.org.

David:

yeah.

David:

All right, your trivia question.

David:

What mother brought her son a coat every year?

David:

You just have to wonder, was it at least a different coat or was it the same kind of coat but just in a different size?

David:

That's what a Jewish person would ask.

David:

That's why I'm asking.

David:

Does that make sense?

David:

Okay, great.

David:

All right.

David:

We do have somebody calling in before we take that call or before we stop on that, I did want to do this one little thing.

David:

So I'm going to give Jacob a chance to figure out how that's coordinating over there.

David:

And I am going to tell you that we are going to do, let's see, one, two, three things, four things from history, and then we'll take the call.

David:

So let's do history real fast.

David:

Let's go live.

David:

Bake in the past.

David:

Let's go.

David:

Let bake him look past.

David:

All right.

David:

It's National Ambrosia Day.

David:

For those that don't know, ambrosia is a fruit salad usually made up of pineapple, oranges, miniature marshmallows, coconut, and creams and such as whipped cream, sour cream, or yogurt.

David:

I happen to be a big fan of ambrosia.

David:

Okay.

David:

Just saying.

David:

Okay.

David:

Do you like it?

Jacob:

I don't think I've ever had that.

David:

Oh, you gotta go to a super American, just say, can I have some ambrosia?

David:

I think you'll like it.

David:

I do.

David:

e, and we'll reimburse you in:

David:

I got it.

David:

Okay.

David:

Number two,:

David:

How about that?

David:

Right?

David:

That's kind of a weird thing.

David:

Again,:

David:

So we're talking about 123 years the first transatlantic radio signal was offered up.

David:

And then finally,:

David:

You want to know what the name was?

David:

I mean, isn't that dis.

David:

What's the name of the first hotel ever in the United States?

David:

First motel, Best Western Motel Inn.

David:

That's what it was called.

Jacob:

Clever.

David:

They sure went deep for that.

David:

All right, we do have somebody ready to answer a trivia question.

David:

Let's send them on through.

David:

Knock, knock.

David:

This is David.

David:

Who am I talking to?

Speaker H:

Hey, your Lego brother.

David:

Hey, what's going on, Samson?

Speaker H:

Hey, Jeff.

Speaker H:

Just enjoying the little sunshine.

David:

It was cold the other day, right?

David:

It's going to be cold next Week, too.

David:

I heard it's going to be really cold.

David:

Like, whoa.

David:

We were like, wow, you are from.

Speaker H:

Michigan, so why are you complaining?

David:

Well, see, now, here's the problem.

David:

I've been out of Michigan, and then I was in Arizona for 15 years, California for 15 years.

David:

So it reduced my capacities.

Speaker H:

But you are.

Speaker H:

You are frozen, chosen.

David:

Back in the day.

David:

That is correctamundo.

David:

So, no, that's.

David:

It is pretty funny.

David:

My brother has recently moved out to Texas.

David:

And so I talked to him.

David:

He moved.

David:

He's farther away from us, but he did say he goes, man, it gets cold out here because he's been in Phoenix for, like, 35 years.

David:

I'm like, yeah, you just.

David:

What is it?

David:

The weather is bipolar.

David:

Just wait around.

David:

It'll change.

David:

All right, here we go.

David:

What?

David:

Mother brought her son a coat every year?

David:

1st Samuel 2:18 through 21.

Speaker H:

Hannah.

David:

That is correct.

David:

Am I.

David:

No, you are right, Hannah.

David:

And I still don't know.

David:

I mean, I thought it was very nice and everything great.

David:

But if I got a coat every single year, if that was the same present I got from my mom or dad every year, I might have said something.

David:

That's all I'm going to say.

David:

I might have had a moment.

David:

You know, I can get some shoes, too, you know.

David:

Yeah.

David:

All right.

David:

My brother, how's things going?

David:

How are you?

Speaker H:

Well, things are still tough, but I know God is still on the throne.

Speaker H:

Yeah, yeah.

David:

He's never going to get off the throne.

David:

He owns the throne.

David:

The throne is his.

David:

So, yeah, he's never going to get off.

David:

You just.

David:

You just need to be a little encouraged.

Speaker H:

Yes.

David:

Okay.

David:

Let's pray exactly that.

David:

Okay.

David:

Father, I just ask.

Speaker H:

And a breakthrough as well.

David:

And a breakthrough.

David:

Let's do it.

David:

Father, I come before you right now on the behalf of my brother, and I ask you for my brother's sake that number one, you would give him encouragement.

David:

Lord, we are able to encourage ourself in you, but sometimes we need a little bit of a spark, a little bit of a touch, a little bit of a pat on the back, a little bit of comfort, a little bit of word, a little bit of your spirit just to kind of rev the engine and get it to turn over.

David:

So we're asking you to help Samson so that he could be encouraged instead of discouraged.

David:

And he's looking for a break in the process.

David:

He's looking for an opening that comes from you.

David:

And, Lord, when you open a door, nobody can close it.

David:

Nobody gets to take it away.

David:

So let it be.

David:

You that opens a door for him and gives him an ability, a grace, a place to find relief and let him be encouraged before that happens, that it is coming, and let him operate in a real faith and high level of expectation.

David:

We pray that you bless him in all of this.

David:

In Jesus name, amen and amen.

Speaker H:

Amen and amen.

Speaker H:

Hey, I have a quick question for you.

David:

Okay.

Speaker H:

Hey.

Speaker H:

What do you call a prophet who's also a chef?

David:

What do you call a prophet who is also a chef?

David:

What do you call.

David:

I give up.

David:

What do you give?

Speaker H:

Habakkuk.

David:

Habakkuk.

David:

What do you call a prophet who's also a chef?

David:

Habakkuk.

David:

Okay.

David:

Okay.

David:

Now I'm gonna let Jacob decide whether he likes that or not.

David:

He's sitting there thinking he zapped you with a wah, wah.

David:

Good job, brother.

David:

God bless, bro.

Speaker H:

God bless.

Speaker H:

Thank you.

David:

Bye.

David:

Bye, bye.

David:

That's, I think, the first time you've given a wawa to him, isn't it?

David:

That's like a rarity.

Jacob:

Streak has to end sometime.

David:

Yeah, you gotta.

David:

Jacob holds the.

David:

He's behind the thing.

David:

You gotta do what he says.

David:

All right, here we go.

David:

So here is a controversy, not contra.

David:

It's not even controversial.

David:

This is what's dumb about these kind of things.

David:

It's like people try to say things and do things and put them in boxes.

David:

I understand.

David:

Okay, here's my.

David:

Here's my statement to you.

David:

Okay.

David:

This portion right here is a key component of Scripture.

David:

Colossians 1:23.

David:

Listen, I'll read it from 22.

David:

But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death, to present you holy, unblemished and blameless in his presence.

David:

Verse 23.

David:

If.

David:

If.

David:

Is that in the Greek?

David:

If is in the Greek, indeed.

David:

You continue in the faith established and firm, and not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

David:

And he's talking of being a servant of the gospel.

David:

I just want you to catch this, and it's really important, and I want you to seize upon it.

David:

And I understand what the theology arguments are, and I don't care.

David:

And here's why I don't care.

David:

Colossians 1:23 says, if indeed we continue our faith, we got to kind of put away maybe the immaturity.

David:

Our faith is how we receive the Lord God.

David:

The love of God extended to us through his grace coming through Jesus.

David:

Our faith is how we receive that love.

David:

Right.

David:

But you don't receive that love for 20 seconds and then you're done.

David:

Because that's not receiving the love.

David:

We continually receive the love.

David:

It's based on continual belief, not a momentary belief.

David:

The same belief that we started with is the same belief that we're supposed to hold.

David:

It's not supposed to change.

David:

It doesn't mean that you don't have moments with God where you look up and you go, really?

David:

I mean, nobody's saying that.

David:

Don't be weird.

David:

But if somebody says, I believe, but then never ever again engages in that faith, that's not actual belief.

David:

It's not an actual continuing belief.

David:

You got to believe the way you started, all the way to the end.

David:

That's why in John 3:16, where it says, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever should believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

David:

It believeth in the nas.

David:

It believes.

David:

It's the continual action of believing.

David:

It's not that that faith isn't valid.

David:

It doesn't save a person.

David:

But if a person says, I believe, and then they function as they don't believe and don't receive for the rest of their lives, that's a 20 second yes.

David:

That doesn't count.

David:

Is this once saved, always saved?

David:

If you said yes, and you continually say yes, of course, of course it is.

David:

Is there a perseverance of the saints?

David:

Of course, if you continue that belief, he'll never depart from.

David:

He'll never walk away from you, ever.

David:

Of course it's steadfast.

David:

Of course it's sure.

David:

Of course it's secure.

David:

But if you're a person that believed for the first 20 seconds and then the rest of your entire life said whatever, that's not a belief.

David:

That doesn't count.

David:

I don't want to say this mean, but I guess I'm.

David:

Oh, well, this ought to really irritate him.

David:

It doesn't count if you say yes and then never again believe.

David:

That's like.

David:

It doesn't.

David:

That's not the belief.

David:

That's not saving faith.

David:

Faith.

David:

I have faith.

David:

I'm going to turn this light switch on.

David:

Turns on.

David:

The light came out.

David:

Hey, that's faith.

David:

That's not saving faith.

David:

Saving faith is continually believing in the testimony of God.

David:

It's not being a.

David:

You know, there's no, there's no momentary Christianity that doesn't.

David:

There's no momentary Christianity unless you get saved and then the Lord takes you in the next millisecond that might be maybe more of a temporary.

David:

But I'm just saying it's just absurd.

David:

You gotta keep believing.

David:

You don't have to believe more deeply or less deeply.

David:

You just have to keep believing.

David:

That's what it's all about.

David:

And then what people do is they try and put them in boxes once.

David:

They have always saved perseverance.

David:

The saints listen, you can lose your salvation.

David:

You can't lose your salvation.

David:

They sit there, they fight back and forth.

David:

You look at them and you could just see Jesus.

David:

If this was the disciples and Jesus was there, Jesus would look at them and say, what is wrong with you?

David:

That's what he'd say.

David:

It's like, what is the problem here?

David:

It's not rocket science.

David:

You believe, right, great.

David:

As long as you keep believing, fine, great, super, awesome.

David:

But it's not a one second belief.

David:

And so that's what he's saying.

David:

He says this now, he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy, unblemished and blameless in his presence, if indeed you continue in the faith.

David:

Now I like what he says after that because he says, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel.

David:

You heard, we can't afford to lose the hope because the hope enables us to sustain.

David:

I was writing a little bit on a future message and something the Lord showed me and I taught it before, but I have only seen it like in one or two places in scripture.

David:

Now he showed me a third place in scripture which really helps me, it helps me understand the theology.

David:

And it's this.

David:

It's like people that don't have hope, sin.

David:

I just want to point that out.

David:

People that don't have hope are sinful because they have nothing else to live for but the pleasure.

David:

You see what I'm saying?

David:

It's so poignant, it's so powerful.

David:

And so what we're told is, don't be moved from that gospel, from the hope of the gospel.

David:

What's the hope of the gospel?

David:

Dancing shoes on streets of gold.

David:

It's not a lousy eternity.

David:

It's not an eternity where you're sitting there reading a magazine.

David:

Oh my gosh, that would be hell.

David:

I want an eternity with God.

David:

That's phenomenal.

David:

And every time I've had an encounter with God, it's been more than phenomenal.

David:

And that's what I want for all eternity.

David:

That's heaven.

David:

And that's what we stand by.

David:

And then Paul says, he says this, he goes, if indeed you continue your faith Established and firm.

David:

In other words, don't be squishy.

David:

You believe.

David:

You believe, believe.

David:

Not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

David:

Paul is a servant of the gospel.

David:

You're thinking, isn't he a servant of the Lord?

David:

It's the Lord's message.

David:

The gospel is so he's a servant of that.

David:

By being a servant of God's gospel, he's being a servant of God.

David:

That's not complex, that's simple.

David:

And all of this is so that we can wrap our heads around.

David:

God loves you so much he wouldn't let you stay on the course you were on.

David:

And watch this.

David:

God loves you so much he wouldn't let you stay on a simplified course of Christianity and has brought you deeper on purpose.

David:

Think well, Dave, to get deeper, it costs me family, it cost me marriages, it cost me children, it cost me money, it cost me land, it cost me friends, it cost me sisters, it cost me brothers, it cost me children.

David:

Yeah, and that's funny, because Jesus said that exact thing so good that means you're perfectly on track.

David:

And don't forget that you will not only receive this in this lifetime, but in the next more.

David:

Because God knows every single sacrifice you and I have made every moment.

David:

You know what?

David:

I want to say this.

David:

I just really believe the Lord wants me to say this.

David:

God knows every time you held your tongue when you could have blasted and you did it because you were trying to be honorable before the Lord and not just win an argument, he knows every time you've said, I'm not going to say anything.

David:

Do you know who else didn't always answer?

David:

Jesus.

David:

What?

David:

You're not going to answer me?

David:

Correct.

David:

Jesus didn't answer every question because sometimes it's just as honorable and sacrificial to say nothing.

David:

have given up that God is not:

David:

And you will fully be rewarded because you cannot beat God giving, no matter how hard you try.

David:

So every moment like that, look, you have to continue in the faith so that you can continue in the hope, so that you can continue in the strength of the Lord.

David:

Why is that hard?

David:

You know what?

David:

It ain't.

David:

It ain't.

David:

It's not in the dictionary.

David:

Yes, it is.

David:

It ain't hard.

David:

You just stay firm in the faith, that's all.

David:

Okay, we'll do that.

David:

Sounds like a plan, man.

David:

Okay, cool.

David:

All right, folks, you've been listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on KAM 770, the truth station air in Texas.

David:

22 and a half hour break.

David:

Then we'll come back, more insanity with Spoonanity.

David:

Talk to you.

David:

Then.

David Spoon:

Just as I am.

David Spoon:

You reach down and see me chase my freedom at the cost of the sun.

David:

What else can I do?

Jennifer:

Views and opinions expressed in the preceding.

David Spoon:

Program are those of its participants and do not necessarily reflect those of kam, DJRD Broadcasting or its sponsors.
