Transcripts

Speaker:

Hey, everybody.

2

:

Welcome back to a correction, less.

3

:

Episode of the daily Bible podcast.

4

:

Oh, we don't know about that yet.

5

:

Well, we assume so.

6

:

We'll find out fair.

7

:

Somebody may have emailed us and said,

Hey, you messed up on, on this part.

8

:

It's very possible.

9

:

Yeah.

10

:

Just meaning that we don't have anything

we're aware of that we messed up on that.

11

:

We need to come and say, Hey, we,

we told you guys the election was

12

:

over a day before it happened.

13

:

That's true.

14

:

Yeah.

15

:

Which is a good example or a

metaphor of what it looks like

16

:

to be above reproach, right.

17

:

Because nobody can fully say I'm

sinless at any point in time.

18

:

But it's living a life that when you look

at your life, you're not aware of any

19

:

glaring issues that you need to confess

and repent put off, turn away from right.

20

:

Blamelessness exactly.

21

:

Oh yeah.

22

:

So there you go.

23

:

There's a, there's an illustration

for you right off the bat.

24

:

And maybe again, we're wrong.

25

:

Maybe we do have things

that we need to, to work on.

26

:

But.

27

:

Yeah.

28

:

Anyways, it's a it's Thursday.

29

:

It's Thursday, November.

30

:

What day is today?

31

:

The seventh.

32

:

Seventh.

33

:

Yeah, we're making our

way through November, man.

34

:

Yeah, it's moving quickly.

35

:

We're almost halfway

through the fourth quarter.

36

:

Yeah.

37

:

If you go to seven 11 today that

you have to give them a Slurpee.

38

:

Cause it's the inverse it's 11 seven.

39

:

Instead of seven 11, that'd be fine.

40

:

Would it though?

41

:

I don't know.

42

:

Maybe not.

43

:

But it'd be funny.

44

:

Yeah.

45

:

Yeah.

46

:

Hey, uh, men listening to this.

47

:

If you are of the football playing type,

look out for, uh, an opportunity to play

48

:

some football on Thanksgiving morning.

49

:

Um, it's going to be

pretty casual overall.

50

:

We're not doing a church wide event on

this necessarily, but it is going to be,

51

:

uh, an event where if you're interested

in going out and playing some football.

52

:

Uh, we are going to have an

opportunity to do just that.

53

:

And so if you want to break out and dust

off the old spikes, I know pastor rod

54

:

has his old leather football helmet,

ready to go and get out there and play.

55

:

That's right.

56

:

Um, but that's going to

happen Thanksgiving morning

57

:

and play some football.

58

:

Go back home, enjoy some Turkey.

59

:

And, uh, who knows what's

going to happen after that?

60

:

It's going to be a surprise.

61

:

God knows only God knows.

62

:

Yeah.

63

:

Yeah.

64

:

You don't get injured guys.

65

:

Please don't get injured.

66

:

You've been listening to Christmas music.

67

:

Um, you know what?

68

:

No, I haven't, I've been, I've been,

when I do listen to music lately, I've

69

:

been doing a lot of worship stuff,

just cause I'm trying to, I'm trying

70

:

to get some songs underneath my skin.

71

:

Uh, and, and other times, I, and this

is kind of, it's going to sound strange.

72

:

I think I've said this before.

73

:

I don't, I don't

naturally listen to music.

74

:

I listen to podcasts and audio books.

75

:

So that's far more, I'm going to

turn something on and listen to that.

76

:

Lately, they'll get this.

77

:

I've been driving in silence.

78

:

Okay.

79

:

Just kind of on purpose.

80

:

Yeah.

81

:

I just won't put anything on, I'm

kind of resting and praying here and

82

:

there and just kind of thinking so.

83

:

Lately, I haven't really had

anything on, what about you?

84

:

Yeah, I enjoy that as well.

85

:

You're putting Christmas music on.

86

:

I have a little bit.

87

:

Yeah.

88

:

I've put some on.

89

:

Um, did you start with Mariah Carey?

90

:

She has made an appearance.

91

:

Oh, only one.

92

:

Wow.

93

:

I'll be once.

94

:

Yeah.

95

:

Yeah.

96

:

Uh, no.

97

:

There's, I've got a Christmas playlist

on Spotify that I try to update

98

:

each year with some, some new stuff.

99

:

Cause I like to find new.

100

:

Christmas music now it's hard

because Christmas music is

101

:

such an historic thing, right?

102

:

Used to be traditional, right.

103

:

And so, but even some

new interpretations of.

104

:

Some classics, right?

105

:

Those are our fun.

106

:

And I appreciate those sometimes.

107

:

Just tell him that it

would get along so well.

108

:

You know, I would, I'd

be friends with him.

109

:

I don't know if he's looking for a

friend, but I'd hang out with him.

110

:

Um, but no, there's, there's some,

there's some good ones out there that,

111

:

that stir my affections for Jesus.

112

:

So yeah.

113

:

And the kids Christmas musicals coming up.

114

:

So my kids have been singing some

of these songs for a little bit.

115

:

Uh, that's exciting.

116

:

Yeah.

117

:

Yeah.

118

:

So there you go.

119

:

That's a, it's a little bit about

what's going on in our lives.

120

:

Right.

121

:

Yep.

122

:

Getting ready for the

transformed conference coming up.

123

:

That's right.

124

:

It's con.com.

125

:

That's not that.

126

:

Don't do that.

127

:

Uh, yeah, no, the

transformed conference.org.

128

:

Uh, is where you can go and you can

register by the way, the code, the

129

:

discount code 25% offer for $25 off.

130

:

I should say.

131

:

Uh, Providence, all caps there.

132

:

Um, listen, if you're out there and you

registered earlier and you're going, wait

133

:

a minute, I didn't get the discount code.

134

:

This is really the price went up

and when the price went up, it

135

:

went up by the amount that we're

taking off with the discount code.

136

:

So nobody's.

137

:

Paying less than somebody else.

138

:

And not that anybody's banging down

the door on that you guys would

139

:

love one another and that's awesome.

140

:

I'm happy for that.

141

:

But just in case you were curious on

that, but you can use that discount

142

:

code Providence to get $25 off and,

uh, and register for the conference,

143

:

which we really do trust is going to be.

144

:

Uh, great.

145

:

Resource and super helpful,

especially coming off this election.

146

:

Um, this, these are important

subjects, family and parenting.

147

:

Uh, family and marriage.

148

:

These are things that

matter immensely to us.

149

:

And Dr.

150

:

Mohler is going to be there.

151

:

Uh, micro bars are sending

pastor from California's.

152

:

Come out, teaching a message

on disciplining your children.

153

:

That's going to be immensely

beneficial for you as a parent.

154

:

If that's an area that you're like,

man, I could use, I think all of

155

:

us could use a brush up on that.

156

:

But if disciplining your kids is

something that you struggle with or,

157

:

you know, somebody maybe who struggles

with disciplining their kids, you can

158

:

be like, Hey, you should come to this.

159

:

This particular.

160

:

This, uh, this message.

161

:

No, but it's going to be

such a good either ticket.

162

:

Biblical treatment of

why that's important.

163

:

Again, Christmas gift.

164

:

You're going to want to be there for that.

165

:

So that alone, I think, is

worth the price of admission.

166

:

And then, you know, Mueller's

going to be talking to Dr.

167

:

Miller's gonna be talking

about some famous marriages in

168

:

history and what we can learn as

believers from those marriages.

169

:

That should be super good

to just spotlighting some

170

:

stories of these marriages.

171

:

That that will be awesome.

172

:

So it's going to be a great time.

173

:

It's going to be an intimate

setting, would love for you guys

174

:

to register and join us there.

175

:

So the transformed conference.org.

176

:

All right.

177

:

Let's jump into our texts for the day.

178

:

Matthew 24.

179

:

Matthew 24 sounds a lot.

180

:

Like mark 13.

181

:

Today's.

182

:

Yeah.

183

:

It felt like a lot of overlap.

184

:

Yeah.

185

:

There's a lot of overlap.

186

:

In fact, it opens the same

way with the prediction of

187

:

the destruction of the temple.

188

:

As they're going away, the disciples

going, Hey, look at the buildings.

189

:

She's like the buildings

are going to be gone.

190

:

Hey, when is this going to happen?

191

:

Signs of the times

verses three through 14.

192

:

Again, this is the tribulation period

that Jesus is talking about here.

193

:

Um, and again, yeah, the gospel is

going to be preached widely verse 14.

194

:

During this time and it's

going to build on the reach.

195

:

It will have made during the church age.

196

:

And so our job is to go out and make

sure that we're, we're doing that.

197

:

And if you think about the urgency

with which the gospel is going to be

198

:

preached during the tribulation period,

Uh, they're they're gonna, at that time,

199

:

we know that the timer has started.

200

:

Anybody paying attention to the

Bible is going to be able to go.

201

:

We've got three years left.

202

:

We've got two years left.

203

:

We've got one year left.

204

:

We've got six months left.

205

:

And so that urgency to go out

and say, repent belief of the

206

:

kingdom is literally at hand.

207

:

You don't have much time left.

208

:

If you're going to survive

the tribulation, let alone.

209

:

Maybe you're going to dive in

before the tribulation ends.

210

:

You need to repent and believe

in the gospel now today, right?

211

:

That sense of urgency.

212

:

I feel like I was convicted reading

this thinking to myself, man.

213

:

I need that sense of urgency

today with my neighbors, with my

214

:

coworkers, with my family members.

215

:

Hmm, because we're not guaranteed

tomorrow, any more than they're going

216

:

to be guaranteed tomorrow at that time.

217

:

Yeah.

218

:

One of the things that he says

here, Is that in the last time?

219

:

Lawlessness will increase and

the love of many will grow cold.

220

:

And I think that speaks to some of the

things that I'm afraid of for the church.

221

:

Um, even today, because

there's so much change in flux

222

:

happening at any given time.

223

:

And there's so much pull layer,

polarity, polarization, that's happening.

224

:

That it's easy to look at neighbors.

225

:

You know, different party lines or

different ethnicity, a different.

226

:

Religions even, and to say,

well, Hey, I've got me in mind.

227

:

Good.

228

:

We're good to go.

229

:

And even if we never say that that

attitude can be conveyed by our lack

230

:

of attention, to those very things.

231

:

So.

232

:

No.

233

:

Totally.

234

:

A hundred percent agree with you on that.

235

:

Yeah.

236

:

Uh, we then talk about

in verses 15 through 28.

237

:

Again, the abomination of desolation,

that's going to take place again,

238

:

the breaking of the treaty.

239

:

Um, and at the instruction

here is, Hey, run, flee.

240

:

Uh, and, and this is interesting

because this is Jesus saying, this

241

:

is going to be a bad, a bad season.

242

:

And he even mourns in verse 19, for those

who are pregnant during that time, or

243

:

have nursing babies during that time,

because they're gonna have to run.

244

:

And run away from hospitals and

run away from healthcare, run

245

:

away from all of these things.

246

:

Uh, because the, the persecution is

going to be turned up against them and

247

:

he says, don't pray that it's, it's

not during winter or on the Sabbath.

248

:

There's going to be this great tribulation

verse 21, such as, has not been from

249

:

the beginning of the world until now.

250

:

And that's why you may be thinking,

how do we know that this is

251

:

the tribulation period and not

some other time of judgment?

252

:

Verse 21 gives us the answer there.

253

:

It's going to be a great tribulation,

such as not been from the beginning of the

254

:

world until now, and never will be again.

255

:

Well, we haven't experienced that yet.

256

:

And, uh, it's it's yet future.

257

:

We believe that it's going to happen, that

these things are going to be literally

258

:

fulfilled during the tribulation period.

259

:

So he's talking about the abomination

of desolation specifically.

260

:

In verses 15 through 28, it

talks about false Messiah.

261

:

What do we do with that?

262

:

People are going to say,

Hey, look, here's the Christ.

263

:

There's the Christ.

264

:

Um, that's interesting.

265

:

Isn't it?

266

:

Because I think in, in my.

267

:

Memory.

268

:

I think that the one that comes to

mind most often for me is David Koresh

269

:

and Waco with the branch Davidians.

270

:

That, that was him.

271

:

He said, I'm I'm Jesus.

272

:

And I remember thinking to myself, okay.

273

:

That's not Jesus.

274

:

Um, I was offended by that.

275

:

It seems like during the tribulation

period, that's just going to

276

:

ratchet up even more and more

and more, which is interesting.

277

:

I mean, that's been happening

since the time Jesus left.

278

:

That's been lots of people

that have claimed to be Jesus.

279

:

Sure.

280

:

And then, I mean, there are, there

are documentaries, short story

281

:

documentaries about some of these

people that claim to be the new Christ.

282

:

Who act all weird and

just, you know, a theory.

283

:

And they, they portent or

they pretend to be righteous.

284

:

It's such a weird.

285

:

Like what kind of.

286

:

You know, what's happening

in your mind, right?

287

:

Where you're thinking.

288

:

I am God.

289

:

What's going on up there.

290

:

Yeah.

291

:

Yeah.

292

:

But I think Wikipedia has a,

has an ongoing list of running a

293

:

running list of people that have

been claimed to be the Messiah.

294

:

Yeah.

295

:

And this was even before this predated

Jesus, you had so many people that

296

:

emerged even in intertestamental

period, claiming to be the Messiah

297

:

that Israel was looking for.

298

:

And so this is something that's

happened for a long time.

299

:

Interestingly enough though.

300

:

Look at verse 24, false Christ

and false prophets will arise and

301

:

perform great signs and wonders.

302

:

So as to liter straight, if possible,

even the elect again, the elect here,

303

:

like we talked about yesterday, those

believers during the tribulation period.

304

:

Those that are converted after

the rapture of the church or the

305

:

Jewish believers during that time.

306

:

But these false Christ and false messiahs

are allowed to do miraculous wonders.

307

:

There's spiritual, demonic

oppression, taking place and going

308

:

on here during this this time.

309

:

And when we get to the book of

revelation towards the end of the year

310

:

and study this more in depth in that.

311

:

The ultimate example of that is going to

be the antichrist himself who is going

312

:

to have a wound that appears mortal.

313

:

And it's going to look like he

rises from the dead and there's

314

:

going to be a statue built in the.

315

:

The statute is going to be

given permission to speak even.

316

:

And so there's a lot that's

dark and demonic taking place

317

:

during this tribulation period.

318

:

Which goes to show then that

you have to rely on more than

319

:

just the miraculous sign gifts.

320

:

True.

321

:

Because Jesus is warning us

here right now, when this

322

:

happens, do not be led astray.

323

:

Yeah.

324

:

He's telling you ahead of time,

which then means, okay, then what's

325

:

my ultimate litmus test for what

to understand is true versus false.

326

:

And it's going to be his word, the

word of God and capsulated between

327

:

those two leather covers that you

have, you need to know the Bible.

328

:

Otherwise you'll be susceptible to being

deceived by these false signs and wonders.

329

:

Yeah.

330

:

Yeah.

331

:

Amen to that.

332

:

Yeah, verses 29 through 31,

then we get Christ returned.

333

:

Right?

334

:

As, as darkness seems to be winning

or have won, the sun is going to

335

:

return again, like we talked about

yesterday to gather his tribulation

336

:

saints before he judges the

antichrist and his followers and a.

337

:

It's going to be that, that scene

of the son of man coming on the

338

:

clouds in glory and the whole earth

is going to see it's, it's not.

339

:

And that's part of the,

the, the reason why.

340

:

You're not going to

believe these other ones.

341

:

Well, you hopefully won't because

you won't be there, but why some, the

342

:

faithful won't believe them because.

343

:

Jesus says here, it's not going to be

mistaken when he appears it's going to be.

344

:

Uh, noticeable to everyone.

345

:

The heavens are going to be shaken.

346

:

He's going to come on the clouds in glory.

347

:

You're going to see it and notice

it and go, okay, that's the Messiah.

348

:

And so as powerful as these

faults besides may appear to be.

349

:

Jesus got to Trump them all with,

uh, the way that he appears.

350

:

Lessons from the fig tree

again, verses 32 through 35.

351

:

If you can see the signs of the fig tree.

352

:

Be able to interpret the S the,

the signs of the times as well.

353

:

And then again, finally, no

one knows the hour or day, just

354

:

like we talked about yesterday.

355

:

This is part of the,

kenosis the, uh, the self.

356

:

Uh, the self humiliation of the sun.

357

:

Uh, veiling his full glory

with his full humanity.

358

:

Um, and the point here is

again for you and I be ready

359

:

for, we don't know the hour.

360

:

We don't know what he's

going to come back in.

361

:

Our job is to be ready and

to be faithful in this right.

362

:

All right.

363

:

Well, there it is.

364

:

That's a shorter episode, but a lot of

overlap there, but hopefully some good

365

:

nuggets to take away from today's reading.

366

:

Let's pray together.

367

:

Got thanks for your word.
