Shownotes

In 2017, Aker BioMarine, Pure Science Triathlon team and Norseman pioneered a study to show the effects phospholipid omega-3s have on athletic performance and recovery.

The team looked at illness reduction during training, recovery time to get back to intestive training and performance during racing. This all sounds straightforward; until you consider the athletes in question were competing in the 2017 Norseman Xtreme Triathlon, considered the toughest triathlon in the world. After the study participants raced through Norway and climbed the 1850m high Gaustatoppen peak, their blood serum omega-3 levels were measured to answer the question: how important are omega-3s for sporting performance recovery? To detail the study and tell us more about these effects, we're joined by Dr Andreas Berg Storsve, Director R&D at Aker BioMarine.
