My free-spirited and generous friend, Deepu Sadhwani, came to Japan when he was a newborn and was raised in Kobe. He attended a Catholic boys’ international school and talked fondly of immersing himself in sports. After studying at Boston University, Deepu started his career path, which at first was entwined with the family textile company, but eventually started his own garment business, successfully operating in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Singapore, and Vietnam. Deepu is a philanthropist at heart and devotes his time to helping his community and the less fortunate.
