Speaker:

Okay, welcome.

2

:

To Tuesday.

3

:

Hello?

4

:

Yeah.

5

:

We're back with you.

6

:

We got the Bible.

7

:

We've got Isaiah chapters,

one through four.

8

:

Hmm.

9

:

Uh, yeah, it's going to

get, it's gonna be good.

10

:

It's already good.

11

:

I trust that a hundred percent.

12

:

Yeah.

13

:

Uh, in fact, if you've already done your

Bible reading, you might be like, man,

14

:

I say a 1, 2, 3, there's a lot there.

15

:

And then you're like,

oh, how long has four?

16

:

And then you get to four

and it's only six verses.

17

:

Yeah.

18

:

It's still a lot though.

19

:

It's still a lot.

20

:

Yeah, it is needy.

21

:

It is.

22

:

And it's prophecy to you, which is why

this plan again, is so helpful because

23

:

we have the backdrop to this prophecy.

24

:

Right.

25

:

Which is awesome.

26

:

So awesome.

27

:

But before we get there, Yeah, what do

we got coming up right now with, with

28

:

compass Bible church, we got a few things.

29

:

Yeah.

30

:

Next week.

31

:

This week, next week we got VBS.

32

:

Oh yeah.

33

:

Yeah.

34

:

Yeah, that's true.

35

:

Yes next week.

36

:

Yeah, that's going to be fun.

37

:

We're doing.

38

:

Ours from six to nine.

39

:

O'clock right.

40

:

Yep.

41

:

In the evening.

42

:

69.

43

:

Yeah.

44

:

So it's six to nine, so it's

just gonna be darker heat.

45

:

Yeah.

46

:

I remember that that was my

first experience with, uh,

47

:

with that kind of weather.

48

:

Yup.

49

:

We've been Chewy's.

50

:

Yeah, cause it's not the desert here.

51

:

So the cool air does not come in.

52

:

It does not.

53

:

Although the hurricane came and so

that cool things down a little bit.

54

:

Yeah.

55

:

I mean, we gave us a really nice letter.

56

:

Yeah.

57

:

And that's hurricane what

hurricanes do to us up here.

58

:

Some people you might be

thinking, did you get hit by?

59

:

No.

60

:

Because we are like six hours away from

any potential hurricane threatened.

61

:

Uh, no, no, it doesn't.

62

:

The effects.

63

:

Yeah, some of the cloud coverage

and some of the cool air cooler.

64

:

Which would be nice.

65

:

Yeah.

66

:

Yeah, for sure.

67

:

Yeah.

68

:

So we got DBS.

69

:

That'll be a good time.

70

:

Uh, looking forward to that.

71

:

We've also got revival coming up for

our students, which is going to be good.

72

:

God created.

73

:

Down in a hill country.

74

:

That's right.

75

:

Yep.

76

:

With our sister church down there.

77

:

Evan and the crew.

78

:

Yup.

79

:

And then I know this feels like

a long time away, but it's really

80

:

going to be here before we know it.

81

:

Uh, we've got in November, the

transformed conference transformed,

82

:

which is a conference that we're

doing on marriage and family.

83

:

And we're going to have Dr.

84

:

Albert Mohler.

85

:

All about the headliners.

86

:

Yeah.

87

:

Dr.

88

:

Albert Mohler is going to be here and,

uh, be looking for something special.

89

:

On that front.

90

:

I don't want to give away any spoilers.

91

:

But we're going to PR.

92

:

Possibly play something in our service

coming up here the next couple of weeks

93

:

that you're not gonna want to miss.

94

:

Yeah.

95

:

So you should be there for it.

96

:

But Dr.

97

:

Albert Mueller is going

to be there with us.

98

:

Uh, Dr.

99

:

Mike Doris is going to be there with us.

100

:

Yeah.

101

:

Yeah.

102

:

I spent some time with him.

103

:

Yeah, he's, uh, he's our

sending pastor in California.

104

:

And so he's coming out for, uh, for that.

105

:

He's going to be preaching for us as

well at that, which is gonna be awesome.

106

:

Um, and then I'm going to

be preaching at it as well.

107

:

Cleanup, huh?

108

:

Ah, not that bad now I'm kind of slipped

in the middle so that it's like, okay.

109

:

Well, at least we get more

from a pastor, Mike and Dr.

110

:

Mullen.

111

:

What are you reaching them?

112

:

I don't man.

113

:

Full cars on the T.

114

:

I have no idea.

115

:

I have no idea.

116

:

I just, I was asked when you

take it to be a part of it.

117

:

And I'm a part of that.

118

:

I don't think that's a good idea.

119

:

It to a marriage.

120

:

I think that's a bad idea.

121

:

Well, let's open the door.

122

:

Let's see what happens.

123

:

You can do is you might get something.

124

:

That's a great email pastor out on that.

125

:

And he will filter them for me.

126

:

And.

127

:

Bring me what?

128

:

Nope.

129

:

Nuno.

130

:

No.

131

:

rod@compassntx.org.

132

:

It's an email.

133

:

And I tell him, please don't please.

134

:

Don't because I like you guys.

135

:

I don't, I don't want

the bots are listening.

136

:

Are they?

137

:

Yes, the bots are.

138

:

Always listening.

139

:

Do they listen to the podcast?

140

:

The bots?

141

:

I feel like it does.

142

:

How many times have we set our

compass, our podcast, email address.

143

:

Or a podcast.

144

:

Yes, that's true.

145

:

We haven't gotten spammed on that.

146

:

I guess.

147

:

No, not yet.

148

:

We're not big enough for bots yet.

149

:

I get text messages all the

time from bought spammy people.

150

:

The USP S they're like, Hey, we

tried to make a delivery and we

151

:

didn't have your full address.

152

:

We've got your phone number

somehow, but not your full address.

153

:

You should call us and give us your social

security number to verify as well as your

154

:

credit card, dude, those, those scammers.

155

:

They there they're making money.

156

:

Somehow people are falling for that.

157

:

Because otherwise they

wouldn't be doing it anymore.

158

:

Well, I heard it.

159

:

I heard it as new tech.

160

:

That will allow scammers

to utilize your voice.

161

:

To make phone calls to your family.

162

:

With your voice saying I'm in prison.

163

:

Please send me this amount

of money so I can get up.

164

:

Yeah, we're cooked on that

because our voices is out there.

165

:

Yeah, everything that we would say, and

the way that we would say it is out there.

166

:

Yeah, here's the problem though?

167

:

I would imagine.

168

:

Our family would like.

169

:

Verify.

170

:

How would you do that?

171

:

Uh, I'm going to text my wife

and be like, Hey you in prison.

172

:

Can I call her.

173

:

I mean, honestly, that

would be my first thing.

174

:

Like.

175

:

Yeah, I think I would go home.

176

:

I think I'll check.

177

:

I think it would.

178

:

Yeah.

179

:

Yeah.

180

:

Okay.

181

:

I don't know, man.

182

:

So some of the technology that's

allowing that kind of stuff to happen.

183

:

It's it would not be surprising.

184

:

That people would fall for

it and lose tons of money.

185

:

Again, man, take AI, take it all away.

186

:

Give me the old olden days and I'm good.

187

:

Um, yeah.

188

:

You didn't have AI.

189

:

Uh, I had an IAA.

190

:

But not AI, Isaiah,

actually, he did have AI.

191

:

Yeah.

192

:

You know, anyways.

193

:

Spell his name.

194

:

It's true.

195

:

Yeah.

196

:

So there you go.

197

:

And you see Saya.

198

:

Yeah.

199

:

Anyways, Isaiah we're,

uh, we're diving in here.

200

:

A book of Isaiah Isaiah, one through

four today, Isaiah is the most

201

:

quoted prophet in the new Testament.

202

:

Over 65 times is Isaiah quoted.

203

:

Uh, he's a prophet of Judah.

204

:

So he's in the south.

205

:

Oh, hold on.

206

:

Hold on over 65 times.

207

:

Yeah.

208

:

With just give us the number,

then I don't have the number.

209

:

Okay.

210

:

Over 60.

211

:

Over 65 times less than 70.

212

:

I don't.

213

:

No

214

:

66 times.

215

:

I don't know.

216

:

That's just what the commentary

that I was consulting told me.

217

:

It was just an odd number to the over 65.

218

:

Okay.

219

:

Well, is it 66, 67.

220

:

Listen, nine out of 10.

221

:

Profits agree that he's the

most quoted prophet in the

222

:

new Testament over 65 times.

223

:

Anyways.

224

:

Here's a profit during the

reigns of over three Kings.

225

:

For even.

226

:

Zaja who we've been talking about.

227

:

Right.

228

:

As a rye, I would say chapter six

in the year that king Uzziah died.

229

:

We're going to get there.

230

:

I'll put my cards on the table right now.

231

:

I believe the call of Isaiah happens.

232

:

In Isaiah chapter six, I believe

that's his call and commissioning.

233

:

So I'll talk about these first

four chapters as we get into that.

234

:

But so Jonathan who's Azariah son a has.

235

:

And has a Kaia.

236

:

This is the, the, the time

period of ministry for.

237

:

Before.

238

:

Isaiah.

239

:

And again, all in the Southern

kingdom, this is Judah.

240

:

Dates.

241

:

If you're looking for dates.

242

:

Rough and dirty 7 30, 9 to 6 86 BC.

243

:

Uh, it was a contemporary

of Hosea and Micah.

244

:

And administered during a time of

spiritual decline in Israel, except

245

:

for has a CA has a kind of, has some

reforms that he brings to the table, but.

246

:

Uh, outside of, of Hezekiah it's it's not

a great scene in Israel at this point.

247

:

Anything else on background

or the book in general?

248

:

Uh, I would say.

249

:

Uh, high level outline.

250

:

That's helpful to keep in mind.

251

:

Yep.

252

:

Yes, chapters one to 39, which kind

of functions like an old Testament.

253

:

Um, and then chapters 40 through

66, which kind of functions.

254

:

Promises restoration

hope and Jesus coming.

255

:

So it's really, it's a really

easy breakdown, although it's

256

:

a very simplistic breakdown.

257

:

So chapters one through 39

is kind of the first half.

258

:

God's coming judgment.

259

:

And then 42 56, the second

half, I mean, rough and dirty.

260

:

Isn't that half, but you get the idea.

261

:

Do you do 66 and it's God's

promise for hope and restoration.

262

:

That is good.

263

:

And that's.

264

:

You're going to see that there, there

is a balance even earlier in the

265

:

book, there's still a balance of this

idea of, of the impending judgment.

266

:

But, uh, the, uh, The hope.

267

:

And we're going to see that in even

some of, I think tomorrow's reading.

268

:

Uh, when we get into it, uh, That

there is some, some mercy in judgment.

269

:

I think it's, it's in a

Habakkuk, the prophet praise

270

:

in your wrath, remember mercy.

271

:

And I think we see God do that

multiple times with his people.

272

:

Israel, as he's giving both.

273

:

Uh, sides of the equation there.

274

:

As the chapter one opens up with the

Isaiah, the vision of Isaiah son of

275

:

Amos, which he saw concerning Judah

and Jerusalem in the days of Isaiah,

276

:

Jonathan a has Hezekiah Kings of Judah.

277

:

And so here he's, he's laying out

his ministry there in verse one.

278

:

Uh, and so what I think is happening

in verses or chapters one through five.

279

:

Uh, is, is I Isaiah's painting the

picture of the context for his ministry.

280

:

His ministry is really going to

start in earnest after chapter six.

281

:

That's why I believe chapter six

is the call of, of, of Isaiah,

282

:

the con commissioning of Isaiah

that the first five chapters is

283

:

Isaiah, really kind of saying, this

is the state of things in Israel.

284

:

This is the state of things in Judah here.

285

:

And so in verses two through nine

of chapter, one creation is someone

286

:

to serve as a witness against Judah

as to why she found herself in this

287

:

state of destruction suffering.

288

:

God's wrath for her rebellion.

289

:

Against him.

290

:

So, uh, this could be the

destruction that's taking place here.

291

:

I could be depicting a couple of things.

292

:

It could be the Syrian invasion from

second Kings chapter 15 through 16.

293

:

So remember Pekka and Syria that we

just left off talking about yesterday.

294

:

Coming against Judah.

295

:

And in that could be some of the

destruction that's in view here.

296

:

Or it could look all the

way forward to Sennacherib.

297

:

Uh, in second Chronicles, chapter 32,

that's a destruction in an attack.

298

:

That's going to take place in 7 0 1 BC.

299

:

Uh, it could be really

either of those two.

300

:

Uh, that that's being depicted here

in these, these opening verses.

301

:

Uh, verses 10 through 20,

then in this section, the Lord

302

:

confronts the spiritual show.

303

:

At the facade that Judah had put on

for so long, going through the motions

304

:

without a heart of true devotion.

305

:

And God had had enough of their

ritualism and call them out on

306

:

it, commanding them to repent.

307

:

Uh, verses 16 through 17 there.

308

:

And if they wouldn't, then they

would be cleaned in or if they

309

:

would rather, they would be cleaned

and forgiven and that's verse 18.

310

:

So there's, there's some gospel imagery,

like we were just talking about there.

311

:

There's the threat of judgment, but

there's also that, that hope there.

312

:

Uh, and the, the path back is, Hey,

you know, stop, stop your sinful

313

:

ways, learn new habits of living

and behavior and seek new goals and

314

:

objectives, justice, the reformation

of society, so forth and so on.

315

:

And then chapter one in verses 21

through 31 concludes with the Lord.

316

:

Uh, declaring that he's going

to enter into judgment with

317

:

Judah, for her faithlessness.

318

:

Uh, but the judgment was going

to be restorative in and we see

319

:

that even in verses 25 through 27.

320

:

Um, that, that there's going to be,

he's going to restore the judges

321

:

as at the first verse 26, your

counselors as at the beginning.

322

:

So there's a, there's a hopefulness here.

323

:

Uh, still in the midst of

the judgment of the Lord.

324

:

Uh, but the, for those who

refused, they would become Tinder

325

:

for the Lord's consuming fire.

326

:

So chapter one, kind of the indictment of,

of Judah and that's its current situation.

327

:

One of the things that I think is helpful.

328

:

In looking at stuff like that.

329

:

I can pick it.

330

:

The average Christian

reading doesn't seem as.

331

:

Well, so what.

332

:

What does this have to do with me?

333

:

What does this have to do with

the price of tea in China?

334

:

And I think one of the most brilliant

things that J I packer says in his

335

:

book, knowing God, is that the reason

that the whole Bible is relevant to

336

:

us is because God doesn't change.

337

:

He's immutable.

338

:

His personality is his character

is still on display it's evergreen

339

:

because how he dealt with them.

340

:

It is in some ways, the way that he

still deals with us, granted there is

341

:

a big shift and a difference in the

new covenant, but I think it's helpful

342

:

to see the way that God looks at our

worship, the way that God looks at the

343

:

expect expected response of his people.

344

:

And it's not.

345

:

Formalism.

346

:

It's not ritualism God expects

us to bring our full hearts and

347

:

our full heads to the occasion.

348

:

And that includes our, I think

our Sunday worship services.

349

:

And that includes our

small groups that includes.

350

:

I don't know everything.

351

:

If all of life is worshiped and all of

life, that is not a matter of performance.

352

:

It's a matter of bringing what you

have to God and utilizing that in

353

:

a way that is authentic and real.

354

:

So I would say that's, what's helpful

in chapter one, although there's so

355

:

many more things, but as you make your

way through a book that has a lot of

356

:

history, Uh, remember God doesn't change.

357

:

How has his character on display

and how does that matter to you?

358

:

I think there's a lot there.

359

:

Yeah.

360

:

Yeah.

361

:

That's good.

362

:

That's good.

363

:

Chapter two then.

364

:

Uh, something that this could have been

a separate writing of Isaiah's in fact, I

365

:

read one commentary that said this could

have even been kind of like a newspaper

366

:

that was posted on the bulletin board for

the people that needed to be able to see.

367

:

Again, a call, uh, for, for attention

and, and really that's kind of

368

:

all chapters two through four.

369

:

And so that's, that's what we're

looking at here from, from this

370

:

point forward, is this kind of.

371

:

Hey, cultural attention for the

people to hear and to understand.

372

:

Uh, chapter two, verses two through five.

373

:

Uh, this is the ideal.

374

:

This is what is eventually going to

come to pass in the millennial kingdom.

375

:

That's what Isaiah hasn't view here

that this, this is going to be when

376

:

the people flock to the Lord, that

when, when justice goes forth, when

377

:

he's going to judge between the

nations verse four, this is the

378

:

millennial kingdom that's in view here.

379

:

But then from there, he turns in

verses six through 22 and says, as

380

:

it is right now, uh, that's that.

381

:

KA com right now, because right now

what's needed is, is the day of the Lord.

382

:

It's the judgment.

383

:

That's going to come.

384

:

And this is a day where he's going

to humble, the proud he's going

385

:

to execute judgment so severe that

people are going to beg on the Mount

386

:

for the mountains to fall on them

and to hide them from his wrath.

387

:

If you've read the book of revelation,

some of the same ideas come forth

388

:

in revelation that the judgment

of God they're going to be calling

389

:

to the caves to collapse on them.

390

:

To save them from the wrath of

God, such a terrifying thing.

391

:

And the idols that they love so much

right now, if they're gonna be tossed

392

:

aside as worthless and powerless

to save them from what's coming.

393

:

So here in, in chapter two, he's saying,

look, here's the millennial kingdom.

394

:

This is what's ideal.

395

:

But it can't happen right now.

396

:

And it can't happen right now

because you need to be cleansed

397

:

and you need to be judged.

398

:

And the wrath of God is coming, and

this is what it's going to look like.

399

:

Hey, a great verse for your

evangelism chapter two, verse 22.

400

:

Stop regarding man.

401

:

And whose nostrils is breath.

402

:

We're of what the count is.

403

:

Heat.

404

:

You don't fear, man.

405

:

God, God wants you to fear him.

406

:

In fact, Mr.

407

:

Reiterate here the day of the

Lord, as we talked about before.

408

:

It has both near and far fulfillment.

409

:

The near fulfillment is God's

judgment upon the people and that can

410

:

happen over various days and various

seasons over the course of history.

411

:

There've been many days of the Lord.

412

:

Uh, lower case D and a capital L, but

there's going to be an ultimate day of the

413

:

Lord, where he sets all things in order.

414

:

And so all those big scary people

that you thought were so powerful

415

:

and so threatening, they're

going to be cut down to size.

416

:

No one is going to stand

up before God and boast.

417

:

No, one's going to say.

418

:

Come at me, bro.

419

:

No one's going to do that.

420

:

God's going to exercise his strength,

his justice, his power, and all

421

:

the people that we were afraid of.

422

:

We are so afraid of nor are we so

terrified about don't fear people, but the

423

:

message out there be bold as a Christian

and God's going to take care of you.

424

:

Yeah.

425

:

Yeah.

426

:

Well, chapter three.

427

:

You've heard me say time and time again,

and I'll say it again before I get in and

428

:

make the point that I'm about to make.

429

:

We are not Israel.

430

:

2.0, right.

431

:

Yeah.

432

:

That's not who we are

here in the United States.

433

:

We are not supposed to take what

happened with Israel and apply it here.

434

:

But I think there's again, to

your point in chapter one about

435

:

how we can, God never changes.

436

:

I think there's something here for us

to pay attention to because what we

437

:

see in chapter three is society there

in Jerusalem is ultimately going to

438

:

collapse because the Lord is going to

remove his gracious hand of support

439

:

from the people it's going to devolve

into the result of its depravity.

440

:

Uh, that's really the first eight

verses God is saying, in fact,

441

:

he says as much, Hey, I'm taking

away the support and supply.

442

:

So we're not, we're not Israel 2.0.

443

:

And the fact that God is not

supporting and supplying us in the

444

:

same way that he did his people.

445

:

But when, when godlessness

just takes over a nation.

446

:

Uh, God can all Romans chapter one, turn

that nation over to its own desires.

447

:

And part of me wonders is we're seeing

all of the chaos going on right now.

448

:

In our, uh, our political nation in our

society and everything else going on.

449

:

I got to think, man.

450

:

I wonder if this has got looking

at our nation going okay.

451

:

Here have it.

452

:

I have this chaos have the, the,

the nonsense that's going on.

453

:

And here we see with, with.

454

:

Chapter three God is through Isaiah,

the prophet saying, I'm done.

455

:

I'm going to let you see what it's like

to live without my hand of favor upon you.

456

:

And it's not going to be pretty here.

457

:

So that you say that.

458

:

Cause I didn't think about that in

terms of the way that our culture acts.

459

:

I think that's a fair point.

460

:

Yeah.

461

:

One of the things that exists here

that stood out to me is that the

462

:

youth will be insolent to the elder.

463

:

That young people will

not respect their elders.

464

:

They won't show that the kind

of deference and honor that is.

465

:

Warranted, even from a

common grace perspective.

466

:

I thought that's, that's interesting

because I guess that points to

467

:

the integrity of our culture.

468

:

If, if the culture's integrity is

intact, The young people respect

469

:

and honor the elders and the elders.

470

:

Seek to serve and to support the young

people by issuing wisdom and guidance

471

:

and even seeking to protect them.

472

:

Right now you have the opposite.

473

:

You have young people

that don't care about.

474

:

In fact, that's one of the reasons

I love Texas is that you see a

475

:

lot of people that say yes, sir.

476

:

And no, ma'am.

477

:

Thank you.

478

:

Ma'am.

479

:

Those kinds of things

that I really appreciate.

480

:

You didn't really see that a whole

lot in California, but even now, is

481

:

it a broadly speaking or culture is

not that we don't respect our elders.

482

:

And those who are elders seem not to

want to serve their people, but to steal

483

:

from them or to oppress into, to exploit.

484

:

Their constituency.

485

:

And that's a sad place to be.

486

:

I think Isaiah's judgment, even though it

was for them at that place in that time.

487

:

And you see elements, some of these

things here, uh, if history doesn't repeat

488

:

itself, it certainly does Ryan here.

489

:

Yeah.

490

:

Yeah.

491

:

And the, uh, the rest of this.

492

:

Uh, chapter here in chapter three,

what you see is really a great

493

:

reversal of fortunes take place here.

494

:

We see it very plainly

verse 24 instead of perfume.

495

:

And there's going to be rottenness

instead of belt, you're going

496

:

to have a rope and stuff.

497

:

Well, sit here.

498

:

You're going to baldness instead of a

rich rope, you're gonna put on sackcloth.

499

:

And so God is talking about

his judgment through Isaiah.

500

:

He's talking about the fact that the

Lord is going to enter into judgment

501

:

with the people, for their sins in

this great reversal of fortunes.

502

:

You love how things are going right now.

503

:

Fine.

504

:

Wait, wait to see how it's going to

go then everything that, that again

505

:

is so comfortable for you right now.

506

:

It's going to be gone.

507

:

And where, what are you

going to have at that point?

508

:

And, and one of the key themes

in prophecy is God continually

509

:

looks at the people and such.

510

:

You want your idols?

511

:

How are your idols going to deliver

you from what's about to come.

512

:

And I think that's implied here as well.

513

:

What's what's going to happen.

514

:

Hey, you know what?

515

:

No idol is going to be able to

spare you from what's coming here.

516

:

Chapter four then.

517

:

Uh, bookends, uh, chapters two through

four, because remember the beginning of

518

:

chapter two was a focus on the millennial

kingdom that this is what's coming.

519

:

That this is what's good that

this is what God is going to do.

520

:

This is the ideal can't happen right

now because of this individual,

521

:

but this is what's coming.

522

:

Well, chapter four ends that way as well.

523

:

And it's the book end of the section.

524

:

So verses two through six.

525

:

Uh, this again, returns to the

vision of the millennial kingdom.

526

:

The judgment is coming upon the

people, but the Lord's not going

527

:

to be done with them in that day.

528

:

The branch of the Lord is going to be

beautiful and glorious and chapter five.

529

:

Uh, which is in tomorrow's reading.

530

:

We're going to talk

about the vine of Israel.

531

:

And God is going to talk about how

that vine produces wild grapes.

532

:

Well, the, in chapter two in

the millennial kingdom, it's

533

:

going to be a healthy branch.

534

:

There's still a future hope for

the nation and those who choose to

535

:

be faithful rather than faithless.

536

:

There's two ways to approach the

branch in verses two through six.

537

:

And some people will suggest that the

branch referred to here, the holy Brendan.

538

:

Is referring to Christ himself.

539

:

He called the branch later.

540

:

We're going to see that.

541

:

If you got symbology, for

sure, where it's obvious that

542

:

he's not talking about Israel.

543

:

But here, I think the ESD shows

its cards here and that they don't

544

:

capitalize be for branch here.

545

:

Other Bible translations we'll do that.

546

:

So here, I think.

547

:

And now I'd love to hear

your thoughts on this pastor.

548

:

PG.

549

:

I do think that this, the holy

remnant actually refers to.

550

:

Holy Israel, holy Jerusalem, holy Judah.

551

:

Those people that make up God's

people who will be preserved, even

552

:

though there's going to be judgment.

553

:

He says here in verse chapter two,

verse 10, until the righteous that it

554

:

shall be well with them, where they

shall eat the fruit of their deeds.

555

:

Uh, in other words, the righteous will

be preserved, will be protected and

556

:

they are in that sense, the branch of

the Lord, there'll be the ones that

557

:

are preserved through the judgment.

558

:

Uh, but again, some people

believe that's Jesus.

559

:

What, where do you stand?

560

:

Pastor PK?

561

:

I am with you.

562

:

I think it's Israel.

563

:

I would agree with the

interpretation that ESP here.

564

:

Um, I think.

565

:

Uh, the, the branch of the Lord.

566

:

And again, I think that chapter five,

the agricultural analogy that continues

567

:

into chapter five, that contrast.

568

:

Okay.

569

:

But in, but right now that brings

us not doing well right now that

570

:

branch is producing wild vines.

571

:

And so I think that the contrast

again, and in that sense, it's

572

:

going to be Israel and chapter five.

573

:

So here chapter four, I think the branch

is Israel, but it's that future redeemed

574

:

Israel in the millennial kingdom.

575

:

Well, there you go.

576

:

Keep, bring your Bibles

and, uh, stay with us.

577

:

I know there's a, there's a lot going on.

578

:

We're jumping around,

but it's all really good.

579

:

And this is important.

580

:

So keep reading your Bibles

and tune in again tomorrow.

581

:

We'll continue in Isaiah for a

little bit before we get back to

582

:

second Kings and we'll see you then.

583

:

Bye.
