Welcome back to The Spiritual Sanctuary: Wisdom for the Divine Feminine.
Take a moment…
wherever you are…
to soften your body…
to take a breath in…
and gently exhale.
Today’s episode is one that may feel tender…
maybe even emotional…
but also deeply expansive.
We are talking about the spirituality of Mother’s Day—
where it comes from,
what it truly means,
and how we can honor it in a way that goes far beyond cards, flowers, and expectations.
Because Mother’s Day…
is not just about being a mother.
It is about the energy of mothering itself.
Segment 1: The Origins of Mother’s Day (Storytelling)
Before Mother’s Day became what we know today—
a holiday filled with brunches, gifts, and social media posts—
it had a much deeper, almost sacred intention.
In the early:But here’s something many people don’t know…
She didn’t create it for commercialization.
She created it as a day of remembrance, reverence, and heartfelt gratitude.
And even before that…
There were ancient traditions—
celebrations honoring mother goddesses,
the Earth,
fertility,
creation.
Festivals in ancient Greece honored Rhea,
the mother of the gods.
In Rome, they honored Cybele,
a powerful earth mother figure.
These weren’t just celebrations of human motherhood.
They were celebrations of life itself.
Segment 2: What “Mothering” Means Spiritually
Spiritually, the concept of “mother” is not limited to giving birth.
It is an energy.
A frequency.
A way of being.
Mother energy is:
• nurturing
• intuitive
• protective
• creative
• compassionate
• life-giving
It is the part of you that:
• holds space for others
• tends to your own healing
• creates something from nothing
• offers comfort and wisdom
• stays when things feel hard
And here’s the truth that I want you to really feel…
✨ You do not have to be a mother to embody mother energy.
You may mother:
• your ideas
• your healing
• your business
• your friendships
• your students
• your spiritual path
• your inner child
This is all sacred.
This is all Divine Feminine.
Segment 3: Mother’s Day & the Divine Feminine
When we look at Mother’s Day through the lens of the Divine Feminine…
we begin to see it differently.
The Divine Feminine is not just soft and nurturing.
She is also:
• powerful
• intuitive
• cyclical
• creative
• deeply embodied
Mother energy is one expression of her.
But it’s important to remember…
The Divine Feminine also includes:
• the Maiden (new beginnings)
• the Mother (creation & nurturing)
• the Crone (wisdom & release)
Mother’s Day, in its highest spiritual form, is not just about honoring “the mother.”
It is about honoring the cycle of creation, care, and transformation.
It is about recognizing that we are constantly:
✨ birthing
✨ nurturing
✨ releasing
✨ becoming
Segment 4: Expanding the Meaning of Mother’s Day
For some people, Mother’s Day is beautiful.
For others…
it can be painful.
It may bring up:
• grief
• loss
• complicated relationships
• longing
• or even emptiness
And this is where the spiritual lens becomes so important.
Because Mother’s Day can be reclaimed as a day to honor:
• the mother figures in your life
• your ancestors
• the Earth
• your spiritual guides
• yourself
Yes… yourself.
Especially yourself.
Segment 5: Honoring Yourself as the Mother
There is a version of you…
who has carried you through everything.
Who has:
• comforted you in your hardest moments
• kept going when things felt impossible
• held your dreams even when others didn’t understand
That part of you is your inner mother.
And she deserves to be honored.
So today… or this week…
ask yourself:
✨ How can I mother myself better?
Maybe it looks like:
• resting without guilt
• nourishing your body
• setting boundaries
• speaking kindly to yourself
• allowing yourself joy
This is not selfish.
This is sacred.
Segment 6: Ways to Spiritually Honor Mother’s Day
Here are some gentle, meaningful ways to honor this energy:
🌿 Create a Simple Altar
Place items that represent nurturing energy:
• flowers
• water
• photos
• candles
• something that represents YOU
🌿 Connect with the Earth
The Earth is the ultimate mother.
Sit outside…
touch the ground…
listen.
Let yourself receive.
🌿 Honor Your Lineage
Light a candle for:
• your mother
• your grandmothers
• the women who came before you
Even if relationships were complicated…
you can honor the life that flowed through them to you.
🌿 Journal Prompt
Ask yourself:
• Where am I being called to nurture more in my life?
• Where do I need more care and compassion?
• What am I currently “birthing” or growing?
Segment 7: Guided Meditation (Slow, Gentle Delivery)
Let’s take a moment together…
Close your eyes if you feel comfortable.
Take a deep breath in…
and exhale slowly.
Imagine yourself surrounded by a warm, soft light.
This light is the energy of the Divine Feminine…
the energy of unconditional love…
the energy of the Mother.
Feel it wrapping around you…
Gentle…
supportive…
steady.
Now imagine…
this light begins to come from within you.
From your heart…
Expanding outward…
You are not just receiving this energy…
✨ You are this energy.
Silently repeat:
“I honor the nurturing energy within me.”
“I am safe to care for myself.”
“I am allowed to receive love.”
“I am allowed to be held.”
Rest here for a moment…
And when you’re ready…
Slowly return.
Closing
Mother’s Day…
is not just about who we celebrate.
It is about how we love.
It is about how we:
• show up
• care
• create
• and hold space
For others…
And for ourselves.
So wherever you are on this day…
Know this:
✨ You are allowed to define what this day means to you.
And more than anything…
✨ You are worthy of the same love you give so freely to others.
