Today’s Collect gives us cause for pause: “grant, we pray, that we may not be wrapped in the darkness of error but always be seen to stand in the bright light of truth.” To be in error is to be in darkness. Not necessarily malicious at all: but certainly dark because we are not seeing correctly, we are not seeing reality as it is. And this costs us: for the true beauty of reality, even with the evils amongst it, overwhelms our soul. This is how Christians who are suffering can still live it so well and joyfully: life is wonderful, it is too good! Let us take time to read good books about our faith and about God and what he does - for in doing so we open our souls to the dawning light of Christ and make our lives so much more joyful.
