The denouement. James starts work on his story of the century as the FBI comes and goes at Mercy Hospital, questioning him and Mindy Anderson, convalescing a few floors above him. The story has become a worldwide phenomenon. James can't escape the coverage as men in Hazmut suits go in and out of what's left of the warehouse. AUSA Mateo Morales and FBI agents appear on his doorstep, and Mateo gives him an offer he can't refuse: to get one last look inside the warehouse or, at least, the basement. It might give his book the ending it deserves. Or it might haunt him forever.
