On today's show Matt is joined by Canadian music writer Michael Barclay to discuss his new book "Hearts On Fire: 6 Years That Changed Canadian Music (2000-2005)”

How did the Hip get the reputation of being Canada’s band and why did they occasionally shy away from it? Talk later turns to the new book and what made 2000 to 2005 such an interesting time in Canadian music and why it was so ripe for exploration, how the internet played in to the growth of the scene, whether the conditions could ever be replicated again given our modern world, what the sense of community was like across Canadian-acts during this period and lots more.
