Lots of Snow!! Plus, apologies for the radio silence here. illness has taken me out cold (get it?) the last few days.

Well it’s been a crazy and amazing few days - crazy because I’ve been in bed with a fever for most of it, and crazy and amazing because it’s been absolutely dumping with snow! I’m sorry I haven’t been able to update you since last Thursday Morning.

There is so much to talk about , and even more snow. There’s been around 50cm of snowfall at all 3 NSW resorts since Friday, which is just amazing for this time of year. Also due to it being mid-september, the temperatures have been hovering around zero, so the snow has been wet and fallen as rain at times at the lower altitudes. It’s been a bit windy too, with some chairs on hold because of that. But hey, with exactly two weeks left in the season, I think we will take what we can get - and it looks pretty good to me right now. Also, I say there’s two weeks left, but if it doeesn’t get too warm in the next few days, I reckon Perisher at least will extend their opening to Sunday October 9.

Today the snowfall is going to ease off - it’s still coming down as I speak, but should stop by 9 or 10am , with the chance of a little extra fluff up top at Thredbo around midday, as the storm then finally runs itself dry. The winds are on the unpredictable side, it’s looking fairly calm but there might be near-gale gusts so that again may affect lift operations. Otherwise, expect that most of the lifts will be open , except for the Smiggins area at Perisher , which closed last week. The very bottom of Thredbo is looking quite grim too, so you want to stay as high as you can - and don’t be dissuaded when you arrive , it’s still looking pretty great up top! At Charlotte Pass, not only are all lifts open, but all runs are too! Tomorrow might be the day to get up there on their two buck Tuesday deal. Check out my August 30 episode for more info on that.

Anyway, if you’re driving up today, chains are currently required if you're heading to Perisher or Guthega, you’ll have to put them on at Wilsons Valley. If you’re heading to Thredbo, you’re fine from Jindabyne to the resort, but note that chains are required on the other side of Thredbo.
