Welcome to the kickoff episode of the One Small Change. I
Speaker:am so thrilled to be sharing this with you on your
Speaker:journey of exploration and transformation.
Speaker:I'm your host, Yvonne McCoy, and I bring with me
Speaker:almost 30 years of entrepreneurial experience.
Speaker:And, you know, I started out with, I have an MBA, and
Speaker:I started out in in corporate. I moved then
Speaker:to a more entrepreneurial position with a big company.
Speaker:And one of the things that I learned with these things is, you know,
Speaker:we all may have the same goals, but there are lots of ways to get
Speaker:there. And we all have a
Speaker:passion for growth and having an impact
Speaker:on the people around us. And what I learned is
Speaker:that one of the most important things you can do is to do it your
Speaker:way with the thing that you're the uniqueest about.
Speaker:So I wanna help you in this entrepreneurial journey to
Speaker:find ways that one small change can have a huge impact on
Speaker:your business because it isn't always the big flashy, shiny
Speaker:things that you get into that are really gonna have the biggest
Speaker:impact. So every week, we're gonna explore some of the most
Speaker:incredibly small changes, through
Speaker:honest conversations with fellow entrepreneurs, and they're gonna show you
Speaker:how a small unexpected or insignificant change
Speaker:sparked remarkable transformation and growth in their life, both
Speaker:personally and professionally.
Speaker:Inspiration. Exploration and your inspiration.
Speaker:So the way that I got
Speaker:here, where it
Speaker:actually really started, was that I got fired.
Speaker:And for the first time in my life, my slate was
Speaker:totally clean. It was empty. And, you know, I actually
Speaker:remember, thinking, I don't have a job. I
Speaker:don't have a title. I don't have a paycheck. I have nothing
Speaker:to know. What am I gonna do? And
Speaker:so I sat and thought, well, you know, this could be an
Speaker:opportunity. I don't have to treat try to keep building on what
Speaker:I already have. I could actually change directions and go in a
Speaker:totally different direction. And
Speaker:so I decided that I would volunteer. I
Speaker:always wanted to teach, reading to adults because
Speaker:I I I found it inspiring that people were
Speaker:willing to face up to, you know, a struggle that they have and wanna
Speaker:try to solve it. And the short version of it was I was not
Speaker:very good at it. And the reason that I probably wanted to teach, you
Speaker:know, reading was because I couldn't read as a kid and somebody took the
Speaker:time to help me to overcome my challenge. I was not
Speaker:good at that. But what I was good at was I
Speaker:was very good in workforce development,
Speaker:And I was very good at kind of being a
Speaker:translator because they had grants that they had to give away to
Speaker:businesses, but they couldn't seem to make them understand the
Speaker:value of them because they would say, we can increase the reading level of
Speaker:your people. And, you know, they were like, we don't want we don't care about
Speaker:their reading level. We want them to stop making mistakes.
Speaker:And so I was able to go in and say, look, guys. Here
Speaker:here here's what we've got. You've got problems that need to be solved
Speaker:because people are not understanding instructions or not following
Speaker:instructions and not using initiative. If they were
Speaker:able to read better, a lot of this would be fixed. So,
Speaker:you know, the grant is free, but you've gotta invest in this.
Speaker:And suddenly, we had more people taking up the offer than ever
Speaker:before. And so I found that I was kind of a translator,
Speaker:between the experiences the 2 different experiences. And
Speaker:so that's what I like entrepreneurs to be able to see.
Speaker:I had a unique ability to be able
Speaker:to straddle both worlds, and so became incredibly
Speaker:successful at that. And what I want you to see is the thing that you
Speaker:think is weird, and that's usually the thing that your parents tell you
Speaker:not to do, or you've always done that with a, you know, a a
Speaker:sigh of disgust. That is probably the thing that
Speaker:will make you incredibly profitable and
Speaker:incredibly unique so that you have a niche and people
Speaker:high priced clients will be willing to pay for your
Speaker:services. So just imagine if you
Speaker:could find what that was, what or a small change in your business that
Speaker:could shatter some barriers, streamline some
Speaker:processes, or even, you know, propel you
Speaker:to higher levels of success, what would that feel like? What
Speaker:would that be like? So over my years of experience, I've learned
Speaker:that the beginning of that is changing lifelong beliefs
Speaker:that that keep you from uniquely impacting the world. And the
Speaker:key is, you know, that's the key to unlocking
Speaker:the success that you never imagined.
Speaker:I think through this podcast, we're gonna hear from entrepreneurs who experience
Speaker:these these kinds of changes. And I aim to ignite your
Speaker:imagination and empower you so you can amplify your
Speaker:impact on the world and do it faster.
Speaker:So what's your bold vision for change? What hurdles stand
Speaker:in your way? So let's see what we can do together to uncover
Speaker:those missing pieces that can catalyze your business and your
Speaker:dreams to unparalleled excellence. And here's the
Speaker:exciting part. You don't have to do this alone.
Speaker:Every week, I'm gonna sit down with entrepreneurs who've who've cracked the
Speaker:code to, you know, finding ways to
Speaker:do this and and have shifts and transformations
Speaker:that have impacted their business and life in unexpected ways.
Speaker:And I have to tell you that with change comes unexpected consequences.
Speaker:And so it is really good to have somebody to share this journey
Speaker:with and how you do it so that you don't have to make
Speaker:the mistakes that they made and you can get through it a lot
Speaker:faster. And as a first step, I need to make sure that
Speaker:you subscribe and share and engage in the podcast
Speaker:because we want to supercharge your business through connection. And
Speaker:it's my way of giving back to this community and fueling your quest
Speaker:for growth and impact. So
Speaker:let me tell you a little bit more about the show because it's gonna be
Speaker:kinda wide ranging. The theme is gonna be the same. So we're gonna
Speaker:have people who are going to, help you with
Speaker:how the small change that happened in their business. They're gonna teach
Speaker:you about. Other people are gonna teach you about,
Speaker:how a small change in your health can help your business. Other
Speaker:people are gonna talk about how you look and how you present
Speaker:yourself. And so there are gonna be a lot of different categories
Speaker:that impact you because you are a whole person.
Speaker:This is what I wanna tell you. You know, too many times
Speaker:people try to split you into 2 people. You know, you've got your business persona
Speaker:and you've got your personal persona. My personal belief
Speaker:is that you're one person. And in order for you to be effective
Speaker:and have impact, the things that you do should've you should
Speaker:be able to use them both. So the way that I'm not telling
Speaker:you, the person that's gonna talk to you about how you present yourself
Speaker:is not gonna say you have to present yourself this way for business and this
Speaker:way for for your personal life. There are
Speaker:people who are gonna talk to you about how your
Speaker:health is the fuels your energy for your
Speaker:business. Some of the things that I like
Speaker:in particular is and I think one of the things that that they all are
Speaker:gonna be is what is that what is that limiting belief that
Speaker:you have that keeps you from getting out there? And I will share one of
Speaker:mine. It took me a really long time to speak because I'm
Speaker:fat and I didn't want wanna get in front of a lot of people.
Speaker:Thank god for Zoom. So you're
Speaker:gonna find lots of different things. So I invite you to listen
Speaker:to at least 3 episodes to get a feeling about the show,
Speaker:because if the first one is not on a topic that you like, I still
Speaker:think you'll be able to take something away from it. But, you know, you wanna
Speaker:see what's happening so that you can see what the theme is
Speaker:and how it can help you. Because my model is you learn
Speaker:something, you apply something. So every speaker will give you a
Speaker:practical tip that you can use. And then you share it with
Speaker:people because just talking about it actually helps you
Speaker:to clarify how you're gonna use it. And it also makes you
Speaker:more credible because you're bringing new information to your group of
Speaker:people. And then we wanna make sure that you have a way to use this.
Speaker:So by coming to another episode, it says,
Speaker:oh, did I actually use what I learned in the last episode? So
Speaker:it's kind of a built in thing so that you, you know, have automated
Speaker:this learning for yourself. And pick a
Speaker:time when it's a good time for you to listen to the broad you know,
Speaker:the podcast so that you know that it's always there, and you wanna
Speaker:bookmark it so you can find it. So that's what we're
Speaker:gonna be doing, and I'm excited because I think it's gonna make a huge
Speaker:change in the way you view your entrepreneurial and personal
Speaker:life. So I
Speaker:hope I've given you enough that you'll stay curious, that you'll
Speaker:join me for the one small change and embark on that journey
Speaker:where even the smallest ships can yield monumental transformations?
Speaker:And it helps if you can say that monumental transformations.
Speaker:So I want you to listen to the next episode and
Speaker:dive into a world of bold vision and innovative possibilities.
Speaker:And this is the thing that I wanna leave you with. Remember,
Speaker:change can be simple, but it's not always easy because it requires
Speaker:courage and resilience and a willingness to step out of your comfort
Speaker:zone. So I want you to join me so I can help you with that.
Speaker:And be sure to tell a friend. Be sure to subscribe.
Speaker:Be sure to bookmark this so you can find it. And I'm gonna
Speaker:say to you, I want you to stay curious because the world is
