A Podcast Launch Bestie production
Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to episode nine of More Than a Brand Podcast.
Speaker:All right, y'all.
Speaker:Now, I might ruffle some feathers with this episode.
Speaker:I might even lose a few listeners because I'm about to talk
Speaker:about everybody's favorite, everybody's bay, Canva, and, and.
Speaker:Before we get into this episode, let me start with a disclaimer.
Speaker:I thought I had to give a disclaimer, like, um, when you're watching already
Speaker:movies, this disclaimer is I like Canva.
Speaker:I really do.
Speaker:I use it.
Speaker:I use it.
Speaker:A lot of the, um, presentation designs that I do, I use it in proposals
Speaker:because Camba is easy, camba, and during the time that I'm recording this
Speaker:episode, Canva just released a ton.
Speaker:When I say a ton, a ton of new developments that
Speaker:they're offering on Canva.
Speaker:However, Canva can't be used for everything.
Speaker:Now Camba has the magic, right?
Speaker:I will a hundred percent stand behind using the magic right too.
Speaker:Especially if you struggle with creating content.
Speaker:It can give you some ideas that you can expound upon when
Speaker:you're just lost in the sauce.
Speaker:Canvas's easy for making your brand cohesive.
Speaker:Now, when I say cohesive, I mean if you want to, if, if you have the pro
Speaker:package, you can have like your colors, your special fonts and everything
Speaker:uploaded into Camba says your brand stays the same across Canva, just, Develop
Speaker:and released an animations option.
Speaker:Not necessarily sure how that works.
Speaker:Like I said, all this just happened right before I recorded this episode, but there
Speaker:is an option for animations can, the also released a draw option, which is something
Speaker:that I always felt like it missed that it needed, because sometimes just these
Speaker:little raggedy shapes ain't getting it.
Speaker:Canva rolled out its website option a while ago, and if you listen to
Speaker:season one of more than a brand and you know that there is an
Speaker:episode about Canva in that season.
Speaker:But although Canva has all those great things, it is not.
Speaker:The number one tool are the tool that you should be using, especially if
Speaker:you are getting into these corporate spaces as your primary website.
Speaker:I'm gonna say that again.
Speaker:I'm not saying don't use Canva.
Speaker:I'm just saying that if you are getting into corporate spaces, if you are being
Speaker:seen as an expert, Canva does not have the ability to give you a multi-page website
Speaker:at this time, but that may happen later.
Speaker:But right now, on March, I don't even know what day it is, but I think it, it's
Speaker:like March 22nd, 2023 at five 19 Eastern.
Speaker:Canva does not have what you need to create a multi-page
Speaker:website that is s e o friendly.
Speaker:Now you want a quick landing page?
Speaker:Put that bad boy in Canva.
Speaker:If you go back to listen to season one of more than a brand, then you
Speaker:know that I talked about Canva.
Speaker:And I talked about that Canva does not have the ability at that point,
Speaker:they did not have the ability for you to have a mobile friendly
Speaker:website built on their platform.
Speaker:They've changed that, so it always evolves.
Speaker:But at this point in time, if you are using Canva for your website purposes
Speaker:you're looking for a multi-age with many functions, with all the things
Speaker:that you get on a WordPress site.
Speaker:It's just not going to deliver for you.
Speaker:It's not gonna get you where you want to be.
Speaker:Another thing that Canva does not give you when it comes to your
Speaker:website is that s e o piece, and that was talked about in season one.
Speaker:And I also, I wanted to make sure, you know, I wanna make
Speaker:sure I give you the facts.
Speaker:You know, I want to make sure that I give you.
Speaker:Things, honestly, and do my research.
Speaker:So I looked at Canva to make sure that they haven't changed this,
Speaker:but at this point in time, they do not have an SEO capability.
Speaker:Now, the name of your website, cuz right now, you can connect
Speaker:it to your own personal domain.
Speaker:You can use a free canvas domain.
Speaker:So those things are SEO searchable, but that's only one element.
Speaker:Of that, landing page or that one page site that you're able to build
Speaker:on Canva that is SEO friendly.
Speaker:And I will tell you while I'm harping on seo, because SEO is
Speaker:important, if you get your seo.
Speaker:the names of your photos, your copy.
Speaker:If you get your SEO aligned, then that will bring you naturally start bringing
Speaker:you more organic traffic to your website.
Speaker:And there's ways to analyze why things are working that way and
Speaker:what is driving people to your site.
Speaker:What keywords are working.
Speaker:So it's important to think about that when you're thinking, I'm
Speaker:just gonna use can because it's easy, it's cheap, and it's easy.
Speaker:But cheap ain't always right and easy isn't gonna necessarily
Speaker:get you to where you want to be.
Speaker:As a D E I professional.
Speaker:Now I'm not against using Canva for landing page.
Speaker:Use it.
Speaker:It's easy, it's cheap, it's quick.
Speaker:Especially when you have an idea that you haven't sold yet,
Speaker:but you're looking to sell.
Speaker:I'm here for it.
Speaker:But if you are using Canva and you are my ideal client, I'm gonna give you
Speaker:a a at, like I tell my, like I tell my two year old A at put that back.
Speaker:We not doing.
Speaker:Because it's not gonna get you where you want to go.
Speaker:It's not gonna provide you with the tools that you need to excel in your
Speaker:business the way you want to excel.
Speaker:Now y'all remember, what is that?
Speaker:Lula Ru Y'all remember Lula Ru and I remember this was in like
Speaker:20 17, 20, um, 16 timeframe.
Speaker:Everybody, and a mama was selling Lula RU because it was marketed as,
Speaker:this is easy, you gonna make money, especially if you're a housewife,
Speaker:you're gonna be able to get your own income, sell these leggings, and they.
Speaker:10,000 different leggings and the startup was essentially pretty, low
Speaker:cost startup, and people that sold LA Ru expected to get rich Quick Offer
Speaker:these products because it was low cost.
Speaker:It's easy.
Speaker:And those people that sold Lru and also the rest of the world at
Speaker:once, Netflix put it all out there.
Speaker:Found out that because it was cheap, because it was easy, didn't mean
Speaker:it was right, didn't mean it was the right direction to go in that.
Speaker:How I feel about Canva when it comes to websites, because it's easily
Speaker:accessible, because it's quick, because it is cheap, doesn't make it the
Speaker:right choice for your website needs.
Speaker:Now, Canva is given.
Speaker:Adobe a run for they money.
Speaker:I'm not even gonna lie, I'm an Adobe fan, but Canva is slowly growing to where it
Speaker:is making some of the Adobe, suites, some of the Adobe Creative Cloud suites in
Speaker:particular, not needed, but it has yet to reach the status of a WordPress website.
Speaker:It just does not have what it means for you to excel in your
Speaker:business with your website.
Speaker:So if you're thinking about WordPress and you're thinking about, well, should I
Speaker:go on WordPress or should I go on Canva?
Speaker:That easy drag and drop that you have on Canva, you can
Speaker:easily create it on WordPress.
Speaker:With the use of Elemental Pro, that's my favorite.
Speaker:And there's several other builders that you use on WordPress to
Speaker:give you that drag and drop.
Speaker:But if vacillating between Canva and WordPress, and you are at the
Speaker:point where you're reaching corporate clients, don't you go with Kim
Speaker:because you think it's cheap and easy.
Speaker:when money is sent out, it comes back to you.
Speaker:So when you take the time to invest in yourself the right way, you will get
Speaker:the results that you're looking for.
Speaker:But when you hold on to the investment and not investing yourself and
Speaker:going the cheap way with can.
Speaker:You gonna get cheap results.
Speaker:So just think about that as you are going back and forth.
Speaker:Should I just put it on Camba?
Speaker:Don't you try to put that whole website on Camba.
Speaker:You know you got five pages.
Speaker:What you gonna do?
Speaker:Five different domains?
Speaker:That's a hot mess.
Speaker:Don't you put that website on can just because it's easy.
Speaker:Doesn't make it right now.
Speaker:Hopefully I didn't lose you cuz I talked about everybody's bay camba.
Speaker:I love Camba, but it's.
Speaker:The right tool you need for taking your Hot mess website to yes, just
Speaker:because it's easy, because you don't understand WordPress, you haven't been
Speaker:educated enough on how to make your WordPress site work for you, don't mean
Speaker:you jump ship and go to camp because that is not the way to go and it's not
Speaker:gonna give you the results you need.
Speaker:And you gonna be messaging WordPress, talking about some,
Speaker:Hey bighead, don't do it.
Speaker:That is it for this episode.
Speaker:If you have any questions, always feel free to DM me.
Speaker:Send me a note and let me know what you think, and I will see you in episode 10.
