When the money gets tight, the DIY crowd weathers that storm a little better than most. I’m Dan Hansen and this is a Minute at RepcoLite.

When an economy slows down and money becomes tight, many of us stop spending, we cut corners, we stay home, and we bide our time until things get a little better. But our homes don’t stop needing maintenance. Appliances still break down, cars have issues, the shed door starts to rot, the toilet starts to run constantly, faucets leak, and on and on and on. Being equipped to fix some of those issues on your own, without hiring a professional, is a tremendous boost to your wallet when money’s tight. Yes, it still costs money, but it’s a fraction compared to hiring it done. And there’s a sense of satisfaction that goes with DIY’ing a project that you just can’t beat.

A lot of us already do that because we already know all that. But there are a number of us who don’t try because we’re afraid. We feel we just don’t know enough. That we don’t have the skills. If that’s you . . . sit tight. You’ve got the skills. They’re just latent right now. We’ll dig deeper tomorrow. I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a Minute at RepcoLite.
