Steven Webb:
Hello and welcome to a complete disconnection meditation.
Steven Webb:
I'm not sure if that's really possible. Let's give it a go.
Steven Webb:
I'm Steven Webb and I invite you to make yourself comfortable.
Steven Webb:
Allow your body to become calm in this moment and
Steven Webb:
become aware of your breath.
Steven Webb:
You don't have to do anything with your breath. You don't have to do anything with your body.
Steven Webb:
Your body knows how to relax and become comfortable. And the same as your breath knows how to breathe,
Steven Webb:
Just breathe in calm. Breathe out, relax.
Steven Webb:
And we're just disconnecting and
Steven Webb:
allowing the body to be what it is and allowing this moment to be what it is.
Steven Webb:
And if your mind wanders into thought, just smile and bring it back to your breath.
Steven Webb:
Just been aware of your breath.
Steven Webb:
And we're just becoming aware of this moment. Maybe we can use sound. What can you hear? But
Steven Webb:
don't do anything with what you can hear
Steven Webb:
just hear it and You
Steven Webb:
don't even have to name it. You don't even have to say in your mind what it is.
Steven Webb:
Notice the air around you. You can feed it on your face. Whatever temperature it is, maybe
Steven Webb:
you're indoors or maybe you're outside.
Steven Webb:
Maybe you can feel your body touching the seat or whatever your body's doing now is
Steven Webb:
making contact with something.
Steven Webb:
What we're really doing is just connecting with what's real in the world and disconnecting from what's not real.
Steven Webb:
The stuff on the phone and the Tv and everything that's going on.
Steven Webb:
Although that may depict real life events and we don't have to be in contact with it all the time.
Steven Webb:
We
Steven Webb:
can always take a step back and just become aware of what's happening.
Steven Webb:
And you may feel the pull towards checking your phone or you may even feel the pull towards opening your
Steven Webb:
eyes and looking around because you don't know what's going on around you.
Steven Webb:
But you really do know you have your other senses and you just find
Steven Webb:
peace in this moment.
Steven Webb:
Just connect to what's within inside.
Steven Webb:
Breathing in calm. Breathing out relax
Steven Webb:
And one of the biggest ways we disconnect is by realising that you don't have to do anything with this
Steven Webb:
moment.
Steven Webb:
When we feel connected, we always feel we've got to do something. There's
Steven Webb:
always something else on our to-do list. There's always someone to communicate with or something to do. Whereas
Steven Webb:
by disconnecting, ah, there's nothing we need to do in this moment.
Steven Webb:
It's just peace. Just
Steven Webb:
quietness. Just stillness.
Steven Webb:
We don't even need to breathe. We don't even need to relax. Because the body's got all that. The body
Steven Webb:
knows.
Steven Webb:
What if you even go deeper and don't even become aware? Just be.
Steven Webb:
What would that be? Just to be here now.
Steven Webb:
How peaceful is that?
Steven Webb:
Imagine what this would like. Just complete disconnection from everything and
Steven Webb:
just being.
Steven Webb:
And you can do this anytime. You don't have to do it for a long time and really sit in
Steven Webb:
a special, comfortable place. You can just just take a step back. Turn the phone over and disconnect.
Steven Webb:
Turn
Steven Webb:
the Tv off and just disconnect.
Steven Webb:
And just allow the body to relax and allow the breath to be what it is. And just disconnect from
Steven Webb:
the doing.
Steven Webb:
And move to the observing. And
Steven Webb:
then move to just being aware.
Steven Webb:
And open your awareness to everything.
Steven Webb:
Leave nothing out.
Steven Webb:
You don't need to do anything with this awareness.
Steven Webb:
Just the same as sounds coming in. You don't even need to hear the sound.
Steven Webb:
Allow it to pass through.
Steven Webb:
In a moment we're going to open our eyes and just bring it back to this room. And we're going
Steven Webb:
to stay disconnected until we actively choose to.
Steven Webb:
So five or four, just gently open your eyes. Three, shake out your arms. Two, just look around the room.
Steven Webb:
And just remember you can in everyday life and just like right now, you don't have to
Steven Webb:
reach for your phone. You don't have to feel like you're connected all the time. The
Steven Webb:
real connection is just being present but not having to feel the need to do something all the time.
Steven Webb:
How joyful is it that a thought can arise, you don't have to do anything with it. A feeling can
Steven Webb:
arise and you don't have to do anything with it.
Steven Webb:
An awareness, you can see something, you can you don't you might see a tree and you don't have to
Steven Webb:
even lay with a tree a tree. Just, ah.
Steven Webb:
