⭐🔥⭐🔥⭐🔥⭐🔥

In this next instalment of Fierce Woman Rising, I want to introduce you to the delightful Donna Karpeles. This 60 year old mum of 3, grandmother of 1, shares her very real story of surviving domestic violence, but then loosing herself in the "safety" of a new relationship, and the monotony of her 9-5. Donna calmed her racing mind with medication, and only felt emotion when she drank - which she did - a lot.

Donna's raw, real, down to earth nature makes this story all the more relatable and she shares how the decision to see a naturopath to start to heal her body, turned into something way more than she could ever imagine - unleashing the long since dormant "fire woman" within.

Key Highlights:

  • How easy it is to loose ourselves to the monotony of day-to-day survival
  • Donna woke up to the fact she was using alcohol as a crutch because she didn't know how to feel without it
  • The importance of getting really honest with ourselves and understanding our deepest motivators and blockers
  • There will always be people who are uncomfortable and don't approve with the changes we make in ourselves - and how to carry on regardless
  • In order to be loved again by others, we need to first learn to love ourselves
  • That health is the driver to our wealth & and rediscovered sense of self

Claire Markwick:

Claire Markwick:

Claire Markwick:

coach and your guide on this transformational journey. Each

Claire Markwick:

Claire Markwick:

embraced a life of purpose and taking control of their

Claire Markwick:

destinies. Learn from their stories. Empower yourself and if

Claire Markwick:

Claire Markwick:

Financial independence, joy and abundance are not just a dream.

Claire Markwick:

It is your birthright. Let's rise together with fire and

Claire Markwick:

become the next fierce woman rising. Welcome to another

Claire Markwick:

episode of fierce woman rising today I am really really excited

Claire Markwick:

to share this story with you. I have the beautiful Donna with me

Claire Markwick:

today. And Donna is a 60 year old mother of three with one

Claire Markwick:

grandchild that she is lucky enough to have living with her

Claire Markwick:

along with her daughter and her daughter's partner, which is

Claire Markwick:

just amazing. She is a Divi survivor. She is brand new to

Claire Markwick:

this business, and she is on a mission to rediscover her inner

Claire Markwick:

warrior, heal past traumas and re emerge as the confident and

Claire Markwick:

fun loving woman that she knows she is deep inside. But you

Claire Markwick:

know, sometimes just when life takes over, yeah, we can forget

Claire Markwick:

who we are at our absolute core. What started as a side hustle to

Claire Markwick:

Donner to bring in a little bit of extra income to help the

Claire Markwick:

family coffers has turned into something so much more. And I'm

Claire Markwick:

really really excited to share this story with you. It is so

Claire Markwick:

inspirational. It is so moving. And Donna, I'm so grateful to

Claire Markwick:

have you here. Thank you. Thanks, Claire for having me.

Claire Markwick:

Actually. Yeah, and your first podcast. Isn't that exciting?

Claire Markwick:

Let's elaborate a little bit on that. Tell us tell us and

Claire Markwick:

everyone listening a little bit more about yourself.

Donna Karpeles:

Okay, so you've given the basic overall for me.

Donna Karpeles:

But yeah, I've come to a stage in my life where I thought I'm

Donna Karpeles:

just doing the day to day, you know, I am working in a normal

Donna Karpeles:

nine to five job coming home doing to sitting on the lounge

Donna Karpeles:

by myself virtually. And yeah. My husband comes in later has

Donna Karpeles:

he's to go straight back to bed because he's up so early. My

Donna Karpeles:

daughter gets home, she's rushing around with a, you know,

Donna Karpeles:

her little boy and yeah, it just feels like I don't I lost my

Donna Karpeles:

identity. I lost who I was really, you know? Yeah. When

Donna Karpeles:

you've been a when you're as old as me, I suppose. And you've

Donna Karpeles:

been through the family thing. You've got the emptiness thing

Donna Karpeles:

going on my husband, I had a really good thing going on, you

Donna Karpeles:

know, she asked us to and then you know, circumstances happen.

Donna Karpeles:

So Melissa moved back and, you know, things have sort of like,

Donna Karpeles:

gone back. I don't know, my house isn't as tidy as it used

Donna Karpeles:

to be. But that but that's,

Claire Markwick:

I was having a little one there isn't it and

Claire Markwick:

other people and

Donna Karpeles:

and, and I saw that I did I lost myself. And I

Donna Karpeles:

was feeling pretty, pretty flat. So I went to a naturopath and

Donna Karpeles:

she told me that you know, I had a few issues there and she said,

Donna Karpeles:

Oh, by the way, you know, do you want to try some water and I

Donna Karpeles:

weren't sure what sort of water is you know, thinking it's

Donna Karpeles:

coming out of one of those plastic things? Yeah, you know

Donna Karpeles:

the screen.

Claire Markwick:

Yeah, yeah. The bubble of things. Yeah.

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah. They can i Okay, whatever. Anyway, she goes

Donna Karpeles:

no, no, you just try it and see what you think. Anyway, she lent

Donna Karpeles:

me a two liter glass bottle you know that get the big apple

Donna Karpeles:

juice things it well she filled it up and she said you know,

Donna Karpeles:

just whenever you want just come in back through the back door

Donna Karpeles:

and you know, just fill it up. Okay. So that was my start with

Donna Karpeles:

kangen water. Oh my goodness me now. We're seriously when I

Donna Karpeles:

started with the water. I was at eight kilos and feeling really

Donna Karpeles:

fat, frumpy. Just really not liking myself. I was eating

Donna Karpeles:

chocolates or sweets and I was drinking alcohol because they

Donna Karpeles:

were my crutches that's what leaning on, just so that I could

Donna Karpeles:

feel something, I wasn't feeling anything. So anyway, started

Donna Karpeles:

with the water. And within three or four days, I suppose I

Donna Karpeles:

started to notice, notice to change my gut because I have a

Donna Karpeles:

terrible gut from all surgeries from previous history with

Donna Karpeles:

domestic violence. So I could never eat anything or drink

Donna Karpeles:

anything. I say the doctor, oh, my god, I just have a glass of

Donna Karpeles:

water. And my gut goes moody. You know, Windy City, you know,

Donna Karpeles:

it, attic arts, you know, out of the basement sort of thing. And

Donna Karpeles:

my husband would always say, Oh, you have to, you know, forgive

Donna Karpeles:

her. She hasn't got a spleen, blah, blah, blah. And you know

Donna Karpeles:

that, that really started to grate on me. And it didn't make

Donna Karpeles:

me feel any better. But during the water, I noticed that my gut

Donna Karpeles:

had really settled down amazingly. And that I started

Donna Karpeles:

losing weight within the first week of having it, I'd lost a

Donna Karpeles:

kilo. I hadn't changed my diet. And anyway, and I'd lost the

Donna Karpeles:

kilos. And I thought, now I am 76 kilos. So I'm pretty happy.

Donna Karpeles:

And mind you, I didn't start this until March the water. And

Donna Karpeles:

then I got speak to me. And I said, Okay, you have to give me

Donna Karpeles:

more information on this water.

Claire Markwick:

What is this magic stuff?

Donna Karpeles:

What is it? I don't need, I need it. I really

Donna Karpeles:

need it. But anyway, she said, Look, I'll send you a webinar,

Donna Karpeles:

you know, and it was on a master class, which we are having on

Donna Karpeles:

the 28th and 29th of September, two master class days that we're

Donna Karpeles:

having, which will be awesome. I watched one of these. And as

Donna Karpeles:

soon as I finished I message Leah. And I said, Well, yeah, I

Donna Karpeles:

mean, I want I'm all in let me go. Come on. I want to do this

Donna Karpeles:

business.

Claire Markwick:

Can I stop you there for one second, and let's

Claire Markwick:

just let's just recap. Because there's so much of what you've

Claire Markwick:

just shared that it's just like, Ah, this I reckon there's so

Claire Markwick:

much that people would relate with. So you're, you're you're a

Claire Markwick:

woman in your 60s, who is working a job to make ends meet,

Claire Markwick:

pay the mortgage, all that sort of stuff and feeling in this

Claire Markwick:

monotony. And these Groundhog Day, and this, like over and

Claire Markwick:

over every freaking day is the same. I'm just doing the same

Claire Markwick:

thing every day. And then then your circumstances change you

Claire Markwick:

have your daughter and her family move in as well. Because

Claire Markwick:

you're a mom, you want to help her out, obviously. And then

Claire Markwick:

suddenly your space that you've created, even though your normal

Claire Markwick:

that you've created, even though it's not. It wasn't necessarily

Claire Markwick:

lighting you up here, it was the Groundhog Day, it's disrupted,

Claire Markwick:

and they're suddenly left going well, what the essentially, you

Claire Markwick:

know, like, what the hell like, where do I fit? What am I now

Claire Markwick:

like, what, and you're putting on weight and you're feeling

Claire Markwick:

Blair, so you go to a naturopath? I think you know is

Claire Markwick:

what so many. So many people are starting to do now you know,

Claire Markwick:

being aware of you know, our lifestyle and the stuff that

Claire Markwick:

goes into our bodies and stuff that it might not be a case of

Claire Markwick:

going to the doctor's and popping some pills, it's like,

Claire Markwick:

Okay, let's get my body back to some kind of normal, get your

Claire Markwick:

body back to some kind of baseline, and then we can go

Claire Markwick:

from there. So, so that's kind of where we're at, you've been

Claire Markwick:

borrowing, you've been borrowing this water, you've been drinking

Claire Markwick:

this water, you've been losing weight, you've been filling your

Claire Markwick:

spark coming back and you're like, right, give me one. I want

Claire Markwick:

to get me one of these. It's just, I was like, there's just

Claire Markwick:

so much you've just shared in this space of five minutes. And

Claire Markwick:

like, I've got to just recap that That's awesome.

Donna Karpeles:

Well, that's exactly what it was like, and

Donna Karpeles:

then you know, the DBS that we went through, which was Denise

Donna Karpeles:

Turner. She, you know, first of all, I had to go to the platform

Donna Karpeles:

and I had to put down my why, you know, really, you really do

Donna Karpeles:

have to think about it. Why am I why am I doing this? You know,

Donna Karpeles:

my husband said oh my god Another thing you're gonna do

Donna Karpeles:

and I said no, I'm serious about this. I've noticed that haven't

Donna Karpeles:

you noticed that I'm losing race together? I just thought you're

Donna Karpeles:

dieting or something and anyway, he just said yeah, whatever.

Donna Karpeles:

wasn't too happy about it. And you know what? Where there's a

Donna Karpeles:

will there's a way and will was knocking at my door kicked it

Donna Karpeles:

open for me and I walked through it. So

Claire Markwick:

talk about that. Talk to me about the why

Claire Markwick:

I. So for those that aren't familiar, the DBS process when

Claire Markwick:

you're entering this business you go through, you go through

Claire Markwick:

something we call the discovery process, isn't it? And it's like

Claire Markwick:

it's like 10 questions. And it's it really helps us to identify

Claire Markwick:

what it is that we're looking for. Because so many of us

Claire Markwick:

explore opportunities like this, don't we? Because we were at a

Claire Markwick:

point where we're like, we're stuck. We've had enough. We're

Claire Markwick:

fed up and and we can talk about that, can't we, but it's

Claire Markwick:

articulating what we want instead can be hard. And that's

Claire Markwick:

what this process is all about, isn't it? So talk us through,

Claire Markwick:

talk us through your why and what you discovered through this

Claire Markwick:

discovery process.

Donna Karpeles:

Like I said, Before, my why is because I've

Donna Karpeles:

been doing nine to five for 44 plus years, working nine to 595,

Donna Karpeles:

raising three kids working full time, and just had to refinance

Donna Karpeles:

my mortgage. And it's just like, Oh, my God, it's never gonna

Donna Karpeles:

stop anyway.

Claire Markwick:

It was supposed to happen at this stage of life.

Claire Markwick:

I was supposed to be mortgage free by now. Yeah. And

Donna Karpeles:

that's what my husband was saying. So I just

Donna Karpeles:

said to him, Well, look, I'm gonna do this business. But my

Donna Karpeles:

why is to stop working. And for my husband stopped working,

Donna Karpeles:

because he's just got some health issues that are really

Donna Karpeles:

not, you know, making they're making them and, you know, he's

Donna Karpeles:

got your hips and he's got the arthritis coming in. He says,

Donna Karpeles:

Oh, yeah. All this stuff. Oh, well would say and I'm thinking,

Donna Karpeles:

yeah, you're just a black, right? That's just what you do.

Donna Karpeles:

You just moan about it, don't do anything about it. But anyway, I

Donna Karpeles:

went through this, this discovery process, and I

Donna Karpeles:

realized that I actually have a fear of money. And money was for

Donna Karpeles:

horrible people. You know, growing up in the 60s, like I

Donna Karpeles:

did, people that were had money looked down on people like me

Donna Karpeles:

that grew up in the suburbs of Sydney, I grew up in Fairfield.

Donna Karpeles:

And yeah, people look down on us. And I You're a Westie. You

Donna Karpeles:

know, all that sort of shit. You know what I mean? It's like, ah,

Donna Karpeles:

anyway, I have dreams of traveling. I've always had

Donna Karpeles:

dreams of traveling Claire, I, you know, I want to go to Egypt,

Donna Karpeles:

I want to go and dig on a site for dinosaur bones. I want to go

Donna Karpeles:

and explore. I mean, the first part of my years, you know,

Donna Karpeles:

growing up in Sydney, I really didn't do anything. I suppose I

Donna Karpeles:

traveled to Byron Bay, back in the hippie days. That's what I

Donna Karpeles:

call my up days smoked few cones and stuff. But that's what you

Donna Karpeles:

did up there. You know, you and we go surfing. That was what we

Donna Karpeles:

did.

Claire Markwick:

Free, free spirited, free thinking

Claire Markwick:

lifestyle before all that baggage of exactly. And it is

Claire Markwick:

really thrust on our shoulders. Yeah. And

Donna Karpeles:

I want to go well, not back to the smoking

Donna Karpeles:

pot. But I want to go back to my up days of traveling,

Claire Markwick:

you want to feel like that again, you want

Claire Markwick:

to I burn and God can do and

Donna Karpeles:

doing the the discovery process. That's what I

Donna Karpeles:

found. I was missing, I'd lost me. And I thought it's all come

Donna Karpeles:

down to not having money. And I thought I don't, I don't want to

Donna Karpeles:

be the person that has money. Because then I'll lose all my

Donna Karpeles:

friends. And I'll be a alternative to a nasty person.

Donna Karpeles:

You know, I didn't want to do that.

Claire Markwick:

Yeah. Isn't it funny how our ego so I call our

Claire Markwick:

ego can keep us our ego is great. Like our our ego keeps us

Claire Markwick:

nice and safe. But it also stops us stops, that inner child stops

Claire Markwick:

that inner fire within us from coming out to the surface

Claire Markwick:

because it's like, oh, hang on a minute. If you do that, then

Claire Markwick:

it's gonna mean X, Y and Zed and then I'm not comfortable

Claire Markwick:

anymore. So I better put a whole heap of shit into your head to

Claire Markwick:

make you stop to make you not do that anymore.

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah, you're not doing you're not doing your

Donna Karpeles:

normal day to day stuff. So but yeah, after, like, the domestic

Donna Karpeles:

violence I really sort of like I come out. I thought now I can

Donna Karpeles:

beat this i did i i beat him. He's gone long out the picture.

Donna Karpeles:

But when I found my husband, I sort of like relaxed and let go

Donna Karpeles:

to and that fire woman as I've so now being called in It has.

Donna Karpeles:

She's She disappeared, because I felt safe and someone was going

Donna Karpeles:

to look after me. And I didn't need that, that drive that ego

Donna Karpeles:

to go somewhere to get going. And in actual fact, I think I

Donna Karpeles:

should have kept her because that's what attracted him to me

Donna Karpeles:

was my fire my drive my, my wild child. And, you know, he being

Donna Karpeles:

in the Army was very regimented. Me being the wild thing, I

Donna Karpeles:

think, you know, it's union,

Claire Markwick:

opposites attract? Yeah, you've been a

Claire Markwick:

ying

Donna Karpeles:

and yang. And, yeah, I just felt comfortable

Donna Karpeles:

and just let it all go. And I let him control everything,

Donna Karpeles:

well, not control. Well, yes, control everything, you know,

Donna Karpeles:

where we live, what I can do, where I can go, you know, I had

Donna Karpeles:

to sell a car because we were running out of money. And I was

Donna Karpeles:

my first car that I'd ever bought brand new car, and I had

Donna Karpeles:

to sell that to help, you know, pay for the mortgage or pay

Donna Karpeles:

something that was done. And then I got a cheap $1,000 car to

Donna Karpeles:

run around with. And, you know, this is all been happening over

Donna Karpeles:

the last 25 years. So 26 years can't remember now. It's my

Donna Karpeles:

life, I've been, you know, relying on something. And I this

Donna Karpeles:

is what I found in the discovery process, I had let go of my

Donna Karpeles:

reins and given control of my life to somebody else. And it

Donna Karpeles:

was really starting to grate on me, grate on me so much that

Donna Karpeles:

anxiety and depression set in and, you know, things from the

Donna Karpeles:

past kept coming up, coming up. And then I kept thinking of him

Donna Karpeles:

that wild child, he might, you know, leave me and it's just an

Donna Karpeles:

absolute nightmare going on in my head. So I started taking the

Donna Karpeles:

pills the doctor gave me to quiet me out. And that was it. I

Donna Karpeles:

was lost or feelings. The only time I felt anything was when

Donna Karpeles:

I'd drink alcohol. So which isn't good for your body. But

Donna Karpeles:

anyway, this is in the discovery process. I found this out. And I

Donna Karpeles:

had to write a letter to money and to apologize to money. And I

Donna Karpeles:

thought so stupid. But I did you find it stupid, you know? Yeah.

Donna Karpeles:

Anyway, I had to apologize to it because I found being in this

Donna Karpeles:

business that Wow. With money. I can do things. I can travel. I

Donna Karpeles:

can go on retreats. I'm going to Japan next year, for the 50th

Donna Karpeles:

anniversary of the business. I am able to save money now going

Donna Karpeles:

on a cruise in November. What else am I doing? Oh my god. It

Donna Karpeles:

see. And this is the thing I found my wild woman since we did

Donna Karpeles:

our retreat in Byron Bay. I've come back a new person and the

Donna Karpeles:

water. The EU con. You know, the EU cons amazing. Can I say

Donna Karpeles:

people with beside us or arthritic joints? Try it. It's

Donna Karpeles:

really, really good. No, truly, you know, I think I was telling

Donna Karpeles:

you about it how good it is because I've had knee

Donna Karpeles:

replacement and I've got bursitis in my hip. So I have my

Donna Karpeles:

econ every day and I can sleep and not have to worry about

Donna Karpeles:

that. So yeah, I am. I'm totally blessed. All I can say to Leanne

Donna Karpeles:

is Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for introducing me to the

Donna Karpeles:

water first, or being my naturopath first, I suppose.

Donna Karpeles:

Because you Natalie, and she's beautiful. She's an absolutely

Donna Karpeles:

gorgeous soul. And I trusted her and, you know, I thought I had

Donna Karpeles:

everybody kept saying did people tell you it was a scam?

Claire Markwick:

Oh, yeah. And people still do and people very

Claire Markwick:

close to me. You know, people very close to me and my family

Claire Markwick:

and you know, who have known me for a really, really long time

Claire Markwick:

have said some really hurtful things. And before even finding

Claire Markwick:

out any information whatsoever. It's just jumping to conclusions

Claire Markwick:

about what what this business is. And unfortunately I think

Claire Markwick:

that is that does come from, you know, the 70s 80s and a lot of

Claire Markwick:

these like total scam, Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes,

Claire Markwick:

particularly in the UK where I was from and they're in a

Claire Markwick:

certain generation of people. There's this inbuilt fear and

Claire Markwick:

there's this inbuilt distrust of anything that breaks away from

Claire Markwick:

the norm. And so what I was saying To be doing was breaking

Claire Markwick:

away from the norm and doing something risky and and whilst I

Claire Markwick:

appreciate all of the comments and concerns come from a genuine

Claire Markwick:

place of love and care. What really upset me was the fact

Claire Markwick:

that well, you're just making assumptions and you're not doing

Claire Markwick:

any due diligence, you're not doing any research, you're not

Claire Markwick:

finding out anything and you're not trusting me. You know, I'm a

Claire Markwick:

42 year old woman now I'm gonna get to the for Christ's sake,

Claire Markwick:

you know, do you really think I'm gonna risk my professional

Claire Markwick:

reputation? My family's upbringing for something that is

Claire Markwick:

an illegal scam? I'm like, I don't think so. I'm not that

Claire Markwick:

frickin stupid. But yeah, so and I think, I think it's something

Claire Markwick:

that we've all got to, I don't want to say embrace that sounds

Claire Markwick:

like the wrong word. But we've almost got to, we've almost got

Claire Markwick:

to expect there are going to be people that are not mature

Claire Markwick:

enough in their thinking. And I am going to say that purposely

Claire Markwick:

not mature enough in their thinking to open their mind to

Claire Markwick:

something different to something that breaks breaks the norms.

Claire Markwick:

And yeah, it's up to us to then trust in ourselves enough to

Claire Markwick:

keep forging forward regardless. That's the way I see it.

Donna Karpeles:

That's right, you know, and like, my husband

Donna Karpeles:

got scammed, you know, with the Bitcoin so lost nearly 50 grand

Donna Karpeles:

in Bitcoin, which, yeah. Was, I've never told that anybody was

Donna Karpeles:

a bit much, you know, and I'm gonna cry now. Sorry, I'm

Claire Markwick:

gonna apologize.

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah, so doing this, and I said, it's not a

Donna Karpeles:

scam home, it's not. Look, you're, I'm not paying out money

Donna Karpeles:

for nothing. I'm actually paying out money for a water filtration

Donna Karpeles:

system, you know, and the water, you should look at me, I look

Donna Karpeles:

how much weight I've lost. And look how much healthier I'm

Donna Karpeles:

looking. And I'm not using the alcohol as a crutch anymore. You

Donna Karpeles:

know, I feel better in myself, that in itself,

Claire Markwick:

is worth it. And that is exactly what I said

Claire Markwick:

to my mom, I was like, That in itself is worth it. I'm the

Claire Markwick:

same, I've dropped about eight kilos, I look younger, I feel

Claire Markwick:

more vibrant, I feel more energetic. And that in itself is

Claire Markwick:

enough. Like we have rented. We've got rid of so many toxic

Claire Markwick:

chemicals and cleaning products and like beauty products for me

Claire Markwick:

in our house. Because the Ka provides it all does it all. We

Claire Markwick:

you know, that in itself is enough. And the fact that we can

Claire Markwick:

then earn ourselves an income and living more than a living we

Claire Markwick:

can earn a means to allow our dreams to come true from it.

Claire Markwick:

That's just a freaking bonus in my eyes.

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah. But I also love you know that within the

Donna Karpeles:

platform that there is all this stuff to learn about yourself.

Donna Karpeles:

Yes, your mindset. And oh my god, I'm doing one on money

Donna Karpeles:

mindset. Because I wrote the letter to money to say I'm

Donna Karpeles:

sorry, and forever doubting you. And now whenever I get money,

Donna Karpeles:

whether it might be five cents, or you know, I might pay a bill.

Donna Karpeles:

And I'll put on the bill I write actually write on the printed

Donna Karpeles:

out because I get them sent to me as emails. And I print them

Donna Karpeles:

out. And then I say thank you for the money. And thank you for

Donna Karpeles:

the service that you gave me so often, even though it's a bill

Donna Karpeles:

and we all go when we got a bill. But I actually think the

Donna Karpeles:

people that gave me that service. And you know, I always

Donna Karpeles:

say thank you to people in the shops or anything, it's a treat

Donna Karpeles:

to be grateful. And I found in other studies that I'm doing

Donna Karpeles:

that being grateful and thankful. You just wake up every

Donna Karpeles:

morning and you just say thank you. I'm alive. Yeah. You know,

Donna Karpeles:

and I've just since doing this with the water and this other

Donna Karpeles:

study that I've been doing, you know, with epigenetics and

Donna Karpeles:

everything like that. It's amazing how we carry our parents

Donna Karpeles:

thoughts with us. Because that's in your genes. And to break that

Donna Karpeles:

cycle, it's going to take you 21 days, you know, an inner child,

Donna Karpeles:

you know, you only have to say something to a child three times

Donna Karpeles:

and then it becomes a habit and that's what you know. And that's

Donna Karpeles:

actually my daughter told me that she told me that she said

Donna Karpeles:

Mom, do you know if you tell Roy something or allow him to do

Donna Karpeles:

something three times that he That's okay. And he can do that.

Donna Karpeles:

And she's trying to teach him all these things and he comes

Donna Karpeles:

grandma everyday she's knowing apparently but no, seriously,

Donna Karpeles:

I'm it's gonna be awesome to see what his life's like because he

Donna Karpeles:

he'll be one in November since like my when I got my export

Donna Karpeles:

machine could have made June maybe I got it in June I think

Donna Karpeles:

because I joined the business in May 23. And he has virtually

Donna Karpeles:

been on the water since then. So all his formula bottles are made

Donna Karpeles:

straight from the machine there's no need to boil that

Donna Karpeles:

water because it's just pure and students have it he's never had

Donna Karpeles:

a tummy upset or anything like that he's got a cold Yes. But

Donna Karpeles:

that's just because he started daycare but you know, and I got

Donna Karpeles:

my an Esper today. Oh, exciting. For everyone who doesn't

Claire Markwick:

know and an ESA is another product by the

Claire Markwick:

company that we that we align with. And it's a it's a mineral

Claire Markwick:

shower, essentially. So it's a unit that goes into your

Claire Markwick:

bathroom, and the water passes through charcoal filters and a

Claire Markwick:

whole heap of other magical things. I don't even understand

Claire Markwick:

the science I don't need to I just know it's frickin amazing.

Claire Markwick:

Skin hair, everything about it. You just feel a million dollars.

Claire Markwick:

It's like you've been in this like luxury spa every morning.

Claire Markwick:

It is so amazing.

Donna Karpeles:

You know what I I noticed that when we were

Donna Karpeles:

away, that everybody that has the an Esper spa, all your skin

Donna Karpeles:

was glowing. And I thought, I have to get this thing because I

Donna Karpeles:

know your glow from it, you know, inside out, but you know,

Donna Karpeles:

we've got the water inside and it's doing all it seems and I

Donna Karpeles:

just thought I saved some money. And I got the shower. Now my

Donna Karpeles:

husband will die when he gets home.

Claire Markwick:

My husband was like, What the hell is this

Claire Markwick:

contraption now? And I plugged mine in myself because it's all

Claire Markwick:

just, you know, screws in and stuff like that. And he, he

Claire Markwick:

turns it on. And he was like, What have you done? leaking

Claire Markwick:

everywhere because I hadn't tighten things up and nap and

Claire Markwick:

stuff like that. And it's like, Oh my God. So he goes through

Claire Markwick:

his shed and he gets his stuff and tightens it all up and

Claire Markwick:

things and he said to me the other day, he was like, you

Claire Markwick:

know, he's sort of admitted this the tough tradie he's like,

Claire Markwick:

actually, you know, skin and hair does feel pretty good with

Claire Markwick:

that shower. How much?

Unknown:

Thank you. Thank you very much tick, tick.

Claire Markwick:

factly

Donna Karpeles:

minds now do I put it into the bathroom where

Donna Karpeles:

my grandson has his bath? Because you know, I'd love to

Donna Karpeles:

see him have lovely skin everything? Or do I just be

Donna Karpeles:

greedy and put it in my own ensuite so

Claire Markwick:

to be angry as being functionally selfish.

Donna Karpeles:

I like that. Actually functionally selfish. I

Donna Karpeles:

like that. Yeah, that can be me. Yeah. Because it is all about

Donna Karpeles:

me. And that's what I've decided. It's I've done enough

Donna Karpeles:

of the everybody else thing for 40 odd years. Yeah, but it's

Donna Karpeles:

time for me. So yeah. And, and that's what I love about the

Donna Karpeles:

business. There are so many of us that have got different

Donna Karpeles:

stories to tell. But, you know, I thought I will. I did. I was

Donna Karpeles:

really hesitant to go and when, you know, cash said, Come on

Donna Karpeles:

join us.

Claire Markwick:

This is our retreat. We're just standing by

Claire Markwick:

Yeah.

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah, I went. Anyway, I said to my husband, I

Donna Karpeles:

got off the thing with cares. And I said to my husband, can I

Donna Karpeles:

can I go to a retreat and Byron and I went, hang on. I'm going

Donna Karpeles:

to retreat and Byron. I knew it then because he just looked at

Donna Karpeles:

me. But I said I'm going to retreat and Byron. It's in two

Donna Karpeles:

weeks time I'm booking my airfares and everything like

Donna Karpeles:

that. And while I was booking I went and got myself a Qantas

Donna Karpeles:

club card so that I could sit in the Qantas club when I travel

Donna Karpeles:

now because, you know, I thought I'm worth it. I can do this. I'm

Donna Karpeles:

a businesswoman now and that's how I am thinking of this now.

Donna Karpeles:

Yes, it is on the side hustle at the moment. And look, I've got

Donna Karpeles:

to be realistic until I actually start making sales to other

Donna Karpeles:

people and that I need my other income to pay my bills. to pay,

Donna Karpeles:

you know, mortgage and food and everything like that, so I'm not

Donna Karpeles:

being stupid about it. But it at the moment is a passive income.

Donna Karpeles:

And I actually by getting myself my Nessebar, I have now getting

Donna Karpeles:

a commission from that. So exactly, I'm getting money back

Donna Karpeles:

for buying myself something. So I think that that's just

Donna Karpeles:

awesome. And you know, I didn't have the money to start with IVA

Donna Karpeles:

Claire, I told you, I didn't have the money. So I got a loan

Donna Karpeles:

for it, and it is 220 bucks a month for my aid. And all I can

Donna Karpeles:

say it's money well spent. And you know, look, the kids are

Donna Karpeles:

today, they all want to do that. What is it, pay, pay, pay plus

Donna Karpeles:

pay? I like this

Claire Markwick:

zip pay type thing. Yeah. And the idea

Donna Karpeles:

that they're willing to do that, for what a

Donna Karpeles:

dress or something that they might wear once or something,

Donna Karpeles:

but there are a new phone

Claire Markwick:

or whatever. Yeah.

Donna Karpeles:

But I just thought, Oh, this is a laybuy

Donna Karpeles:

system. To me, this is what we used to have the laybuy. But you

Donna Karpeles:

never got the goods until you paid for it. But this way I'm,

Donna Karpeles:

I've done a loan. And I must say the interest is better than in a

Donna Karpeles:

bank. And we can get in the bank if you want to. But I am quite

Donna Karpeles:

happy. My daughter loves the water. My son in law loves the

Donna Karpeles:

water. And I know my grandson does because he just you give

Donna Karpeles:

him his little sippy cup, and he likes to just drink his water.

Donna Karpeles:

So

Claire Markwick:

everybody, little kids actually enjoy

Claire Markwick:

drinking water, you know. And that's, that's yeah, that in

Claire Markwick:

itself is amazing. Like, there's, there's so many things

Claire Markwick:

that I could pick up on, on what you've said. But I think the

Claire Markwick:

biggest the biggest thing that's really shone through to me, and

Claire Markwick:

I'll be interested to hear what listeners think as well, but the

Claire Markwick:

biggest thing that shone through to me is that what started as

Claire Markwick:

what started as something very practical and as much as or

Claire Markwick:

here's, here's a product that is going to help your body turned

Claire Markwick:

into something else practical, it's like Oh, and by the way,

Claire Markwick:

you can actually earn an income from it, you know, so the

Claire Markwick:

practical head is like, okay, tic tic, but what you found,

Claire Markwick:

since jumping in, is that there's actually so much more to

Claire Markwick:

it, and the woman that you are allowing yourself to become

Claire Markwick:

because of it is, you know, going back to the you that you

Claire Markwick:

knew way before way back in the day before life happened before

Claire Markwick:

layers of crap in and just general adulthood and

Claire Markwick:

responsibilities and pressures and past experiences and

Claire Markwick:

memories and people's opinions and your beliefs about yourself

Claire Markwick:

and your the self talk before all that shit piled up. You

Claire Markwick:

know, you're this is now allowing you to crack through

Claire Markwick:

all of that. Yeah. Now, I want you to come back out again, how

Claire Markwick:

many businesses do that?

Donna Karpeles:

And I've worked in quite a few businesses,

Donna Karpeles:

multinational companies that spruik all this love and you

Donna Karpeles:

know, all these pillars of whatever they want to call them.

Donna Karpeles:

And don't actually practice it.

Claire Markwick:

tick box, isn't it corporate? tickbox

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah, and they don't you know, and I've spoke

Donna Karpeles:

to other people that are the same and they're just going oh,

Donna Karpeles:

wish I had your guts. And I said, Well, I didn't have any.

Donna Karpeles:

It's just that after I did the my discovery process and if

Donna Karpeles:

there's something that I'm not sure on now, I can go back to

Donna Karpeles:

that or talk to one of you girls and yeah, I look I am absolutely

Donna Karpeles:

beaming. I haven't felt this good or alive in years and I

Donna Karpeles:

just want to say thank you everybody. Because you allowed

Donna Karpeles:

me to come out of my I don't know what it was my depression,

Donna Karpeles:

my anxiety hibernation hearing. Yep. And you know, I would hide

Donna Karpeles:

under frumpy clothes. I have got some really frumpy ship my

Donna Karpeles:

cupboard which I don't know if you could see but this is a new

Donna Karpeles:

dress that I've got on I

Claire Markwick:

just beautiful, colorful, vibrant,

Donna Karpeles:

energetic, and that's just how I am this is

Donna Karpeles:

what my husband fell in love with. And he said to me, Oh, you

Donna Karpeles:

look good. Like isn't that

Claire Markwick:

just freaking amazing? Like we are in a if we

Claire Markwick:

are in a funk and I was messaging someone about this

Claire Markwick:

just this morning if we are in a funk, we have got to get

Claire Markwick:

ourselves out of that funk. First, we have got to love

Claire Markwick:

ourselves before others can love us, we have got to give to

Claire Markwick:

ourselves before others can give to us. We've got to be trust

Claire Markwick:

ourselves before others can trust us. It always starts with

Claire Markwick:

us, doesn't it? And so if there's something that we want,

Claire Markwick:

that we don't feel we're getting it is feedback to have a look at

Claire Markwick:

how we're not giving it to ourselves. So now you're out of

Claire Markwick:

that funk, you're coming out of the other side of you're hiding

Claire Markwick:

and you're loving yourself, you're loving on yourself, your

Claire Markwick:

husband can see you again. How amazing is that?

Donna Karpeles:

No. And that and that also, like attracts like?

Donna Karpeles:

Yep. So if I'm loving myself, he's gonna love me. And it's,

Donna Karpeles:

it's like with everything, and I just can't thank this business

Donna Karpeles:

enough for helping me, you know, pull me out. And make me

Donna Karpeles:

actually think and question my Why Why am I doing this? Why do

Donna Karpeles:

I allow myself to beat up on myself? You know, for things

Donna Karpeles:

that I had, you know, I couldn't control or stop a person from

Donna Karpeles:

doing what they did to me all those years ago. If I tried to

Donna Karpeles:

tell anybody, he would threaten to go after them and hurt them.

Donna Karpeles:

So I had to get out of that situation myself. And that's

Donna Karpeles:

where that that enemy came out again. And I was doing that for

Donna Karpeles:

five years on my own. And then I, like I said, met my husband,

Donna Karpeles:

and he fell in love with that. And she went and hid again. But

Donna Karpeles:

she's coming back out. And she's coming out with a vengeance. So

Donna Karpeles:

the the Yeah, I am totally blessed. I have to say I am. I'm

Donna Karpeles:

not a religious person, but I do believe there's gods. Yep.

Donna Karpeles:

There's a higher beam

Claire Markwick:

and Aryans, you know, oversee, you know,

Claire Markwick:

whatever you want to call them. There's people that look out for

Claire Markwick:

us. Yeah, well,

Donna Karpeles:

maybe the vibrations. I've got, I'm on

Donna Karpeles:

that higher vibration now. So I'm going to attract that to me.

Donna Karpeles:

And I think in this business that also teaches that, you

Donna Karpeles:

know, and I think I'm hearing it from one spot, now I'm hearing

Donna Karpeles:

it from another spot. So it can't be woowoo or anything like

Donna Karpeles:

that. And I've been doing my other training now, this will be

Donna Karpeles:

my third year, which has really helped me to come out. But the

Donna Karpeles:

breakaway for me was the retreat. Yeah. You know, meeting

Donna Karpeles:

or everybody face to face able to hug people. And, you know, I

Donna Karpeles:

picked Joanne up from Byron Bay. And within 10 minutes of driving

Donna Karpeles:

in the car, it was like, we're all buddies. You know, like, she

Donna Karpeles:

was my sister from another mother. And we, and that's the

Donna Karpeles:

thing, this this community that we're in, it's a beautiful

Donna Karpeles:

community. And it's, it's not about money, or Oh, look at me,

Donna Karpeles:

I'm, you know, earning X amount of dollars, because there was

Donna Karpeles:

lots of different people in that group. There was people like me

Donna Karpeles:

newbies, people like you that have been in there for a little

Donna Karpeles:

bit. But nobody worries about that. Everybody's there to help

Donna Karpeles:

everybody else up. And it doesn't matter if it's within

Donna Karpeles:

the business side of things. It's personal. It's

Claire Markwick:

health. Yeah, anything in our stuff. Yeah.

Claire Markwick:

Yeah,

Donna Karpeles:

you know, there is always someone there to

Donna Karpeles:

listen. And because we've got people, not only women, there's

Donna Karpeles:

men in there as well. And, you know, there is always someone

Donna Karpeles:

there that can help you. And I am totally blessed to to be

Donna Karpeles:

within this business. And I thank you, Claire for letting me

Donna Karpeles:

talk today.

Claire Markwick:

It's been an absolute honor. I was just gonna

Claire Markwick:

I was gonna ask you one final thing. If there are, if there

Claire Markwick:

are women listening to this, if they're ananas listening to this

Claire Markwick:

thinking to themselves are you know, I'm too old for this. My

Claire Markwick:

life is set now. I couldn't I there's no way I could do this.

Claire Markwick:

What would be your advice to them?

Donna Karpeles:

My advice? Well, actually, there's a woman in the

Donna Karpeles:

business who's 72. And she is thriving. I would don't listen

Donna Karpeles:

to what your husband says. Because or your partner. Let's

Donna Karpeles:

just don't listen to your partner. Listen to your inner

Donna Karpeles:

self truly. If it feels right for you, and you've never had

Donna Karpeles:

it. How would you put it? If you If you doubt yourself, you'll

Donna Karpeles:

keep on doubting yourself and you're being stuck. Why if you

Donna Karpeles:

You let other people tell you how to live. And you keep

Donna Karpeles:

listening to the naysayers in your life, you'll be stuck where

Donna Karpeles:

you are, which is what I did. Because it was easy to be that

Donna Karpeles:

way and knowing what's going to happen rather than jumping out

Donna Karpeles:

which I did jump full feet in, just jump in, go for it. Be that

Donna Karpeles:

young teenager again, and go for it. And look. I actually was

Donna Karpeles:

talking to some people yesterday, I went to the Henty

Donna Karpeles:

Field Day. And I had some conversations. I've got to send

Donna Karpeles:

some information out today. I love Yes. And my hairdresser

Donna Karpeles:

today she goes, I don't know you're going to send me this

Donna Karpeles:

stuff. And I'm actually when I finished this, I'm going down to

Donna Karpeles:

drop her some water. And tell the the other hairdresser that

Donna Karpeles:

said the one that owns the business, about the Nessebar

Claire Markwick:

absolutely get those in this was in the cell,

Claire Markwick:

oh my god, everyone is going to be loving their hair.

Donna Karpeles:

You know, they're just going to be they

Donna Karpeles:

can do it as a spa treatment for their hair. So anyway, look.

Donna Karpeles:

Trust your instincts. Because if you don't, you're just gonna be

Donna Karpeles:

sitting back there on the couch, just go on. And then on your

Donna Karpeles:

deathbed, you'll just say, Oh, I wish I had done this or I wish I

Donna Karpeles:

had done that. Because that's how I was and no more not. Now.

Claire Markwick:

Instead of spending that 50 bucks a week on

Claire Markwick:

alcohol to drown your sorrows and numb all that out. You're

Claire Markwick:

repaying your you're repaying your investment in yourself,

Claire Markwick:

your health, your wealth. And and let's face it your next

Claire Markwick:

generation because you've led the way you've shown the courage

Claire Markwick:

you've gone first, that's going to rub off on your daughter

Claire Markwick:

that's gonna rub off on her son, and that's gonna rub off on all

Claire Markwick:

the generations to come. So you're breaking the cycle,

Claire Markwick:

because you're the one who was brave enough to go first. And I

Claire Markwick:

love that.

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah, and you know, we're water snobs. We

Donna Karpeles:

really aren't that water. Like, you. That smells horrible. I

Donna Karpeles:

just can't drink it. Now, water snob, apparently, there's coffee

Donna Karpeles:

snobs, and you'll be even more a coffee snob.

Claire Markwick:

When you make it with the water. Yeah, with

Claire Markwick:

your coffee or tea.

Donna Karpeles:

You'll never have tap water in your jug

Donna Karpeles:

again. Oh my god. It's so funny plays. If anything, just just

Donna Karpeles:

have a look. It doesn't cost you anything to look. It doesn't

Donna Karpeles:

cost you anything to ask. And that's what I did. I pasted it

Donna Karpeles:

first. And then I talked. And I talked and I kept having an

Donna Karpeles:

honorarium. And then I went up. I'm doing this. So do it. Yeah.

Claire Markwick:

Love it. Donna, thank you so much for anyone and

Claire Markwick:

everyone who has resonated with your story. I'll put all your

Claire Markwick:

social links in the show notes to this episode as well so

Claire Markwick:

people can reach out and connect with you. And I'm sure you'll be

Claire Markwick:

alright with that.

Donna Karpeles:

Yeah. Thanks. i Yeah,

Claire Markwick:

I love it. I absolutely love I love talking

Claire Markwick:

to you. I love hearing your story. I think it's really

Claire Markwick:

inspirational. Thank you so much.

Unknown:

Thank you so much. Bye, bye.

Claire Markwick:

Isn't she just a delight, like seriously, I

Claire Markwick:

really got to know Donna at our recent retreat in Byron Bay and

Claire Markwick:

we were sat around the pool soaking up the sun and she was

Claire Markwick:

just telling me about her, her younger days, her abusive

Claire Markwick:

relationship, how she, you know, was beaten within an inch of her

Claire Markwick:

life. How she got through that and found her now husband and I

Claire Markwick:

was just like, Oh, my God, you have to share your story and you

Claire Markwick:

have to speak about it more because that is people will

Claire Markwick:

relate to that people. There are people who have been through

Claire Markwick:

similar things to to Donner and and if you are one of those and

Claire Markwick:

you are listening to this, then you know, I know that she would

Claire Markwick:

be happy for you to reach out and and chat things through but

Claire Markwick:

I just absolutely love her attitude. Now I love so much

Claire Markwick:

about everything that she shared. And I think it's really

Claire Markwick:

really relatable particularly to women in their 60s. You know, I

Claire Markwick:

see that as my mom's generation. We just we I'm not there yet.

Claire Markwick:

You get in a place of well, this is just it now you know, this is

Claire Markwick:

this is where I'm at. It's too late to try anything new. I just

Claire Markwick:

have to you know make the best of where I'm at. And what I love

Claire Markwick:

about Donna and her story is that she hasn't settled for that

Claire Markwick:

she's she's still looking for opportunities and and something

Claire Markwick:

that started off in the more practical space of helping her

Claire Markwick:

body get back to a natural flow state has now emerged has now

Claire Markwick:

emerged that's the wrong word. What's the word I'm looking for,

Claire Markwick:

flowed into something that is going to earn her an income as

Claire Markwick:

well and means that she doesn't have to work a nine to five

Claire Markwick:

until she's 7075 years old in order to pay the mortgage. And I

Claire Markwick:

think that's just absolutely fabulous. I think what I love

Claire Markwick:

about this business is the fact that we all go into it for

Claire Markwick:

whatever practical reason we go into it. For donner, it was

Claire Markwick:

health. For me, it was an extra income on the side. But what we

Claire Markwick:

soon discover very, very quickly is that there is so much inner

Claire Markwick:

work that comes from being an entrepreneur and having your own

Claire Markwick:

business, and we are 110% supported in that space as well.

Claire Markwick:

And doing that inner work allows us to shine even brighter to

Claire Markwick:

impact even more lives, impact, even more people feel better

Claire Markwick:

within ourselves, that ripples into our close relationships and

Claire Markwick:

our families, I just can you just love the comment where

Claire Markwick:

Donna shared how her husband made reference to the fact that

Claire Markwick:

she looked good. I think that is so so beautiful. And when we

Claire Markwick:

like I said at the time, when we start loving on ourselves, when

Claire Markwick:

we start appreciating ourselves, it allows other people to

Claire Markwick:

appreciate us too. So so so good, I trust you got oodles and

Claire Markwick:

oodles of value out of that episode. And something that she

Claire Markwick:

spoke about a lot was the power of the discovery process and

Claire Markwick:

answering really quite confronting questions as to what

Claire Markwick:

it actually is that we want. And this is something I talk about a

Claire Markwick:

lot, you know, it's really, really easy to talk about all

Claire Markwick:

the things in our lives that we don't enjoy, and that aren't how

Claire Markwick:

we want them to be. But when it comes to talking about things

Claire Markwick:

that we want instead, that's where many of us are stumped. So

Claire Markwick:

if that's you, and and you're curious about what this

Claire Markwick:

discovery process looks like, and how you can be a part of it,

Claire Markwick:

and how you can go through it, then just reach out. And and

Claire Markwick:

I'll let you know, at the end of the day, it doesn't even you

Claire Markwick:

don't even need to go into this business to do to do that

Claire Markwick:

process. Yeah, that's a valuable step to do on its own. And if

Claire Markwick:

you decide Well, no, I don't want to I don't want to go into

Claire Markwick:

high ticket affiliate marketing and and forefinger commissions

Claire Markwick:

from posting on my socials, I want to I don't want to do that

Claire Markwick:

I'm gonna keep doing what I'm doing, that's fine. But you've

Claire Markwick:

still opened your eyes to something, you've still created

Claire Markwick:

new neural pathways, you still started to articulate the life

Claire Markwick:

that you want. And when you can actually articulate something,

Claire Markwick:

you can have it because you begin to see opportunities that

Claire Markwick:

you couldn't see before because those pathways in your brain

Claire Markwick:

were just closed off. So it's an incredibly valuable, valuable

Claire Markwick:

process. And I would encourage anybody who is not feeling 110%

Claire Markwick:

content with their life right now to to go through it and

Claire Markwick:

answer their questions and get some clarity on where you want

Claire Markwick:

to take your life and what sort of vehicle you're going to need

Claire Markwick:

to look for in order to get there. All right, that is enough

Claire Markwick:

for me all of Donna's contact details are going to be in the

Claire Markwick:

show notes to this episode, along with all of mine, and a

Claire Markwick:

link to my fierce woman rising masterclass or you can message

Claire Markwick:

me and I will send you a link to that masterclass message me the

Claire Markwick:

word masterclass Donna, and I will send you the link to that

Claire Markwick:

class. It will tell you all about high ticket affiliate

Claire Markwick:

marketing, what we do, why we do it, why we love it, how we do at

Claire Markwick:

how much we earn and how you can get into that discovery process

Claire Markwick:

and start exploring for yourself. Okay, thank you so

Claire Markwick:

much for lending me your ears. I will be back with you for

Claire Markwick:

another episode next week. And until then, bye bye
