In this episode, we discuss how moving too fast can actually slow down your progress. I'll explain how going slow can be a strategy that most people ignore, but can be incredibly powerful in growing your business.

What if I told you that to speed up, you actually have

to slow down in this episode.

We're going to explore the idea that moving too fast,

Speaker:

actually hinders your progress.

Speaker:

I'm Amin Ahmed.

Welcome to be.

Speaker:

Well, do well.

Speaker:

I wanna start with a quick story.

Speaker:

About my nine year old son, as with most young boys, he likes

Speaker:

to play with his trains and toys.

Speaker:

He enjoys video games.

Speaker:

He loves YouTube and he's a bit of a techie himself, but he puts up a

Speaker:

lot of resistance when it comes to practicing his music or doing homework.

Speaker:

He's a really good piano player, but he just doesn't like to practice.

Speaker:

In about a month.

Speaker:

He's going to be playing in a music competition and he has

Speaker:

to play two different songs.

Speaker:

For his first song, he learned all the notes.

Speaker:

First.

Speaker:

He picked up some bad habits and mistakes, but he learned

Speaker:

the whole song very quickly.

Speaker:

Then he went back and started to iron out any kinks or mistakes in his performance.

Speaker:

This led to a lot of frustration as he had already developed these bad habits.

Speaker:

And it took a lot longer than expected.

Speaker:

For the second song, we tried something a little bit different

Speaker:

instead of just ripping through the song and learning all of the notes.

Speaker:

Roughly we spent more time front and learned each line perfectly.

Speaker:

The first time it took a lot longer, but the result was that in one

Speaker:

week he had learned the entire song perfectly and was ready to perform.

Speaker:

However, the first song hadn't even been refined enough for him to perform.

Speaker:

using this example.

Speaker:

You can see that in business, we see the same thing.

Speaker:

We often rush to get things done, and then we find that it wasn't

Speaker:

done complete, or it could have been done a lot better moving too

Speaker:

quickly results in errors, which then takes time to fix and move forward.

Speaker:

each time you go back to fix these issues, you lose momentum.

Speaker:

And if you're like most business owners, if you lose momentum, it's

Speaker:

really hard to catch up again.

Speaker:

Momentum fuels our progress.

Speaker:

One of the things that we do in our business is that all our staff

Speaker:

members use a planner that we created.

Speaker:

It's called a be well do well planner.

Speaker:

Now this planner helps you planning your tasks, but it also

Speaker:

has a long-term component to it.

Speaker:

So you plan out what your goal is or your vision is for the next six months.

Speaker:

And then you work towards that every single day.

Speaker:

We encourage all of our team members not to rush through it.

Speaker:

Spend time, focus, get into deep work and really execute with perfection.

Speaker:

This is probably one of the most important things that has helped us grow our

Speaker:

business is to remember to plan before you execute, when you don't plan, you

Speaker:

often just end up making busy work planning will force you to get organized

Speaker:

before you rush into the doing phase.

Speaker:

I know personally, when I rush to get things done, the end goal wasn't as

Speaker:

rewarding as I thought it would be.

Speaker:

The journey itself is so fulfilling sometimes that when you get to the end,

Speaker:

if you missed it because you were rushing, it actually makes you feel quite empty.

Speaker:

So the next time you're starting a new project or learning a new.

Speaker:

Think about starting slow, very, very slow so that you can move fast.
