Let's get straight to it. 7 quick wins for drinking less this summer.
-:
If you're looking to cut back on your drinking and embrace a slightly different way of life than your usual, I think this is incredible news.
-:
Here are some ideas to help you today.
-:
I thought that if I started to drink less I'd end up lonely, miserable and boring.
-:
As it turns out nothing could have been further from the truth and with that in mind I'm going to share these 7 ideas with you.
-:
Number 1, feel good about this choice you are making.
-:
We are here on this earth to live well physically and spiritually.
-:
Don't see drinking less as a punishment or an event to endure.
-:
This choice is a really good choice.
-:
Number 2, begin a practice of self reflection.
-:
Take a gentle moment for introspection and consider why you're drawn to drinking.
-:
Is it overwhelm, habit, or something else?
-:
Understanding the underlying factors will empower you to make positive choices.
-:
I would say I was not physically addicted to alcohol, but I definitely had an emotional attachment to it.
-:
I really did believe it helped me to unwind at the end of a long and stressful day. Number 3, set short term goals.
-:
Start by setting achievable goals for yourself.
-:
Rather than abruptly eliminating alcohol altogether, set some small targets, such as limiting your drinking to specific days or occasions.
-:
Drink and enjoy the drinks on days that feel good, but not the habit or the stress days.
-:
Celebrate each milestone as you go along. Number 4, discover alternatives. Alternatives.
-:
Explore the wide array of amazing non alcoholic options that are now available.
-:
Either experiment with mocktails or alcohol free beers or gins.
-:
There are herbal teas and flavorful juices.
-:
You'll find so many refreshing alternatives that allow you to have that magic moment at the end of the day where you chuck
-:
in ice and a slice to your favourite glass and pour something delicious. Number 5, create nice rituals.
-:
Replace the drinking routine with something new.
-:
Consider going for a rejuvenating walk, meditating, practicing yoga, indulging in a soothing bubble bath, or just lying on
-:
the sofa watching what you want to on TV.
-:
Allow the distractions to help you unwind and de stress. Number 6, keep yourself some notes.
-:
Whether you fancy writing in a journal or using the notes app on your phone, record how you are feeling as you drink less.
-:
Does your low level brain fog lighten up a bit? Do your mornings feel easier?
-:
Do you notice you have more energy or time?
-:
Pull out the good news stories and then use those to bolster yourself forward. Number 7, seek support. Remember, you're not alone.
-:
Reach out to people who care about you or who share your intention to drink less.
-:
Their encouragement, understanding, and accountability will be excellent support.
-:
Consider joining a support group or seeking professional guidance.
-:
Remember that habit change takes time and remember to celebrate what you achieve and what you learn as as you go. Thank you for listening in today. Come back again next week.
