:What's up folks?
3
:It's Wednesday and man, it's Men's Retreat
Week and we are so stoked for this.
4
:It's gonna be an amazing weekend.
5
:If you're not signed up, men,
I don't know what to tell you.
6
:Yeah, I don't think we're, we can't
sign up anymore, so we can't sign up
7
:anymore, but we're gonna miss you.
8
:Like we wish you that
you were gonna be there.
9
:We'll come back and we'll try
to convey that it was an awesome
10
:time and you totally missed out
on an amazing time out there.
11
:But we'll do more of these.
12
:This is not gonna be the last one
by any stretch of the imagination,
13
:but we are stoked for this weekend.
14
:It's gonna be a great time.
15
:We are, and part of what's gonna be so
exciting is that we're gonna spend a
16
:lot of time doing fun stuff together,
as long as the weather holds out.
17
:I remember last time we got rained
in, but hopefully the weather
18
:is accommodating this year.
19
:But we like this place.
20
:This place is a really nice place.
21
:The food's good.
22
:The location is beautiful.
23
:There's lots of, it, it doesn't
feel like Texas in some ways.
24
:It's actually very pretty
in a lot of good ways.
25
:Shots fired on the host of Texas.
26
:I'm fine.
27
:We live in North Texas where there's
not a lot going on, so I'm not saying
28
:anything no one else knows about.
29
:It's just true.
30
:In California there's a lot more to
look at and here at this camp Mount
31
:Lebanon Baptist Camp, there is a
lot to look at and it's beautiful.
32
:So hope you can make it
if you're coming along.
33
:If not, I think we'll be back here
again next year, if I'm not mistaken.
34
:We'll see how it goes.
35
:Yeah.
36
:But we loved it last time.
37
:Yeah.
38
:Our ladies are going down
there for women's retreat.
39
:Oh.
40
:'cause we hiked up October.
41
:So much.
42
:October.
43
:Yeah.
44
:So they're saying, we want in,
we wanna do this thing too.
45
:They're gonna like it.
46
:They will like it.
47
:Yeah.
48
:Hey, we got a lot going on.
49
:Don't forget, we are moving our location's
coming up in just about two weeks here.
50
:We've got two more Sundays down in Frisco,
and then we're gonna be up in Prosper.
51
:Wow.
52
:And we know that's not
great news for everybody.
53
:We got some people driving from a
little bit further away already.
54
:And this maybe extends the drive
for a few people out there.
55
:And, hey, we love you and we are
not trying to tell you, we don't
56
:want you to be a part of our church.
57
:We just want you to drive
a little bit further.
58
:That's all.
59
:But we know that this is gonna be a
great move for the majority of our people
60
:and it also sets us up into the mission
field that we're wanting to be a part of.
61
:We've done Pride in the Sky on the 4th
of July with Prosper around the 4th of
62
:July with Prosper for the past two years.
63
:Three years.
64
:Two years.
65
:Two years.
66
:Two years now.
67
:Yeah.
68
:This will be our third year this year.
69
:And it's always felt a little
bit of a disconnect 'cause
70
:we're this church in Frisco?
71
:Yeah.
72
:That's doing an event up in Prosper.
73
:But we tried to get in the Frisco, 4th
of July one, and it was, they're like
74
:no cost prohibitive and just massive.
75
:Don't like this, guys
don't want you to do it.
76
:So this is great because we're gonna be
able to be there this year and connect
77
:people to a church that's in prosper.
78
:That's right.
79
:And so it's just an answer to prayer.
80
:It's gonna be awesome.
81
:And we can't wait to make this
transition, make this move.
82
:We just think it's gonna be
good for our church body.
83
:Yeah.
84
:I tell people that are moving all
the time before you move, make sure
85
:you're researching a good church.
86
:Yeah.
87
:A lot of people think that you can
just go anywhere, throw a dart at
88
:a map, and then wherever your DART
lands, you're gonna find a really good
89
:Bible teaching church in that place.
90
:And that's just not true.
91
:Not anymore.
92
:There's not good churches
everywhere you go.
93
:Yeah.
94
:Which means then at minimum, you should
think long and hard about where you move
95
:in relation to a good local Bible teaching
God-fearing gospel preaching church.
96
:And if that's you if you found
yourself a good Bible teaching church,
97
:man, don't take that for granted.
98
:They're just not everywhere.
99
:And secondly, a good Bible teaching
church is worth moving forward.
100
:I'm gonna, I'm gonna put my money
down and say that loud and proud.
101
:A good Bible teaching church is worth.
102
:Moving for.
103
:Yep.
104
:And there's a couple in our area.
105
:We're not the only guys in town.
106
:We're not the only shop doing this, but
man, if you find a good church a church
107
:that you love, a church that loves you,
they teach the Bible, they're faithful,
108
:man, that's worth investing your family
into, even if that means a temporary,
109
:smaller house or a temporary cut and pay.
110
:It's worth it.
111
:Yeah.
112
:It's gonna pay itself off in dividends.
113
:Yeah.
114
:We have one family in our church.
115
:I won't put them on blast on the
podcast that, that made that decision.
116
:They actually moved from outta state
here because they found us online.
117
:They were coming out of another church
background, church denomination that was
118
:not as, as faithful to the word and they.
119
:Started listening to us and we're
like, man we need a solid bible church.
120
:And so they moved here to be a
part of what, what's going on with
121
:our church and that's awesome.
122
:And that, that doesn't compute even
when we tell people about our church
123
:plant and they're, they ask, but
there's a thousand churches here.
124
:That, and or they'll say, so did
you start in your living room?
125
:It's no, we didn't have to.
126
:We came with 75 people from California.
127
:Yeah.
128
:And they're going, wait a minute.
129
:They sold their house.
130
:They moved from California out here.
131
:Yep.
132
:And it's, yeah they're behind what we're
doing, reaching, teaching, training.
133
:They're behind trying to do all this.
134
:Where's Mark going with all that trash?
135
:I don't know.
136
:He is walked by the office
with all of this cardboard.
137
:He's that cardboard and
Amazon plastic bags.
138
:He just looks like a hobo.
139
:I think he's camping outside.
140
:He might be.
141
:Anyways.
142
:Yeah, so find a good church.
143
:Hopefully if you're part of
our church you check the box.
144
:You're done on that one.
145
:You're done.
146
:You can stay here and and
be a part of this, but yeah.
147
:Yeah.
148
:Don't assume they're everywhere.
149
:No.
150
:Good church.
151
:Not plentiful.
152
:Nope.
153
:Nope.
154
:Let's jump into our scripture
reading for the day.
155
:We have just come off of the heels
of a downer passage with David and
156
:Bathsheba in the fall of David in
the fallout from David and Bathsheba.
157
:And so now we're gonna turn to the Psalms.
158
:A lot of them that were reading,
probably written around the same time.
159
:In fact, we know for sure at least
one of them was written right
160
:on the heels of this sin with
Bathsheba and Nathan confrontation.
161
:But first we start in Psalm 32, and
the reason why these are here is
162
:because of the themes of forgiveness.
163
:And mercy.
164
:And so David would've been very
keenly aware of his need for, and
165
:just appreciative of God's mercy in
the wake of his sin and the wake of
166
:the confrontation with with Nathan.
167
:And so Psalm 32, we get
the Psalm of repentance.
168
:Repentance is a word we throw around a
lot, but it's really a an about face.
169
:It's what the word meant in
the Greek la language metanoia.
170
:It was to do an about face.
171
:It was the command given to the army.
172
:They're marching in one direction.
173
:They needed to go the other direction.
174
:They were to repent in that.
175
:And so that, that's what it is to
repent from sin, is to be moving
176
:towards our sin and to do an about
faced, to turn our backs on our sin.
177
:I the Bible will use the metaphor.
178
:I think it does a couple
of times of negatively.
179
:Casting God's word behind the
back, and they'll talk about that
180
:in the sense of this is an act of
disobedience from the people of God.
181
:Repentance is taking our sin
and casting our sin behind our
182
:back saying, you know what?
183
:I'm not gonna go after this anymore.
184
:I'm gonna be done with it.
185
:Two Corinthians seven.
186
:Paul describes a godly repentance
and so this is David's prayer
187
:of repentance here, and he is.
188
:Describing initially the weight of sin,
the burden of unconfessed sin, and then
189
:the blessing that came when he brought
a sin into the light when he, verse
190
:five, acknowledged his sin to the Lord,
didn't cover his iniquity anymore, and
191
:sought forgiveness from the Lord and the
joy that was even given to him in that.
192
:And so this is a psalm about repentance
and confession, but it also carries
193
:these notes of joy and happiness
all the way through to the final
194
:verse, this relief that comes with
true repentance and forgiveness.
195
:Yeah.
196
:And this is something that a
Christian starts but never finishes.
197
:There is an initial confession
and repentance to access our faith
198
:for the first time, or at least
to apply our faith for the first
199
:time as we put our trust in Christ.
200
:But this is the life of the Christian.
201
:Confession and repentance is not something
that we do only to become a Christian.
202
:This is what it looks
like to live every day.
203
:As a Christian, this is what
it means to be in Christ.
204
:Now it is not hypocritical
for Christians to sin.
205
:It is hypocritical for us not to
confess our sin and to repent of it.
206
:And therefore, David's confession
here and his repentance in
207
:Psalm 32 is really good for you.
208
:Now, maybe something worth putting down
into your prayer journal as a means to
209
:prompt the kind of response that you
want from your heart on an ongoing basis.
210
:Notice though in verse three, how
taxing it is to hide your sin.
211
:He says, when I kept silent, my bones
were wasted away through my groaning
212
:all day long for day and night.
213
:Your hand was heavy upon me.
214
:My strength was dried up
as by the heat of summer.
215
:Man, I know about that verse more
than I ever have in my whole life.
216
:When I go outside and it's 115 degree
day in North Texas, I feel like I'm
217
:going to die after five minutes.
218
:It's just so oppressive.
219
:I feel like the heat of summer,
just like a hand just squashing
220
:me from above the heat of summer.
221
:Awful.
222
:David says that's what it feels
like to hide your sin from God,
223
:even though you're not hiding.
224
:It truly, God sees it all.
225
:He knows it all.
226
:When we have unconfessed sin, there is a.
227
:Physical a physical weariness
that comes because of that.
228
:So I would encourage you to do what
David does make it a practice to
229
:say, man I want to be right with you.
230
:I want my transgression forgiven.
231
:I want my sin covered.
232
:And more than David did, we have a
better understanding of what this is
233
:because of Jesus taking our sin for us.
234
:Yeah, it's a grace of God.
235
:That burden that you feel shame,
conviction, guilt is a, it's a
236
:grace of God that he gives us the
ability to feel those things when we
237
:sin, because that's indicative of.
238
:Indicative of the fact that
we've done something wrong.
239
:And even when an unbeliever feels
guilt, it is the natural law of
240
:God written upon their heart.
241
:It is that idea that they have wronged,
they have crossed a line, they've
242
:done something that is morally wrong.
243
:And this is one of the arguments
for the existence of God the moral
244
:argument that is that how do they
know what is right and what is wrong?
245
:If God doesn't exist, it's all arbitrary.
246
:It is all subjective.
247
:If God doesn't exist, the fact that God
does exist and the fact that they do feel
248
:guilt when they sin, even an unbeliever
is evidence for the existence of God.
249
:But as Christians, we know we can
appreciate that guilt and that
250
:shame and that conviction even
more because it's a grace that God.
251
:Provides for us through the spirit.
252
:And the danger is, I think, as we
talked about even in our last episode
253
:if you ignore that for too long if you
desensitize your heart to the conviction
254
:of the spirit in regards to that, then
God could turn you over to that sin.
255
:Don't want that, and you
don't want that at all.
256
:That is, is certainly something
that we want to avoid.
257
:What he says in verse six, offer a prayer.
258
:To you at a time when you may be found.
259
:There is a time when you can so harden
your heart that he may not be found.
260
:Which is terrifying.
261
:Which is absolutely terrifying.
262
:And I think that kind of fear is a
God-fearing a good fear that God puts it
263
:within us so that we might draw near him.
264
:Yeah.
265
:Yeah.
266
:Psalm 51, then as we move along here, this
is the one that we know for sure because
267
:it says right there in the title a Psalm
of David when Nathan, the prophet, went
268
:to him after he had gone into Bathsheba.
269
:So this is.
270
:We are wondering to ourselves,
okay what is David thinking?
271
:After his confrontation with Nathan,
he's thinking this, and he puts pen
272
:to paper, quill to papyrus, chisel to
stone, whatever he had at the time.
273
:And he crafted this song
of sorrow and repent.
274
:It's a lot of similar themes to Psalm 32.
275
:But this Psalm pleads over and
over again for cleansing that,
276
:that, that's the common theme here,
the common word that David uses.
277
:He feels the dirtiness of his sin.
278
:And asks that God would cleanse
him, that God would purge
279
:him that God would wash him.
280
:And it begins with this plea
for God's mercy towards David.
281
:And again, mercy, like we
talked about on Sunday, mercy
282
:is not getting what we deserve.
283
:We deserve to be the
burn mark on the ground.
284
:And mercy is something that we
need not just at the moment of
285
:salvation, but for our whole life.
286
:We always need God's mercy in our life.
287
:Like you were talking about
with repentance and mercy is.
288
:An element of repentance.
289
:The fact that we can repent is
a mercy of God, that he doesn't
290
:just wipe us out right away.
291
:And so here David is pleading for
mercy and connecting that mercy
292
:with the idea of being cleansed.
293
:Which is something that's, so I think
it it's something that we understand as
294
:human beings that we, everybody loves
to go from being dirty to being clean.
295
:You go outside.
296
:Absolutely.
297
:Yeah.
298
:You sweat, like you're talking about
being out in the h the hot summer
299
:heat and everything else like that.
300
:Yeah.
301
:You just, and you come back
home and you take a shower.
302
:You just feel.
303
:So much better.
304
:Feel brand new.
305
:You feel fresh, brand new you feel
like you can be around people.
306
:That's there's a spiritual
cleansing that we can find in
307
:Christ when we repent from our sins.
308
:That is the imagery that's brought
forth in, in Psalm 51 here.
309
:Oh, precious is the flow
that makes me wide AST snow.
310
:Yeah, that's the one right here.
311
:I.
312
:I love it.
313
:Yeah.
314
:Psalm, do you want to, I think we've
hit this before, but just so that
315
:we're aware here, David prays something
that, that is a believer is probably
316
:not something that we should pray.
317
:In fact, I would say it's not
something that we should pray.
318
:And that is when he prays that God
would not remove his spirit from him.
319
:That is not something that
is a believer is possible.
320
:Verse 11, cast me not away from your
presence and take not your spirit from me.
321
:When we think about.
322
:Our standing before the Lord in
Paul says in Ephesians one, we've
323
:been sealed with the Holy Spirit
as a guarantee of our inheritance.
324
:As a believer, our relationship
with the Spirit is different than
325
:David's relationship with the Spirit.
326
:So the spirit could be removed
as it was from Saul, but not from
327
:a New Testament era believer.
328
:You and I have a different relationship
with the spirit of God, so that.
329
:When we see this we shouldn't
pray like David does here.
330
:Take not your Holy Spirit from me,
and God's never gonna take his Holy
331
:Spirit from you if you're a believer.
332
:The spirit is the seal, the guarantee
of your inheritance for the future.
333
:So that's the one caveat here in
Psalm 51 that said maybe don't
334
:echo that prayer specifically.
335
:Yeah.
336
:And just to be clear for the reason why
he remembered that what was going on in
337
:this period of time, the spirit wasn't
in dwelling believers like he does today.
338
:Now, that's a blessing
of the new covenant.
339
:After Jesus ascended to the right
hand of the Father, he sends a spirit.
340
:They're they're baptized by
the Spirit in the Spirit.
341
:And now when someone becomes a
believer, Romans eight, you have
342
:the spirit of God dwelling within
you here at this period of time.
343
:Under the old covenant,
the spirit would transfer.
344
:And maybe that's a, a.
345
:That's not the best word, but
he would go from one person to
346
:another, specifically for a work.
347
:So you might think about Saul's
Saul forfeited his leadership over
348
:Israel and consequently, God's
spirits left him in one Samuel 16.
349
:It's a spirit enablement
for the work of something.
350
:Whereas in under the new Covenant,
the spirit indwells us because
351
:of our relationship to him
because of what the son has done.
352
:Psalm 86 we're actually gonna be
seeing a part of Psalm 86 on Sunday.
353
:Are we not?
354
:That's right.
355
:We are the the song is
Undivided, by the way.
356
:Don't forget, we send
out our weekly email.
357
:It goes out on Fridays,
but it's got our set list.
358
:I don't know.
359
:When do you update the Spotify set list?
360
:Usually?
361
:Usually Tuesdays.
362
:Tuesdays, sometimes as soon as Sunday.
363
:Yeah, if I'm feeling in the mood.
364
:So by Tuesdays you should be able
to get on the Compass Antix Worship
365
:Spotify playlist and see what we're
singing that weekend, and you can be
366
:singing it all week long in preparation.
367
:And so we'll be singing
Undivided, which is.
368
:Based on Psalm 86.
369
:Yeah let coming.
370
:That's a good practice.
371
:This is from David.
372
:We see that in the title here.
373
:And this one is a Psalm of commitment.
374
:David committing himself to the Lord,
asking that gal would instruct him, teach
375
:him to fear him to walk in all his ways.
376
:So we don't have the context in the
title, but again, if we think about where
377
:David's coming out of and we think about
what true repentance looks like, it makes
378
:sense that this would be a follow up.
379
:That David would come out of his sin,
out of being overcome by his lust, and
380
:then his coverup, and then his murder of
Uriah truly repent and then set himself
381
:here to say, God, I don't wanna be fully
committed to you, fully devoted to you.
382
:I wanna follow you with
an undivided heart.
383
:Teach me to your ways, oh Lord,
that I may walk in your truth,
384
:unite my heart to fear your name.
385
:This is Second Corinthians
seven, kind of repentance.
386
:This is that I wanna clear myself.
387
:I wanna have a, an eagerness.
388
:I wanna vindicate myself.
389
:I don't want this sin to
be around me ever again.
390
:And so here David is saying, rather than
following myself, rather than having a
391
:heart that's divided between my flesh
and you, Lord, I want you and you alone.
392
:And so he's committing
himself to that in Psalm 86.
393
:Something so good for us to pray
daily, honestly, just to say, God
394
:my default is not to follow you.
395
:My default is to have a divided
heart, not undivided heart.
396
:And so every single morning, every single
day, I wanna arise and I wanna pray.
397
:God, teach me your way.
398
:Then I may walk in your truth.
399
:Gimme a, an undivided heart to follow you.
400
:Yeah.
401
:This whole psalm is comprehensive
in that David is praying to God.
402
:There's a ton of
imperatives in this psalm.
403
:Psalm 86 is basically David
saying, please do this.
404
:And he's covering his whole life
with prayer from start to finish.
405
:Mourning to evening is saying, please.
406
:Do these things in me.
407
:I want to do them.
408
:I know I should do them.
409
:Help me do them Lord.
410
:Give ear, preserve me.
411
:Be gracious to me.
412
:Glad in my soul.
413
:Answer me.
414
:Teach me.
415
:Unite my heart.
416
:Turn to me.
417
:Be gracious to me.
418
:Save me.
419
:Show me.
420
:All these things.
421
:David is begging God to do the things
that he knows we're responsible to do.
422
:And yet an aware believer understands
God has to do it through me.
423
:I'm not even strong enough to make
myself will these things or to want
424
:these things, but ultimately, God's
the one who does it through us.
425
:Like the robot suit.
426
:Like the robot suit from Sunday.
427
:That illustration about The xl.
428
:Oh yeah.
429
:The robot.
430
:Yeah.
431
:That's cool man.
432
:Yeah, that's a good illustration.
433
:I figured you the cave too.
434
:Or that, not the key, the tunnel.
435
:Tunnel.
436
:That's the one I meant.
437
:The Riri Ilka.
438
:Yeah.
439
:When I put that, when I was like, I'm
gonna butcher that when I go to preach it.
440
:And I did, I butchered it.
441
:Did you?
442
:The pronunciation of the word.
443
:Oh, okay.
444
:I did look up on Google,
how to pronounce it.
445
:Did you practice?
446
:It's Riri, Ilka, RKA.
447
:But then I'm sure the Norwegians
say it in a much more Norwegian way.
448
:Yeah.
449
:Psalm 1 22.
450
:Song of a Sense.
451
:And so you gonna sniff the microphone
again, like there it is of David.
452
:And and this one is interesting
'cause it's all about Jerusalem.
453
:And so it's as they're going up to worship
the Lord in Jerusalem, they're going to
454
:be praying for Jerusalem, they're gonna
be praying for the safety of Jerusalem.
455
:They're gonna be.
456
:Praising the quality of Jerusalem.
457
:And it's not just because Jerusalem's
so great, but because this is where
458
:the Lord chose to make his named dwell
and his presence once the temple gets
459
:built, especially in Solomon's era.
460
:But here, David's even anticipating that
beforehand, that the the tent with the
461
:Ark of the Covenant had been moved there.
462
:And so they're praying for that.
463
:The line there, verse six, pray
for the peace of Jerusalem pr.
464
:Is that something that we should be doing?
465
:Should we be praying for
the peace of Jerusalem?
466
:I do.
467
:And that's because I'm a
good dispensationalist.
468
:I think God's not done with Jerusalem yet.
469
:So we do pray for those guys.
470
:In fact, you'll see a pretty
clear dividing line between people
471
:that do believe what we believe.
472
:There's not a ton of us, there's not
a ton of dispensationalist online,
473
:especially on Twitter or X rather.
474
:But I do, and granted, I.
475
:I don't know that this is the best
text to say, this is why I do it.
476
:But the principle of praying for Jerusalem
and her peace is something that I do.
477
:And because ultimately I want God to
do a great thing for himself and his
478
:glory and his honor by protecting
her, preserving her, and ultimately
479
:drawing people back to himself who are
part of Israel, ethnic Israel that God
480
:promises someday will, they will return.
481
:So let's talk about that
for a second, because the.
482
:There's in, and it's a hideous sect within
the, I use this term very loosely with
483
:scare quotes, Christianity that's falling
back almost into a, a nazim anti-Semitic.
484
:Yeah, totally anti-Semitic.
485
:And they're trying to say, look,
as Christians, we should have no
486
:affection for the Jews because
they don't worship our God.
487
:Our God is a Trinitarian God.
488
:They reject Jesus.
489
:And so thereby they don't worship the
same God that we do, they crucify Jesus.
490
:And so we should have
no affection for them.
491
:We should not be supporting them.
492
:We should not be defending them.
493
:And they've even carried that
over into a racism against them.
494
:And so as Christians.
495
:How do we think about that?
496
:Even if we're not dispensationalist?
497
:I mean that we wouldn't say
that about anybody, right?
498
:We wouldn't look at the Muslims and
be like we wanna wipe them off the
499
:face of the earth because they don't
worship the same God that we do.
500
:Our hearts should be broken for
them evangelistically, and we should
501
:want to reach them with the gospel.
502
:And I think even with the Jewish people
today, we should have the same approach.
503
:We should say, man we want them
to repent and believe in Jesus.
504
:We sure do.
505
:And one day we think they will by,
by large numbers in the future.
506
:But if you've been seeing any of
these posts about the antisemitism
507
:and you've even been lured by some
of it, just know that this is, it's
508
:insidious, it's anti-God, it's anti
god's people, it's anti-biblical.
509
:It's not something for us to
engage in as believers at all.
510
:Yeah.
511
:You gotta be careful out there.
512
:There's so many ways that we can go
awry today, and especially because
513
:people can make it sound so attractive
and intelligent and biblical even.
514
:One of the challenges today especially
is that we have so much knowledge.
515
:That wisdom is really the thing that
we're most urgently in need of right now.
516
:Now, wisdom in that it takes more than
knowledge to make your case, but the
517
:wisdom is, okay, what does it mean?
518
:How do I apply it?
519
:And how do I respond to some
of these charges online?
520
:Because these guys can come across
sounding so oh, they're clearly biblical.
521
:These guys know their bible.
522
:Who's really good with this
Bible in the worst way possible.
523
:Steven Anderson.
524
:Yeah.
525
:He's, he's got a lot of it memorized.
526
:That's compelling.
527
:Even as someone who knows his shtick
and understands some of the dangers
528
:behind what he teaches, like the
guy knows his Bible and he's got
529
:this great YouTube video even that
I watched about how to memorize your
530
:Bible more effectively and it's.
531
:Interesting insights, but it takes a
lot more wisdom on your part today to
532
:discern the true from the almost true,
the good, from the better, from the best,
533
:and perhaps the best way for you to do
that is to become a student of the word,
534
:to master it and have it master you.
535
:And to sit under wise teachers who
can help you discern and even practice
536
:discernment through your everyday life.
537
:Guys like this they're gaining
popularity, they're gaining notoriety,
538
:they're gaining a following because
of how easy it is to access.
539
:I'm gonna say information, not knowledge,
because knowledge assumes that it's true.
540
:How easy it is to access information.
541
:Please, Christian, be on your lookout,
be on your guard, know your Bible, follow
542
:wise teachers, and prepare yourself
to defend yourself against these guys.
543
:Yeah, in fact, shameless
plug we are finishing up the
544
:gospel of John this Sunday.
545
:And then after that for the summer,
we're gonna go through the minor
546
:prophets, and we're gonna be talking
a lot about God's plan for Israel.
547
:Because the minor profits
have a lot to say about that.
548
:And this is gonna come through a lot
of that during our summer series.
549
:Hopefully it's gonna look different.
550
:We're covering a book
a week, a couple weeks.
551
:I think we're covering two books even.
552
:Oh, bold.
553
:So it's a lot to bite off, but Sure.
554
:It is, man.
555
:It's, we just wanna be a little bit more
familiar with them on the back end of
556
:the series than we are at the front end.
557
:Hey, let's pray and then we'll
be done with this episode.
558
:God, we want to be people that know the
word we were just talking about knowledge.
559
:We want to be people of the book.
560
:We wanted that moniker to be true
of us, and we want to have a deep
561
:knowledge and understanding of the
scriptures and not just stop there,
562
:but to apply ourselves to think about.
563
:Theology and to think about the character
of who you are and to think about how
564
:all of these things apply to our lives.
565
:And there's the difference that
Pastor Rod was just talking
566
:about of knowledge versus wisdom.
567
:Knowledge is an end in and of itself.
568
:Wisdom is knowledge applied and so
God help us to be a wise church, a
569
:wise people that are able to see.
570
:Error and to identify it quickly and to
know what the truth is in response to it.
571
:And to protect ourselves, to
protect our families, to protect
572
:our church, to protect this
flock from any error creeping in.
573
:I'm reminded of Jude talking about
the false teachers creeping in and
574
:being like reefs in their love feast.
575
:It's a danger, and it's something
that we pray against for our church,
576
:that we would have a church that
is well guarded and well protected
577
:and well rooted in the word of God.
578
:So we ask that would be true, and that
this podcast would be a help in that.
579
:We prayed.
580
:In Jesus' name, amen.
581
:Amen.
582
:Keep in your Bibles.
