The Albert Medal was one of Britain’s highest awards for bravery. Created in 1866 and named after Prince Albert, it recognised extraordinary acts of courage, particularly saving lives when no military action was involved. It was awarded for bravery both at sea and on land, but was rarely given, making it a very special honour.
