You Don’t Need More Speaking Opportunities. You Need a Better Way to Get Booked.
If your strategy is simply to post more, polish your reel, collect a few testimonials, or wait for someone to discover you..
You may be spending a lot of time creating visibility without creating Bookability.
I say that from the speaker booking side of the business.
Not because they aren’t qualified.
Not because they don’t have something valuable to say.
But because a potential buyer often can’t quickly answer three basic questions:
Who are you?
What do you speak about?
Why should we trust you with our audience?
And if those answers aren’t clear, the buyer has to work too hard to figure you out.
That’s where the game changes.
The goal isn’t simply to become louder online.
It’s to become more findable, more credible, and easier to hire.
CEO of WPC Speakers Global, Antoniette Roze, joins Cate Stillman, Founder & CEO of Club Thrive Global as a guest on the Wellness Pro Academy Podcast to share deep expertise, strong stories, and valuable ideas to turn that expertise into speaking and corporate training opportunities.
Here’s the better way:
Build a clear, marketable message.
Your expertise may cover ten different subjects, but your buyer needs to understand your core value quickly. If your talk could describe 20 different speakers, it becomes much harder for someone to remember what makes you the right fit.
Make your expertise searchable.
Your LinkedIn profile, website, social content, interviews, podcasts, speaker page, and marketing materials should tell a connected story. When someone searches your name or your area of expertise, they should find evidence that reinforces the same positioning.
Create proof around your expertise.
Being an expert and being perceived as a safe choice are two different things. Testimonials, recognizable logos, previous speaking engagements, interviews, client results, media appearances, and strong content give buyers more reasons to believe you can deliver.
Stop treating free opportunities as the finish line.
A podcast, webinar, free talk, guest interview, or community presentation doesn’t have to be valuable because it pays you immediately. It can create relationships, visibility, credibility, content, referrals, and future conversations—if you know how to leverage the opportunity.
Think like a business, not just a speaker.
Speaking is more than getting on a stage and delivering a great presentation. There is positioning, marketing, prospecting, relationship-building, follow-up, sales, content, and client experience happening behind the scenes.
That entire ecosystem matters.
And here’s the myth I want more experts to let go of:
You don’t need one magical opportunity to change your speaking career.
The TEDx stage.
The big conference.
The famous podcast.
The agent.
The viral post.
None of these should be your entire strategy.
You need to build an ecosystem that continuously makes you easier to discover, easier to understand, easier to trust, and easier to book.
Because the better question isn’t:
“How do I get lucky enough to get booked?”
It’s:
“How do I position myself so that when the right buyer is looking for someone like me, they can quickly see the fit?”
That requires more than talent.
It takes clarity, consistency, credibility, relationships, persistence, and tenacity.
And most importantly, it takes building a speaking business that doesn’t depend on someone randomly discovering you.
Get yourself very findable and not a gamble.
Don’t wait to be discovered. Get findable. Get credible. Get booked.
Tune in now and learn how to turn your expertise, visibility, and credibility into a speaking strategy that gets you in front of the right buyers.
