Shownotes

Good Friday is a day of remembrance for the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Despite the sorrow of betrayal, death, and blood that occurred, it is called Good Friday because of the good that was accomplished through Jesus' death. Charlotte is filling in for Lisa, who is unwell, to talk about Good Friday and why it is called good. Charlotte explains that Good Friday began in Genesis, when Adam and Eve chose to believe the serpent instead of God, thus allowing the seed of unbelief to be planted in their hearts. Despite their mistake, Jesus' death was able to redeem humanity and give us hope for a better future.

The conversation focuses on the idea of Good Friday, and how it is a rescue story from God for humanity. The wages of sin is death, so Jesus came and unveiled his light and his deity and did not sin, and died a death he did not deserve. This was when Jesus crushed the head of the serpent, and took away death's power. Through Jesus' sacrifice and grace, we can participate in the blessed exchange where Jesus takes our sin and we take his righteousness. Jesus and the Father both understand deep pain and grief, as they were separated when they had never been separated in all eternity. Through his sacrifice, we can now celebrate and remember and honor his sacrifice for us.

This Good Friday podcast explores the topic of the cross and its representation of brokenness made beautiful. Jesus understands betrayal, rejection, and poverty and can relate to any hardship we walk through. The challenge is to dig deeper into our relationship with Christ and to get into God's Word every day. The conversation ends with a reading from an author to encourage viewers to trust in God's ways and to embrace the darkness knowing that He will make it beautiful. This Easter, invite friends to join the conversation by subscribing and following Faith with Friends on Instagram.

"Good Friday Reflection: Celebrating Easter with Jesus"

Highlights

Only the Cross says that what feels like darkness at noon moments can be part of destroying all the dark. Only the cross says, what looks wrecked can resurrect. Only the cross says that there is a way through, but it won't look the way we thought. But in every one of his ways, he is working in countless other ways, trust all of his ways and that is why we call it Good Friday. May you know Him anew and bring Him all your brokenness and he will make it beautiful.

Jesus understands betrayal, rejection, poverty. There is nothing that we can walk through that Jesus has not experienced. He is our Great High Priest and because he broke his body for us, we can come boldly before the throne of grace. The cross represents brokenness made beautiful. So I would like to challenge you this Good Friday to dig deeper into your relationship with Christ, to dig deeper into who he is and what he did for you and who you are in his creation.

Serpent instead of God. When they allowed the serpent to put the seed of unbelief in their hearts, and they believed the lie that he sold them, they went against what God had told them to do. And in Genesis 315, god prophesies that Jesus will come and crush the head of the serpent. You see, the whole Bible is a rescue story pointing to Good Friday. It's God's rescue story for us because he didn't want to leave us in sin.
