The Trials of Perfection – Daily Wisdom

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. Proverbs 16:16 How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!  We are on Day 1674 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:

Today’s quote is from a Chinese Proverb, and it is: A diamond cannot be polished without friction, nor the man perfected without trials.

The Trials Of Perfection

Did you ever have a rock tumbler when you were younger? At some point in our family, I know we had at least one. It was neat to put the rough, sharp, and dirty stones into the tumbler, which also contained water and sand. It would spin the tumbler when it was turned on, and it wasn't quiet when starting. Over the following hours, the noise level of the tumbling rocks would become less and less. The hardness of the original stones determined how long the process would take.  Even the hardest stone, like a diamond, will eventually be polished to a smooth and beautiful gemstone. Gems will not be produced if there is no sand and water causing friction.

So it is with our lives, our hard edges will only be made smooth with the friction of trials and difficulties which we face. No one likes to go through these trials, but they are required to become the gemstones in God’s kingdom. The more complex our character and personalities are, the more tests are necessary to make us pure. Instead of avoiding the trials, we must accept them and become fully immersed to learn quickly. Just like the stones in the rock tumbler, or gold in a fire, it should desire to come out as beautiful gems and pure gold.

1 Peter 1:6-7

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.’
