In today's episode, our guest is Melissa Del Toro Schaffner. She is an American Voice Actor and co-creator/producer/narrator of The Untold Tales Podcast - a short story sci-fi audio drama.
As a child, Melissa enjoyed making different voices, but she chose electrical engineering as a career. When her daughter was born, she refused to go back to her job as she didn't want to miss any key moments of her daughter's life. After taking a leap of faith, she started her voice acting business. She began doing audiobooks and turn, met a fantastic author, and together they collaborated to create an audio drama podcast -"The Untold Tales", a sci-fi short story podcast
In this episode, she shared how she uses her podcast to share her talent as a voice actor and other creative storytellers' stories. Podcasting has given her a space to show her creativity and not bound by any agency or person to dictate what she should instead be doing.
She puts so much effort into her podcast by choosing a great story, hiring a coach to help her play characters' accents, and selecting songs that go well with the story. With podcasting, she planned for the long game, giving herself at least a year to build an audience and a back catalogue of binge-listening. She is now on in season 3 of her podcast.

KEY INSIGHTS
- If you aren't enjoying the content creation process. Please don't do it. Don't feel like you have to be married to anything with content.
- A good leader helps build some level of consensus that works for everyone, which is extremely difficult and rarely happens.
- A good leader lets other people lead, contribute, and make decisions that are right for them.
- We see so much cynicism in people and kids just looking around for the example they have to become because nobody's stepping up, which is ridiculous. Why should our kids be the ones that do it? It's our responsibility.
