Mike Forrester:

Well, hello and welcome back my friend this week.

Mike Forrester:

I'm joined by Roman Fischer you're going to see the things that he's, he's gone

Mike Forrester:

through starting out, you know, kind of with those things that we all face

Mike Forrester:

and, uh, how he's worked through them.

Mike Forrester:

And it's a matter of learning who you are and what works for you.

Mike Forrester:

And so.

Mike Forrester:

As we get into Roman's story, I hope that you'll be able to

Mike Forrester:

see like, it's, it's a process.

Mike Forrester:

We're all working through it and to look for the tools and the processes

Mike Forrester:

that work well for you to then help you change into that life that you're after.

Mike Forrester:

So Roman, how are you doing today, my friend?

Roman Fischer:

I'm doing well, doing well.

Roman Fischer:

How about you?

Mike Forrester:

Doing great, my friend.

Mike Forrester:

I appreciate it.

Mike Forrester:

Well, Roman, let's start off on the professional side of life.

Mike Forrester:

What does that look like for you today?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah.

Roman Fischer:

So right now I'm an actor model.

Roman Fischer:

I also do some bodybuilding, but it's more so a hobby with the bodybuilding,

Roman Fischer:

but it's mainly acting modeling and high performance coaching.

Roman Fischer:

So helping people burn fat, gain muscle, gain flexibility and really

Roman Fischer:

just improve their overall mindset with their motivation and consistency.

Mike Forrester:

Awesome.

Mike Forrester:

Do you see that like, um, through the flexibility and the working

Mike Forrester:

out like that helps people to.

Mike Forrester:

You know, add almost like, uh, fuel to their mindset or is it.

Mike Forrester:

Kind of just something separate from it.

Roman Fischer:

That's a good question.

Roman Fischer:

So really I found it's really interesting They both tend to complement each other

Roman Fischer:

So when someone works on their fitness with their physical it actually helps

Roman Fischer:

their mindset, but when they work on their mindset Alternatively it can

Roman Fischer:

actually help their physical and I found too that your mindset It's so powerful

Roman Fischer:

and it really governs everything to begin with so getting your mindset

Roman Fischer:

set right, I found is one of the best things you can do Especially if you're

Roman Fischer:

trying to achieve any one fitness goal,

Mike Forrester:

I think it, it impacts all areas of our life,

Mike Forrester:

which is the amazing thing.

Mike Forrester:

It's not just, Hey, Roman, I want to change my, my career.

Mike Forrester:

I want to do this, but I don't want it to affect my family life.

Mike Forrester:

It's impacting you, which is universal, right?

Mike Forrester:

So definitely.

Mike Forrester:

Well, dude, speaking of personal, what does life look like for you

Mike Forrester:

today on the personal side of things?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, so outside of, you know, fitness, acting,

Roman Fischer:

and modeling, I love to travel.

Roman Fischer:

So I've actually just been to, this was one, uh, actually one of my top

Roman Fischer:

travel destinations, but I went to Japan about four months ago now.

Roman Fischer:

So it was in March.

Roman Fischer:

So April, May, June.

Roman Fischer:

Yeah.

Roman Fischer:

Four months ago I was in Japan.

Roman Fischer:

So I saw Tokyo, that was my top travel destination.

Roman Fischer:

So seeing Japan, seeing Tokyo, Osaka, and also Kyoto with the Nintendo headquarters.

Roman Fischer:

So I'm a huge video game guy too, outside of fitness.

Roman Fischer:

Sounds kind of contradictory, but I do like video games every now and then.

Roman Fischer:

So that's one thing I do a lot is travel.

Roman Fischer:

I also do some photography as a hobby outside of fitness.

Roman Fischer:

Acting and modeling.

Mike Forrester:

So when you talk about doing the photography and

Mike Forrester:

going to Japan, were you there for the cherry blossoms or were

Roman Fischer:

yes, just like right during the blooming.

Roman Fischer:

I'm like, yes, made it.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

And that's always like a gamble because it's like, okay, it's almost like,

Mike Forrester:

you know, fall festivals and stuff.

Mike Forrester:

It's one of those it's.

Mike Forrester:

In this range, but, and you're crossing your fingers.

Mike Forrester:

So that's awesome that you got to see it and, and, uh, do all the

Mike Forrester:

traveling and take the photos, man.

Mike Forrester:

That's awesome.

Roman Fischer:

Oh yeah, it was definitely my favorite trip so far

Roman Fischer:

and probably will be, or at least for a while, so I, I'm so glad I went.

Mike Forrester:

Uh, it sounds amazing, man.

Mike Forrester:

Well, let's, let's jump back to, um, you know, you were 15, your younger

Mike Forrester:

brother was starting to work out, um, that set a passion for you going

Mike Forrester:

forward in life and some actions you took, what were some of the challenges

Mike Forrester:

you were facing during that time?

Mike Forrester:

And then.

Mike Forrester:

How did working out, you know, impact?

Mike Forrester:

Like we talked about your mindset just a short bit ago.

Mike Forrester:

How did that help to strengthen you?

Mike Forrester:

Um, moving forward from there?

Roman Fischer:

So when I was 15, I was really at a weird place in my life.

Roman Fischer:

You know, I was just barely a teenager, just two years into being a teen.

Roman Fischer:

And so I felt very self conscious.

Roman Fischer:

A lot of people tend to around that time, but I felt very self conscious.

Roman Fischer:

I didn't feel.

Roman Fischer:

that I was enough.

Roman Fischer:

I had a lot of people that would bully me that that would

Roman Fischer:

say I wasn't, you know, strong.

Roman Fischer:

I wasn't, I didn't have any muscle.

Roman Fischer:

I was a toothpick, things of that nature.

Roman Fischer:

I also just didn't feel a lot of support from certain people in my

Roman Fischer:

family on the goals that I wanted to do, the goals that I wanted to achieve.

Roman Fischer:

So that made it really, really tough, you know, mentally, very tough emotionally.

Roman Fischer:

So that made it very hard to keep going and actually stay positive

Roman Fischer:

and stay happy with myself and just my, really, my overall life too.

Roman Fischer:

So, what really did help save me and really just did a 180 for

Roman Fischer:

myself was getting into fitness.

Roman Fischer:

Now, that's not something I got into right away, but seeing my younger

Roman Fischer:

brother, Actually get into fitness and funny enough, he actually got into

Roman Fischer:

fitness himself because he saw the Rocky movies and that actually inspired

Roman Fischer:

him to actually start picking up the weights, start weightlifting and making

Roman Fischer:

that change, making that transformation for his body and his physique.

Roman Fischer:

And so we were both very skinny growing up, but seeing my brother

Roman Fischer:

make those changes to his body and his physique, that definitely inspired

Roman Fischer:

me to want to do the same thing.

Roman Fischer:

Yeah.

Roman Fischer:

And so over the course of a few months, I mean, instantly, I felt the difference

Roman Fischer:

right away with just my overall, you know, motivation and endorphins and

Roman Fischer:

my mood increased almost overnight.

Roman Fischer:

But I'll say this.

Roman Fischer:

I didn't see the results right away.

Roman Fischer:

And like, you know, most things in fitness, it takes time.

Roman Fischer:

It takes a lot of time to actually see any, you know, real true results.

Roman Fischer:

But over the course of even just a month, I started seeing things in

Roman Fischer:

the mirror that I didn't see before.

Roman Fischer:

I saw more definition.

Roman Fischer:

I saw just more definition in my stomach.

Roman Fischer:

I started seeing some abs come in already, which was one of

Roman Fischer:

my main goals at that time.

Roman Fischer:

But then I also started seeing more muscle.

Roman Fischer:

More strength on my body to you, especially around my biceps.

Roman Fischer:

And that was another huge goal line as well.

Roman Fischer:

So seeing those differences and those changes that really pumped me

Roman Fischer:

up and it wanted really just maybe want to keep going and keep pushing

Roman Fischer:

towards my goal and not give up.

Roman Fischer:

And from there, I started feeling more confident.

Roman Fischer:

Just more confident, more certain, and just overall just a lot

Roman Fischer:

healthier and a lot more energetic.

Roman Fischer:

So from there I felt like even with people not always supporting me,

Roman Fischer:

I can still attack and achieve any goal that I really set my mind to.

Roman Fischer:

I just got to be consistent and just see it through.

Mike Forrester:

You're talking about like the endorphins and seeing the

Mike Forrester:

definition and that giving you from what I'm hearing, giving you confidence and

Mike Forrester:

almost additional motivation to even press harder into the goals that you were

Mike Forrester:

wanting that family wasn't supporting.

Roman Fischer:

Definitely.

Mike Forrester:

Did you then find like additional energy and focus

Mike Forrester:

to pursue those goals that you had that weren't being supported?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, for sure.

Roman Fischer:

So even in the midst of not really having that support within my

Roman Fischer:

family base, which, you know, admittedly made it very difficult.

Roman Fischer:

But even with that being the case, and with that being said, doing these workouts

Roman Fischer:

and doing this exercising and having the discipline and the consistency to

Roman Fischer:

actually work out, show up to the gym, sometimes even just work out at home,

Roman Fischer:

but just show up to each workout with 100 percent focus, 100 percent intensity

Roman Fischer:

that actually translated pretty well into actually my goals with fitness.

Roman Fischer:

Um, Acting the modeling, which is what I actually started first

Roman Fischer:

before doing the fitness coaching.

Roman Fischer:

So that helped me just gravitate towards that.

Roman Fischer:

And really to seeing myself change more physically for the better.

Roman Fischer:

That got me into wanting to do more modeling.

Roman Fischer:

So I've always been told that, you know, I have the look for modeling,

Roman Fischer:

which has helped me want to get into the modeling industry to begin with.

Roman Fischer:

And But then when I started researching that, working out, lifting weights,

Roman Fischer:

it makes you look more confident.

Roman Fischer:

It makes you feel better and just look stronger, more fit.

Roman Fischer:

It can actually, you know, improve the booking ratio that you can have when

Roman Fischer:

you're trying to model and act both.

Roman Fischer:

So that helped quite a bit and that helped me just want to stay more

Roman Fischer:

consistent, not just with working out, but it actually really translated well

Roman Fischer:

into the fitness modeling, fitness modeling and acting specifically.

Mike Forrester:

As you're doing that, how do you see like your mindset is shifting

Mike Forrester:

and, and the beliefs that you have about yourself and what you can achieve?

Mike Forrester:

Like, how are things, um, changing and growing for you as a result of all that?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, what I've found that really changed was that

Roman Fischer:

I wasn't as limited as I thought.

Roman Fischer:

I was not as limited as I once thought I was.

Roman Fischer:

I used to think, especially with having a family, or not everyone in

Roman Fischer:

my family, but certain people in my family would say, I can't do this.

Roman Fischer:

Be more realistic.

Roman Fischer:

Think like this.

Roman Fischer:

Think like that.

Roman Fischer:

Don't dream too big.

Roman Fischer:

Don't have too big of a goal, or don't have too big of a

Roman Fischer:

destination for yourself.

Roman Fischer:

Cause you're going to just set yourself up for disappointment and failure.

Roman Fischer:

So I used to think like that, especially having that around, you

Roman Fischer:

know, just me a lot, having that around myself and my environment really

Roman Fischer:

took a toll on my emotional state and my confidence with everything.

Roman Fischer:

But as I started getting into the fitness more and then getting into

Roman Fischer:

acting and modeling, I started booking gigs and I was like, okay, so they're

Roman Fischer:

saying that they're saying that, but I'm actually seeing the proof of what.

Roman Fischer:

They were saying is not possible.

Roman Fischer:

So the fact that I'm now getting into this and I'm actually trying it out,

Roman Fischer:

not stressing myself out about it, expecting, you know, to get the million

Roman Fischer:

dollar gig right away, but really just having that mindset and focus that.

Roman Fischer:

Not everything, not everything is going to go smooth, but I can still

Roman Fischer:

achieve the goals I want to achieve.

Roman Fischer:

And the fact that I'm getting even the smallest of bookings, you know,

Roman Fischer:

happening, that's all that matters.

Roman Fischer:

That's all the proof I need.

Roman Fischer:

The fact that I'm at least putting in some effort.

Roman Fischer:

And I'm seeing some of the results from that effort.

Roman Fischer:

That's all the proof I need and the only proof I need.

Roman Fischer:

So that's what made it easy to then stay more consistent and not

Roman Fischer:

lose hope, not lose any confidence.

Roman Fischer:

Because there's a lot of people that listen to naysayers, but I just found in

Roman Fischer:

my personal life and my personal journey that You just got to be a naysayer to your

Roman Fischer:

naysayers, really, just to keep it simple.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah, exactly.

Mike Forrester:

So I know that this was something I, I did as well was when I started changing,

Mike Forrester:

was looking back at family that was saying, you know, Hey, be limited.

Mike Forrester:

Don't dream big.

Mike Forrester:

I didn't achieve this.

Mike Forrester:

So you won't either kind of thing.

Mike Forrester:

Um, I looked at him and said, I'm going to prove you wrong,

Mike Forrester:

and then you'll believe me.

Mike Forrester:

You'll really see and believe me.

Mike Forrester:

Um, did, did your success then change the mindset or the belief

Mike Forrester:

of the family and friends?

Mike Forrester:

To say like, Oh, yeah.

Mike Forrester:

Hey, dream bigger.

Mike Forrester:

Did, did it change them to, uh, you know, their behavior

Mike Forrester:

or what they were telling you?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, it was definitely similar to that.

Roman Fischer:

So it wasn't right away that they caught wind of it.

Roman Fischer:

But as I started hearing more and just more about what I was doing and the things

Roman Fischer:

that I were, you know, accomplishing just through the years, they then started.

Roman Fischer:

Having a change of, you know, mindset and just a change of heart, honestly,

Roman Fischer:

and they started feeling bad and he, the person that said this to

Roman Fischer:

my family, they even went as far as to say that, you know, I'm going to

Roman Fischer:

get on stage on the Oscars one day.

Roman Fischer:

And I'm going to say that my family didn't believe in me or this family

Roman Fischer:

member did not believe in me.

Roman Fischer:

So they just started feeling bad.

Roman Fischer:

And, you know, that's the thing when people have those Beliefs about certain

Roman Fischer:

people, especially your family, it's going to make you eventually feel guilty,

Roman Fischer:

especially when you start seeing the fruits of what they can and will do.

Roman Fischer:

So, yeah, I've, I've had that.

Roman Fischer:

I've had that for sure.

Mike Forrester:

Have you, have you had people that just stuck by their

Mike Forrester:

guns and said, I'm I've I'm not going to change what I say about you or

Mike Forrester:

believe about you, you know, because then it will make me have to change

Mike Forrester:

what I believe about what I can do.

Mike Forrester:

Have you seen that as well?

Roman Fischer:

Wow, that's a good one.

Roman Fischer:

I've never, I've never actually had that one yet.

Roman Fischer:

So.

Roman Fischer:

That's good that most people have been at least very supportive from the

Roman Fischer:

get go, or you've had a few of those people, even, you know, even in my

Roman Fischer:

family that weren't always supportive right away, but eventually grew that

Roman Fischer:

support, which I mean, sometimes you just gotta, you just gotta learn, right?

Roman Fischer:

So yeah.

Roman Fischer:

But it's good though that people at least do make that change.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah, 100%.

Mike Forrester:

So there was a, uh, period where you were working through

Mike Forrester:

like depression and anxiety.

Mike Forrester:

And then like you and I both talked about, we also have, uh, ADHD.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

So as you're working through that stuff, um, What, what was going on?

Mike Forrester:

Was that like, as you were working out or was that kind of at the

Mike Forrester:

beginning, like what phase of things was, was that going on?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah.

Roman Fischer:

The depression, the anxiety, and even ADHD, you know, altogether, really, I

Roman Fischer:

had that for a lot of my life and it was just growing up and it really happened.

Roman Fischer:

Up until the point of where I got into fitness and stuck with it.

Roman Fischer:

Ever since, you know, I have these occasional moments of depression, anxiety.

Roman Fischer:

I'm sure everyone does to an extent, even if it's just a little bit.

Roman Fischer:

So I still have it every once in a while, but I've been able

Roman Fischer:

to drastically diminish it.

Roman Fischer:

Practically where it is non existent for the most part.

Roman Fischer:

So it did lead up though, in my past, To about when I was 15, 15 and a half, 16.

Roman Fischer:

And then as I started getting more consistent from 15 on, it

Roman Fischer:

started going down and going down.

Roman Fischer:

And again, it's practically now where it just does not exist.

Roman Fischer:

I mean, every once in a while, like I said, there's, you know, that blue

Roman Fischer:

episode, so to speak, but it doesn't really happen that, you know, that often.

Roman Fischer:

And yeah, just.

Roman Fischer:

I've been able to really manage my anxiety well, even through natural

Roman Fischer:

supplements, such as ashwagandha, that's a great way, by the way, for

Roman Fischer:

anyone listening that wants to really just relieve and even reduce their

Roman Fischer:

stress, because stress and anxiety, it happens, it's just part of life, but

Roman Fischer:

the goal isn't to expect that there's not going to be any, but rather to help

Roman Fischer:

reduce it, and just really managing it.

Roman Fischer:

Eliminate as much as you can.

Roman Fischer:

So, uh, taking ashwagandha has been very helpful and CBD, CBN, especially

Roman Fischer:

for sleep, um, and insomnia.

Roman Fischer:

Cause that was actually another thing I dealt with.

Roman Fischer:

By extension and as part of my anxiety and stress and depression.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah, and lack of sleep man being exhausted Just yes,

Mike Forrester:

it compounds like the whole thing.

Mike Forrester:

It's just that setting gasoline on the fire.

Roman Fischer:

It is It really is

Mike Forrester:

Yeah, it's the last thing we need, but it's like, well, you're here.

Mike Forrester:

Great.

Mike Forrester:

Thanks.

Mike Forrester:

And

Roman Fischer:

they feed off of each other to a depression and anxiety feeds

Roman Fischer:

off of lack of sleep and insomnia.

Roman Fischer:

And that feeds off of that.

Roman Fischer:

So they literally help each other out in a bad way.

Roman Fischer:

But the key is, yeah, just reducing it, fitness, working out,

Roman Fischer:

taking ashwagandha, things like that will definitely help a lot.

Mike Forrester:

A hundred percent.

Mike Forrester:

Um, and then.

Mike Forrester:

Like there's a lot of stigma around taking meds, right?

Mike Forrester:

If we get on prescription medication, you know, I'm going to be on this for life.

Mike Forrester:

I'm not strong enough.

Mike Forrester:

And I think that's like

Mike Forrester:

bad mindset as far as, Hey, you know, if you broke your leg, You wouldn't not

Mike Forrester:

use the crutches or the wheelchair to get around because, you know, thinking,

Mike Forrester:

Hey, I'm going to be on this forever.

Mike Forrester:

It's a temporary boost to help you learn how to get, you know, uh,

Mike Forrester:

get your own mechanisms in place.

Mike Forrester:

And you found that through fitness is working with your doctor of,

Mike Forrester:

Hey, I'm going to, I'm on meds.

Mike Forrester:

This is to help me.

Mike Forrester:

Um, like how did, uh, Taking the meds and then doing the fitness.

Mike Forrester:

How did that kind of pair together to then under your doctor supervision

Mike Forrester:

be able to, you know, then get off the meds because you were in a better

Mike Forrester:

place or are in a better place?

Mike Forrester:

You know what I'm saying?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, for sure.

Roman Fischer:

So taking the meds had its own benefits in a way, of course, with a lot of

Roman Fischer:

Um, side effects at the expense of a lot of side effects in the process.

Roman Fischer:

So, but combining that with working out and eating healthier definitely was

Roman Fischer:

a good combination for the time being now, because of all the side effects

Roman Fischer:

and just the long term effects that you can have that are usually pretty

Roman Fischer:

negative and taking these medications.

Roman Fischer:

Luckily, I had that doc that actually wanted to work with me.

Roman Fischer:

To gradually reduce, you know, the dosage and then eventually

Roman Fischer:

just tapered me off completely.

Roman Fischer:

So having that support, that level of support from my doctor.

Roman Fischer:

They made it that really made it a lot easier to be more motivated to

Roman Fischer:

still take the medication because I was not already wanting to be on the

Roman Fischer:

medication, but because I didn't like all the side effects that came along

Roman Fischer:

with it, bloating, even weight gain.

Roman Fischer:

I mean, that was literally what I was trying to get

Roman Fischer:

away from was gaining weight.

Roman Fischer:

I was trying to not lose a lot of weight, but be toned, not be.

Roman Fischer:

Bloated.

Roman Fischer:

So having that weight gain and some other bad negative side effects that

Roman Fischer:

some I just can't even remember because there was, I mean, there were just

Roman Fischer:

too many to count, but literally just a lot of bad negative side effects

Roman Fischer:

that came along with the medication.

Roman Fischer:

So knowing though that my doc was in support of me with my own goal

Roman Fischer:

because I was already wanting to wean myself off and get off before

Roman Fischer:

he even said anything about it.

Roman Fischer:

But then when I found out from him that he was also in line

Roman Fischer:

with that, I felt so much better.

Roman Fischer:

So then I was able to continue the journey of working out, eating

Roman Fischer:

healthy, and then also, uh, limiting the, uh, dosage that I was having.

Roman Fischer:

And eventually just got off the medication.

Roman Fischer:

Cause it is my belief that eating healthier and working out That,

Roman Fischer:

you know, especially in combination and harmony, that actually helped

Roman Fischer:

me get off the medication because that was its own replacement.

Roman Fischer:

And I've been told by someone that I looked up to, he was a family

Roman Fischer:

friend, but food is medicine.

Roman Fischer:

And this was before I got really, really serious in my

Roman Fischer:

fitness, but food is medicine.

Roman Fischer:

So literally having the right food, foods without all the preservatives, all the,

Roman Fischer:

you know, artificial mess that's thrown into what we eat, what we drink on just a

Roman Fischer:

day to day, daily basis, you can literally clean up your inside to then help clean up

Roman Fischer:

your outside and also help clean up what's in here because a lot of the artificial

Roman Fischer:

colors that's in our foods, that's in our drinks It's actually been known, oddly

Roman Fischer:

enough, and ironically enough, to cause ADHD and other symptoms, even depression.

Roman Fischer:

So eating better, eating cleaner, and just eating healthier, and drinking healthier.

Roman Fischer:

Cause it's not just what you eat, but it's what you drink too.

Roman Fischer:

So cleaning up everything, and your overall nutrition, it's literally

Roman Fischer:

gonna be medicine in itself.

Roman Fischer:

And then working out, even just three to four times a week.

Roman Fischer:

Like, I've noticed, personally, that's helped me tremendously.

Roman Fischer:

In really just getting off the medications and ever since I've literally never

Roman Fischer:

felt, you know, I've never felt the same.

Roman Fischer:

I've felt so much better.

Roman Fischer:

I can sleep better.

Roman Fischer:

I'm more focused.

Roman Fischer:

The depression again, it's dramatically dropped.

Roman Fischer:

I barely ever get depressed and my anxiety is literally at an all time low.

Roman Fischer:

And any, you know, medications I have, I supplement it with natural supplements.

Roman Fischer:

So if I have even a little bit of anxiety, working out, taking supplements

Roman Fischer:

like CBD, CBN, ashwagandha, anything related to that really does help a lot.

Roman Fischer:

Even magnesium is good for lowering stress.

Roman Fischer:

So magnesium glycinate, especially if you're trying to get better

Roman Fischer:

sleep, just a little tip there.

Mike Forrester:

And there's more than one magnesium type.

Roman Fischer:

Oh yeah.

Mike Forrester:

I did.

Mike Forrester:

I didn't know that when I started down that path and it was like.

Mike Forrester:

Oh, yeah.

Mike Forrester:

It's like, yep.

Mike Forrester:

So yeah.

Mike Forrester:

Magnesium and like D three K two.

Mike Forrester:

I mean, there's, there's a lot of things that if we're not down that

Mike Forrester:

path, like you're talking about that ignorance of what we're deficient in

Mike Forrester:

can be almost like you're just carrying, like you're pulling a truck, right?

Mike Forrester:

You're in a strong man competition.

Mike Forrester:

You don't have what you need.

Mike Forrester:

So you're making everything harder.

Mike Forrester:

Um, mixed in with what you talked about, like, you know, artificial colors, man.

Mike Forrester:

I can't touch red, you know, if I, if I touch red, like Doritos or Cheetos or

Mike Forrester:

stuff like that, or, or a red drink, like, uh, not indeed code red, for example.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

Um, it just, it.

Mike Forrester:

It's like a Dr.

Mike Forrester:

Jekyll and Mr.

Mike Forrester:

Hyde thing for me where I, I transition in who I am and what I'm capable of doing.

Mike Forrester:

Um, and it's just like, nah, I don't feel like, uh, you know, walking around

Mike Forrester:

with my brain in a, in a fog all day.

Mike Forrester:

Um, it just amplifies it.

Mike Forrester:

And then there's stuff I'm working to get past because of, you know, upbringing,

Mike Forrester:

you know, malnourishment there.

Mike Forrester:

Um, just to fall out from that, but it's like, you know, working

Mike Forrester:

to, I don't need to amplify it and continue to add more to it.

Mike Forrester:

You know, like adding, adding weight to the truck that I'm pulling.

Mike Forrester:

It's like, you know, who in their right mind, if you're not pulling

Mike Forrester:

the truck, well would do that.

Mike Forrester:

Right?

Mike Forrester:

Exactly.

Mike Forrester:

That's honestly what we, you know, can unknowingly or ignorantly do, um,

Mike Forrester:

just to make things harder on ourself.

Mike Forrester:

As you started working out and you're seeing like your mindset change, like,

Mike Forrester:

what else did you start adding to like your daily life and routines to?

Mike Forrester:

You know, make it to where it's like the depression is a rare thing and, and

Mike Forrester:

you're able to focus on your goals and, and move forward with more confidence.

Mike Forrester:

Like what did you do beyond the working out as well?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, for sure.

Roman Fischer:

Outside of just the gym and working out.

Roman Fischer:

Cause obviously that's very important, but there's a lot of other things you can do.

Roman Fischer:

So what I found is very important is literally at the start of each day.

Roman Fischer:

For each morning, I'll literally, before my feet even hit the floor, I've done

Roman Fischer:

this before, but I still do it now is just think in my head and even say it

Roman Fischer:

out loud if it helps, but at least think it in my head, just every small, you

Roman Fischer:

know, in the middle and every big thing.

Roman Fischer:

That I'm grateful for so essentially practicing gratitude on every level

Roman Fischer:

of every aspect of my life could be a person could be a thing that I own like a

Roman Fischer:

possession or it could be just any goals that have achieved fitness or otherwise.

Roman Fischer:

So practicing gratitude, just really just being grateful

Roman Fischer:

each morning for everything.

Roman Fischer:

I have everything I've done and accomplished and everything I own.

Roman Fischer:

So that really keeps my mind at ease because I've had it, you know,

Roman Fischer:

some mornings I'll try waking up.

Roman Fischer:

And I'll feel even, you know, some mornings I'll feel a little

Roman Fischer:

bit more prone to be negative.

Roman Fischer:

So it happens to everyone, but having those thoughts of gratitude

Roman Fischer:

in the back of my mind, but bringing that them to the forefront of

Roman Fischer:

my mind is very, very powerful.

Roman Fischer:

And I found that that really does help tremendously in staying on track.

Roman Fischer:

Even when I want to start tapering off and not staying consistent.

Roman Fischer:

Another thing, too, is keeping a to do list in my phone.

Roman Fischer:

So, typically, what I'll do is I'll literally have on my notes section of

Roman Fischer:

my phone, just Monday through Saturday and even Sunday, everything I have to do

Roman Fischer:

from the morning to the evening to night.

Roman Fischer:

And just structuring and laying out my day.

Roman Fischer:

It keeps me motivated.

Roman Fischer:

It makes me feel and actually know, I should say that I have a purpose, a

Roman Fischer:

daily purpose and a daily thing to do with a lot of objectives to accomplish,

Roman Fischer:

to accomplish, to achieve, and then ultimately by the end of each day, I

Roman Fischer:

feel very good because I was productive.

Roman Fischer:

I was very efficient with my time and I was able to get each thing done to

Roman Fischer:

the maximum capacity that I could.

Roman Fischer:

So that helped me quite a bit and it's continued to help me

Roman Fischer:

a lot just and it keeps me from feeling, you know, depressed.

Roman Fischer:

It keeps me from feeling that I'm not getting a lot done.

Roman Fischer:

It keeps me feeling just overall good and productive and positive.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah, and I help think it helps you to see that your purpose

Mike Forrester:

and your plan are both moving forward rather than just being, um, it's almost

Mike Forrester:

like looking in the mirror and seeing, uh, you know, you, you see yourself

Mike Forrester:

daily and what you don't see in growth.

Mike Forrester:

Over a month, three months, um, you know, when you look at a three month

Mike Forrester:

old picture before and after you see the difference, but if you're looking

Mike Forrester:

day to day, they're minuscule, right?

Mike Forrester:

It's being able to look back and see that.

Mike Forrester:

Uh, the thing I would ask you, Roman, and I've heard this other guys is,

Mike Forrester:

um, Hey, Roman, man, setting out a to do list that is just so constraining.

Mike Forrester:

It's not me.

Mike Forrester:

Like, I just don't want to do that.

Mike Forrester:

What do you see that it's like is kind of like that shift in beliefs that In

Mike Forrester:

doing this, you're actually finding more freedom versus not having that to do list.

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, I found that when you have a to do list, it

Roman Fischer:

does seem pretty straining and it does seem very tedious, for sure.

Roman Fischer:

A lot of people can find it to be very tedious, but by the end of the day, You'll

Roman Fischer:

actually feel a lot more productive.

Roman Fischer:

You'll feel a lot better, more efficient, but you'll also feel a lot more free.

Roman Fischer:

Just like you were saying with freedom, because whenever you

Roman Fischer:

have a set structured, you know, itinerary or list of things you got

Roman Fischer:

to do from day to day for the week.

Roman Fischer:

You actually know what you have to do from point A to point B.

Roman Fischer:

You don't have to guess what you have to do.

Roman Fischer:

You don't have to stress out about knowing what you may or may not have to do.

Roman Fischer:

You don't even have to look around for what you have to do

Roman Fischer:

because it's all right there.

Roman Fischer:

So it literally gives you the freedom from not having to take the extra

Roman Fischer:

time, energy, and effort of looking for what you need to do each day.

Roman Fischer:

So it actually makes you a lot easier.

Roman Fischer:

Less stressed when you have everything structured, laid out, organized,

Roman Fischer:

and, and just neat for yourself.

Roman Fischer:

And then when you can do that, you can focus on each thing.

Roman Fischer:

And what I love to do is, especially if I'm able to get the

Roman Fischer:

hardest, most challenging thing done first and go from there.

Roman Fischer:

So that way, a lot of people like to say, eat the frog.

Roman Fischer:

So eating the frog, getting it done, just done and over with right

Roman Fischer:

away and being productive on that.

Roman Fischer:

To then making the rest of your day a lot less, you know,

Roman Fischer:

stressful and a lot easier.

Roman Fischer:

And it just, it's basically like a domino effect.

Roman Fischer:

So you push that picture, that domino, the first one being super

Roman Fischer:

hard to push and press forward.

Roman Fischer:

But once you get it, it's like everything else just falls into

Roman Fischer:

place and everything else just goes down the way you want it to.

Roman Fischer:

So that's how I love to think about it.

Roman Fischer:

Instead of literally Another good analogy to you is, if someone's trying to put a

Roman Fischer:

puzzle together, if you know where the pieces are, all you gotta do is, you

Roman Fischer:

know, piece them together bit by bit.

Roman Fischer:

It takes a little bit of work, but you'll get it, instead of

Roman Fischer:

trying to find each puzzle piece.

Roman Fischer:

You know throughout the house So that's how I love to think about

Roman Fischer:

it when it comes to planning and organizing your day for each week.

Mike Forrester:

Gotcha Yeah, that makes sense.

Mike Forrester:

So Roman and what we've been talking about, right?

Mike Forrester:

Um, you know, the physical fitness, the um, Um, your mindset, you know,

Mike Forrester:

that's all helping us with like our motivation and being able to, to

Mike Forrester:

focus on our goals and move forward.

Mike Forrester:

Is there something that's like, um, something that keeps you going long term?

Mike Forrester:

Because motivation and inspiration can get us going, but it doesn't

Mike Forrester:

always get us to the destination.

Mike Forrester:

Like, what are you doing?

Mike Forrester:

That keeps you going to, to get there?

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Roman Fischer:

Definitely.

Roman Fischer:

So remembering why I started and that's, that's what a lot of people need to do.

Roman Fischer:

Cause that's something that I didn't really think about too much

Roman Fischer:

growing up when I was on my journey.

Roman Fischer:

And so it was really hard to stay consistent because I didn't ever do

Roman Fischer:

this, but remembering why I started my journey, why I wanted to lose weight,

Roman Fischer:

why I wanted to help people out with them losing weight, gaining muscle or any

Roman Fischer:

goals they had, but just knowing my why.

Roman Fischer:

And that really, it makes it hard to want to give up because when

Roman Fischer:

you remember why you started, I mean, that's why you started.

Roman Fischer:

So you started because you really, you, you really wanted to achieve

Roman Fischer:

any goal that you had in that time.

Roman Fischer:

So when you can remember that and recite that, not just in your head, but

Roman Fischer:

really, I advocate people saying it out loud because when I've done that, it

Roman Fischer:

makes it a lot easier to not fall off, to not go back, you know, in regress.

Roman Fischer:

Cause that's, that's not what you want.

Roman Fischer:

But remembering why you started the journey to begin with, that just makes

Roman Fischer:

it a lot easier to keep going and really keep growing because it's a process.

Roman Fischer:

It's a journey.

Roman Fischer:

It's a growing and overall transformative journey.

Roman Fischer:

It's something that we're not going to get to right away.

Roman Fischer:

But when we have the mindset, the mindset to keep going and keep growing.

Roman Fischer:

That's everything.

Roman Fischer:

And remembering why you started.

Mike Forrester:

As far as like consistency, you know, that's one of

Mike Forrester:

those of if you work out three times this week and next week, but you don't the

Mike Forrester:

following three weeks, we're not going to see that growth, whether it's our mindset,

Mike Forrester:

our body finances, whatever, right?

Mike Forrester:

How are you?

Mike Forrester:

Ensuring that you have the consistency over the long haul, um, you know, are

Mike Forrester:

you using your why in there for that?

Mike Forrester:

Or is there something else as well that contributes to that consistency?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, definitely.

Roman Fischer:

So using my wine definitely helps.

Roman Fischer:

It helps keep me motivated, but it also helps keep me consistent.

Roman Fischer:

And going through what I want to achieve with my goals and helping other people.

Roman Fischer:

But also in addition to that, I found that doing that helps a lot,

Roman Fischer:

but also planning out each goal that I have and getting specific, just

Roman Fischer:

crystal clear on each of my goals.

Roman Fischer:

And then just going all in, going all out and not having any

Roman Fischer:

doubt of what I want to achieve.

Roman Fischer:

And just being 100 percent confident and 100 percent certain.

Roman Fischer:

With my goal and how I wanna achieve it.

Roman Fischer:

I found that really makes it easy too, to stay more consistent because

Roman Fischer:

you know the whole big picture of it.

Roman Fischer:

You know what you have to do, you know what you wanna achieve, when

Roman Fischer:

do you wanna achieve it, how you wanna achieve it, and really what

Roman Fischer:

that achievement might look like.

Roman Fischer:

And even painting that visual picture in your head and writing that down to you,

Roman Fischer:

I've found, has helped keep me consistent.

Roman Fischer:

It's really powerful stuff.

Roman Fischer:

A lot of people don't do that.

Roman Fischer:

They just say, Oh, I want to get fit or I want to get rich, but they

Roman Fischer:

don't have a crystal clear picture.

Roman Fischer:

Cause like what is rich?

Roman Fischer:

What is fit?

Roman Fischer:

Are you trying to gain muscle?

Roman Fischer:

Are you trying to lose, you know, a certain amount of weight?

Roman Fischer:

Uh, what, what size do you want to be in your clothing and then rich, rich

Roman Fischer:

can mean a lot of different things.

Roman Fischer:

Do you want to be, you know, a millionaire?

Roman Fischer:

Do you want to be, uh, you know, 100, 000 or like what, what

Roman Fischer:

goal do you got financially?

Roman Fischer:

So there's a lot of different things with that, but getting specific just in

Roman Fischer:

general with your goal and then knowing how and when you want to achieve it by.

Roman Fischer:

That can keep you more consistent and just more dedicated to it, because then you

Roman Fischer:

feel like there's actually a strategy.

Roman Fischer:

Then you don't feel like you're just, you know, shooting in the dark.

Roman Fischer:

You actually feel like you're actually going somewhere and you

Roman Fischer:

know, you're going somewhere.

Roman Fischer:

I should say,

Mike Forrester:

how often are you looking back at like your why your goals?

Mike Forrester:

And then how often are you also looking to see like what kind of progress

Mike Forrester:

you've made to, uh, You know, to kind of gauge, am I 5 percent into

Mike Forrester:

this or am I 50 percent into this?

Mike Forrester:

Yeah,

Roman Fischer:

I love to really take a snapshot every month.

Roman Fischer:

I call it.

Roman Fischer:

I love to just go back and look back on what I've done for the, you know, past

Roman Fischer:

month and just take it month by month.

Roman Fischer:

Of course, I do some little check ins by the week, but I really, with

Roman Fischer:

my, with my own, you know, fitness goals, I check myself weekly.

Roman Fischer:

But I love to take snapshots monthly on just my overall journey with my fitness,

Roman Fischer:

but also my fitness coaching and overall, just a professional career with, you

Roman Fischer:

know, acting, modeling and fitness.

Roman Fischer:

So just taking each month as it is and the month by the month, uh, tight check in.

Roman Fischer:

That really helps keep me more grounded and really, it helps me analyze how

Roman Fischer:

far I've come because it's crazy just in the past few months, what

Roman Fischer:

I've done, helping people just gain muscle, lose weight and doing different

Roman Fischer:

games from acting and modeling.

Roman Fischer:

So just really seeing each month for what it is, it's helped me tremendously.

Mike Forrester:

So if you said a goal of, um, Hey, I want to make a hundred thousand

Mike Forrester:

dollars by X date and you're looking at it monthly, are you writing it down somewhere

Mike Forrester:

to say, Hey, I was at 15, 000 here, or, you know, whatever the number is.

Mike Forrester:

I, in order to be on track, I need to be here.

Mike Forrester:

Are you writing it down to say, okay, Hey, I've made progress because I've done this.

Mike Forrester:

And maybe if I do this to kind of keep like a, a reminder when you look

Mike Forrester:

at it next month to, to kind of give you that background and that context

Mike Forrester:

of like what was going on and where you've gotten to, or is there something

Mike Forrester:

you're doing different to that?

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, usually what I'll use is I'll actually just use my notepad

Roman Fischer:

and my phone and I'll just put where I'm at currently, whether it's with my

Roman Fischer:

way or maybe my finances, um, or both.

Roman Fischer:

But I usually do it for both.

Roman Fischer:

I see where my weight was, where I want to be in, you know, the next few months.

Roman Fischer:

And then with my finances, I'll definitely put in where I'm at, you

Roman Fischer:

know, currently financially, um, not just in personal, but in business.

Roman Fischer:

And then I try to.

Roman Fischer:

I don't even try to, I make a goal objective of where I want

Roman Fischer:

to be in the next even month.

Roman Fischer:

And I even do it for specifically when it comes to business, I'll even

Roman Fischer:

sometimes do it for, you know, each week, you know, how many calls I

Roman Fischer:

want to book, how many clients I want to, you know, attain and, and help.

Mike Forrester:

Gotcha.

Mike Forrester:

And from the sounds of it, you talking about just putting it in notes of

Mike Forrester:

your phone, you're not making this where it's a really complex process.

Mike Forrester:

And, you know, you've got to have a high tech or high finance.

Mike Forrester:

I mean, you're keeping it simple and accessible.

Mike Forrester:

Um, so I could even from the sounds of it, I could even use paper and pen if that's

Mike Forrester:

what I've got just to start the process.

Mike Forrester:

Is that right?

Roman Fischer:

Definitely.

Roman Fischer:

Definitely.

Roman Fischer:

Keeping it simple and just keeping it very, you know, simple

Roman Fischer:

and mainstream and very easy.

Roman Fischer:

So when you make it easier and more consistent that way, it makes it

Roman Fischer:

harder to fall off and it makes it a lot easier to stick to you.

Mike Forrester:

So as you're coaching like your clients for fitness and mindset,

Mike Forrester:

what do you see is like the one one or two things that are like the biggest things

Mike Forrester:

that cause people to even though they may have their why they're not really sold

Mike Forrester:

out for it or their why isn't big enough.

Mike Forrester:

Like what causes them to stop kind of along the process.

Roman Fischer:

Yeah, definitely.

Roman Fischer:

I'd say it's a combination of a few things for sure.

Roman Fischer:

Self doubt.

Roman Fischer:

Self doubt is a huge thing that holds people back the most in anything

Roman Fischer:

in life, but especially in fitness.

Roman Fischer:

They might doubt that they can't lose this much weight.

Roman Fischer:

And sometimes it's actually overwhelming themselves by expecting to lose,

Roman Fischer:

let's say, 50 pounds in a month.

Roman Fischer:

And just having these crazy expectations.

Roman Fischer:

Not saying you can't lose weight and you can't lose quite a bit of

Roman Fischer:

weight in a short amount of time.

Roman Fischer:

You can.

Roman Fischer:

Yeah.

Roman Fischer:

But then that we're always knowing and remembering to, you know, plan

Roman Fischer:

your goals, but plan them where you're not overwhelming yourself and

Roman Fischer:

know that it's a, it's a process, it's progress over perfection.

Roman Fischer:

And that's what I love to tell and remind my clients that progress happens.

Roman Fischer:

It does, but it's not overnight.

Roman Fischer:

And even if you see some progress, know that that's going to add up to a

Roman Fischer:

lot of progress by the end of the day.

Roman Fischer:

So that's what I love to tell them and remind them to and I'd say another

Roman Fischer:

reason to that people fall off and Not always have their why as big as they

Roman Fischer:

could and should have is because they listen to other people and I've seen

Roman Fischer:

it I've seen it firsthand with some of my clients sadly, but they'll listen

Roman Fischer:

to other people that will say Oh, you can't lose that much weight or Man,

Roman Fischer:

that's a little, it's a little too much.

Roman Fischer:

That's a little unrealistic.

Roman Fischer:

So when they get those voices from other people, even if they don't necessarily

Roman Fischer:

know them, but especially if they know those people and they're telling them

Roman Fischer:

those things, it can really bite them, you know, emotionally from the inside.

Roman Fischer:

And then from there, it translates.

Roman Fischer:

Into making them not be as motivated and that eventually they're not

Roman Fischer:

really consistent because that motivation is gone that consistency

Roman Fischer:

is just kind of going up and down.

Roman Fischer:

And then it just drops completely.

Roman Fischer:

So those things can make it very difficult.

Roman Fischer:

And really, really challenging for those people to actually see it through

Roman Fischer:

and see the results because they let those people get to them and really

Roman Fischer:

just affect their mindset, their state of being in here, to which eventually

Roman Fischer:

does affect them over here, out here.

Roman Fischer:

So when it, when it affects their mind, it can affect their bodies.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah.

Mike Forrester:

It, the community, the circle of people we have around us, whether that's

Mike Forrester:

family, friends, coworkers, dude, can either be like our greatest asset.

Mike Forrester:

Or like the biggest challenge that we're carrying where their words,

Mike Forrester:

you know, we want to be accepted and in order to be accepted, we may.

Mike Forrester:

Begin believing what they're telling us, even though it's not true.

Mike Forrester:

Like you're talking about, Hey, maybe I set the goal for, you know,

Mike Forrester:

making X amount by this timeframe.

Mike Forrester:

And instead of making 10, 000, I made 5, 000.

Mike Forrester:

Okay.

Mike Forrester:

Was that the goal?

Mike Forrester:

Did you get the goal?

Mike Forrester:

No, but did you make progress a hundred percent, you know, 5, 000,

Mike Forrester:

who's going to say no to that?

Mike Forrester:

Right.

Mike Forrester:

Yeah, exactly.

Mike Forrester:

It's like, what do I need to do differently to next time get to

Mike Forrester:

that 10, you know, that 10, 000 or, you know, how can I get to 15

Mike Forrester:

even to get myself back on track?

Mike Forrester:

But I think this goes back to as well, like your gratitude and being able

Mike Forrester:

to track your progress in the full scope of things and keep in mind that.

Mike Forrester:

It's long term.

Mike Forrester:

It's that, uh, progress, not perfection.

Mike Forrester:

Like you talked about.

Mike Forrester:

So, Oh yeah.

Mike Forrester:

A hundred percent.

Mike Forrester:

Well, Roman, man, I appreciate you coming on and sharing your insights
